The six time WWE World Champion is not going to let this small set back stop him from realizing his long time dream of making the move to Mixed Martial Arts. The Bautista camp is business as usual, continuing with his grueling pre-fight training determined to make Dave’s debut fight a successful one, regardless of who ends up in the opposite corner at the starting bell.

Vince Lucero, a 40 year old MMA veteran has an impressive number of fights behind him with 42 professional bouts and 11 KOs. Fights include two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia, whom he fought less than two years ago, former UFC heavyweight contenders Justin Eilers, Homer Moore and Christian Wellisch, Strikeforce veteran Ruben Villareal and former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) contender Jimmy Ambriz in addition to fighting for the Bellator Fighting Championships in 2011. The sheer experience under Lucero’s belt is sure to make him a formidable opponent for Bautista’s debut fight.

Tickets for this highly anticipated fight are available now at www.ticketmaster.com. The fight is also available on DirecTV Pay Per View (that will include a free 7PM ET preshow) and worldwide live streamed with full screen HD by Vividas starting at 9PM ET at www.bautistamma.com for $29.95. The show, titled “Real Pain,” is presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports in association with June Entertainment and 4zero1 Entertainment Group. Bautista, 43, will also star in the upcoming November 2nd Quentin Tarantino blockbuster, The Man With the Iron Fists as the aptly named Brass Body. Fans can catch full interviews with Bautista, see the undercard lineups, the official The Man with the Iron Fists trailer, and watch the title fight streaming live at www.bautistamma.com.

Vince McMahon, Triple H and Others Honor Jim Ross After Raw, Champion vs. Champion Match Takes Place

13

Following Monday’s Raw broadcast in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a Champion vs. Champion match took place, replacing the advertised match between CM Punk and John Cena. Cena did not appear at the show since he is still recovering from arm surgery two weeks ago.

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus faced WWE Champion CM Punk. The Celtic Warrior won by disqualification after being struck by Punk with the WWE Championship.

After the match, Vince McMahon appeared before the live audience to resume Jim Ross Appreciation Night. The WWE chief kindly spoke of Ross, dubbing him the best announcer ever, “including Gordon Solie,” and noted his dedication to the business, from recruiting talent to “joining a certain club” in Oklahoma City.

Triple H then appeared and made remarks similar to McMahon. He stated that “every boy in the back” wants J.R. to call his match. He then brought out Danny Hodge and Bill Watts, who spoke kindly of their friend. Pre-recorded messages from Jerry “The King” Lawler and University of Oklahoma football head coach Bob Stoops then aired on the TitanTron.

Triple H was then joined by the locker room, who gave Ross a standing ovation. Sheamus presented Ross with a glass sculpture declaring Ross as the “Voice of WWE.” The crowd chanted “Thank You J.R.” and he became teary-eyed.

Ross gave a speech about being a fat kid from Oklahoma who worked nineteen years to get to the top of his game and encouraged all kids staying out late on a school night to follow their dreams and passionately do what they love.

Jerry Lawler Talks About His Health, How Lucky He Feels, WWE’s Upcoming Shows In Tennessee

0

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler was recently interviewed by ESPN.com regarding his health after suffering a heart attack 3 weeks ago:

How Lucky He Feels: “For this kind of heart attack, only one out of 260 people survive. My girlfriend told me that on the way to the hospital they thought I was dead but they were still working on me and eventually shocked me seven times. It is a real comeback. People were asking me whether I saw bright lights and saw relatives who have passed. No, I didn’t see any of that. Michael Cole said that’s because I was heading in the opposite direction!”

His Health: “”I’m probably doing better than expected. I broke my leg in the 1980s and I was out of the ring for a year. That was painful and agonizing. The funny thing about this heart attack is I didn’t even realize it was happening. I just passed out. I didn’t have any excruciating pain. When I woke up three days later, the only soreness I had was in the chest from all the compressions they were giving me to revive me.”

Appearing at WWE’s Upcoming Events in Nashville (10/15) and Memphis (10/16): “I would like to. I know because of my voice that I would sound horrible on the air. It’s a few weeks away, so I honestly think I could; I’m so thankful for the fact that I feel good at this time.”
