Ric Flair’s Role In WWE, TNA Mourns The Passing Of Paul Bearer

17

– Following Ric Flair’s return to WWE television on Monday’s RAW, don’t expect the 2-time Hall of Famer to do much physical action in his future appearances.

Flair threw a few chops at Big E Langston on RAW and did his post-match celebration where he strutted around and gave elbow drops to the canvas, but WWE is still concerned about Ric Flair’s health following the blood clot he suffered last month in Japan.

– TNA posted the following on their website this morning:

“TNA joins the entire wresting world in mourning the passing of Bill Moody – better known as Paul Bearer in WWE as the manager of The Undertaker, and Percy Pringle during his time with TNA. Throughout his career, Moody was one of the most respected veterans in professional wrestling. He will be missed by millions of fans around the world, as well as his friends that worked with him in both WWE and TNA.

Superstar Billy Graham Says He Wants To Be Removed From The WWE Hall Of Fame

28

WWE Hall of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham has published a new Facebook post explaining why he wants WWE to remove him from the Hall of Fame:

“In 2011 I became one unhappy retired wrestler when WWE inducted into its Hall of Fame Abdullah the Butcher (Larry Shreve). Not just because Shreve had never worked for the WW(W)F or stepped foot inside Madison Square Garden, not just because my good friend Randy “Macho Man” Savage was passed over in the honors list of that year, but because Abdullah actually is a butcher in a disturbingly real sense.

Now we all know that pro wrestling is largely make-believe. The trouble is that many of us end up losing the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality. The temptation to become in real life the characters we create in the ring can sometimes become just too overwhelming. I’m afraid that’s the case with this WWE Hall of Fame inductee. For decades Larry Shreve has played the blood-lusting Abdullah the Butcher, a maniac psychotic enough to qualify as a Canadian-born Hitler, another Fuehrer.

Well, losing touch with reality is one thing; losing respect for other wrestlers’ rights is another, and in my view the “Butcher” has blotted his copybook big time by becoming a suspected spreader of Hepatitis C through his negligence when blading in the ring. The Butcher, who is Hepatitis C positive Genotype 2 is currently facing allegations of negligence, assault and battery in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice stemming from an unsanitary blade assault in a 2007 professional wrestling match. Nicholson is being represented by Ronald Caza in the case. Caza, of the Caza Saikaley law firm is one of Canada’s most eminent lawyers.

In this link (youtube.com/watch?v=0rN4FI8yqq8) you will see how Shreve, in a match against Hannibal (Devon Nicholson), cut his own head with a razor blade and then cut the forehead of the unsuspecting Nicholson. It’s alleged that the end result of this assault was Nicholson, a healthy young man at the time who was just beginning a promising career, contracting Hepatitis C. How many others wrestlers have contracted Hepatitis C thanks to Abdullah’s indifference to the danger he poses regularly to his fellow workers? Nicholson is now in the middle of a 9 month regimen with disturbing side effects to rid him of this disease.

In my opinion every time “The Butcher” behaves in this utterly irresponsible way, cutting the foreheads of other wrestlers, it is as if he is attempting murder, because the fact is the Hepatitis C can kill. I take no pleasure at all in saying this. Larry Shreve was once a friend of mine and it has saddened me to see him sink into such anti-social behavior. But right is right and wrong is wrong and never the twain shall meet. WWE, with its powerful influence on our vulnerable youth in these increasingly immoral times, should be strongly condemning life-threatening gimmicks in the ring, not rewarding them, and Larry Shreve needs to take stock of his actions and the tragic effects they have had on others. The world of pro wrestling is a rough and tough one, and none of us has a lily-white record when it comes to personal behavior. But carelessly spreading a deadly disease in the name of “entertainment” is beyond a joke. So hopefully now you will all have a better understanding of exactly why I asked WWE to remove my name from the WWE Hall of Fame list when Abdullah was inducted two years ago.

Superstar Billy Graham”

Wrestlemania Retrospective – Wrestlemania (1985)

11

Join us on SEscoops.com as we look back at WrestleMania’s of years past!

Wrestlemania1WrestleMania (1985)
Date: March 31, 1985

Hall Of Famers: Tito Santana, Ricky Steamboat, Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Andre the Giant, Big John Studd, Wendi Richter, Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Piper, and Paul Orndorff.

In 1983, Hulk Hogan was fired from the WWF for appearing in Rocky III. Vince J. McMahon felt it was a breach of contract (it may also have been part of the hype for the upcoming event). However, the notoriety Hulk received from being in the movie forced McMahon to welcome him back in 1984. In a nice promotional move McMahon then hired Hulk’s Rocky III costar Mr T to wrestle as Hulk’s tag team partner in the main event.

WrestleMania Results

• Tito Santana defeated The Executioner
• King Kong Bundy defeated S D Jones – The Match was 23 seconds, but announced subsequently to be 9 seconds.

CM Punk Tops ESPN’s Power Rankings Again, Last Match At WM29

18

ESPN.com has updated their weekly WWE Power Rankings and once again, CM Punk tops the list. Here’s this week’s Top 10:

1. CM Punk
2. The Undertaker
3. Ryback
4. The Rock
5. Triple H
6. The Sheild
7. The Miz
8. John Cena
9. Mark Henry
10. Alberto Del Rio

The article speculates whether CM Punk vs. The Undertaker will be the final match at WrestleMania, writing:

“That’s a notion that would’ve seemed ludicrous a few months ago, especially considering the popularity of The Rock. But after seeing the boring exchange between Rock and Cena on Monday night (other than Rock’s great line about Lance Armstrong), I think, once again, you have to go back and credit Punk for creating the fire and intensity behind the Punk/Rock feud and giving the fans something to care about heading into the two title matches.”

Jim Ross Blog: The Undertaker vs. CM Punk, Old School RAW & More

2

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Old school RAW: “Old School Raw is one of my favorite Raw’s of the year. I enjoy seeing the veterans return to the ‘scene of the crime’ and enjoy the adulation of the live audience. I can’t explain how good that makes a body feel. It’s the same intangible that gets in one’s DNA that brings back a star like @TheRock to perform live in a wrestling ring. It can’t be replicated or reproduced.”

The Undertaker’s return: “Loved the start to the show with the return of The Undertaker. That had to get social media a buzz and I’m relatively sure that the early evening, TV ratings will reflect such when they are released.”

CM Punk vs. The Undertaker: “@CMPunk vs. The Undertaker at WM29 will be special and a hard act to follow. By April 7 I’d think that a compelling case will be made that Punk could well be the guy to finally beat Taker at WrestleMania especially considering that this might be, I don’t know for a fact, Taker’s last WrestleMania event. I hope that I’m wrong on that but one never knows at this stage of the Dead Man’s game. Punk could become forever a ‘Made man’ by defeating the legend at WWE’s signature event.

“Would Taker being 20-1 or 21-0 make him be perceived as less than, arguably, the greatest Superstar over the long haul in WWE ever? Obviously not. I’ve long said that Taker will never lose at WM but not knowing the full extent of his physical condition and not seeing him in the ring since last year presents a great deal of unanswered questions. Am I changing my tune? No. but am I somewhat uneasy about the Phenom going into April &? Absolutely.”

– New York City comedy club Carolines On Broadway has announced “The Roast of The Iron Sheik” will take place on Thursday, April 4th and will be hosted by Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg. Here’s the official event synopsis:

It’ll be the ultimate “screw job” when The Sheik faces a hilarious no-holds-barred assault that would make even the toughest heel tap out. The Miz Talks About Balancing Wrestling & Acting, Haters, WM27 Concussion

13

WWE superstar The Miz spoke to ESPN.com this week to promote the release of his new WWE Studios DVD, “The Marine 3: Homefront.” Here are some highlights of what The Miz said about:

Advice From The Rock Balancing Wrestling & Acting: I texted The Rock, because let’s face it, The Rock is the biggest action hero right now in movies, so I was like, listen, Rock, what’s your best advice, and he told me to just be natural. He said that too many times guys try and be this big guy, but it ends up looking robotic. He told me to act natural, have fun, and enjoy the scenes, enjoy yourself. It sounds so simple, but when you get in there and there are all these cameras and you have different takes and different feelings, being natural is great advice, and it actually helped out a lot.

Why He Attracts Haters: Haters love me. [laughs] That’s why I’ve got the T-shirt. It’s a little bit of everything. I think when you come from a reality show, nobody really respects you from the movie industry or from the WWE industry. Our WWE fans are very critical. It’s like a fraternity, and if you’re not a part of that fraternity, guess what, you’re hated. And for a very, very long time, I had to earn the respect of all the WWE Universe, and I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to do that. I think, finally, after seven years of working hard and dedicating myself, I’ve finally turned the fans, and you’ll actually hear them cheering nowadays. That’s what I hope to do with the movie industry. I hope the movie industry looks at “The Marine 3: Homefront” and goes, wow, not only has this guy been on a reality show and in WWE, but this guy can really act and did an incredible job.

Getting A Concussion In The Main Event of WrestleMania 27: I watch it back and I don’t remember a thing. There are bits and pieces that come back, but most of it is just one big blur. It’s funny, because when we went backstage, my parents got to go backstage to see if I was OK, and the next day, my dad comes up to me and starts showing me all these pictures he took backstage. He was like, “Oh my God, I got The Rock, I got John Cena, I got Rock’s mom, this is incredible.” So I was like, “Wait a minute, Dad, when did you get these?” And he said, “You were concussed and you kept asking the same questions and it got annoying so I just went out and started taking pictures with everybody.” I was like, “Thanks, Dad, I appreciate that!”
