Jeff Hardy Offers His Thoughts On WWE Champion CM Punk

26

During a recent interview with Power Slam, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy was asked to give his thoughts on his polar opposite, WWE Champion CM Punk.

The two star wrestlers have been at odds in the past. Hardy was reportedly upset with Punk denouncing him on live television for his September 2009 arrest on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids, after a search of his North Carolina home yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. A little over a year later, a bizarre video surfaced on YouTube of a slurring Hardy bashing Punk’s drug-free lifestyle and proclaiming to have “made him.” These days, however, Hardy says he has no problem with the Straight Edge Superstar.

While on the subject of whether he was aware of Punk clocking a fan in the stands on the October 8 episode of Raw, Hardy responded, “I am working on some songs with this guy, and he sent me a text and asked me if I had seen it. I hadn’t seen it, so I don’t know what happened … But CM Punk is great, man: he’s so talented, it’s crazy. We’re just on different pages on our beliefs and our outlook on life.

“But, yeah, I’ve got to check that [footage of Punk striking the fan]: I heard it was pretty violent. This guy said, “He might be coming to TNA, LOL.” I don’t know about that. But CM Punk is crazy talented. We don’t stay in touch or have contact, but I have nothing bad to say about the guy … we’re just different.”

It’s all uphill from there as he gives his thoughts on the importance of finishers in wrestling, TLC PPV predictions, CODY’s MOUSTACHE, Miz getting very non-PG on Raw, the Slammy Awards and what should win Match of the Year, possible turns for Orton and Del Rio, Macho Man HOF update, an irritating episode of Impact, the difference between pro wrestling and spot fests, and has the time come for Kurt Angle to retire?

Matt Hardy On The Chance Of Returning To WWE Or TNA, Explains Why He’s Not A “Cancer” In Ring of Honor

14

Matt Hardy joined The Big Mosh and “The Chairman of the Board” Todd Vincent for an interview Monday Night Mayhem, which is now available for free download, exclusively on the WrestleView Radio Network (available here). Highlights from the interview are as follows:

Why he sees himself as not a “cancer” in Ring of Honor, but as the company’s “cure”: “I wanted to come to Ring of Honor to help. A lot of Ring of Honor die-hard fans think I’m the ‘cancer,’ but I don’t think I’m the ‘cancer.’ I think I’m the cure. Not only can I offer my experience and wisdom to these guys, but I can bring in a huge fan base as far as Hardy fans go. I want to change some things. I don’t want to take away what Ring of Honor stands for, but I do want to change it in a way where it evolves and grows.

The type of crowd reaction that he is expecting at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City this Sunday at “Final Battle 2012”: “I know the Ring of Honor die-hard fans, and I’m going to be the enemy to them. I’m walking into hostile territory, and that’s good. I dig that. As long as the fans are reacting, whether they love me or they hate me, it’s all good.”

The chance of a WWE or TNA return in 2013 and how he has received some “interesting phone calls” within the last month: “It’s really hard to put a number on that figure. All I can say is in the wrestling business is ‘never say never.’ I can tell you right now, there have been some interesting phone calls during the last month or so. If I could command a schedule in WWE or TNA where I could work a day a week or a couple days a week, that would be helpful. I would definitely take it into consideration.”

The Shield Debuts At WWE Live Event, Randy Orton Injury Update

24

– WWE’s new stable Thie Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) made their in-ring debuts at Saturday night’s Supershow live event in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In a preview for tonight’s WWE TLC main event, they faced Ryback, Kane and Daniel Bryan in a 6-man tag match.

In typical Shield fashion, the trio jumped Team Hell No before the match began and used the numbers game to their advantage. That is – until Ryback ran out and evened the odds. The finish came after Ryback pinned Dean Ambrose after hitting him with Shell Shocked.

It will be interesting to see how the outcome of tonight’s TLC main event compares to what happened in Wilkes-Barre.

– As previously reported, Randy Orton was injured at last weekend’s Tribute to the Troops tapings. Originally it was believed that Orton suffered a wrist injury, but we’ve now learned that Orton actually dislocated his shoulder and will be out of action for around two weeks.

– Chris Jericho and Fozzy wrapped the 2012 leg of their Sin & Bones tour last night. They have visited 11 countries so far and promised to see fans in 2013. Jericho tweeted the following photo after last night’s show:

Jim Ross Blogs About Tonight’s WWE TLC Pay-Per-View

0

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on tonight’s WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

CM Punk’s Status For The Show: “Will @WWE Champion @CMPunk’s presence at #TLC Sunday be significant? My assumption is yes but how is anyone’s guess. The WWE Title is the ultimate prize in WWE and it will be on display in some shape, form or fashion.”

Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena: “@HeelZiggler slipping over @JohnCena in the Ladder match with the MITB contract at stake. Would it shock me to see Dolph Ziggler leave TLC as the new World Champion as well? Not totally. It also wouldn’t shock me to see Cena win. That’s one reason this match intrigues me.”

Ryback and Team Hell No vs The Shield: “6 man tag that is likely to be wild west like and I see the three newcomers coming out on top by hook or crook. Fresh match that will likely be well received. “

Which Match Will Close The Show: “Most likely much will be made of what bout will close the PPV and my opinion on that one is “Who cares?” As it relates to the order of events, the first bout of the night on PPV is also extremely important and should be one that is perceived that the live audience will engage in and invest. Frankly, more speculation should be devoted to what bout starts the show that what bout ends the event.”

CM Punk’s Status For Tonight’s TLC PPV & His In-Ring Return Pushed Back

22

Following his recent “emergency” knee surgery, WWE Champion CM Punk is currently recovering and expected to be healthy to wrestle within a few weeks.

After the surgery took place, Punk was advertised for WWE’s post-Christmas holiday live events tour. Even though Punk was willing to return to action this month, WWE officials made the call to pull him from those year-end shows and will keep him on the sidelines through the New Year.

At this point, it looks like CM Punk’s next televised match will be against Ryback on RAW on January 7th or January 14th (the 20th Anniversary show).

CM Punk is still being advertised for tonight’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs match and is rumored to be joining the announcer’s table for the main event featuring Ryback & Team Hell No vs. The Shield.

John Cena’s Character Ripped For Bad WWE Storylines, Too Cool Reunion Taking Place In California, Rene Dupree

39

– Online technology news website Wired.com published an article today criticizing WWE’s storytelling ability, but more specifically, John Cena. To writer Chris Sims, nobody embodies the problem more than “The Champ,” whose character is often promoted at the expense of others.

On the Dec. 3 Raw, WWE chief Vince McMahon had authority figure Vickie Guerrero add the stipulation of Dolph Ziggler putting his World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank contract on the line in his match against Cena at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. For this disregard of storylines, Sims ripped WWE, writing, “It’s the most blatant example of pulling strings to give him an endless amount of chances, and to make matters worse, it’s a pointless storytelling move. It doesn’t matter what the outcome is; if he loses, it doesn’t mean anything because it’s become evident that he’ll just be given another chance. If he wins, he doesn’t really gain anything because he’s in the exact same spot that he always is, and Ziggler loses some of his legitimacy to fix something that ain’t broken.”

The full article is available here.
