WWE Questions When The Undertaker Will Return, WWE’s Return To Philly & More

3

– The official WWE website has published an article looking at when The Undertaker may return to the ring after Triple H stated Monday at the 2012 Slammy Awards, “You have not seen the last of The Undertaker.” WWE teases:

“Now the only question is when The Undertaker will make his return again? Will it be at the Royal Rumble, making a bid for a championship opportunity at WrestleMania? Or perhaps the Elimination Chamber, where a similar opportunity may present itself? The past two years, The Phenom resurfaced on Raw both to receive and to accept a WrestleMania challenge. Perhaps in his seclusion, he’s selected a Superstar as a potential opponent.

“It could be tomorrow. It could be next Friday. It could be the week before WrestleMania. Either way, the promise is out there: “You have not seen the last of The Undertaker.” Now, all that’s left to do is wait.”

– WWE will return to the site of Monday’s Raw, the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 25, 2013 with a Raw show. Ticketmaster.com is holding a pre-sale this week with the password RAWPHILLY.

CM Punk Appears On Nerdist Podcast, Mark Henry Training In Tampa, JR-Goldberg

8

– WWE Champion CM Punk appeared on Chris Hardwick’s podcast at Nerdist.com and spoke about his recent knee surgery, saying he doesn’t want to ever undergo surgery again. He said his stitches are out and he’s now doing physical therapy to get himself back into ring shape. Punk also made fun of WWE fans that love to complain about the product but still watch the shows obsessively. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

If WWE Is Exploiting Jerry Lawler’s Heart Attack: “Lawler ran Memphis for years and years and years. If this was still Memphis, if we weren’t PG, I would have been claiming I killed Jerry Lawler with a heart punch. He would have been all over that and we would have built for some big CM Punk – Jerry Lawler cage match or something like that.

“People nowadays think that we exploited the heart attack. Yeah, of course we did, look [at] what we do.”

Where WWE Draws The Line: “That was a serious deal, I mean the guy did have a heart attack at ringside doing commentary right after I got done wrestling him… Everybody thought that was it, that was the last we were going to see of him. If it was a planned thing, I don’t think anything’s too silly. I think that if you don’t plan on going too far in a lot of ways in life, then you’re not going to go far.”

If Wrestlers Have To Constantly Turn Heel/Face To Stay Fresh: “You have to evolve, it’s just evolution of your character. I don’t think there’s been anybody who’s been on TV doing the same thing for a sustainable amount of years. I think the average career in WWE is like three years maybe? There’s a big turnaround.

“The guys who I think make it to the top and stay there are the ones who constantly evolve their character, and it’s not necessarily flipping from good to bad. There’s just changes, you know what I mean? The perfect example would be a guy like The Undertaker. He was like this total cartoon character when he started, he was essentially a zombie, that was the whole reason why I thought he was cool. He’s been here for over 20 years, he couldn’t have been that same guy that debuted in 1991 or whatever for 20 years. He evolved… You gotta evolve.”

Punk also discussed why he got into wrestling, his apartment, being a nerd growing up, his tattoos, his father being an alcoholic and much more.

– WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross praised Bill Goldberg on Twitter, saying that he’s still a fan and has much respect for the former WWE & WCW star. Goldberg responded to JR, tweeting:

Ross responded back, saying, wishing “Best to the Goldberg’s!”

– Mark Henry tweeted a video (view here) on Twitter with the caption, “Not ready but feeling like a beast.” In the video, Henry says he’s down in Tampa “working” (presumably at WWE’s developmental facility), which means it’s a good day for him – and a bad day for everyone else.

Mike Tyson Says He “Definitely” Wants To Wrestle For WWE

14

WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson recently spoke to ESPN.com to discuss his involvement in the new WWE ’13 video game. Here are some highlights of what Tyson said about:

Would He Wrestle For WWE?

“Yeah, definitely … If I’m healthy, and I am, I think, I would do it,” he said. “You have to be in shape. You can’t just come off the street and do this stuff. I did a little wrestling before in there during rehearsal, and you have to be in top shape. You gotta work out. You’re going to get hurt, so you have to be in shape that way you can make sure you limit the damage.

“Before boxing, I was a WWF fan. It’s like a soap opera for men. That’s what poor, inner-city kids did, we watched these guys wrestle and we fantasized about being them and that glory and that fighting.”

Floyd Mayweather Beating Big Show at WrestleMania 24:

“I was so mad when they did that s—. Floyd can’t beat no [expletive] Big Show. That’s bulls—. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I forgot I was doing an interview, but he was fighting one of my boys … When you step into their field, you have to let them be kings in their field… So don’t bring guys into their field and make them look bad on their own mat. I don’t like that. From a fan’s perspective, I didn’t like that.”

The Excitement of Working With DX & Steve Austin in 1998:

“I didn’t want it to ever stop. I was living the lifestyle. I was living the dream. You’re talking crap to the bad guys and doing whatever you want. I never wanted it to stop. That’s why when you’re on top, like Tony Atlas and them, you gotta go to drugs. How do you get back to that high? All the cocaine, LSD in the world can’t get you that high back. How do you get that high back? You can’t get that high with cocaine and heroin like you think you could. You can’t get it. This is the only natural high that can supersede drugs.”

AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler vs. Vickie Guerrero and John Cena

AJ Lee comes out to the ring and demands that a ladder be put up in the ring. Two crew members pull one from under the ring and stand it up in the ring. AJ climbs the ladder as we go to commercial.

Back from the break and AJ is at the top of the ladder. AJ says she’s just full of surprises. She says everyone has asked her why she did what she did to the hero John Cena. AJ goes to explain why she pushed Cena off the ladder but Vickie Guerrero comes out screaming and talking trash. Out next comes Dolph Ziggler followed by John Cena.

Cena and Ziggler start things off. Ziggler ducks a clothesline and shows off some. Cena takes Ziggler down for a 1 count. They trade holds. Cena slams Ziggler and he tags in AJ. AJ comes in and stares at Cena. Vickie comes in and tackles AJ and they start brawling on the mat. AJ rolls to the floor and starts leaving up the ramp. Ziggler runs over and knocks Cena off the apron. Dolph brings it back in and stomps away on Cena. Vickie leaves now and it’s just Ziggler and Cena. Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Ziggler counters and hits a big DDT. Ziggler drops a bunch of elbows now.

Cena applies the STF and turns it around but here comes AJ with NXT Champion Big E Langston. Langston hits the ring and runs right over Cena. Langston stands over Cena as AJ skips around them. Ziggler looks on as RAW goes off the air.

Mark Henry Calls “BS” On Report That He Could Return To WWE Any Moment

WWE superstar Mark Henry is calling “BS” on a report from the Wrestling News World website stating that he could be returning to WWE television at any moment.

WNW’s Richard Gray reported last week:

“We can confirm Henry has been cleared to return to the ring and has been pitched in recent main event creative plans. We do not have a timetable for his in-ring return but it’s possible to happen at any moment.”

Henry, who underwent surgery back in May, says the report is bogus and he might not ever return. He tweeted late Sunday night:

“This is bullsh*t. Truth is whoever wrote don’t (know) a damn thing. There is a chance I won’t come back. I have not been cleared yet.”

The tweet was later deleted. Henry has stated in recent interviews that he’s been dropping weight and getting into great physical shape in the event that he does return to WWE, but it’s far from imminent.

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. : WWE® Partners with Hire Heroes USA

WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced a partnership with Hire Heroes USA, an organization committed to serving our nation’s veterans through personalized and customized job search training and assistance. To support Hire Heroes USA’s mission, WWE will make a donation and utilize all its assets, including TV broadcasts, live events, digital and social media to generate awareness and raise funds. In addition, Hire Heroes USA will partner with WWE to implement a veterans hiring initiative and enhance WWE’s military hiring practices.

The partnership, which will expand WWE’s commitment to the military through the support of programs that create job opportunities for U.S. military veterans and their spouses, will be featured during the 10th anniversary of WWE Tribute to the Troops. This annual holiday special airs on USA Network this Wednesday, December 19 at 9 p.m. and on NBC this Saturday, December 22 at 9 p.m.

With a narrowly tailored mission and a personal approach to each unemployed or transitioning veteran and spouse, Hire Heroes USA has helped more than 600 veterans find employment in the past two years. In 2012 almost 2,000 new veterans registered for Hire Heroes USA assistance and nearly 400 more were helped at two-day workshops focused on providing assistance to wounded, ill, or injured service members.

“WWE has a clear commitment to supporting the US military and the top organizations that help military veterans and their families,” said Brian Stann, President and CEO of Hire Heroes USA. “Like us, WWE follows verbal support with action, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much in defense of this nation. We are proud to partner with WWE so that together we can help reduce veteran unemployment.”

“WWE has a long history of supporting our armed forces because we are extremely grateful for the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, WWE. “It is an honor for us to partner with Hire Heroes USA and support programs that will help our veterans.”

WWE’s longstanding commitment to the military in the U.S. and abroad includes its annual Tribute to the Troops events, Tickets for the Troops program and regular visits to military bases, hospitals and fundraisers that support military personnel and their families.

The United States Department of Labor estimates that the military discharges 160,000 active service members and 110,000 Reserve and National Guard members annually. Statistically, about 32,000 of those veterans will join the ranks of nearly 1 million veterans already unemployed.
