WWE RAW opens up with a recap of The Shield’s reign of terror in WWE and their confrontation with John Cena, Sheamus & Ryback last week. Plus – The Rock is in the house.

In the arena, Paul Heyman is in the ring and introduces himself. He says this is not how he envisioned things going down – but it’s something he feels compelled to do. He says – tonight is the last time we’re ever going to see Paul Heyman. He may be a lot of things, but he’ll never play the victim. Everything he’s ever done, it’s been with great passion and with great sacrifice. He admits that his passions usually end up betraying him. He’s sacrificed everything to give the fans ECW, he came to WWE for Brock Lesnar’s first run and more recently, he saw a man that could carry WWE into the future and even surpass Bruno Sammartino’s legacy – CM Punk. He can see the future – and something really bad is going to happen here, not just to him, but onto everybody around him, including CM Punk. Paul gets emotional as he said Punk needs to be focused and he’s become a distraction for Punk. The sins of the mentor will befall upon his protege – and he can’t let that happen. For that reason, he must tender his resignation. He can’t believe the fans aren’t upset to see him go – and he says he won’t miss them either. Punk needs to be focused on becoming WWE Champion again, he loves Punk and he needs to leave so Punk can fulfill his destiny.

Vince thinks Paul had something to do with Brock Lesnar attacking him. Punk says he won’t allow Heyman to quit. Punk says everybody looks up to Heyman, just like he does. Heyman says Vince McMahon is going to make their lives hell and he needs to leave. Punk says he won’t allow Heyman to leave. This Sunday will be the 455th day of his WWE title reign and Paul Heyman will be in his corner this Sunday when he regains what is rightfully his. Heyman’s face lights up. Heyman says Punk is right. Punk will win the WWE title this weekend and the two embrace in an emotional hug. Paul looks to the sky and says “thank you” as he tells CM Punk that he’s the Best in the World. Jerry Lawler says Paul Heyman was just trying to upstage the Pope by quitting. Considering CM Punk’s comments about the Pope today, maybe that wasn’t the best comparison!

Booker T says Jericho has to wrestle Daniel Bryan tonight – and if he wins, he’s in the match. Jericho says Daniel Bryan’s good and has a great beard. Jericho says he accepts and says this Sunday, he’ll be the 7-time, 7-time, 7-time World Heavyweight champion. Now can you dig that, sucka?!

Vickie Guerrero is shown backstage and Paul Heyman approaches her. Paul Heyman says Vickie should add a stipulation to the Rock vs. CM Punk WWE Championshp match this Sunday. Vickie’s phone rings and it’s Mr. McMahon. She puts Vince on speaker. Paul Heyman tells Vince he’s sorry for Brock Lesnar’s actions and he knows Vince is making a Hurculean effort to recover. Vince calls Heyman a weasel and asks what he has in mind for the stipulation. Heyman says The Rock has a huge ego and will do anything to win – including getting counted out or disqualified. 4

Ever since its inception, TNA Lockown has been a pay-per-view where every single match on the card has taken place inside of a steel cage. This year, it appears things are changing.

During a recent interview with Machinima Sports, TNA star Kazarian revealed that this year’s Lockdown will not feature all cage matches:

“I’m not sure this year, the format may change. I think we may have a probably a Lethal Lockdown match and maybe perhaps the main event I’m not. I’m not sure they are doing the all-cage format this year.”

Paul Heyman To Make The “Announcement Of A Lifetime” On RAW

8

Paul Heyman posted the following video on Tout on Monday evening, promising the “announcement of a lifetime” at the start of tonight’s WWE RAW:

SmackDown Does A Strong Rating, War Games At Elimination Chamber?

22

– Friday’s 2/8 edition of WWE SmackDown scored a big 2.16 rating with 3.19 million viewers, up approximately 7% from the week before. This was the best overall viewership for a first-run Friday night Smackdown in a full year (2/10/12). SmackDown ranked #3 on cable for the night.

Meanwhile, The Rock’s 2007, “Game Plan,” which went head-to-head with SmackDown on the Disney Channel, drew 4.22 million viewers.

– Following Ryback’s Monday afternoon tweet that The Shield will be serviced justice this Sunday “inside the chamber,” PWInsider.com reports that the match will in fact take place inside the Elimination Chamber. This would be the first time a six-man tag match has taken place inside the Chamber.

The report suggests the match will be held under traditional “War Games” rules, where the match starts with two competitors in the ring and at each interval, a new superstar (from either team) enters the match. This typically results in one of the teams having more men in the ring, which adds to the chaos of the match.

Ryback Teases Second Elimination Chamber Match This Sunday & More

– Ryback tweeted the following about his 6-man tag match at Elimination Chamber this Sunday:

https://twitter.com/Ryback22/status/301056234319134720

Ryback teams up with John Cena & Sheamus against The Shield. Ryback’s comment about being justice being delivered “in the chamber” implies the 6-man tag will be an Elimination Chamber match, a stipulation that we will probably see announced tonight on RAW.

CM Punk Calls The Pope A Nazi On Twitter

104

Not one to back down from making controversial tweets, WWE Superstar CM Punk is at it again. In response to the news that Catholic Pope Benedict XVI is stepping down due to health issues related to his advanced age (85), Punk re-tweeted a message from a fan who wrote, “The pope resigned? I did nazi that coming.” and called the joke “Magic.”

Another fan replied Punk’s tweet, writing, “Ouch. That’s an envelope-pushing tweet for a company employee…” Punk fired back:

https://twitter.com/cmpunk/status/301061459440463872

Punk has since replied to another fan, telling him to “unfollow” him if he takes issue with what he has to say.

Pope Benedict has been criticized for his involvement in the “Hitler Youth” program in Nazi Germany during the late 1930’s. The Pope has defended his participation in the group, saying that all all children growing up in Germany at the time had no choice but to swear their allegiance to the fascist leader.

The historical facts are what they are … but one has to question one of WWE’s top superstars explicitly stating the “Pope was a Nazi” on Twitter ..

Heat On The Miz For CM Punk’s Injury Scare? RAW DVR Issue for Tonight

28

– Several readers have sent in word that their cable providers’ TV guides are listing tonight’s RAW as 3 separate shows (each hour being displayed individually, instead of one 3-hour block). This will cause issues with fans attempting to DVR tonight’s show. So far, we’ve heard Comcast, RCN and Charter are experiencing the issue.

** If you DVR RAW, double check that you have the whole show set to record!

– According to WWE sources, CM Punk was definitely banged up at Saturday night’s WWE live event from Springfield, Missouri when The Miz botched a suplex and nearly dropped Punk directly on his head. It’s not believed that Punk suffered a concussion, but it was a nasty bump that could have aggravated some other issues Punk has been dealing with. He’s expected to work tonight’s RAW and for those wondering, there does not appear to be any heat on The Miz following the incident.

G4 Network Re-Branded & How It Affects WWE, OVW Stars Who Changed WWE

5

WWE.com has launched a photo gallery of “The Kids from OVW that Changed WWE.” Ohio Valley Wrestling, once the developmental territory of WWE, produced some of the industry’s top performers, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton & Batista. OVW is now the developmental system for TNA.

WWE.com has also published a top 10 list of the most dateable Superstars & Divas.

– NBC Universal announced on Monday that they are partnering with Esquire Magazine to re-brand their G4 cable network. The new “Esquire Channel” will launch soon as “an upscale Bravo for men.” The news is relevant to the wrestling world because as recently as last summer, WWE was interested in purchasing G4 in hopes of re-branding it as the WWE Network. One of WWE’s biggest hurdles in launching the WWE Network has been getting clearances from cable companies – and acquiring G4 would have helped with that.

As noted over the weekend, satellite provider DirecTV is surveying their subscribers regarding the launch of a new premium, subscription-based WWE Network that would run original programming, classic footage and all live WWE pay-per-views except for WrestleMania.

At one point, the UFC was also interested in buying G4 to launch their own network.

8

WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper was recently interviewed by fan questions on WrestleNewz.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His Son Colt Wrestling & If He’ll Ever Join WWE:

“There’s always the question whether a wrestler has “it.” What “it” is — that’s never defined, because there’s not a better word for it. Call it chemistry, call it charisma: there are different ways to describe it. But whatever “it” is, Colt has it. He’s a natural. Now comes the question of what Colt decides to do with it. I’m trying to mostly stay away from it. His name is Colt Toombs. He is undefeated as an MMA fighter as an amateur, and he always fights under his real name, Toombs. He’s making his own headway, on his own terms, with his own name. And I’m extremely proud of him. He is wrestling in a league called Portland Wrestling Uncut, and various groups. He was supposed to wrestle Daivari in Santiago, Chile, but unfortunately the show got canceled because they couldn’t provide the proper security. He’s doing great, though. I don’t want to give away any of his future plans. But you won’t miss him! He’ll be coming at you, oh yeah.”

WWE Stars With The Most Potential & Who He’d Want To Wrestle:

“Of the current generation? Oh my goodness, they’re all fantastic. Randy Orton, CM Punk, Jericho — I don’t want to leave anybody out. Cody Rhodes is great. So many guys nowadays are fantastic, so I can’t pick just one! But who would I want to have a match with? (Long pause) Brock Lesnar.”

Who Will Play Him In The Movie About His Life?

“Mark Wahlberg. He’s already been approached. I’m telling you, they have a script already. You know, my head’s just not there right now. But there are definitely two scripts that I know of. One is by Sal (Iacono), the head writer for the Jimmy Kimmel show. And there’s another one that I know of, and Mark Wahlberg is the man they were talking about for that. And I think that he’d be a good pick.”

Another CM Punk Injury Update, Ziggler & AJ Doing Media In Nashville

25

– As noted earlier, CM Punk suffered an injury scare in a spot with The Miz at Saturday’s live event. While Punk insists he’s fine and did wrestle the following night, there is concern within WWE that the situation could be worse than he’s letting on and he could be hiding an injury because he doesn’t want to miss any time during WrestleMania season.
