Scott Hall Reacts To TNA’s Lackluster Bound For Glory Attendance – “A Sad State Of Affairs”

30

TNA Wrestling held its premiere event, Bound For Glory, this past Sunday in San Diego, California, and was unable to fill a good portion of the 12,000 seat Viejas Arena. To combat this startling lack of attendance, some fans were guided to seats in the lower bowl and moved near the hard camera in order for the venue to appear full during the pay-per-view broadcast. Scott Hall, who appeared for the organization as recently as 2010, weighed in on the lackluster turnout with the following message on Twitter.

Despite the company’s ills, he feels that former New World Order cohorts Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are not to blame. In response to a fan saying it’s their fault, Hall wrote, “The history is that [Bischoff] and Hulk left alone, draw money. They never had the control needed to pop that company in my opinion..”

In response to whether WWE head Vince McMahon will ultimately buy the company out, Hall wrote, “Nothing to buy….” In his opinion, that includes talent. Hall wrote to a fan, “Name three people WWE would want…”

Hall added that he he has no interest in returning to the company.

Triple H Comments On The Jabs He Took At Past WWE Superstars On RAW

39

WWE COO Triple H commented on the jabs he took at past WWE Superstars on Monday’s RAW in his latest sit-down interview with WWE announcer Michael Cole. Below is an excerpt from their discussion:

“Was it a little over the top? Maybe. To say he wasted his time – listen, I will go on record saying Daniel Bryan is exceptional in the ring. Maybe great. There were a lot of names I mentioned on Monday night. I was by no means putting those guys down. They’re all great. They’re all Legends in this business. Just like maybe he will become. But, is he The Guy? Is he The Face? Is he The One? No. I think people get lost in what I’m saying here. The reality of it is that if Daniel Bryan disagrees with the fact that I think he’s a B-Plus Player, prove me wrong.”

Lex Luger Talks Steroids In Wrestling, His Drinking Problem & More

0

The following are highlights from a new Forbes interview with Lex Luger:

On PED’s in the pro wrestling industry: “As far as the PED’s, as they’re referred to now, they were very prevalent at the time, as they are so today. I thought I had a hold on that. Proper cycling and medical blood tests and things like that. There’s ways around the testing at the time. Obviously, there still is. So, I thought, at the time, I had a good grip on that. As far as the alcohol and the prescription drugs, they made a real mess in my life. Outside of wrestling, most of my career, I never really felt I had a problem with it.”

On issues he has dealt with personally: “I thought the drinking and the pills were more of a social thing that I did with the rest of the guys. Back then, it was a work hard, play hard mentality, Dan. So none of us felt we really had a problem. But guys were dropping like flies and dying. I was towards the end of my career and it was my real worst times because the alcohol was right after my retirement. I had too much free time on my hands.”

Mickie James Speaks On If She’s Done With Pro Wrestling, Her Music Career & More

9

The following are highlights from a recent Temple-News web interview with former TNA Knockout Mickie James:

On if she’s done with pro wrestling: “It’s certainly not the last time you’ll see me on television in a wrestling ring. I’m far from done. When I retire, I want to retire the right way. That’s what we all hope for, right?”

On balancing music and pro wrestling: “It’s one of those things where you have to make time and work around your schedule. Coming from the WWE where I was on the road 200 to 250 days of the year and then crossing over to TNA where the schedule was much lighter gave me some time to work on the music. But it’s not easy cash, I will say that.”

Concern Over Triple H Being Overworked, Jericho Responds To Triple H Again

– Chris Jericho has tweeted another reaction to Triple H’s promo from RAW, where he said guys like Jericho, Rob Van Dam and Edge were never good enough to be the face of WWE. Jericho’s initial response was:

“Thing is @tripleh despite ur major push,u never were either. Good luck in ur future endeavors”

Since then, he added, “No big deal. Always nice to be mentioned on Raw.”

Mick Foley Praises Paul Heyman’s Recent Work And His Character’s Evolution

10

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has published a new Facebook blog praising Paul Heyman after his backstage promo on Monday’s RAW (view here) – and his evolution in the business over the years. Here is a portion of what Foley wrote:

“To the casual fan, Paul Heyman might appear to be the same guy he’s always been – shifty, deceitful, unscrupulous. But a closer examination reveals Heyman to be almost chameleon-like in his evolution; adapting at all times to his surroundings, always staying one step ahead of the curve, doing whatever it takes to not only survive, but thrive in the turbulent sea of professional wrestling.

Wrestling’s history is full of talented performers who lacked the instinct for survival – guys who hung on to something that had worked for them, even if the times, and tastes around them were changing. The Paul Heyman who used a cell phone as a weapon in the late 80?s through the mid-90?s – a big, brick-like foreign object, at a time when cell-phones were still uncommon – would look ridiculous today, wielding a palm-sized I-phone. Likewise, the ball-cap wearing Heyman who inspired a ragtag band of misfits in a bingo hall into the leaders of a wrestling revolution – while still being effective, just wouldn’t be as absorbing in today’s game.

But this current incarnation of Paul Heyman is the best on-air representation I’ve seen yet from wrestling’s mad scientist. Ironically, the man who often willingly depicts himself as a coward on-air, is doing some of the most courageous work I’ve seen – taking chances (saying “I love you” to Punk, and asking Ryback to be a Paul Heyman guy) and baring parts of his inner self that a less confident man would never dare.

Last night’s RAW saw some great microphone work. Punk, as usual, was great, and Bray Wyatt has quickly turned himself into a must-see/must-hear attraction. But that Heyman promo last night was off the charts.”

RVD Responds To Triple H, Video Of Bella Twins On Jimmy Kimmel

14

– Rob Van Dam has joined Chris Jericho and Edge in responding to Triple H’s comments on RAW about the 3 of them being “B+” wrestlers who could have never been the face of WWE. Van Dam tweeted, “Missed it. Sounds strong.” – an indication that he doesn’t watch WWE TV every week during his time off.

– The Bella Twins appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show this week to promote the return of “Total Divas” in November. The Bellas also played a prank on one of Kimmel’s security guards while on the show.

John Cena Honored By Make-A-Wish With First-Ever 300th Wish Award

15

WWE issued the following press release today:

For Immediate Release

WWE(r) SUPERSTAR JOHN CENA(r) HONORED BY MAKE-A-WISH(r) WITH FIRST-EVER 300TH WISH AWARD

STAMFORD, Conn., October 22, 2012 – WWE (NYSE: WWE) announced today that WWE Superstar, John Cena, was honored by Make-A-Wish last week at their “Evening of Excellence Awards Ceremony” for being the only celebrity to reach the record-breaking milestone of fulfilling 300 wishes.

Cena became the first recipient of the 300th Wish Award at the annual Make-A-Wish awards ceremony in Glendale, AZ. His award was presented by wish mom Judith Harrison, whose late son Justin was the second wish child Cena ever met, before an audience of hundreds of Make-A Wish national and chapter staff, volunteer leaders, and wish families.

“WWE Superstar John Cena is a champion in the ring and a champion for Make-A-Wish and wish kids across the world,” said David A. Williams, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish America. “Even in the face of a hectic travel schedule, the physical demands of his job and countless requests for his time, John’s commitment to creating life-changing wish experiences for each and every wish kid requesting to meet him has never wavered. He is an amazing wish granter and a great friend of Make-A-Wish.”

“I can think of no greater honor than someone who can have any wish they want in the world, yet they choose to spend their time with me,” said Cena. “I will continue to grant wishes as long as there are children who request me. I am proud to be a part of WWE’s long standing alliance with Make-A-Wish.”

Cena set a Make-A-Wish record this June by granting his 300th wish to Jonathan Littman, 7, an honor that was also celebrated on ABC’s Good Morning America. Cena has been personally granting wishes for more than eight years, and during the course of WWE’s 25-year alliance with Make-A-Wish, the company and its Superstars have granted more than 4,000 wishes.
