Backstage Notes From Raw Regarding Jerry Lawler’s Health Scare

42

– F4WOnline.com published a report clarifying rumors of WWE’s handling of Monday’s Raw show after broadcaster and wrestler Jerry Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating.

WWE chief Vince McMahon was not at Lawler’s side during the entire ordeal, as reported. He briefly checked on the backstage commotion during a commercial break before resuming his producing duties at Gorilla Position. Rather, Paul “Triple H” Levesque directed orders backstage.

All of broadcaster Michael Cole’s on-air verbiage concerning Lawler was directed by McMahon word-for-word.

Wade Barrett Interview – New Aggressive Wrestling Style, Missing WrestleMania

10

Promoting tonight’s SmackDown taping at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Wade Barrett addressed his hiatus from the squared circle due to injury, which coincided with WrestleMania XXVIII.

“(Being away from WWE) takes you out of the goldfish bowl and you’re able to look at the aspects of your own work. You can critique yourself,” said Barrett. “There’s a saying that it’s never a good time to get injured. We were four weeks from Wrestlemania. It was very disappointing. It’s a huge relief to get back on TV. I’ve been doing live events for the last four weeks. But it was great to get back under the cameras and bright lights.”

Now that he’s back, fans can look for a more aggressive version of Barrett after his character was depicted as having returning from the underground arena of bare-knuckle fighting.

“I’m going to be doing things to entertain myself. It’s a new style. There’s a lot more brawling, a lot more strikes,” said Barrett. “I’ve always been a fairly physical guy. You just have to look at my nose to see what kind of lifestyle I led … sports and fisticuffs. I’m a contact kind of guy. Ninety-nine percent of the time, I’m pretty laid back and relaxed, but I can get very intense quickly. I think it’s inevitable if you’ve been off the road and injured that you build up anger – things that I have to get out of my system.”

Major Update On Jerry Lawler’s Medical Emergency: No Warning Signs, Backstage Reaction & More

36

Jerry Lawler’s heart attack at Monday’s RAW got mainstream media coverage from CNN, the Associated Press, FOX, TMZ and many others.

– Lawler wrestled both Friday and Saturday nights in Aruba before heading back to the States and flying to Montreal for RAW on Monday.

– Lawler showed no signs of health problems over the weekend.

– There was some concern at RAW about blood being cut off to Lawler’s brain and potential brain damage. Several fans who were ringside noted that Lawler’s skin appeared blue, a result of oxygen deprivation.
