Former WWE Announcer: Rocky Start To Sin Cara’s WWE Career, Bigget Pop He’s Heard & More

8

Former WWE Spanish announcer Hugo Savinovich joined the Inside The Ropes show last week and spoke about the rocky start to Sin Cara’s WWE Career, WWE personnel preventing him from committing suicide and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

CM Punk Striking A Fan Last Week On RAW: “It’s different times now from when I got into the business. We’re talking about times where stadiums were filled where you could bring all these big athletes that you could create these great stories even with blood with the Funks, Sammartino, etc. But it meant something, but it’s not this era where you say something and someone’s emotionally hurt and there’s a lawsuit. These guys travel over 200 days a year, pressure of performing, the mentality of a superstar of today is “we had a great match last night, but we have to do better tonight” they’re so focused. We love fans but it’s a shame that some have to ruin it for everyone and get involved with the wrestlers like that.”

The Biggest Pop He Ever Heard At Ringside: “It was the Hulk Hogan against The Rock [at WrestleMania X8]. The people turned on the Rock, Rock immediately accepted the moment and became the heel. The pop of the place when we saw this legend Hogan and this new icon Rock. They told the story of the match. Every punch that Hogan threw it was like a big pop, it became an instant classic. One of those huge matches that you see.”

Sin Cara’s Rocky Start in WWE: “I believe somebody like a Ricky Steamboat, one of the agents, or Arn Anderson or even Rey Mysterio, I think somebody has to be like a mentor for him. I almost blew my life and I was given a second chance. When there’s a potential, if the person wants it, if he could have a special mentor who would tell him “hey here’s what you have to do to change this about psychology, style or his life” to coach him in matches or in life, it helps. I remember the night before Wrestlemania 16 years ago in Chicago I was ready to commit suicide, Savio Vega came into this room in Chicago, Pat Patterson, Gerry Brisco were there, they hugged me, they didn’t realize but they stopped me from doing something crazy. Having been in that situation, if a talent realizes he needs help with his career and life, why not take advantage? I Believe if he gets the right attitude he could be great. I preach with my wife now in churches and I say your attitude decides your altitude.”

WWE Looks At John Cena Passing The Torch To Ryback, AJ Wants To Wrestle At WM29

80

WWE.com has an article up questioning whether John Cena “passed the torch” to Ryback on Monday’s WWE RAW by leading the crowd in a “Feed Me More” chant and endorsing Ryback as CM Punk’s opponent at Hell in a Cell:

“Ryback, who has been nothing short of a force of nature since his arrival in April, now carries the weight of the WWE Universe on his broad shoulders. Handed to him by Cena — a 10-time WWE Champion — Ryback also carries with him the hopes and dreams of an entire locker room. Whether it’s because Cena isn’t yet healthy enough to do battle, or perhaps because the Cenation leader sees something special in the rising Superstar, the burden is now on Ryback to answer the call.

Few have been afforded the opportunity to challenge for WWE Championship gold; fewer still have claimed it. Standing now at the precipice of greatness, when Hell in a Cell descends on Ryback and Punk come Oct. 28, will Ryback live up to the enormous expectations thrust upon him by Cena and carry that torch to a title reign?”

DISCUSSION: Comment below and tell us what you thought about John Cena putting Ryback over on Monday’s RAW. Is it too soon to put the WWE Championship on Ryback, is that exactly what he needs to complete his monster push and establish him as WWE’s top new babyface?

– WWE RAW General Manager AJ Lee was recently interviewed by Trentonian.com to promote next week’s RAW from New Jersey. AJ, a New Jersey native, once again stated that she hopes to wrestle in front of her home town crowd next April at WrestleMania:

“I’d like to still be general manager and put myself in a match. I’m loving every second of (being general manager), but I really want to wrestle in New Jersey.”

AJ said she’d book herself in a Divas title match against Eve Torres.

*Spoilers* WWE SmackDown Tapings Results For Friday

17

The show opened with Miz TV. The Miz spoke about how he lost the Intercontinental Championship. The Miz announced that he will invoke his rematch clause at Hell in a Cell. Then he introduced his guests, Team Hell No. Miz ran down Daniel Bryan for being the weak link. He said he would be the reason they lose at Hell in a Cell. Bryan and Kane argued while Miz played instigator.

Big Show came out and ran down Bryan for the 45-second thing and said nothing like that will never happen again after he beats Sheamus. Cue Dolph Ziggler. He said that he will cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase after the World Heavyweight Championship match at Hell in a Cell. Everyone argued until Miz took command, then Booker T came out. Booker booked Team Hell No vs. Ziggler and Show for later, and Miz vs. Randy Orton as well.

1. Randy Orton defeated The Miz. Orton won with the RKO around the ten-minute mark. Orton received a huge pop. Del Rio was in a luxury box watching the match to play up his own match with Orton at Hell in a Cell.

Backstage, Sheamus talked to Teddy Long and asked for a rematch with Wade Barrett. Teddy booked them in a lumberjack for later in the show.

2. Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow beat Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. Rhodes Scholars won a three-minute glorified squash.

Booker, Teddy and Eve were shown talking backstage. Eve took credit for the lumberjack match idea and made Teddy look bad.

3. WWE Tag Champions Daniel Bryan and Kane defeated Big Show and Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. Ziggler and Show worked over Bryan for about ten minutes until he made the hot tag to Kane. Bryan tagged back in and locked Ziggler in the No! Lock for the submission victory. Rhodes Scolars came out and attacked Team Hell No as they were celebrating/arguing on the stage.

4. Antonio Cesaro defeated Ted DiBiase in a non-title match. Ted DiBiase entered his same old music. A video aired of Cesaro in front of Sun Studio. He ran down Memphis and Elvis for cheap heat. Cesaro won in three minutes with the Neutralizer.

3MB made their way to the ring. They called themselves the greatest group in WWE. Drew McIntyre popped a few eardrums with his Axl Rose impression. Out came Brodus Clay for a match against Slater.

5. Heath Slater beat Brodus Clay. Slater won in three minutes after distractions from Mahal and McIntyre.

6. Layla beat Natalya. Eve was on commentary for the match. Layla won in 90 seconds. No one cared.

The lumberjacks came out for the main event.

7. World Hvt. Champion Sheamus defeated Wade Barrett in a lumberjack match. The lumberjacks started brawling per usual, then Team Hell No showed up to brawl. Amidst the confusion, Sheamus hit the brogue kick on Barrett for the win.

Ziggler hit his finisher. He tried to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, but Big Show hit the KO punch and said at the end of the show that he would win the belt and that the same fate would happen to him as it did to Ziggler.

Tammy Sytch Requests To Return To Rehab Following Court Appearance Tuesday

3

Tamara Sytch, famously known as Sunny, is expected to enter a rehabilitation program after being arrested for the fifth time in one month last Tuesday and her second time in less than 24-hours, for allegedly violating a protective order stemming from an original September arrest.

The WWE Hall of Famer appeared in New Haven Superior Court on Tuesday and her attorney requested on her behalf that she be admitted to a treatment center in Pennsylvania. WWE, which offers rehabilitation assistance to all former contracted talent, would provide transportation from court to the treatment center and foot the bill. She is expected to appear again in court on Thursday to be notified whether the proposal will be granted.

Sytch’s former boyfriend, Damien Selvaggio, known on the independent wrestling circuit as Damien Darling, told WFSB-TV that she struggles with alcohol.

“When Tamara is sober, she is an amazing person, but when she drinks, she is an uncontrollable, violent demon,” said Selvaggio.

WWE has sent Sytch to rehabilitation three times and covered all expenses associated with the treatments.

“Unfortunately, Ms. Sytch continues to make poor personal choices,” said WWE in a statement last week following her latest arrests. “WWE will continue to provide assistance should she want to take advantage of it.”

More details on the matter are available here.

Injury Update On Miz Following Kofi Kingston’s Kick On Raw – Has He Been Medically Cleared To Compete Tonight?

17

WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz has been medically cleared to compete at tonight’s television taping in Memphis, Tennessee after being struck hard in the head by Kofi Kingston’s “Trouble In Paradise” maneuver during their match on Raw Monday. He will defend his belt against Kingston in a match that will air tomorrow night on WWE Main Event on ION Television.

Michael J. Sampson, WWE’s ringside physician, determined that The Miz did not suffer a concussion after being struck by Kingston’s devastating kick at the conclusion of their match on Raw. He stated in a video published on WWE.com that the Superstar has some pain on his forehead and required sutures, but has no signs of concussion-like symptoms after undergoing neurological testing.

In another video, The Miz offers insight into his state of mind as he heads into a title match against Kingston. He says “he’s coming” for him.

WWE RAW Ratings: Hour 3 Loses Viewership Again

68

Monday’s WWE RAW drew a 2.79 rating and averaged 3.99 million viewers for the 3-hour show. This is virtually even with last week. Hourly viewership was:

Hour 1: 4.07 million
Hour 2: 4.01 million
Hour 3: 3.89 million

WWE pushed the “main event” Hell in a Cell contract signing (and the announcement of Punk’s opponent) throughout the show, so the third hour falling off once again is not a great sign.

RAW ranked #3 on cable for Monday night behind the NFL’s Monday Night Football and “Major Crimes” on TNT.
