Adam Pearce On Exploiting #August1Warning Videos, TNA Gut Check, Colt Cabana

1

The following are highlights from a recent interview with Adam Pearce:

On rumors he was behind the #August1Warning videos: “I wasn’t surprised that a few people picked up on it. I was then crazily surprised that it seems like everybody assumed that I was going to behind those wonderful videos. … Within hours, I was obviously the guy!”

On his decision to exploit the attention received by the #August1Warning videos: “Within the first twelve hours. It was to the point where it wasn’t just fans and it wasn’t just online. I was getting texts from people who know me, and people who should know better. … If half the boys are thinking this, then why wouldn’t I use it?”

On what he expected from TNA Gut Check: “Reality television is scripted television. Pro Wrestling is scripted television. So why would ‘Reality Television within Pro Wrestling Television’ be anything other than scripted television.”

On his 7 Levels Of Hate series with Colt Cabana: “It’s a wrestling story from soup to nuts, except for all of the drama that happened 75% of the way throughout the series. I think people are going to be both surprised and really interested to see how things effected real life for guys like me and guys like Colt Cabana.”

HUGE Backstage News On How Kurt Angle’s DWI Arrest GREATLY Effects TNA’s Plans!

Mick Foley Talks About Daniel Bryan, The Attitude Era, Stand Up Comedy & More

15

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently spoke to Red Eye Chicago to promote his ongoing comedy tour. Here are some highlights of what the hardcore legend said about:

The TV-14 rating is still discussed as something the WWE could possibly go back to. Do you think the PG rating was the right decision by the company?

I really do. With the TV-14 there were a lot of sponsors the WWE couldn’t bring in because of the rating. I think it was frustrating when they were doing gigantic ratings and couldn’t draw the sponsors during the Attitude Era. They did great business during a horrible economic time and continue to draw adults to bring their children to watch the product.

Who was/is the funniest wrestler you know?

Well some of the funniest guys backstage couldn’t translate that humor to the ring. There’s a fine line that guys use their humor for their character and guys that use their humor to define their character. I think every guy who has been successful has used humor to build their career. There was one moment in Milwaukee, where basically there were five guys in the Main Event match that could not control their upheavals of laughter. The Rock gave me an image the night before and when it was time to deliver my promo, I couldn’t get that out of my mind.

In the past you have mentioned Daniel Bryan as being one of your favorite wrestlers to watch. Do you think he can take the same spot that John Cena has currently?

He is just on fire right now. He is so much fun to watch. Right now he is the best combination wrestler since probably Edge was at his peak. Edge, at that time, was stealing the show whether he was wrestling or not. I love the fact that the two guys fighting for that top spot at SummerSlam is Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. I know Punk likes and respects Daniel but he will do his best each and every night. Stone Cold was on record saying he wanted to steal every show. He and I were good friends but we both stole the show at different times through the years. There has to be some unique marketing abilities for Daniel, and I have an idea or two I would like to pass WWE’s way. He would be one of the stars of my next children’s book if and when it gets published.

Steve Austin Interview: Daniel Bryan Having The “It Factor”, Cena’s In-Ring Work & More

11

Stone Cold Steve Austin gives his thoughts on Daniel Bryan, Cena, and Ring of Honor in an Interview on AfterBuzz TV

Los Angeles, CA –(afterbuzztv.com)– “Stone Cold” Steve Austin made an appearance on AfterBuzz TV’s Smackdown and Redneck Island aftershows Sunday night. In his appearance, Austin gives his thoughts on Daniel Bryan, John Cena and Ring of Honor. He also talks about how the industry has changed since his time. Links to Steve Austin’s interview can be found at YouTube & iTunes.

Here’s what Steve Austin said about:

How Wrestling Has Changed: “It’s a different game out there right now. These kids aren’t getting enough time to tell the whole story….the product inside the ring is at a more accelerated pace, so what comes with that is not total selling of everything you can sell. You do something to elicit a response…It’s a short attention span theater and guys are moving faster than I’d like them to be, they’re overselling a lot of stuff in the wrong way and underselling stuff in the wrong way as well,” says Austin, “Everybody seems to be coming from the same camp these days. That has its pros and its cons.”

Ring of Honor: “I like Ring of Honor, but sometimes these guys overwork themselves and try to go too much into the nuances, the shoulder slapping and the pulling up of the trunks, you know the little time fillers…They almost go back to a caricature of what was real deal wrestling. I do like the product.”

Daniel Bryan Having The “It Factor”: “You’ve got to have it. You look at a cat like Daniel Brian, who is a hard worker, can wrestler, can tell a great story. The it factor was undiscovered. It has been discovered and now this kid is having great success with super strong talent.”

John Cena’s Ring Work: “Cena can have a great match with anybody, but he needs somebody who can bring it out of him.”

Original Plans For WrestleMania XXX Main Event Reportedly Dropped

58

The rumored Wrestlemania 30 main event between a heel Triple H against a returning “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (who would be wrestling on behalf of Vince McMahon) appears to have been scrapped. It’s unknown at this time why WWE has decided to go in a different direction – and whether this is any indication that Steve Austin won’t be wrestling on the show.

The Rock has been discussed as a possible replacement for Steve Austin in the match, but there’s no guarantee that he’ll ever wrestle again either.

The original storyline plan called for Vince McMahon, Stephanie and Triple H to “reunite” at SummerSlam – with Triple H and Stephanie turning heel later this year to set up a big power struggle against Vince.

Whether or not Steve Austin or The Rock wrestle at next year’s WrestleMania, the latest McMahon Family feud will be one of WWE’s top angles building up to (and culminating at) WrestleMania XXX.

Sheamus Comments On Shoulder Injury, How Long He’ll Be Out, Rehab

25

As reported earlier, WWE Superstar Sheamus will be out of action for four-to-six months due to a shoulder injury he suffered at the WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

Sheamus took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to confirm the injury and the amount of time he’ll be out of action. Sheamus wrote:

Well. @WWE will be a lot less Cetlic for up to half-a-year, me #MITB shoulder is banjacked… No tears. It’s not me drinking arm.

Following the initial tweet, Sheamus posted another message on his Twitter account revealing details on the rehab process he will need to go through to fix up the injured arm. This time, he wrote:

Shoulder rehab includes repeatedly lifting a 1lb weight OR 16 fluid ounces. A pint of Guinness is 16oz. An Irish cure @WWEDocSampson?

Daniel Bryan Talks About Being “Too Small”, John Cena, SummerSlam & More

25

Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by Sky Sports to promote his upcoming WWE title match against John Cena at SummerSlam. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

What Winning The WWE Title Would Mean To Him:

“It would be incredible. That is every kid’s dream. They grow up wanting to be a WWE Superstar and to be the WWE Champion, winning it at something like SummerSlam. I grew up watching SummerSlam and some of my favourite matches ever have been on SummerSlam; Bret Hart wrestling Davey Boy Smith in ’92 and Shaun Michaels wrestling Vader in ’96. SummerSlam has been home to some of the greatest main events in WWE history and I’m looking forward to being part of that tradition.”

What He Thinks About John Cena:

“I really do respect him. We did 219 WWE live events last year and most of those are untelevised and in most of those shows when Cena is on he’s the main event. He goes out there and works his butt off and he does it against the big boys, wrestling for 20 minutes against Ryback or Mark Henry or Big Show. He goes out there night after night and has to end the show on a high note – and for the most part, every night he does it. I have a tremendous amount of respect for a guy who’s been able to do that for the last 10 years.”

Critics Saying He’s Too Small To Be WWE Champion:

“I don’t think there is a right size or a right image. I feel like if there’s somebody who captures the minds of the WWE Universe then they should be given an opportunity. I’m not saying that I’ll succeed, all I’m saying is that if you give me an opportunity to go out there and try my best and do what I do best then we’ll see what happens. I’ve never asked to be given anything, so let me go out there and prove that I belong there. I’ll go out and prove that I can do it.”

Jim Neidhart Speaks On His Daughter Natalya, Total Divas, Desire To Return To WWE

11

The following are highlights from a recent interview with one-half of the legendary “Hart Foundation” tag-team, and the father of current WWE Diva and Total Divas star Natalya, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart:

On his role in E Television’s Total Divas Show: “We did 8 episodes. My daughter will be getting married on there. (E Television) is so happy with the way that the stories are going. It’s really good reality. The WWE hires girls with top personalties.”

On the current crop of WWE Divas: “These divas not only have looks and personality, but they can wrestle too. You have to be able to wrestle. They’re all very good athletic wrestlers, and they’re all well spoken. I couldn’t be more proud of my daughter and her success.”

On his desire to work with WWE again: “I really, really, really want to sign a WWE Legends contract. (I hope that being back on mainstream TV) will help the WWE take notice.”

Jim Ross Q&A: Total Divas Scripted?, Austin’s Infamous Walk-Out, Lawler, More

17

The following are highlights from yet another Q&A from the official website of WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On whether or not Total Divas is scripted: “What reality show on TV isn’t scripted to some degree? I can answer that…none of them that I’ve seen.”

On working with Jerry Lawler: “Jerry is very easy to work with and is a light hearted, fun person to be around. He’s like family to me.”

On whether or not WWE will run a second season of Total Divas: “A 2nd season of Total Divas likely depends on how the first season goes.”

On Steve Austin’s infamous walk-out on WWE in 2002: “Steve had a legit issue but I felt like he handled it wrong.”

The Rock Becomes Latest Celebrity To Join The “Milk Mustache” Campaign

5

The following press release was issued on Tuesday:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Powers Up with Protein to Save the Day

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Actor, producer, athlete and author Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows the importance of protein to fuel his days – juggling work, family time and fitness. With no time to slow down, he starts each morning with milk to help power his potential and set the stage for whatever the world may throw his way.

In his first print ad with the National Milk Mustache “got milk?®” Campaign, Johnson is seen saving a young girl’s cat from a tree while sporting the iconic Milk Mustache.

The ad is a continuation of the story Johnson brought to life in the campaign’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial this year, sharing what happened after he saved the morning meal – and the world – with milk.

The ad copy reads, “Protein to save the day. 8 grams in every 8-oz. glass. got milk?”

Including milk with breakfast is a healthy habit that has helped Johnson save the day on more than one occasion. The winning breakfast beverage contains high-quality protein – 8 grams in every 8-oz. glass – and tastes great, making it an ideal way for Johnson and his family to start the day.

“I always look at protein as the anchor to my day,” said Johnson, “My entire family’s morning is anchored by protein, protein comes from milk. Breakfast without milk is like a Rock movie without Rock saving the world.”

Visit TheBreakfastProject.com or www.facebook.com/MilkMustache and follow @MilkMustache on Twitter to join the Milk Mustache community and stay up-to-date on the latest Milk Mustache celebrity news. Jim Ross Blog: WWE Title Situation, Punk vs. Lesnar, Wyatt vs. Kane

5

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

WWE Title Situation: There seems to be multiple twists and turns as to where the WWE Title situation may evolve. With the McMahon Family involved, the likely show closing main event could end in a myriad of manners. Obviously one can’t omit MITB winner Randy Orton from this scenario either.

CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar: Loved the physicality of the Punk- Lesnar business in Title Town, sorry, Packer haters. I expect to see plenty of slobber knockers from these two at Summer Slam. Both men like to be physical and to push their adversaries to the limit which endears both to me. What if I said that I think that this match could well end in a submission, would you think that I’m Pet Coon goofy? Never say never in the WWE as both men love to look for tapouts. Is it likely? Probaly not but it certainly could happen.

Paul Heyman: Paul Heyman could certainly be the wild card in this match and one has to assume that Happy Heyman will be involved to some degree. To what degree could determine how this first meeting of Punk and Lesnar ends. By first meeting, I hope/expect there to be another one on one wrestling match between the two.

Bray Wyatt vs. Kane: HUGE opportunity awaits Bray Wyatt at S’Slam vs. Kane. Curious to see how the newcomer responds under the summer lights of a major PPV. I’m thinking that he will do well. It’s in his genes.

(Spoilers) WWE SmackDown Taping Results For August 9, 2013

43

The following are spoiler results from this week’s WWE SmackDown television tapings. The show, which will air Friday on SyFy, was taped before a live audience on Tuesday, August 6th in Rockford, Illinois.

WWE SmackDown (Air Date: Friday, August 9, 2013)

-Randy Orton defeated Rob Van Dam. Both guys seemed to be equally over as babyfaces with the crowd. In the end, the finish came when Orton hit RVD with the RKO for the pin. Orton was in control of the offense for the majority of the match. The RKO was set up after RVD missed a Five Star Frogsplash attempt. Was said to be a pretty good match, and they gave it some time.

-MizTV with Big E. Langston and AJ Lee was up next. As the two were being interviewed, Dolph Ziggler came out to interrupt them. After that, Kaitlyn came out to interrupt as well. Due to the fact that he is the host of SummerSlam this year, The Miz decided to book a match on the fly. It will be Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn in a mixed-tag match against Big E. Langston and AJ Lee at SummerSlam. This led to Langston and Lee attacking Ziggler and Kaitlyn. In the end, Ziggler and Kaitlyn made a comeback and hit their respective finishers on the heels to leave them laying. That wrapped up the MizTV segment for this week.

-Fandango defeated Kofi Kingston. Kingston received a pretty impressive pop from the fans in Rockford. In the end, the finish came when Fandango hit his sweet-looking leg-drop off the top rope for the clean pinfall victory.

-Daniel Bryan defeated Wade Barrett. Following Monday’s RAW, Barrett is now clean shaven. He’s got his opponent in tonight’s match to thank for it, as he squares off with Daniel Bryan. Decent match, but it was kept relatively short. Maybe five minutes. In the end, the finish came when Bryan forced Barrett to tap out with the “No! Lock” for the victory.

-Kane defeated 3MB (Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) in a 3-On-1 Handicap Match. Crowd was all over 3MB, boo’ing the hell out of them from the get-go. This one didn’t last long, as “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” managed to defeat all three members of 3MB in a 3-on-1 handicap match in just over one minute. In the end, the finish came when Kane chokeslammed Mahal for the clean pinfall victory. After the match, The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper) appeared on the titantron. Bray Wyatt cut a promo on Kane. Typical Wyattt promo.

-Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio in a Non-Title match. This was the longest match of the night thus far, as it went about 20 minutes. In the end, the finish came when Christian rolled Del Rio up for the pin. Was said to be a really excellent match. After the match, Christian left Del Rio in the ring and walked to the back. As everyone thought the match was over, Damien Sandow hit the ring with his briefcase in hand. Before the bell could ring to make the match official, Cody Rhodes charged the ring and attacked Sandow. Rhodes came off the top rope and hit him with a flying body press. No briefcase cash-in here, just the first of what will probably be several teases.

(Spoilers) WWE Main Event Taping Results For August 7, 2013

6

The following are results from the WWE Main Event television taping, which was held prior to the WWE SmackDown television taping on Tuesday night in Rockford, Illinois.

Dark Match:

-Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro defeated Brodus Clay and Tensai. At one point in the match, Cesaro showed off his strength by performing an excellent gut-wrench suplex on Tensai. In the end, the finish came when Cesaro hit The Neutralizer on Clay for the pinfall victory.

WWE Main Event:

-The Shield defeated Mark Henry and The Usos. Pretty long match. Went about 15 minutes. The Usos took turns in the ring for the babyfaces early on, mostly selling the beatdown being laid on them by The Shield. Eventually, Henry got the hot tag and the crowd popped for him pretty huge. In the end, the babyfaces got the victory.

-Natalya defeated Aksana. Not the greatest match you’ll ever see, but pretty much what you’d expect from a Divas match. In the end, Natalya forced Aksana to tap out to the Sharpshooter. Match went about five minutes or so.

-Curtis Axel defeated Sin Cara. Another lengthy match, a little under ten minutes. The crowd stuck with it despite it being the second of two pretty long matches early on in a long night of tapings. In the end, Axel picked up the victory with his finisher.
