Rey Mysterio Update, Kane’s Return And Survivor Series Match With Bray Wyatt

-WWE Superstar Kane made his official return to WWE on Sunday night as he made the save for The Miz during an attack from The Wyatt Family, and then chokeslammed Miz for no apparent reason afterwards. As noted, WWE is likely building towards a Kane vs. Bray Wyatt match at the upcoming WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view. The match was in jeopardy at one point, with Wyatt suffering a leg injury at a WWE live event, however all reports point to the fact that Wyatt should be ready to work matches again by the time the pay-per-view rolls around.

Ken Shamrock Talks About Heat with Triple H, Being Blackballed by WWE and More

6

Former WWE & UFC star Ken Shamrock was recently interviewed by Steve and The Scum of WGD Weekly. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Having Heat With Triple H: “I’d like to clarify that. There was a guy named Mark Henry, a strong man. He was in the locker room and there were a few guys involved. Hunter was one of them that put s–t in his sandwich and I told him. So, I think Hunter didn’t like me for that and I think Hunter didn’t like me for the fact that when I first came in Vince put me over on him. I was truly understanding that I was the new guy coming in and I hadn’t put in my dues and I was getting a push, but I was doing what I was asked to do. I think Hunter had a real hard time dealing with that, especially with me being a real bad ass otherwise and there’s nothing he could do about it. Then opening my mouth to protect another human being, I think there is ribbing and there is having fun and then there is things where you cross over the line, and so I said something.”

Why he feels “Blackballed” by WWE: “I had put out my feelers, I had actually talked to Shane McMahon, he put a call in. I thought I had a pretty intricate part in changing the face of wrestling when I was able to ref the match with Bret Hart and Stone Cold, it changed the face of wrestling. I was in all the Pay Per Views and all the house shows, and I thought I made a pretty good impact and helped change pro wrestling, not by myself, but definitely I was a part of it in the Attitude Era. There is no recognition towards me or about me and I’m kind of disappointed.”

Wanting to get into the ring with Triple H: “When it comes to Hunter, I would love to get in the ring with him and show him what it’s like… help him understand that there is a lot of people in this world that have a lot of natural ability and natural talent and just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean it isn’t so… I would love to get in the ring with him and show him exactly who I am and what I’m about.”

“Dolphins1925” Predicts All HIAC Matches, Misses Sandow MITB Cash-In Prediction

8

The infamous Reddit user, Dolphins1925, once again correctly predicted all of the match outcomes for a WWE pay-per-view on Sunday. The only thing Dolphins missed was his prediction that Damien Sandow would cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase after the John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio World Heavyweight Championship match.

The predictions made by Dolphins followed the betting lines for the top matches, which included a major shift for the Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton match on the day of the event. Bryan opened as a solid favorite, reaching as high as (-2,000) before becoming a huge underdog (+1,400) on Sunday night.

Dolphins correctly picked Orton over Bryan, Rhodes Brothers over The Shield and The Uso’s, CM Punk over Ryback & Paul Heyman, AJ Lee over Brie Bella, Los Matadores over The Real Americans and John Cena over Alberto Del Rio.

Regarding the incorrect prediction that Sandow would cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase, Dolphins claimed it was “merely misinformation from my source,” or the possibility that WWE changed their plans after he tweeted out the spoiler.

Jim Ross Blogs About Last Night’s WWE Hell In A Cell PPV

2

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on last night’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His Favorite Match: The opening tag match was arguably my favorite match of the night. Lots of action and perhaps even too much action outside the ring for a first bout when considering what was coming with the HIAC being used twice later in the night. Nonetheless, all three teams worked hard, all had their moments and all seemed to deliver in a positive way.

Kane’s Return: Not sure what to make of the Wyatt Family/Miz/Kane business. The follow up on what Kane did to Miz left many unanswered questions but perhaps that was the goal. At least the aforementioned individuals got some PPV time/exposure.

CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman: Seems as if the Punk/Heyman issue was closed last night with Happy Heyman getting caned like a Government Mule on top of the Cell which was a unique setting. Heyman could theoretically be ‘gone’ for a while ‘healing’ but WWE’s best, villain talker will obviously be back at some point to resume his contributions to the programming. The big question then would be what’s next for both Punk and Heyman? Both are too valuable to not have strong issues in which to be involved going forward. Hopefully, their WM30 plans are penciled in already.

John Cena’s Return: Thought John Cena and Alberto Del Rio had a very solid bout and one that arguably exceeded my expectations based on Cena’s surgery and recent inactivity. Very easy story to tell as it revolved around Cena’s left arm and ADR’s cross armbreaker. Hopefully, Cena can add some needed luster to the World Heavyweight Title.

The Main Event: I was expecting more, and I’m not sure exactly what, from the final, main event bout featuring Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton for the WWE Title. Adding HBK to the mix as the referee was strategic promoting as was having HHH at ringside. But the match never quite got over the hump for me. One certainly can’t slight the efforts of all involved but sometimes the game plan looks better on paper than in actual execution.

One would assume that this controversial conclusion will lead to an eventful Monday Night RAW and many of the missing storyline elements will be resolved or at least addressed tonight on live, TV.

The key element to consider is that many consumers bought their second $50+ PPV this month and at some point the majority of the fan base, considering that they were pulling for Daniel Bryan, has to [be] made happy.

Without question, antagonist angst sells, remember I worked in Mid South Wrestling, but there has to be a happy ending at some point and I certainly assumed that Daniel Bryan would have won inside HIAC where the heroes have traditionally had some level of success in such a finale-like presentation. I missed on that one.

Tommy Dreamer Speaks On The State Of Pro Wrestling, Terry Funk, Rosita

1

The following are highlights from a recent VOC Nation interview with Tommy Dreamer:

On building the House of Hardcore promotion: “The brand was actually contested by the pornographic world; I had to actually prove the definition of hardcore in terms of wrestling. (Thankfully) it all worked out in the end.”

On the state of pro wrestling: “There’s a lot of unhappiness with the current direction of wrestling, especially with the last few pay per views (from both companies). I was watching the last WWE PPV with fans at a restaurant, and the end of the show left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth. TNA has been doing that for a long time as well. I’m not knocking the product or the direction; wrestling is (in the eye of the beholder) and I just view it differently. I was the very first Paul Heyman guy; him and I used to argue about what was good for the show and the product, but we never lied or tried to screw over the audience. I watched (ECW) grow from a 35 person audience to selling out 1000+ seat arenas. It seems like most people in the wrestling industry are just take, take, take and I hate that. I’m trying to build something so everyone can work and prosper. I don’t have a money backer; this is my money. I’m not going to be the next WWE or TNA (overnight), I’m slowly trying to build something.

On his goals for House of Hardcore: “I would love for my company to be on a national level. I would love to be running a television show. I’m not going to rush things, I’m not going to force things. I have a business model and a game plan. There’s a lot of great talented men and women out there that don’t get a chance to show what they have to offer because of body types, politics, or things like that (I want to give those people a chance). I hope one day to be able to pay guys enough money where they can turn other people down and work for me every week.”

On working with Terry Funk: “This is the last time I’ll ever be tagging with Terry Funk. He just turned 69 years old and he’s still working and taking bumps. He’s going to Japan this week to work with his brother. Terry Funk is my wrestling father, and this is the last time we’ll ever walk down the aisle together. It’s going to be very special for me.”

On breaking Rosita into the business: “I remember seeing Lita for the first time in North Carolina. She did an amazing moonsault and I broke her into the business. As far as Rosita goes, a few years back, I saw a very attractive girl in the ring during an outdoor independent show. I told her that she needed to increase her ability in the ring (and she’d be a star). When I was in TNA they told be they were looking for somebody (female talent); I got her a tryout and she ended up earning a job. I’ve told her many times that she needs to leave wrestling and go straight to Hollywood. She is an amazing talent.”

WWE Hell In A Cell Kickoff Show

The Kickoff Show opens with the expert panel running down some of tonight’s top matches. The expert panel consists of Josh Mathews, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Kaitlyn.

From there we head to Renee Young in the Social Media Lounge. She plugs some of tonight’s social media stuff, such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. Young announces that there is a poll over at WWE.com, as tonight they want to crown a “Mr. Hell In A Cell.” The options are The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton and Mick Foley.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero is shown walking and The Miz approaches her. Miz says he wants Bray Wyatt in a match tonight. Guerrero says Miz is not medically cleared so she can’t sanction the match for him. Miz says if she can’t make the match, then he guesses that means there’s gonna have to be a fight. Guerrero asks what that means as Miz walks away.

We go back to the expert panel, where Big E. Langston joins the guys. They talk about his match with Curtis Axel being canceled as a loud, random “Yes!” chant breaks out from the fans already in attendance at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

After we see some fans filing in the arena in Miami, we expert panel run down some more matches for tonight. They reveal that the triple-threat match for the WWE Tag-Team Championship will open the pay-per-view portion of tonight’s Hell In A Cell show.

From there, we go to a special live backstage interview with The Shield. One-by-one, the guys complain about having to beat two tag-teams to win back the titles tonight, instead of just one. They talk about Big Show sticking his nose in their business constantly. They all hit their catchphrases, but then Big E. Langston cuts them off. He talks about Dean Ambrose always making things unfair in their regular matches. Langston then challenges Ambrose to a match for the WWE United States Championship tonight. Ambrose turns him down. Langston asks what the problem is, noting that he’s just a rookie. Ambrose says he doesn’t deserve it. Langston continues to push for it and Ambrose finally accepts. So we have a Big E. Langston vs. Dean Ambrose WWE U.S. Title match added to tonight’s show.

Here is our first photo of the evening, courtesy of our live correspondant at the American Airlines Arena. This is a photo of John Cena’s brand new t-shirt, which is available in the merchandise stands throughout the arena tonight in Miami.

Damien Sandow vs. Kofi Kingston

The Hell In A Cell Kickoff Show heads to announce team of Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry “The King” Lawler. The trio introduces us to the first match of the evening: Damien Sandow vs. Kofi Kingston as the solo Kickoff Show match for tonight. We go to the ring and out comes Damien Sandow. He cuts a promo and mentions John Cena’s return. Kofi Kingston is out next. They go at it to start the match as soon as the bell rings. After a minute or so of action, we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We return from commercial and Sandow is in control of the offense at the moment. Sandow hits his elbow drop for a nearfall. Sandow keeps Kofi grounded and slams him into the mat. Sandow with an abdominal stretch now. Sandow goes to the top but Kofi cuts him off and sends him to the mat. Kofi makes a comeback with chops and a dropkick. Kofi with the big right hand and a Boom Drop. Sandow ducks Trouble In Paradise. Kofi blocks a back drop and kicks Sandow in the head. Kofi springboards in with a crossbody and covers for 2. We see Rey Mysterio on the Spanish commentary team tonight. Kofi with another springboard in for a nearfall. The finish comes when Sandow pins Kingston after hitting him with a big slam move.

Winner: Damien Sandow

Here are two more photos. Firstly, the entrance way for the American Airlines Arena for tonight’s Hell In A Cell.

Our next photo is of the ring and the Hell In A Cell structure hanging above the ring.

New WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff Match Announced Following Axel’s Injury, Langston To Appear On PPV?

8

WWE’s official Twitter account announced this afternoon that Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel will be unable to compete tonight in the WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff Match after sustaining an undisclosed injury. According to WWE’s official website, following a second evaluation by medical personnel, he was not cleared for in-ring action.

In place of the scheduled Intercontinental Championship between Axel and Big E Langston, Kofi Kingston will face “Mr. Money in the Bank,” Damien Sandow in a singles match.

It would appear that Langston is not being left out in the cold, as the website is teasing a possible appearance at the pay-per-view. The website states, “With this Kickoff Match taking place on the same night as John Cena’s momentous return to action to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship, what is going through Sandow’s mind as he carries his coveted Money in the Bank contract into Miami’s American Airlines Arena? Also, now that Langston is no longer scheduled to compete, how will the rising star look to make an impact tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell?”
