Jim Ross Blogs About Cena vs. Punk, Trump In WWE’s HOF, Physical HOF Building

8

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Donald Trump’s WWE Hall of Fame Induction & A Physical HOF Building:

“Still amazes me that many seemingly sane people can’t differentiate from being inducted into the WWE HOF as a wrestler, etc over the honorary, celeb status. I have written about this in the past and am getting tired of responding to many knuckleheads on Twitter @JRsBBQ on the topic.”

“I will say that WWE definitely NEEDS a building to house the HOF combined with a WWE Museum and I feel that will happen in the future. So much goes into a facility such as this as it is a MAJOR undertaking as one can imagine. The location is vital, an adequate building is a must, the right staff and curator can influence success or failure, acquiring items for display are crucial and these are just some of the issues. I would bet my last black hat that it happens sooner than later but only when all the moving parts have been addressed. Until then many will continue to bitch about who’s in the WWE HOF and why their favorite isn’t….and so it goes.”

John Cena vs. CM Punk on RAW: “Two points on this tremendous, main event, 1. Cena added some new wrinkles to his game that might silence some of his narrow minded critics for a few days and 2. Punk was working with the flu and hampered by jet lag from a long flight to Dallas from Istanbul on the last day of a grueling, three day international tour. I watched the match live on TV and it is the first match in a long time that I’ve gone back and watched again on DVR.”

Stephanie McMahon Joins Twitter, The Rock Done Filming In Panama & More

17

– The Rock noted on Twitter that he has finished filming his TNT show “The Hero” in Panama.

Speaking of the WWE Champion, several entertainment news sites are reporting that his big “Hercules” movie will now open on July 25th, 2014, two weeks earlier than the original release date.

– Devin Cutting sent along word that the WWE Smackdown taping on May 21st will be held in Omaha, Nebraska at the Century Link Center. Tickets go on sale March 9th.

– Stephanie McMahon has joined Twitter and can be followed @StephMcMahon. Triple H tweeted on Wednesday afternoon:

Stephanie re-tweeted that message and responded:

Big Update On The Undertaker’s WWE TV Return & WrestleMania 29 Status

78

Following his surprise return at Saturday night’s WWE live event from Waco, Texas, The Undertaker’s television return is imminent and could take place as soon as Monday’s “Old School” RAW.

The long-rumored Undertaker vs. CM Punk match at WrestleMania will in fact be taking place – and now WWE’s creative team is rushing to fast-track the feud with just over 5 weeks until the pay-per-view. WWE already got the ball rolling on Monday’s RAW, when CM Punk cut a promo talking about being a wrestling icon above all other Superstars and God.

One big issue with Punk’s match against The Undertaker is that he’s now lost 3 high profile matches – against The Rock at the Royal Rumble & Elimination Chamber and against John Cena on Monday’s RAW. Punk remains one of WWE’s top draws, but there is concern that another big loss could affect his perception with fans.

Chris Jericho Talks about Triple H Gaining Power Backstage In WWE

11

WWE superstar Chris Jericho appeared on Konnan’s MLW Radio show this week and had this to say about Triple H gaining power backstage in WWE:

“It’s a changing of the guard. We’re in a transitional period right now between bosses. Vince is handing the reigns over to Triple H and Triple H has a lot of responsibilities and a lot of power now and it’s going to keep increasing because eventually Vince is going to give it up and stop. I don’t know if he’ll do it until he dies. I think over the next two or three years Triple H will be making most of the big decisions and Vince will be brought on as a consultant.

I know for this deal that I made to come back this time, I talked completely with Triple H. I didn’t talk with Vince at all and I’d always talked to Vince about any deal I ever had. Triple H is pretty much the boss, although Vince is always going to be the boss. But Triple H is in charge of more and more and more and developmental is a big part of that.

To be honest with you, he’s doing a great job. In the early 90s it’s no secret there was no love lost between he and I. We didn’t like each other, we didn’t get along. We had great matches, but there was always a personality issue. That stopped years and years ago and now I consider Triple H a pretty good friend. I’ll be completely flatly honest, I think he’s the right guy to take over the company. I think he’s prepared for it. He’s learning a lot about how to be the corporate guy. There’s so much more than just calling finishes and signing guys. He’s got to run the whole corporate side of it. Go to all the meetings, do all that stuff. I think it’s in very good hands if Vince ever retires or passes away.”

Exclusive Backstage News On Vince McMahon’s Meltdown At RAW & Who Almost Lost Their Job

83

The big talk backstage at Tuesday night’s WWE Smackdown tapings is what some of the wrestlers who were at RAW are describing to us as a “total shoot” in which Vince McMahon stormed out of the arena at the conclusion of RAW because of the piledriver spot John Cena and CM Punk did in their match last night.

It is being said that at one point, Arn Anderson (who was the producer of the match) was concerned about losing his job. John Cena apparently smoothed things over with Vince, who was already in his limo leaving by the time Cena came back into the Gorilla position after the match.

While the piledriver aired on WWE’s own YouTube channel, it is not known how many were aware of Vince’s anger over the spot, which we have been told is being described as something that got “lost in the translation.”

Here’s footage of the piledriver CM Punk delivered to John Cena:

John Cena Tops ESPN’s WWE Power Rankings, ESPN Questions Swagger’s Push

38

ESPN.com has released their weekly WWE Power Rankings and John Cena jumped to the top of the charts after barely breaking the top 10 last week (9). Following Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, here’s a look at this week’s ESPN.com WWE Power Rankings:

1. John Cena
2. CM Punk
3. Triple H
4. Brock Lesnar
5. Ryback
6. Randy Orton
7. Sheamus
8. Mark Henry
9. The Shield
10. Jack Swagger

The article noted the “awkward” wet spot on Triple H’s pants during his brawl with Brock Lesnar and gave big props to John Cena and CM Punk for their stellar main event match. The article also questioned WWE’s decision to continue pushing Jack Swagger’s after he was arrested for DUI and drug possession last week:

“So does WWE have a wellness policy or not? How can Swagger get arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana last week and not only avoid suspension, but star in multiple segments on Raw? Weed the People.”

MVP Done With NJPW & Says He Would Work For WWE Or TNA

24

Former WWE Superstar MVP announced that he’s done wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He tweeted on Tuesday morning:

“I would like to thank New Japan for allowing me to realize a dream! I LOVE Japan & will forever be grateful! I left on good terms as always.”

“I WILL return to wrestling eventually. The door is open for a return to WWE, NJPW & even TNA. However my focus now is developing my TV show.”

MVP has been wrestling for New Japan since 2011 and wrestled his final match for the promotion on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome. He also tweeted the following about his new TV project and says he’s currently a free agent:

“I’m currently working on a TV project with Lionsgate TV. I’ll release more details soon. But right now I’m not affiliated with ANY company. And for the record my show has NOTHING to do with wrestling. I’m excited about it. The people at Lionsgate TV have been awesome!”

Jim Ross Blog: Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar, Glenn Beck, Donald Trump In The WWE HOF

18

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Glenn Beck not appearing on RAW: “I did not miss Glenn Beck not appearing on RAW. As I’ve said, I’m not a political animal and I hadn’t even heard Glen Beck’s name mentioned since he exited CNN. I’d suggest that Beck got more publicity over this WWE business than he has for any thing else that’s happened in his career except when Bill Maher occasionally makes fun of him on Maher’s HBO show.”

Video: Michael Cole Attempts To Speak To Glenn Beck

Donald Trump in the WWE Hall of Fame: “Amazes me how some who follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ or hit our Q&A section of the site can differentiate a WWE HOF induction for a celeb from an active participant. Donald Trump going in the ‘celebrity wing’ is essentially an honorary award and should not be confused with someone like Bruno or even a broadcaster like Mean Gene Okerlund. However for some reason there are many who feel that Trump is going into the WWE HOF over say, for instance, Macho Man Randy Savage, etc. That’s simply NOT the case but many refuse to want to understand this matter. BTW Donald Trump made many contributions to WWE including WM’s 4&5 and his involvement in the hair match with Mr. McMahon at WM23 did huge business.”

Video: Donald Trump’s WWE Hall of Fame Announcement

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar: “I am hopeful that HHH vs. Lesnar is a major part of WM29 and I have NO issues with this or any other viable match being a ‘return’ contest. Those that have issues with big time matches having a second go around have issues that I honestly can’t fully fathom. I can’t think of too many, major WWE main events that haven’t had a return match with the exception of a small handful. This concept has been around since before I got in the business in 1974 and is a viable part of the fabric of what sports entertainment is.”
