Why Hell in a Cell Match Was Canceled Late, Vito Talks Wrestling In A Dress (Video), Goldust and Cody Rhodes

11

– WWE announced Sunday afternoon that Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel would be unable to compete in the WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff Match after sustaining an undisclosed injury, which was later reported as an injury to his hips on Raw. Company officials weren’t sure what his diagnosis would be until Friday, which is why nothing was announced until yesterday afternoon.

Many of Axel’s co-workers consider the news very disappointing since he’s popular among them and viewed as a person who goes forward with whatever he’s asked to do.

At this time, the severity of his injury, as well as the status of the WWE Intercontinental Championship, is unknown.

– Speaking to Shannon Rose, Vito talked about wrestling in a dress as part of his character in WWE years ago, working for World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling, as well as his professional wrestling academy.

– At WWE Hell in a Cell, as Cody Rhodes and Goldust successfully fended off The Shield’s Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and The Usos to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship. The brothers emerged victorious Rhodes pinned Seth Rollins following a Cross Rhodes.

Following the match, Goldust praised his brother on Twitter, writing: “I watched my brother @CodyRhodesWWE perform magic tonight when i tagged him in. He killed it! #ProudBrother #RhodesDynasty #TheBrotherhood4Life! @wwe.”

One report claims that some of the people interested in buying TNA from the Carter’s include Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett, Viacom and possibly even World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

We should have more details on this breaking story on Monday morning.

WWE Hell In A Cell Kickoff Show

The Kickoff Show opens with the expert panel running down some of tonight’s top matches. The expert panel consists of Josh Mathews, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Kaitlyn.

From there we head to Renee Young in the Social Media Lounge. She plugs some of tonight’s social media stuff, such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. Young announces that there is a poll over at WWE.com, as tonight they want to crown a “Mr. Hell In A Cell.” The options are The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton and Mick Foley.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero is shown walking and The Miz approaches her. Miz says he wants Bray Wyatt in a match tonight. Guerrero says Miz is not medically cleared so she can’t sanction the match for him. Miz says if she can’t make the match, then he guesses that means there’s gonna have to be a fight. Guerrero asks what that means as Miz walks away.

We go back to the expert panel, where Big E. Langston joins the guys. They talk about his match with Curtis Axel being canceled as a loud, random “Yes!” chant breaks out from the fans already in attendance at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

After we see some fans filing in the arena in Miami, we expert panel run down some more matches for tonight. They reveal that the triple-threat match for the WWE Tag-Team Championship will open the pay-per-view portion of tonight’s Hell In A Cell show.

From there, we go to a special live backstage interview with The Shield. One-by-one, the guys complain about having to beat two tag-teams to win back the titles tonight, instead of just one. They talk about Big Show sticking his nose in their business constantly. They all hit their catchphrases, but then Big E. Langston cuts them off. He talks about Dean Ambrose always making things unfair in their regular matches. Langston then challenges Ambrose to a match for the WWE United States Championship tonight. Ambrose turns him down. Langston asks what the problem is, noting that he’s just a rookie. Ambrose says he doesn’t deserve it. Langston continues to push for it and Ambrose finally accepts. So we have a Big E. Langston vs. Dean Ambrose WWE U.S. Title match added to tonight’s show.

Here is our first photo of the evening, courtesy of our live correspondant at the American Airlines Arena. This is a photo of John Cena’s brand new t-shirt, which is available in the merchandise stands throughout the arena tonight in Miami.

Damien Sandow vs. Kofi Kingston

The Hell In A Cell Kickoff Show heads to announce team of Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry “The King” Lawler. The trio introduces us to the first match of the evening: Damien Sandow vs. Kofi Kingston as the solo Kickoff Show match for tonight. We go to the ring and out comes Damien Sandow. He cuts a promo and mentions John Cena’s return. Kofi Kingston is out next. They go at it to start the match as soon as the bell rings. After a minute or so of action, we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We return from commercial and Sandow is in control of the offense at the moment. Sandow hits his elbow drop for a nearfall. Sandow keeps Kofi grounded and slams him into the mat. Sandow with an abdominal stretch now. Sandow goes to the top but Kofi cuts him off and sends him to the mat. Kofi makes a comeback with chops and a dropkick. Kofi with the big right hand and a Boom Drop. Sandow ducks Trouble In Paradise. Kofi blocks a back drop and kicks Sandow in the head. Kofi springboards in with a crossbody and covers for 2. We see Rey Mysterio on the Spanish commentary team tonight. Kofi with another springboard in for a nearfall. The finish comes when Sandow pins Kingston after hitting him with a big slam move.

Winner: Damien Sandow

Here are two more photos. Firstly, the entrance way for the American Airlines Arena for tonight’s Hell In A Cell.

Our next photo is of the ring and the Hell In A Cell structure hanging above the ring.

According to WWE’s official website, following a second evaluation by medical personnel, he was not cleared for in-ring action.

In place of the scheduled Intercontinental Championship between Axel and Big E Langston, Kofi Kingston will face “Mr. Money in the Bank,” Damien Sandow in a singles match.

It would appear that Langston is not being left out in the cold, as the website is teasing a possible appearance at the pay-per-view. The website states, “With this Kickoff Match taking place on the same night as John Cena’s momentous return to action to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship, what is going through Sandow’s mind as he carries his coveted Money in the Bank contract into Miami’s American Airlines Arena? Also, now that Langston is no longer scheduled to compete, how will the rising star look to make an impact tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell?”

Hulk Hogan

It was reported last week by PWInsider.com that the 60-year-old has been “training like a mad man” in hopes of wrestling again for WWE.

Hogan returning to the promotion could hinge on Triple H, who is leaving the door open for his return to the sports-entertainment organization. The six-time WWE Champion told the Associated Press earlier this month that he was warmly received by Vince McMahon’s son-in-law at a recent charity function.

“He just welcomed me with open arms. He said if ever I decide I get the itch to come back home,” the door’s open,” Hogan stated.

The former WWE Divas Champion also reveals that she would like to peek inside the male wrestlers’ locker room. WWE Pulls Listing For Hell in a Cell Kickoff Match, Konnan Says Eight WWE Stars Should Be Tossed

22

– It was announced last week that Curtis Axel would defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Big E Langston tonight in the WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff, which streams live at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. However, it now appears that the match has been nixed, as the match is no longer advertised on the Hell in a Cell page on WWE.com, not to mention that the page previewing the match, has been deleted.

No match is being advertised for the WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff, with the following stated: “Find out who will be the next WWE Champion and watch John Cena’s in-ring return when WWE Hell in a Cell airs live on pay-per-view tonight at 8 ET/5 PT, and don’t forget to check out the Kickoff, which streams live at 7:30 ET/4:30 PT!”

– Konnan, who is always vocal about WWE on his podcast and on Twitter, feels a number of WWE Superstars should be removed from television—due to poor performance and/or lack of marketability. In response to a fan on Twitter asking him which two talents should be written off television, he responded with eight, including reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel, all three members of 3MB, and three WWE Divas.

“Brad Maddox, JoJo, Rosa, 3MB, Axel, Aksana, would write dem off,” said Konnan.

Konnan, however, is high on two wrestlers he feels are underutilized. In response to a question asking who should be pushed, he stated, “Ziggler and Cesaro.”

– Tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell, Cody Rhodes and Goldust will defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against the team of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, as well as Jey and Jimmy Uso. Rollins vows to reclaim the gold.

“Tonight is for reclamation. @WWEUsos & the #RhodesDynasty may be bonded by blood, but talent outperforms tradition. Believe that. #HIAC,” he wrote on Twitter.

Jey And Jimmy Uso Looking To Win The WWE Tag Team Championship Tonight In Honor Of The Late Umaga

15

Tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell, Cody Rhodes and Goldust will defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against the team of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, as well as Jey and Jimmy Uso. Should the Usos capture the gold tonight, it will be in honor of their late uncle, Umaga, who they pay tribute to inside the ring through face paint.

“We owe our whole wrestling careers to my late uncle Umaga,” said Jimmy. “He was the one who grabbed us from a bad situation in a bar at 2:30 in the morning, and drove use from Houston, Texas, to Florida, where he lived. He told us we needed to change our lives because it wasn’t working out. That’s why our paint tribute is so cool. Every time we put it on, I still feel like he’s there with us. It makes us feel like part of The Samoan Bulldozer. We’re a bulldozer, we’re reckless. We can’t get hurt. Bulldozers are made to knock stuff down. And that’s how we feel when that paint is on us. It’s the coolest thing ever man. I love getting painted up because my uncle is here with us. It’s all because of him.”

Jey adds, “No one ever knows our struggle. We say, “Day 1,” every day. They don’t see behind what got us here, how we had to work to get here. And when we got here, we had to keep working, keep pushing. The day we do win the Tag Team Titles, that’s for my family. That’s for all the Usos around the world, especially Umaga. That’s No. 1 for him. My first title win is strictly for Umaga—he knows that, and my brother knows that.”

Jimmy also explained what the term “Uce” means—friends of Umaga would often refer to him by that name and it is often used around the Usos: “Uce means your friend. I even said that to Cameron’s boyfriend, whom I just met not long ago. He was like, “What do you keep calling me?” It means “brother” in Samoan. It means you’re my friend. It’s another slang word for “bro,” or something of that nature. My brother says it so much. When we hear some of the boys calling each other, they say that. It’s pretty cool. We heard Wade Barrett talking to Heath Slater once, and he said, “Yeah Uce!” That’s funny. I was like, what the…? It catches on like that. I introduced myself to my fiancée as “Uce” when we first started talking. That’s weird. And Umaga’s dog’s name was Uce. I want to name mine that when I get one.”

Daniel Bryan Talks Hell in a Cell, Responds To Fan Criticism Over WWE Handling Of His Storyline

23

Daniel Bryan, who will face Randy Orton tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell, spoke with PWInsiderTV yesterday at Ringsidefest in New York City about entering the Cell for the first time in his career, the pressure of working WWE pay-per-view main events and how it compares to working on top elsewhere in the world, advice Shawn Michaels gave him, his engagement to Brie Bella, whether we’ll ever bring the “Final Countdown” theme song to WWE and more.

Much has been said online about WWE’s handling of ongoing storyline for the WWE Championship, as Bryan’s never-ending chase for the gold has left may fans upset. In response to the fan criticism, Bryan remarks, “Let them be critical.”

He explains, “I’ve always thought that. The fans have the right to say what they what and to be critical about something. If you don’t like it, say it. We live in a free country and the problem is that people don’t voice their opinions enough. People sit on their hands too much and don’t say what they want, say what they really believe in. If they believe that, say it. And that’s good, because constructive criticism is always good to me, and the company can take it how they want to. They listen to it, and if they look at it and say, “Oh wait a second, they don’t have any valid points. We want them to be upset.” Hey, that’s okay. But if they look at it and say, “That is a valid point, we might need to change something.” That’s the basis for change to me, is constructive criticism and people going against the norm.”

While Bryan doesn’t feel pressure competing in WWE pay-per-view main events, he still gets nervous. Bryan, who was trained by Michaels, revealed a piece of advice given to him by the WWE Hall of Famer: “Shawn Michaels told me when I was training, if you don’t get nervous before you step through that curtain, then you probably shouldn’t do this anymore. So there’s always that little bit of nervousness because you want to go out there and you just want to give people everything that you got and you want to give them a great match, and all that kind of stuff, especially when you’re in the main event. But the nerves of having to follow something…the only time I really felt that was at SummerSlam, when I was watching CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar and going, “Oh my gosh. We have to follow this!”
