Former WWE Star To Train Riddick Bowe For Wrestling?, Jesse Ventura’s New Book

2

-Former WWE Superstar Tommy Dreamer noted on Twitter recently that he has already begun speaking with former undisputed boxing heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe about the possibility of training him in pro wrestling. As noted previously, Bowe is looking to enter pro wrestling and become the first ever heavyweight boxing and wrestling champion.

-WWE Hall Of Famer Jesse Ventura”s new political book, “They Killed Our President” will be released on October 1st. The official blurb for the book reads as follows:

“Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past fifty years, you’re aware of the many hypotheses that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was not done by one man. Whether you’ve read one or a dozen of the books on this topic, there’s no way to fully grasp the depth of this conspiracy. For the first time ever, New York Times bestselling authors Jesse Ventura and Dick Russell have teamed up with some of the most respected and influential assassination researchers to put together the ultimate compendium that covers every angle—from the plot to the murder—of JFK. They Killed Our President will not only discuss the most famous of theories, but will also bring to light new and recently discovered information, which together shows that the United States government not only was behind this egregious plot, but took every step to make sure that the truth would not come out. With 2013 marking the fiftieth anniversary of JFK’s assassination, this is the perfect time for They Killed Our President to be available to readers. The research and information in this book are unprecedented, and there’s nobody better to bring this to everyone’s attention than the former governor of Minnesota and US Navy SEAL, Jesse Ventura.”

In its fifth season, Royal Pains, about a ‘go to doctor for hire’ in the Hamptons, garnered 5.23 million total viewers, 1.97 million P25-54 and 1.69 million P18-49.

WWE Raw continued to draw a massive audience with 4.5 total viewers, and 2 million in both P18-49 and P25-54.

NCIS was the most-watched “off-net” series on cable this summer, averaging 2.7 million total viewers while SVU was #3, averaging 2.1M viewers. No other off-net one hour series on cable averaged above 2 million total viewers this summer. WWE House Show Results (8/24): Las Cruces, N.M. – CM Punk Honors Eddie Guerrero

7

The following are results from the WWE live event in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The event was held on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

-The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O’Neil) defeated 3MB (Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal) via Pinfall. Young and O’Neil got a good babyface reaction from the crowd. The finish saw O’Neil pick up the pinfall after hitting his finishing move.

-The Great Khali defeated Hunico via Pinfall. Hunico, who was basically in his hometown here, got a decent babyface reaction from the fans. The match was said to be pretty slow, and somewhat boring. The finsh saw Khali pick up the pinfall after hitting Hunico with the Karate Chop Of Death.

-Ryback defeated Kofi Kingston via Pinfall. No Shell Shock finisher here. The finish saw Ryback, being a bully, squeezing the referee in the middle of he and Kingston for a meat hook off the top-rope for the 1-2-3.

-Natalya & Kaitlyn defeated AJ Lee & Layla via Submission. The fans got the vote for the stipulation in this one. They chose a Dance Competition over an actual tag-match. AJ refused to participate in the dance-off. Layla went all out, doing a lot of the popular dances from the 1990s for a decent crowd reaction. As much as one could expect, giving the fact it was just chicks dancing. Eventually, AJ and Layla attacked Natalya and Kaitlyn, which led to a match. In the end, Natalya put Layla in the Sharpshooter and got the tap out.

-Dolph Ziggler defeated Big E. Langston via Pinfall. Langston cut a little promo before the match on the video screen. He basically talked about how SummerSlam was a fluke and he wouldn’t lose again. The match started off slow, but eventually picked up and the crowd got with it. In the end, Ziggler hit the Zig-Zag for the 1-2-3.

–Intermission–

-Cody Rhodes defeated Damien Sandow via Pinfall. Sandow cut a small promo on his walk to the ring saying he deserved a better reception when he comes out from the fans here in Las Cruces. He bad mouthed the city a bit and then the match started. The finish came when Rhodes hit his Corss-Rhodes finisher on Sandow for the 1-2-3.

-Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio via Disqualification. Del Rio, due to the pro-Hispanic crowd, got a pretty good pop coming out. Del Rio ended up getting some heat from the crowd by trying to cower away by taking his title and leaving. Christian wouldn’t let him, however. At one point, Del Rio applied his Cross Arm-breaker after throwing the referee into Christian. Christian ended up tapping, and Del Rio started celebrating. However, it was revealed that Del Rio didn’t win. He was DQ’d for throwing the ref at Christian, so the tap that came later didn’t count.

-CM Punk defeated Curtis Axel in a No–DQ Non-Title Match via Pinfall. Paul Heyman came out with Axel and cut a promo. He said the stipulation was unfair, being a no-DQ match for Axel’s WWE Intercontinental Championship. So, Heyman revealed that he had his lawyers make sure that since it was a no-DQ match, it would not be for the title after all. Punk came out to one of the loudest reactions of the night. Punk was selling a knee injury throughout the majority of the bout. In the end, Punk got the win with a simple roll-up pin for the 1-2-3. After the match, Punk nearly got his hands on Heyman, but Axel ultimately prevented that from happening. Punk hit Axel with a GTS and sold the knee injury after hitting it. After Heyman escaped, Punk cut a promo. Punk saw a sign in the crowd and made Tony Chimel go get it for him. The sign read, “Eddie Guerrero Country.” Punk said being here always makes him think of Eddie, and got a loud “Eddie” chant going from the crowd. Punk called Eddie the “Best In The World.”

Notes:

-The arena was said to be approximately 3/4 of the way filled up.

-Crowd wasn’t the hottest in recent memory, but was alive in certain points during the show.

Former Undisputed Heavyweight Boxing Champion To Enter Pro Wrestling

22

The former professional boxing undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe, recently posted a tweet on his official Twitter account claiming he wants to transition into the professional wrestling world. Bowe wrote:

“Looking into get into pro wrestling partners. Contact my manager [email protected] if u can help. I want to be first heavyweight boxing champions and heavyweight wrestling champion. I have trained hard with those bumps.”

Bowe, 46 years old, is a former two-time heavyweight boxing champion. Bowe won the title from “The Real Deal” Evander Holyfield, becoming the first man ever to defeat Holyfield in the professional ranks. Holyfield would mark the only loss on Bowe’s pro record, however, Bowe won the rubber match by becoming the first man to ever knockout Holyfield.

Bowe finished his career with a 43-1-0 record (with one no contest, a crazy low-blow-heavy brawl with Polish fighter Andrew Golota). 33 of Bowe”s 43 victories came by way of knockout. Bowe retired in 1996. He came back and won two fights, one in 2004 and one in 2005, before retiring a second time. Bowe made one final attempt at a comeback in 2008, winning another fight, before hanging up the gloves for good.

Apparently Bowe has been taking up some professional wrestling training and is now interested in getting involved in that world. As noted in the above tweet, promoters can book Bowe by contacting his manager Joe Melendez via e-mail at [email protected].

Details On Triple H & Stephanie McMahon Doing Boxing Training This Week In NYC

16

Celebrity-gossip website TMZ.com has an article up about WWE Superstar Triple H and his wife, Stephanie McMahon, doing some boxing training this week in New York City.

The article notes that the married couple trained with the same guy who taught Hilary Swank how to box for the Oscar winning film, “Million Dollar Baby.”

HHH and McMahon worked out in the ring at the world famous Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, where they trained and hit the pads a bit for “Protein Fight Club”, a campaign to promote milk.

TMZ has video footage of the two sparring in the ring. The guy putting them through the motions is Hector Roca, who has trained other celebrities to box, such as Wesley Snipes, John Leguizama and Jennifer Lopez.

The funniest part of the story is that after working with the two, Roca told TMZ that Stephanie showed “real flashes of promise” in the ring. However, when it came to HHH’s “Sweet Science” skills, Roca said, “boxing is not really his sport.”

Bryan Replacing Cena, Cena’s Real Expected Return, Vince McMahon’s Birthday

68

-WWE has recently updated their advertising for upcoming live events now that John Cena will no longer be able to appear on them. The biggest shuffle is Daniel Bryan being moved from the “B” shows to the “A” shows, in place of Cena as the singles headliner.

-Speaking of Cena, while publicly the statement from both he and the WWE side is that they are expecting him back by WrestleMania, apparently the expectation is that he will be back in time for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. That would be just under five months after his surgery, which is pushing the recovery process slightly. As noted, especially with Cena, returning sooner than scheduled when dealing with injuries is not out of the ordinary.

-WWE CEO Vince McMahon celebrates his 68th birthday this Saturday. McMahon was born on August 24, 1945.

-ESPN personality and former WWE broadcaster Jonathan Coachman appeared on the “Mike and Mike” show this morning on ESPN Radio answering questions from Twitter regarding WWE.
