WWE.com Reports On Randy Orton Attacker Pleading Guilty To Assault

11

The official website of WWE continues to cover the Randy Orton attack story, which began at the WWE live event in Cape Town, South Africa this past Tuesday when a fan, now known to be Tshepo Sekhabi, jumped the ring and hit Orton in the groin following his match with Big E. Langston.

As reported earlier this week, WWE.com covered the story when it first happened. In fact, they even included a fan-shot video of the incident that originated on YouTube. Many had questioned whether or not the entire incident was a work, considering the fact that fans have hit the ring many times in the past and WWE never publicized such incidents on their official company website.

The coverage by WWE continued on Friday evening, when news surfaced that Sekhabi was charged and plead guilty to assault. WWE.com reported the news by updating their original article on the subject with the following addition:

The accused party pleaded guilty in court yesterday, August 1, 2013, and was charged and ordered to either pay a fine of 500 Rand or, alternatively, serve 30 days in jail.

After acknowledging his wrongfulness, the accused individual was given a three-year suspended sentence, and is not permitted to attend WWE’s Live Events in Johannesburg, South Africa, this week.

WWE House Show Results (8/2): Johannesburg, South Africa

3

The following are results from the WWE live event in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event was held on Friday, August 2, 2013.

-R-Truth defeated Fandango in the opening match. Decent opener. Crowd was apparently way behind R-Truth in this one.

-Rob Van Dam defeated Wade Barrett via pinfall. Van Dam picked up the victory after hitting Barrett with his Five-Star Frog Splash for the pin.

-Justin Gabriel defeated Titus O’Neil via pinfall. Gabriel picked up the victory after hitting O’Neil with his 450 Splash for the pin. After the match, Fandango attacked Gabriel, setting up their match on Saturday’s live event, also in Johannesburg. Despite the attack from Fandango, however, Gabriel still managed to clean house.

-Randy Orton defeated Big E. Langston via pinfall. Orton picked up the victory after hitting Langston with his RKO for the pin. No copycat offenders here, so Orton’s “groin area” was safe in Johannesburg. Orton was said to be the most over with the fans at the Coca-Cola Dome on Friday night.

-Tons Of Funk & Funcadactyles defeated The Rhodes Scholars & Brie Bella. The gimmick here to explain Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes being on the same team was that the two were forced to team up due to pre-existing contract obligations. Regardless, Rhodes ended up abandoning Sandow, leaving him alone with the babyfaces. This allowed Brodus Clay to hit his Splash-finisher on Sandow for the pin.

-Sheamus defeated Jack Swagger via pinfall. Sheamus picked up the victory after hitting Swagger with his Brogue Kick for the pin. Apparently, Sheamus’ Brogue Kick spot received the loudest ovation of the night.

-Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler in a No Disqualification Match via pinfall. Del Rio picked up the victory after hitting Ziggler with his Super Kick for the pin. During the match, due to the No-DQ stipulation, tables and kendo sticks were among the weapons used. After the match, Del Rio cut a promo telling fans that they couldn’t leave until he told them to. This led to Ziggler attacking Del Rio and putting him through a table. Apparently there wasn’t a whole lot of heat for this match, as the fans didn’t seem to react to Del Rio or Ziggler as clear-cut babyfaces or heels. The crowd seemingly didn’t know if they were supposed to cheer or boo each guy.

11

TNA Impact Wrestling star Kurt Angle took to Twitter on Friday afternoon, following his DWI arrest, which occurred early Friday morning in Decatur, Texas.

“TNA and I Are Working to Get Me Better. I’m a fighter,” Angle wrote in a new tweet posted on his official Twitter account on Friday evening. “I’m Getting Help. Much Love,” Angle wrote in response to a fan. “I Will Beat this!” he tweeted to another fan. “I’m Human. It’s time for Me to Work On Me. GOD Bless.”

In addition to responses to fans and fellow wrestlers, such as Matt Hardy, Angle wrote a public tweet that read, “Thank You to All My friends Who Have Supported Me. GOD Bless!!! I Will Overcome this.”

Jim Ross Q&A: The Shield Breaking Up, Wyatt’s In-Ring Ability, U.S./I-C Title Unification

22

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has once again updated the Q&A section of his official website. Below are highlights:

On Goldberg’s new DVD and a match between he and The Undertaker: “The compliation Goldberg DVD will do good. I’ve not seen it but likely will check it out. Goldberg vs. Taker in their heyday would have been nice. Who wins would have depended on where and when it was but I’d lean toward Taker.”

On whether or not JR will ever start his own podcast: “Likely not. Too much work. :) Not enough money.”

On Bray Wyatt’s in-ring ability: “Many of us have seen him wrestle a great deal in NXT. He’s a keeper.”

On his favorite Mid-South Wrestling angles: “Had many favorites and am looking forward to the Mid South DVD WWE is releasing on Sept 10. Ted [DiBiase] and [Junkyard] Dog were hard to beat.”

On one-legged wrestler Zach Gowen’s WWE run: “He had great heart and passion.”

On Dean Ambrose’s potential when The Shield eventually breaks up: “The goal is always for any entity to have more sizzle and potential when they split and become single stars. Ambrose will be interesting to follow along with Rolins and Reigns.”

On if he feels the U.S. and Intercontinental Titles should be unified: “I don’t see the value in doing so. It’s not hard to make them both mean more.”

*Spoilers* WWE SmackDown Tapings Results (Airing 8/2)

40

WWE taped SmackDown for next week at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Thursday evening. Below are complete spoiler results.

Dark Match

-The Wyatt Family defeated Tons Of Funk

Lots of heat from the fans in Houston for the Wyatts. Erick Rowan hit a big splash on Brodus Clay. After that, Bray Wyatt got out of his rocking chair and finished off Clay. Wyatt then cut another one of his promos on Kane. Not a typical dark match, although they could have been re-taping a television match, as they had the SmackDown ring apron and lighting for this match, despite the fact that it was held prior to the Main Event taping. After this match, the Main Event ring apron was put up and next week’s Main Event show was filmed. Following the conclusion of the Main Event taping, the SmackDown ring apron went back up. Make of that what you will until further notice.

WWE SmackDown Taping

-In between Main Event and SmackDown, the WWE ring crew switched the apron covers, JBL and Josh Mathews headed to the back and Alex Riley and Michael Cole were introduced as the SmackDown broadcast team.

-WWE SmackDown opens with World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio coming out to the ring. Del Rio gets on the mic and says WWE Champion John Cena wasted his pick on Daniel Bryan because Cena is afraid of him. Del Rio says he’s chosen his SummerSlam opponent. Del Rio says he’ll face Ricardo Rodriguez. This brings out SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Vickie announces that tonight there will be a triple-threat match between Rob Van Dam, Randy Orton and Christian. The winner of the triple-threat match will be the challenger to Del Rio’s World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.

-Cody Rhodes defeated Jack Swagger

Not a lot in the way of details here. Was said to be a fairly quick match with Rhodes going over via pinfall with a sunset flip. After the match, Josh Mathews attempted to interview Rhodes. While talking, however, Rhodes was attacked from behind by his former tag-team partner and the current owner of the World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank briefcase, Damien Sandow.

-Big E. Langston defeated Sin Cara

Good match. This one was also kept relatively short. Pretty much what you would expect – Sin Cara attempting to utilize his quickness and agility, while Langston dominated him with power offense. The finish came when Sin Cara attempted a springboard spot, but Langston caught him and hit him with his finisher to pick up the 1-2-3.

-Backstage, Houston’s own Kaitlyn played to her hometown crowd ahead of her Divas Championship shot against current title-holder AJ Lee later tonight. Layla gave Kaitlyn a big hug for support.

-Backstage, we enter the General Manager office. Vickie Guerrero addresses World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio again. Before anything of note happens, RAW General Manager Brad Maddox enters the office. Maddox informs Guerrero that Del Rio will be under his authority on RAW next Monday night.

-CM Punk defeated Fandango

A video package featuring Fandango and CM Punk’s issues from “last week” airs prior to their one-on-one match, which is up next. The match got some time, as it went almost 12 minutes. The finish came when Punk suplexed Fandango and went right into the Vice. Fandango immediately tapped out, giving Punk the submission victory. Based on live reports, the match was said to be slow-paced, but very good for a television match.

-Backstage, Rob Van Dam was interviewed about his chance to earn a World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam in the triple-threat match scheduled for later tonight. Van Dam doesn’t say much before he is interupted by Christian. Christian as well doesn’t get the chance to say a whole lot before he too is interupted by Randy Orton. Orton mentions how he is not complacent with just having the Money In The Bank briefcase. Orton says he may just wind up with both the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. Van Dam and Christian disagree.

-AJ Lee defeated Kaitlyn to retain the Divas Championship

AJ Lee ended up retaining her Divas Championship over the hometown girl in this one. As is the case when a talent is in their hometown, WWE feels the need to either embarass the person or job them out. Tradition continued here, as Layla turned heel on Kaitlyn, costing her the match and the title. The finish came when Layla protected AJ on the floor, allowing her to apply the Black Widow on Kaitlyn for the submission victory. Match went a little over three minutes.

-A video package airs centered around WWE and the National Guard.

-Another video package airs, this time for Booker T. It was the same package that aired for Booker’s Hall Of Fame induction. Booker then came out on stage in the arena briefly, as they put over the fact that it was “Booker T Day” in Houston today.

-And finally, a third video aired promoting the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view in December, which will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the site of tonight’s taping.

-Rob Van Dam vs. Randy Orton vs. Christian (#1 Contender’s Match)

And we have our new number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship: Christian. Christian defeated Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton in the triple-threat match to earn the shot at Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam. The finish came when Orton hit an RKO on RVD. Following the RKO, Christian rolled Orton up for the 1-2-3. SmackDown went off the air with World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio attacking the new number one contender Christian.

*Spoilers* Impact Wrestling Results From For Next Week (8/8)

23

Bully Ray promo with Chris Sabin about the cage match at Hardcore Justice. Brooke Hogan came out with the contract and said if Bully lost he’ll never get another title match. Just like Sting a couple months ago. Ugh.

Jeff Hardy defeated Samoa Joe in a very good BFG match. I believe Mr. Anderson distracted Joe from the announce table but I’m not sure.

Mr. Anderson defeated Magnus in a BFG match after Bobby Roode came out & hit Anderson with a chair. That disqualified Magnus.

Tito Ortiz came out for a promo. Angle interrupted him to tell him he respected him. Bully Ray then came out & said he didn’t respect either of them. Dumb segment.

James Storm, Gunner, & ODB beat Bromance and Mickie James. Gail Kim attacked ODB afterwards and then Mickie got a cheap shot jn after.

Kaz and Daniels went to a double count out on purpose. Such a dumb finish. Then Roode came back out & announced a new faction with them 3. Cause that’s what TNA needs.

Chris Sabin and Kurt Angle defeated Team 3D. In a typical TNA move, Sting came out with Sabin and got by far the best pop of the night. But of course it was just a swerve for Angle to come from behind. Half the crowd left because of this.

Adam Pearce Posts Parody #August1Warning Video & Says “Sorry To Disappoint”

42

Adam Pearce posted a parody #August1Warning video today, playing off the rumors that he’s the mystery man who will debut on tonight’s live episode of TNA Impact Wrestling.

Using footage found in TNA’s #August1Warning videos, the camera pans to Pearce sitting on the toilet and then to an attractive woman laying on a bed. Pearce then looks into the camera and says:

“Sorry to disappoint, guys. I know it’s August 1st, but as you can see, I’ve got far more important things to handle.”

A minor warning – the video contains sexually suggestive material and some profanity on Pearce’s t-shirt:
