Kurt Angle Talks About Retiring In WWE, Hogan Being Featured Over Him In TNA

29

TNA star Kurt Angle appeared on Mark Madden’s Pittsburgh radio show this week to promote tonight’s live episode of Impact Wrestling. Here are some highlights of what Angle said about:

Why Hogan Is Battling Aces & Eights, Not Him:

“You know what, I’ve had talks with Creative and, yeah, we’ve been going back and forth. I’ve been the staple of the company the last five years until, I would say, the last year. I believe they’ve been trying to use the younger talent.”

“[It’s] a touchy subject. I love Terry, but you’re right, it is about bringing up the younger talent. And the way to do it is having them wrestle veterans like me in the main events. Hopefully in the future they’ll start doing that more often.”

Focusing Back On TNA After Considering Another Olympic Run:

“I believe that was probably the beginning of my demise in TNA as far as where they wanted me,” Angle said. “They were expecting me to try out for the Olympics and go to the Olympics, so they kind of wrote me off. Then, they didn’t have a lot for me. But, I said, ‘Hey, it’s over. What are we going to do now?’ And they said, ‘We’re going to have plans for you and start writing you back in.’ So, we’ll see here in the future.”

Loving TNA But Possibly Ending His Career In WWE:

“I love it in TNA. I’ve been very, very happy here. They treat me very well. You just never know,” Angle said. “The way I want to retire, I want to go out with a bang. I’m hoping to God that within the next three years, we can have somewhat of a PPV that is minutely close to WrestleMania. But, we don’t. Not yet. But, you know, everyone always wants to retire at WrestleMania.”

“It’s a hard thing because I want to stay in TNA – I love it there – but when you have the opportunity to go back and perform in front of millions of people on PPV and 100,000 fans in the stadium, it’s kind of hard not to. But, like I said, I am happy in TNA and this is where I want to stay.”

Nikki Bella Compared To Michelle McCool – Does She Have Heat Backstage For Dating A Top WWE Star?

28

Though Nikki Bella is romantically linked to John Cena, unlike retired wrestler Michelle McCool, there is no animosity toward her among her WWE co-workers for dating a top star. It was noted within some circles recently that McCool had “tremendous heat” among some of her peers when she rose to the top years ago, but was “bullet proof” because of her romantic affiliation with The Undertaker. Nikki and twin sister Brie are well-liked among their peers, with organization officials holding them in high regard.

It’s also said that with Nikki dating Cena, the twin duo can “get away with a lot.”

McCool has been greatly criticized over the years for taking the fast track to WWE glory. After entering an intimate relationship with The Undertaker in late 2007 (who she married in June 2010), many critics attributed her position in the company to her influential partner rather than her ability to perform. Months after her spring 2011 retirement from the squared circle, the four-time champion was asked in an interview why she has received so much flack from her colleagues.

Dan Murphy of Inside Wrestling asked McCool, “I know you like to keep some things private and this was never announced, but you did marry The Undertaker. He’s obviously a veteran and icon in the business with a lot of influence. Was it the Diva Search background or having the relationship with someone like him that’s responsible for the heat and resentment you got?”

She responded, “Bottom line: People in our business are always going to look to find reasons to see the negative in somebody and to become resentful. I don’t really know where it began: probably with me getting the tag as “Diva Search reject.” But I don’t know anybody who, if they had an opportunity like the Diva Search, they wouldn’t jump at it. If they didn’t jump at it, they’d be idiots.

“People can say what they want to say, but at the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror. I know how hard I fought. I know how many storylines I pitched. I know how hard I worked in the ring. I can’t tell you the number of times I was one of the first people at the arenas or at TV, constantly trying to better myself. I can honestly say that my hard work paid off. My resilience paid off. My persistence paid off. That’s all there is to it. People are always going to say what they want to say and believe what they want to believe, but that’s the bottom line.”

Update On Rosa Mendes’ Status With WWE After Being Sent Home From European Tour

4

News surfaced this week that Milena Roucka, known as Rosa Mendes, was sent home from WWE’s ongoing European tour. The sports-entertainment organization issued a statement to online news outlets stating, “Milena Roucka (Rosa Mendes) left the international tour for personal reasons.”

According to this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer, the 33-year-old had been “partying too much on the tour,” with one company source describing her as “a mess.” Talent and other employees were under the belief that she would probably not rejoin the company on the road for a while, but that she has not been suspended.

PWInsider.com noted that the WWE Diva has a history of similar issues, which prompted company officials to send her back home.

Mendes addressed the matter Monday afternoon via Twitter, writing, “Just wanted to let all my #Mendesluverz that I’m ok. I had to take care of some personal matters. Thank you for all your support. Love you.”

Mendes manages the real-life cousin tandem of Primo and Epico, and is considered the star of the group due to her appearance and charisma. Though Primo and Epico are well-liked within the company and considered good workers, the general feeling is that they lack charisma and therefore aren’t heavily promoted.

Michael Bay Clarifies His Comments That The Rock Needs To Stop Wrestling

42

“Pain & Gain” Director Michael Bay has clarified his remarks about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson needing to “grow up and stop wrestling 300 pound men.” (Video above)

Bay wrote on his official website:

“Wrestling fans, it was a joke said on Entertainment Tonight–with a laugh. You can see the clip for yourselves. The most important person to see the on-air joke was Dwayne. I love seeing The Rock wrestle. I hope he wrestles 10 more years. I joked on air because Dwayne was not at our LA premiere due to his injury.”

As noted earlier, The Rock responded to the controversy earlier today:

The Rock Responds To Michael Bay Telling Him To “Grow Up”, Cody Rhodes Challenges Morgan Freeman

21

– As reported earlier, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was forced to miss Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of his latest film, Pain & Gain, due to an emergency hernia operation earlier in the day. Speaking to E! Online on the red carpet, movie director Michael Bay suggested the injury stemmed from Johnson’s wrestling exploits.

“He was pushing it too hard,” Bay said. “[He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men.”

Johnson responded to Bay’s remark via Twitter this afternoon, writing, “Funny sh*t! Michael Bay joked I should stop wrestling 300lb men. I agree – I’ll switch to women. #ALLPainNOGain.”

– Cody Rhodes has challenged Morgan Freeman to a wrestling duel.

When asked which celebrity he would like to wrestle, the WWE Superstar said the famous actor, film director, and narrator could lend his authoritative voice to the bout.

“Morgan Freeman, because I feel like I could win because he’s old; although I’m sure he’s tough,” Rhodes told www.tv3.ie in an interview promoting WWE’s annual November tour of the UK. “But then we could sell it and he could narrate the match, like he narrates everything. He could explain everything because he’s such a great storyteller he could tell the story of me beating him. That would be wonderful.”

While Rhodes initially pursued an acting career in Hollywood before officially entering the family business in 2006, he has no ambitions to launch a career now.

“I always said absolutely not, but if a man was to walk in and tell me, ‘Alright, you’re going to be in ‘Fast and the Furious 35’, for instance, I’d be running with him,” said Rhodes. “I would only want to do it as a pro wrestler, like Cody Rhodes from WWE in something, because my home is the ring, I don’t really have any ambition to platform into another form of entertainment.”

Photos – New WWE Divas Eva Marie & Jo-Jo Offerman

28

As announced in the WWE press release for the “Total Divas” series debuting this summer on the E! Network, there will be two new Divas featured on the series:

Natalia Eva Marie will be known as “Eva Marie” and was a 2012 Powertec Fashion Model Winner.

Joseann Alexie Offerman will be known as “Jo-Jo Offerman” and is a Dominican singer/dancer.

The new Divas were found via the recent Diva casting search WWE conducted several months ago across the United States. Each were in attendance over Wrestlemania week and filmed scenes for the new series.

Triple H Responds To Michael Bay’s Dig At The Rock, Ziggler Hypes “Pain & Gain”

21

The official YouTube account of WWE website released the following video of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler presenting a special clip of the new Michael Bay film that hits theaters on Friday, Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Johnson was forced to miss Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of the film due to an emergency hernia operation earlier in the day. Speaking to E! Online on the red carpet, Bay suggested the injury stemmed from Johnson’s wrestling exploits. “He was pushing it too hard,” Bay said. “[He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men.”

Triple H, Chief Operating Officer of WWE, humorously responded to Bay’s remark on Twitter this afternoon:

Jim Ross: Undertaker Wrestling On RAW, The Shield, Ryback’s Heel Turn

14

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog with some thoughts on Monday’s RAW from London, England. As always, you can buy JR’s delicious line of BBQ products at WWEShop.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Ryback’s Heel Turn: “Ryback had a productive week in his transition to becoming a ‘villain’ and challenging the polarizing, WWE Champion John Cena. I think that these two will have sound chemistry when they meet at the Extreme Rules PPV and wouldn’t be surprised to see Ryback win the WWE Title. Seems as if it is enviable that the Vegas wrecking ball will be ‘the man’ at some point in the future as he is one of the more focused and hellbent on success performers that I have encountered in many years.”

The Shield’s Progress: “Even though the Shield had some indy experience before joining NXT, the training that the trio received in Florida has served them well. Further proof to me that NXT is the true future of WWE as it relates to the TV product which is what drives the entire company. Nothing’s more important than talent and television within WWE.”

“The Shield had a pivotal week in the world of WWE TV and it continues this Friday night on Smackdown. Already some fans are clamoring for the trio to break up and go their separate ways. I content that it’s too early for that and that there are many productive miles left in this new, hot faction that has a chance to become one of the more significant groups ever assembled in WWE.

Undertaker Wrestling on RAW: “It’s always great to see Undertaker on free TV and he never fails to give me my monies worth but, admittedly, I am extremely biased. I made a statement on Twitter earlier in the week @JRsBBQ that many disagreed with that I thought that Taker had overtaken Andre the Giant as the Greatest ‘Big Man’ in the history of the biz. Frankly, factoring in tenure, leadership, productivity, tickets sold, etc, a viable argument can be made that the Undertaker isn’t the greatest star ever in the genre.”

Video: Superstars Pushing For Randy Savage In The 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame

9

This week’s edition of WWE Inbox is now online – looking at who should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year. WWE superstars and divas overwhelmingly name “Macho Man” Randy Savage as a potential inductee, with Paul Bearer also being suggested.

Former WWE superstar Lanny “The Genius” Poffo has stated publicly that before his passing, his brother Randy Savage was willing to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame only if the entire Poffo family was inducted together, including Lanny and their father Angelo Poffo.

What “Total Divas” On E! Means For The WWE Network, Final RAW Rating

5

– Monday’s taped WWE RAW from London, England drew a 3.14 rating with 4.4 million viewers. This is up from the previous week, which did a 3.08 with 4.15 million viewers.

– On Monday, WWE the new reality TV show “Total Divas” will begin airing on the E! Network this summer. According to f4wonline.com, there were a lot of people in WWE who were surprised by the news, since the divas reality show had been one of the top original shows planned for the WWE Network. Total Divas airing on E! left many employees feeling that the WWE Network launch will get delayed once again.

Update On Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose & If It Will Air On SmackDown

24

There are conflicting reports about the Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose match that took place at the end of Tuesday’s London SmackDown tapings.

Initially, fan reports that were being sent in (and Twitter activity) indicated that the match was the non-televised dark match main event. Plus, the Undertaker’s appearance was promoted in advance as a “London Exclusive” – another sign that it was for the live crowd only.

However, other fans who were in attendance stated that the match was probably taped for Friday’s SmackDown broadcast, since a graphic aired on the big screen earlier in the show hyping the match and WWE announcers were still ringside calling the action.

It’s still unclear at this point where the TV taping concluded and WWE has not yet acknowledged that Undertaker will be competing on Friday’s show.

We’ll post an update when more details become available. In the event that the match does air on television, we apologize for “spoiling” the result for fans who try to avoid spoilers.

Director Says The Rock Needs To Grow Up & Stop Wrestling 300lb. Men

43

WWE superstar and Hollywood action hero Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson underwent successful abdominal surgery on Monday to repair injuries sustained at WrestleMania 29.

The injury caused The Rock to miss RAW the following night as well as the Los Angeles movie premiere of his new film, “Pain & Gain.”

It’s been known that The Rock’s decision to wrestle for WWE was not looked upon fondly by his associates in Hollywood, who rely on their leading man to be healthy in order to shoot and promote his movie projects. Now, director Michael Bay (Pain & Gain, Transformers) is speaking out about The Rock’s decision to juggle wrestling and movies.

At the recent Pain & Gain premiere event, Michael Bay explained why The Rock was not in attendance and gave him some career advice:

“Dwayne’s hurt tonight. He was pushing it too hard. [He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men.”

Photos – Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose At London SmackDown Tapings

51

At Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown tapings from London, England, The Undertaker made a rare in-ring appearance, wrestling The Shield member Dean Ambrose. It’s still unclear at this time whether the match will air on SmackDown or was a dark match main event, but here’s an in-person from SEScoops.com correspondent Jen Lee of Dean-ambrose.net:

The commentators (I could hear them) kept going right up until, after powerbombing Taker through the announce desk, Ambrose started yelling at him. At that point JBL and Cole left and things seemed to clear out while The Shield ‘celebrated’ and went back in to the ring. Pretty much the only people left after that were Lilian and one camera guy, the others were done. Thats when the Outlaws and Triple H came out, cleared out The Shield and went to pick up Taker from the wreckage. There was a funny spot after that where they walked up the ramp, stopped by the Taxi at the top and opened the door as if to put Taker in it. He just glared and they closed it again.

But yeah, it was still full systems go all the way up to Ambrose yelling after the powerbomb. 3 cameras, 2 photographers, commentators shouting. Heard most of it. So I’d say it’s getting aired. They also showed a graphic several times through the night for it, and Ambrose did a backstage promo talking about taking out Undertaker ‘tonight’.

DDP Says Steve Austin Is About To Start DDP Yoga

During a recent interview with the Temple News, Diamond Dallas Page revealed that WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is about to begin his DDP Yoga program:

Steve lifts weights and does cardio for an hour a day, five days a week. I told him you only need to do my workout 20 minutes a day for three days a week and it will replace your cardio. He had to ask others for confirmation, even though the son of a gun lived with me.”

Page, also commented on Jake Roberts & Scott Hall’s progress at the Accountability Crib in Atlanta:

“Those guys have had major problems with alcoholism, pill abuse and drugs. Since [Roberts] moved in around October, he has lost 65 pounds.
