Dana White Talks More About Brock Lesnar’s Return To WWE

10

UFC President Dana White spoke with MMAJunkie.com over the weekend about Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE:

“It was always upfront and said in his deal that he could do the WWE. Everything we did with that guy, nothing ever leaked out of that camp, ever leaks out of that camp. Those guys did a deal with (WWE promoter) Vince (McMahon), and I guarantee you Vince said, ‘Keep this a secret. Don’t tell anybody.’ And he did. He never said anything. He didn’t call me. I sent them a text and said, ‘Congrats on your deal. I’ll be watching.’ [Expletive] never got nothing back. They didn’t respond and say, ‘Hey, thanks we’re pumped.’ They just did their thing.”

White also said he watched Lesnar’s return to RAW and enjoyed it.

“For what they do, it’s cool. I’m happy for him. The fact that the guy came over here, did what he did in the WWE, came here and did what he did here, now he’s back over there. Good for him and good for them.”

Details On Kharma’s Return & Beth Phoenix Not Really Injured

44

While Beth Phoenix appeared to be legitimately injured on last night’s RAW Supershow, the “injury” was an angle – and the plan for her to drop the Divas Title to Nikki Bella has been in place for several weeks now.

WWE wanted to get the Divas Title off Beth Phoenix to pave the way for Kharma’s upcoming return. Kharma is slated to be Divas champion very soon – and WWE wanted to put the title on Kharma without her having to go through Beth Phoenix yet. As recent as last week, Nikki Bella was supposed to win the Divas title at Extreme Rules and then get destroyed by Kharma the next night on RAW. As we saw on RAW, Nikki Bella won the Divas title earlier than expected.

There is still a chance that Kharma will return on RAW next week and destroy the Bella Twins, which would explain their rumored departure from the company. Whether or not the Bella Twins negotiate a new deal and decide to stay with WWE, a Divas title feud between Kharma and Beth Phoenix is brewing.

Backstage News On Edge’s WWE Contract & Why He Was At RAW

59

WWE Hall of Famer Edge made a surprise appearance on Monday’s RAW Supershow from Detoit, giving John Cena a pep talk about what its going to take to defeat Brock Lesnar this Sunday at Extreme Rules.

It turns out that Edge was at RAW to do more than just motivate Cena. Edge was at RAW to negotiate a new “Legends” contract, according to pwinsdier.com.

News broke recently that Edge’s WWE contract is expiring soon – and WWE reportedly tried offering Edge a “lowball” deal.  While the exact figure that WWE offered Edge is not yet known, it’s believed that Shawn Michaels makes around $300,000 a year from WWE under his current deal. It’s said that the contract WWE offered recently Edge wasn’t even offered close to what Michaels makes.

No word yet on how Monday night’s contract negotiations went.

– WWE plugged a WWE.com article on RAW speculating whether Chris Jericho is the company’s new “Cerebral Assassin” – a nickname Triple H has been using for years. While it appears that WWE might be setting up a Jericho vs. Triple H feud, there are currently no plans to bring Triple H back to television on a regular basis.

– Wade Barrett’s Twitter account has apparently been taken over by his lawyer. Barrett’s account tweeted on Monday night:

“Due to a number of factors, Mr. Barrett has signed the administration of this account over to his attorney for the foreseeable future. Mr. Barrett will be making no further comment at this stage. Regards, Peter Lazarou, Esq.”

Barrett is still injured and is expected to be out of action until around Summerslam.

Videos: Vince McMahon Sings Happy Birthday To John Cena After RAW

– Josh Mathews is in “stable condition” after he was attacked by Brock Lesnar on RAW. WWE’s Dr. Michael Sampson was interviewed by the company website and said Matthews is going to be undergoing an MRI this week:

“When [Josh] was thrown through the set, he did land and twisted his neck, and he’s experiencing some neck stiffness, tightness. [We want] to make sure there’s no other serious damage other than just a neck sprain, which is a good sign.”

– Rosa Mendes tweeted the following after RAW about tag team champions Primo and Epico not getting the respect they deserve:

“Lots of action on #Raw tonight, we still aren’t getting the RESPECT we deserve! We are tag team champs para Siempre!”

Naughty Nikki, huh? It’s got a nice ring to it.

– WWE is now one of the top earners for YouTube. The new partnership between the two companies has been very rewarding for both sides. In an unprecedented move, WWE is now publishing RAW videos on their channel as the show airs on the East Coast – before it airs on the West Coast.

Beth Phoenix & WWE Doctor Comment On Her Ankle Injury

24

On Monday’s RAW, Beth Phoenix injured her ankle during her match with Nikki Bella, which allowed Bella  to defeat her and capture the WWE Divas championship.

The WWE website spoke with the doctor that treated the Glamazon following her injury –

“It looks like she affected her anterior talofibular ligament, which is the most common injured ankle ligament on an inversion injury. She has some swelling, [and] she’s having a hard time walking or ambulating on it. We’re going to need an MRI just to make sure there’s nothing else going on and see how we can treat it – if we need surgery or if we can do it conservatively.”

Phoenix was less than two weeks away from becoming the longest reigning Divas champion in history before her loss. She tweeted the following statement on Tuesday morning

“Thank you to everyone that helped me thru the airport this morning. Will keep every posted on MRI and xray results. Believe me…nothing hurts worse than my heart right now after the loss and even worse thought of missing competition. But i have been bere before, and if there is one thing Beth Phoenix knows how to do, it’s rise from the ashes. The title will be mine again. #unbreakable.”

Videos Fom After RAW: John Cena Birthday Celebration

34

After Monday’s RAW Supershow from Detroit went off the air, WWE Champion CM Punk and John Cena defeated Chris Jericho and Kane in a tag team dark match. Making light of his sobriety test earlier in the show, Punk staggered during the bout and acted ‘CM Drunk.’

After the match, the WWE locker room – including Vince McMahon and Triple H – appeared on stage to celebrate Cena’s 35th birthday. Punk and Triple H lead the  Superstars and Divas in a singing of “Happy Birthday” to Cena.

Triple H then asked The Great Khali to sing “Happy Birthday” to Cena one more time, which he did.

The WWE Divas then piled on Cena in the middle of the ring – and there’s video of the whole scene below:

WWE RAW 3-Hour Supershow Results (4/23)

33

RAW will kick off with the Extreme Rules contract signing between Brock Lesnar & John Cena. Justin Roberts introduces the former SmackDown GM, Teddy Long. Long introduces John Cena. Lesnar’s music hits and John Cena looks scared. Out walks .. John Laurinaitis, who says there the contract signing will take place when Brock Lesnar gets here – and it will be on Brock’s terms. Cena shouldn’t worry about the contract signing though, because Cena might not make it to Extreme Rules. He orders Teddy Long to make Cena leave the ring.

Long welcomes people to People Power – as … YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME … EDGE’s music hits and the Rated R Superstar comes out to a huge pop. He hits the ring and has something to say. Edge says he isn’t supposed to be here tonight and his WWE contract expires in a few days. He came to talk to Cena – but not this John Cena. He doesn’t even know who the hell this John Cena is. He came to talk to the John Cena who was his greatest rival ever. The Cena he went to war with. He understands that superstars change after losing huge matches. Andre after Hogan. Bret after the Montreal Screwjob. The Rock after Brock Lesnar. He needs the real John Cena back. He screams at Cena to WAKE UP, as Cena looks at him with a somber expression. He’s not asking Cena to beat Brock Lesnar – he’s telling him to. Edge takes off and Cena looks like the pep talk hit close to home. Commercial.

The lights go out and Chris Jericho’s music hits. Jericho comes to the ring in a new blinky jacket that’s got red and blue lights. Very trendy. Out next is his opponent – Kofi Kingston. Big pyro for Kofi as we get this one started. Solid action for the first few minutes, with Jericho in control early and Kofi getting in some offense as well. Kofi nails Jericho with a cannonball dive to the outside of the ring and connects. Kofi returns to the ring and we go to commercial with Jericho down outside of the ring. Lots of back and forth action. Kofi was heating up and gaining a lot of momentum when he went to the outside apron. He did a springboard jump off the top rope but got caught with a devastating code breaker. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho and he gets the pin. Jericho grabs the mic and says he’s going to beat Punk this Sunday at Extreme Rues. Punk knows a lot about Extreme – hes’ got an extremely alcoholic father, an extremely drug addicted sister, an extremely morally challenged mommy and he’s an extreme disappointment/failure as a champion and as a human being. In front of his home town, family and friends and wannabe fans, he’s going to give him and Extreme beating. He said he gave Punk a present earlier in the evening that’s going to help him cope with the upcoming loss of his WWE championship.

Brock Lesnar video package showing his debut match against Jeff Hardy from Backlash 2002. Lesnar destroyed Hardy – as referee Teddy Long stopped the match. The contract signing is still to come tonight. Commercial.

Velvet Sky On Transition To Singles Wrestler, Dream Opponent

7

Promoting TNA Wrestling’s live event at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Velvet Sky addressed a number of topics in an lengthy interview with The Miami Herald including her transition to a singles competitor, the state of the Knockouts division, becoming the Women’s Knockout Champion last year her dream opponent and more. Highlights are as follows:

Branching out as a singles wrestler after being attached to Angelina Love: “For a while it was me and Angelina [Love in The Beautiful People]. I was never able to shine really and do anything on my own because she was always in the spotlight.

“Since then, they’ve broken up the Beautiful People, which I’m sad about because I wish they were still going forward with that. We had a lot of fun, her and I together, but I just feel like they broke us up, and I was able to be on my own as a singles competitor.

“I just feel I have grown in the sense of you don’t have someone to have your back all the time. You don’t have the option to tag out and recuperate. I feel, more or less, being a singles competitor instead of in a tag team has helped me branch out and come into my own as a performer.”

TNA providing the Knockouts the time to tell stories each week and the freedom to progress: “It’s awesome here because TNA lets us explore character development. We are not just coming out there as girls wrestling and then you don’t see us for a couple of weeks. We get to do backstage vignettes and promos. They let us speak on the microphone, and we do a lot of it in the ring. You don’t see that elsewhere.

“There are matches [elsewhere] where the girls will wrestle for three minutes or so and go to the back. They don’t say a word, and you really don’t know who is who. Here [TNA] we are so grateful we get the chance to be able to come into our own, have time to talk and have our characters develop. I just feel like that has us connected with the fans more.”

Her dream opponent: “I would absolutely love to work with Amy Dumas one day, the wrestler formally known as Lita.

“She is the whole reason I wanted to get into this business. I have always been a fan of wrestling here and there, but when I saw her for the first time, I was just so blown away by her look and athletic ability and how she connected to the crowd, whether it was male or female.

“I try to pattern myself after her. I don’t do the high-flying maneuvers, staying on the ground, but she is the whole reason I wanted to get into this business and got into wrestling. If she were to come here, I think that would be awesome. I would love to work with her one day.”

Brodus Clay Recalls Backstage Criticsm From Triple H

14

During an interview with WWE Magazine, Brodus Clay spoke about a backstage conversation he had with Triple H shortly before he disappeared from television for 6 weeks earlier this year.

After wrestling Alex Riley on the January 27th episode of WWE RAW, Clay said he saw Triple H after his match and expressed frustration with the choreograph of his character’s dance moves. Triple H’s response was not what the Funkasaurus was expecting:

“One night, I came backstage after a match against Alex Riley and I was so upset. Triple H said, ‘What’s the matter?’ and I explained that the choreography was off. He’s staring and me and I’m like, ‘Wait. Am I upset over the choreography?’ He said, ‘Yeah, you are.’ I didn’t know how to feel about that. But, I’m always worried about the dancing – that I’ll fall.”

Clay went on to wrestle Drew McIntyre the Royal Rumble that weekend and Tyler Reks on the following week’s RAW before being takent off television until March 12th.

There had been various online reports that Clay was kept off television because WWE management thought his work was sloppy and he needed more training. His comments to WWE Magazine seem to corroborate these reports.
