WWE’s Board Of Directors Considering Legal Action Against Lesnar

24

The WWE website has a new storyline-driven article up that says the Board of Directors may take action against Brock Lesnar for his attack on Triple H this past Monday. However – the ‘contract demands’ made by Lesnar on the 4/23 episode of RAW and agreed to by John Laurinaitis protect Lesnar from liability.

“Adding one further wrinkle is the revised contract that Laurinaitis agreed to during the April 23 edition of Raw. Among the new terms approved by the GM was a clause that waived any future fines or disciplinary actions against Lesnar.

Triple H has already dismissed those additional contract perks as null and void, but could Lesnar’s camp pursue legal action in the event that the Board of Directors or Triple H comes down on Lesnar?”

The article also mentions that the Board of Directors is considering taking action against Jon Laurinaitis for his role in the whole situation.

Paul Heyman Comments On Extreme Reunion & Punk DVD

12

Paul Heyman issued the following statement regarding last weekend’s Extreme Reunion event promoted by Shane Douglas:

“I’ve had a ton of people ask me about #ExtremeReunion… and I haven’t said a word about it. Not a word in advance. And certainly nothing to say about it now. I didn’t comment on TNA’s Hardcore Justice in advance, nor after the show, either. Nothing to say about that, either. I chose not to participate in either show, or any other attempt to re-live #ECW, so I don’t feel it would be right 4 me to comment on it.”

“If you’re involved, speak your mind. If you take a pass on something, STFU. Just another voice bitching with the rest. #NotMyStyle I haven’t done any conventions. No shoot tapes. No paid autograph signings. Nothing wrong with ’em. Just #NotMyStyle So … I have kept my mouth shut about #ExtremeReunion. I wasn’t there, so who am I to say anything?”

Heyman also commented news of him working with WWE on the upcoming CM Punk DVD project:

“I was interviewed for the Austin DVD. I’m honored 2b interviewed for the @CMpunk DVD as well”

Cody Rhodes Interview: Learning From Cena, Being Dusty’s Son

58

WWE Intercontinental champion Cody Rhodes recently spoke with the Toledo Free Press and spoke about a number of topics, including what it was like growing up the son of Dusty Rhodes, starting off his career as a referee and what he’s learned from John Cena. Here are some highlights of what Cody said about:

Growing Up The Son of Dusty Rhodes:

“For me, I didn’t really pick up on the fact that he was, like, Dusty Rhodes, until about the time that I was in middle school. For me, he was always just dad. He was retired, not really as heavily involved. We got outside of the suburbs a little bit, and through other friends of mine’s parents I figured out how much that he’d done in the wrestling industry. I’d been to a lot of shows where he was a prominent figure, but I didn’t know how much he had done, especially in the late ’80s.

Being a Wrestling Fan As A Kid:

“I was a fan, but I don’t think I knew how much of a fan I was.”

His Decision to Become a Wrestler When he was a Teen:

“It was hard for my mother to take, because I never explored the options of doing anything else. It was just like it was set in stone. I think that’s what made it worse for even her — she couldn’t even say anything to change my mind.”

Starting out as a Referee in Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling:

“For me, it was just as exciting as being the one wrestling. The referee has a lot of control that I don’t think a lot of people realize in the ring. And I got the same rush performing as I did as a referee, especially as a teen.”

Getting Experience At Ohio Valley Wrestling:

“I also got a very firm grasp on how big of a fan I was. I was told when I was going to Louisville that you’re gonna eat, sleep and breathe wrestling. And I thought I’d have some outside interests. And from the time I entered, I never had any outside interests. When we weren’t at [training], we were at somebody’s apartment, watching WWE 24/7. And when we weren’t there, we were eating, and I was learning about diet and training — that was something I never had any access to. My dad was not a body guy. And in this day and age, when a company has evolved to where a lot of the specimens you see on TV are carved from stone, that was all new to me.”

Learning from John Cena:

“I spent a year driving Cena around when I was on the Raw brand. The goal was to learn a lot about him, what he does in the ring, how he has gotten where he has gotten, but also to learn a lot about merchandising and marketing, pretty much all the things he does. And I’d say I learned a great deal on what it takes outside of the ring. He’s noted as being one of the most hard-working people in entertainment, and he is. If you want his job, you have to work as hard as he does. And it is much easier said than done.”

The Rock Turns 40, Cena’s Status For Weekend House Shows

18

RAW Rating, Lesnar’s Meltdown Partially A Work & More

34

– Monday’s RAW Supershow drew a 3.3 rating with 4,880,000 viewers. The show did hours of 3.41 and 3.27, so hour two lost viewership once again.

– As we’ve been reporting here on the site, Brock Lesnar did throw a tantrum backstage after Extreme Rules, f4wonline.com is reporting that it was partially a ‘work’ on the locker room as a way to convince people that Cena going over was the right decision. Lesnar was upset about the finish, but “some, if not most” of the situation was not entirely legitimate.

WWE tried to have word leak out on Monday that Lesnar had quit the company, likely to get the “dirt sheets” reporting it so people would be surprised when Lesnar showed up on RAW. However, by the time that this was going on, it was already out there that Lesnar was at the arena and going to be at RAW.

More Details On Brock Lesnar’s Meltdown After Extreme Rules

42

As seen on Monday’s RAW, Brock Lesnar was written off television with his WWE contract status “up in the air” following the attack on Triple H.  We reported on Monday that Brock Lesnar had a meltdown backstage after his loss to John Cena at Extreme Rules. Lesnar was said to be absolutely furious about John Cena’s post-match promo – because the original plan was for John Cena to get stretchered out and look “totally incapacitated” to  sell the beating he took from Lesnar during the match. Lesnar felt that he was made to look weak and WWE officials double crossed him.

WWE’s new mentality with Lesnar, according to f4wonline.com, is that he’s getting paid a ton of money to work a limited schedule – so he should be used to put over their top talents. People in Lesnar’s camp were under the impression that WWE might have been testing Lesnar by changing plans without telling him and having Cena deliver the post-match speech to the live crowd.

Lesnar went nuts backstage in front of everyone, tearing things up and throwing a tantrum. Lesnar specifically yelled at Marc Carano, the assistant to John Laurinaitis, about how things are a mess and “everything is wrong” in WWE. Some felt that part of the tantrum was just an act by Lesnar to show to the locker room that he has more power than WWE and can walk away any time he wants.

During his backstage rampage, Lesnar also suggested that Cena intentionally pulled down the top rope at Extreme Rules, causing him to nearly blow out his knee in the bad spot towards the end of the match where they both tumbled out to the floor. Despite what Lesnar said about Cena pulling down the rope, Lesnar and Cena are believed to be on good terms and this could have also been Lesnar being overly dramatic and worked up.

Lesnar relationship with WWE remains complicated. WWE is going to have their hands full over the next year booking Lesnar due to his contract, which only requires limited appearances.

Following Lesnar’s attack on Triple H, it appears WWE is building towards a match between the two at SummerSlam. After that, Lesnar will almost certainly work the remaining “big” pay-per-views (Survivor Series, Royal Rumble) leading up to WrestleMania 29, which is will be his final match with the company.

Major Heat On Mysterio, Bad Ref Error On RAW, Neidhart

25

– As you can imagine, there is major heat on Rey Mysterio right now for his latest Wellness Policy violation. People are in disbelief that Mysterio is getting paid big money to sit at home while recovering from his latest injury – yet he reportedly came up positive for a narcotic drug.

Some people think that Kevin Nash’s recent tweet about a friend being released from WWE was referencing Rey Mysterio, but at this time, there has been no official announcement about him being released. He is currently serving a 60 day suspension and will be cleared to return to the ring at the end of May.

– A major error occurred on Monday’s RAW. Chris Jericho was supposed to defeat Big Show by count out in the Beat the Clock Challenge match, but the referee messed up the  count. While Jericho was going to win by 1 second, the plan all along was for Daniel Bryan to win the series and challenge CM Punk for the WWE Title.

– As noted several months ago here on the website, Jim Neidhart had a hearing on April 12th and was sent to jail, where he has remained since then. Neidhart will soon be heading to the Salvation Army in Tampa, FL for a substance abuse in-house rehab program.

Update On Chris Jericho Taking Time Off From WWE

29

It was announced early this week that Chris Jericho’s heavy metal band FOZZY will be performing on the upcoming Rockstar Uproar Tour, which takes place from August 15th through September 30th. One of the tour dates is August 19th, the night of SummerSlam.

During a recent red carpet interview at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, Jericho revealed that he’ll be taking a break from WWE soon to tour with Fozzy this summer.

While WWE’s live events page still lists Chris Jericho on the SummerSlam preview page, it remains to be seen if he will appear on the card.

Jericho is not currently advertised for any shows (with the exception of SummerSlam) from August until the RAW Supershow on October 1st from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK. He is also advertised for the WWE overseas tour which starts in late October.

That said, there’s a good chance that Chris Jericho will be written off WWE television prior to August 15th and eventually return to WWE full time this fall.

SmackDown & NXT Preview: Christian, Del Rio, New Talent

9

WWE will tape this week’s SmackDown and NXT shows tonight from Toledo, Ohio.

NXT: Redemption will continue tonight with week 61. Matt Striker announced last week’s that we’ll likely see several new talents debut from WWE developmental. No word yet on which wrestlers are getting called up, but we’ll have NXT/SmackDown spoilers up tonight.

As for SmackDown, this week’s show will feature World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Randy Orton teaming up against Kane and Daniel Bryan.

Also advertised for Friday’s SmackDown are appearances from #1 contender Alberto Del Rio as well as Christian. It’s worth noting that Christian was advertised for last week’s SmackDown and did not appear, but there were reports that WWE decided to hold off until after Extreme Rules to feature Christian’s return, so he will likely appear.

Yoshi Tatsu Rants About Lord Tensai’s Name & Vows To Defeat Him

24

Despite getting crushed by Lord Tensai several weeks ago, Yoshi Tatsu continues to rant about Tensai, stating that Tensai’s name is in bad taste and vowing to defeat Lord Tensai. Here’s what Tatusu wrote:

“As of today, I am planning to post several tweets regarding my thoughts and feelings toward Lord Tensai. First of all, I have a strong reason why I must defeat Lord Tensai. As in my Japanese lesson, “tensai” means natural disaster.”

“As everyone knows, Japan experienced a major earthquake and tsunami on March 11th of last year. More than 15,000 people lost their lives, over 5,000 people are still missing, and more than 5,000 people were injured. In addition, over 130,000 people lost their homes. Sadly, the recovery has been very slow. Many people are still living in temporary housing, without jobs. Moreover, the Japanese people haven’t been able to recover from the grief of losing family members, including children who lost their parents.”

“Out of respect, I strongly urge Lord Tensai to change his name. As Japanese superstar of WWE, I cannot tolerate him using this name during Japanese appearance. Even though he is tremendously big and very strong, I will defeat him someday. Japan was defeated by natural disasters – “TENSAI”. And I, Yoshi Tatsu is the one who defeats that “TENSAI”. When I beat him, I will make him change his name. This is #YoshiRevolution Episode 1.”

Update On Triple H’s Health After Brock Lesnar’s Attack

57

The WWE website has an article up looking at possible consequences for Brock Lesnar following his brutal attack on Triple H on Monday’s RAW Supershow.

The article states that Lesnar was escorted from the building by security and may be suspended or fined for attacking the COO. Since Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract stipulates that he is only required to make approximately 2 appearances per month, this will be a way to get him off television for a few weeks.

As per the storyline, Triple H’s arm was placed in a hold that “created a tremendous amount of torque on his upper arm and elbow.” WWE doctor Dr. Chris Amann was quoted in the article:

“He has a non-displaced fracture of distal humorous. Fortunately, this is not something that needs surgery with pins and screws. We’ll be treating him with a sling for comfort and following with him in the next few days.”

Bella Twins Leaving WWE

As previously reported, the Bella Twins are gone from WWE. The WWE storyline was that they were “fired,” but the reality is that their contracts were expiring at the end of April and they decided not to re-sign.

As recently as last week, there was a storyline in place for Kharma to return and destroy the Bella Twins to explain their departure, but that angle was scrapped when the details leaked online.

The Bella Twins tweeted the following after being released:

“Bella’s have left the building… Happy ending at the Nutter center??? Well at least we finished it off! #ByeByeBellas”
