Has Goldust Been Released By WWE?, Vintage Tag Team Matches

17

— A rumor surfaced days ago on Twitter that Dustin “Goldust” Runnels, who has been working behind the scenes for WWE, has been released from his contract with the sports entertainment organization. He also began promoting a new Twitter account last week, @DRHODES_SAYS. Adding further suspicion to his status with the company, WWE.com transferred his profile from the Raw Superstars section to the Alumni section on Friday. The organization has not issued an announcement concerning Runnels being released.

HHH Appears Uninjured In Vegas, Criss Angel To Work With WWE?

35

Late Friday night, illusionist Criss Angel tweeted a photo (below) of himself with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at his Believe™ show at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, “The King of Kings” was conspicuously not wearing an arm sling after WWE.com announced earlier in the evening that he would require surgery following Brock Lesnar’s vicious application of the Kimura Lock on his left arm Monday night on Raw SuperShow.

To explain Triple H appearing uninjured alongside his wife and Angel, the official Twitter feed of the WWE Insider stated Saturday morning that he was wearing a brace on his left arm in the photo opportunity. However, the alleged brace is not visible as “The Game” has his left arm behind Angel in both photographs not to mention that he is wearing a long-sleeved shirt. Check out the picture here:

Meanwhile, Angel suggested a possible collaboration with WWE in his message as he hashtagged #Summerslam and said he planned to meet the couple on Saturday:

“Friends #tripleH #StephanieMcMahon #WWE #SummerSlam after #BeLIEve tonight. Great 2Cu. C u tomorrow.”

Triple H Requires Surgery After Being Attacked By Brock Lesnar

14

Following Brock Lesnar’s application of the Kimura Lock on Triple H’s left arm Monday night on Raw SuperShow, the Chief Operating Officer of WWE will require surgery, WWE.com reports.

After Lesnar erupted and targeted The Game’s left arm, the WWE Superstar could be heard saying “it’s broken” as he was helped up the ramp and out of the arena. X-rays later confirmed Triple H’s belief.

WWE adds: “Medical officials were initially optimistic that the fracture in Triple H’s left arm could be treated non-invasively, but further examination revealed that the break, in addition to severe ligament and tendon damage around the elbow, would necessitate surgical repair.”

WWE is advertising a follow-up to determine how the “Board of Directors will respond to this sinister assault or what consequences await the former UFC champion.”

Scott Steiner Fires Back At Eric Bischoff In Latest Twitter Rant

32

As reported earlier, Eric Bischoff finally responded to Scott Steiner’s numerous scathing remarks on Twitter on Thursday. After “Big Poppa Pump” wrote on the social networking website, “At Shoney’s to Go Grand Opening in Buford….awesome food,” the TNA Wrestling executive responded, “50+ year old man pitching greasy fried chicken in Buford and wrestling indys in front of 250 fans…bitter?” Bischoff then retweeted comments on his timeline with an anti-Steiner stance, many of which accuse him of drug abuse.

In response, Steiner issued a warning to Bischoff as well as Hulk Hogan, and also disclosed the meaning of “609.” Steiner wrote:

World Title Match Announced For Over the Limit, “WWE” Turns 10

20

— Sheamus will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio on May 20 at Over the Limit. The Mexican grappler’s victory over Sheamus on the April 6 SmackDown guaranteed him a future World Heavyweight Championship Match.

Other matches scheduled for the event include John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis and WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan.

— Today marks the ten year anniversary of “WWE.” On May 5, 2002, Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment organization launched a “Get The F Out” marketing campaign and changed all references on its website from “WWF” to “WWE,” while switching the URL from WWF.com to WWE.com. The next day, a press release was issued announcing the official name change from World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. to World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., or WWE, and the change was publicized later that evening during Raw.

The name change stemmed from an abbreviation dispute with the World Wide Fund for Nature. In 2000, the environmental organization sued the World Wrestling Federation for unfair trade practices, claiming the wrestling company had violated a 1994 agreement regarding international use of the WWF initials. On August 10, 2001, an English court ruled in favor of the World Wide Fund for Nature.

— As reported earlier, Mark Henry was removed from advertising for this week’s Raw brand house show tour in Tennessee; he was slated to wrestle John Cena and WWE Champion CM Punk. Dolph Ziggler will take Henry’s place in Cena’s matches.

— WWE referee Chad Patton turns 36 years old today.

35

— WWE’s Executive Vice President of Creative Stephanie McMahon was joined by Sheamus, Mark Henry, Eve and Alberto Del Rio at a be a STAR Alliance rally Friday morning in the South Bronx as they stressed the importance of putting an end to bullying.

“It’s the most important initiative of WWE right now,” said Stephanie. “I’m incredibly proud to be a part of the be a STAR Alliance.” She then asked the pre-teens how many of them had been bullied; more than half of the crowd raised their hands.

“You’re not alone. That’s why WWE and The Creative Coalition have partnered together for the be a STAR initiative,” she said.

Full coverage from the event is available here.

— Marcus “Buff” Bagwell is at home recovering after being involved in a serious car accident last week while traveling near his hometown of Marietta, Georgia. Former WCW colleague Marc Mero wrote Friday on Facebook, “A Miracle! My friend and Pro wrestler Marcus “Buff” Bagwell is home and recovering from a near life ending accident. I can’t thank you enough for your prayers. I believe God has a greater purpose for his life. We are texting each other as he can’t talk right now due to his injuries. JR Blog: Brock Lesnar, Michael Cole’s Commentary, Tag Teams

10

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQcom. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Michael Cole’s Commentary: “I’ve been impressed with Michael Cole’s more balanced commentary recently. He’s the new voice of WWE w/o question. Our handshake at WM28 ended any personal issues that I may have had with him. End of story.”

WWE’s Tag Team Division: “I see WWE tag team wrestling taking positive steps forward in 2012. Go ahead, roll your eyes at will. The lack of overall talent depth, no territories, etc affects all areas of the genre whether some fans want to admit it or not.”

His Favorite Broadcast Partner: “Besides the King, my favorite broadcast partner, when looking at antagonists, is @HeymanHustle. He knew what buttons to push to get me to raise my game. I never played the role of an announcer and was always just myself, for better or for worse. Being real. Bobby Heenan was an amazing partner too but ‘The Brain’ was more funny than a villain. I’ve said it before, Bobby Heenan may well be the most talented, all around performer in the history of the wrestling business.”

Brock Lesnar: “Lesnar and WWE may be a marriage made in Hell but it’s a relationship that I, as a fan, want to follow. When we signed Brock back in the day we knew tht he was going to be a handful and he was. However, athletic freaks like him don’t grow on trees and, like many coaches, etc, we put in the time necessary to keep Brock headed in the right direction as best that we could. He’s stubborn, anti social, uber talented, and volatile. Time will tell where Lesnar’s latest foray into WWE life takes him but as for me, I’m staying tuned.”

Pictures: Chyna Gets More Plastic Surgery

96

Former WWE diva turned porn star Chyna was at the Gold Gala over the weekend – and it appears she has had some drastic plastic surgery performed. This was her first public appearance since January, when she was already showing signs of face work. Now, it would be hard to deny it.

Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn spoke to Celebitchy.com about Chyna’s drastically different appearance:

“Chyna’s face looks like a bloated version of itself… It appears that a cosmetic surgeon plumped it up beyond recognition, likely with injections of fat or other facial filler. To say it looks overdone is an understatement.”

TNA Commentary News, Flair’s Daughter Training, Gut Check

6

– Scott Steiner’s recent claim that TNA announcers no longer call TNA action for Orlando is partially true. Mike Tenay and Tazz do commentary live from the Impact Zone on weeks when that show airs the same week. On weeks when the episode of Impact that is taped does not air until the following week, they fly to Nashville do commentary in post-production, after the show has been edited. This is done because TNA wants to keep the commentary timely and does not want it to be outdated by the time the show airs a week later.

– Ric Flair’s daughter Ashley is now training to be a professional wrestler.

– Al Snow is the person who hand picked Alex Silva to participate in the most recent Gutcheck Challenge on Impact. Moving forward, Gutcheck will feature talents similar to Silva, mostly from TNA’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling. OVW has had an increase in business thanks to TNA, including a local pizza sponsorship and several former names returning, including Cliff Compton.

TNA plans add other new concepts to Impact in the coming months.

– TNA will run a series of shows in California this weekend, with a show at the Citizen’s Bank Arena in Ontario, CA tonight, a show at the Robobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA Saturday night and a Basebrawl event at the Visalia Rawhide Park in Visalia, CA on Sunday.

– Jeff and Karen Jarrett worked the April 30 AAA TV taping in Mexico over the weekend. Chessman and Jeff Jarrett defeated Juventud Guerrera and La Parka Jr when Jarrett used a guitar on Guerrera.

– WWE developmental talent DT Porter, who is currently out of action with a knee injury, posted the following message on his Facebook account. Based on what he’s writing – one has to question his mental stability and whether he has what it takes to make it in the business:

“Guys, I don’t know how much longer I can handle this. Every day is a constant struggle to keep my sanity. I love wrestling and it’s all I ever wanted to do. Already going crazy since I’ve been for like ten months now, but it gets worse. Every day a trainer goes out of his way to rib or disrespect me in front of the boys because I’ve been out so long. I can’t clear myself. I wanna wrestle more than anything, but I don’t even know who I am anymore. It’s so fucking hard. I just feel it just building inside of me and I don’t know how much longer I can contain it. I have daydreams of just fucking everyone up on some real shit. I’m not a kid. I’m a fucking man. But what do you do when the people in charge of helping you get to the main roster are the ones making your life the hardest. I’ve been drinking almost every day. It’s to the point to where I keep Vodka and Gin in my trunk. Help me!”

Brutus Beefcake Talks Andre Memories, “Barber” Gimmick Origin

1

Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) of theScore Television Network caught up with Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake. Beefcake appears more open in this piece that in some interviews in the past. Highlights:

Watching Hulk Hogan play baseball as a kid and who decided to try wrestling first.

Memories of the “Barber Shop”:

“The one I did with Andre The Giant is probably my favorite because I watched him my whole life. It was the best interview segment that I ever saw him do. It makes me proud knowing that he was excited for it. He didn’t like doing interviews. For him to step up the way he did was an honor to me. That’s a show of respect in our business. That huge man stepped up and wanted to do a good job for me.”

What gave him the will to live after enduring a near fatal para-sailing accident, both his parents dying and a divorce in the early 90s.

— For those wondering whether John Laurinaitis is actually going to wrestle John Cena at Over the Limit – it’s not just a ‘bait and switch’ angle. Laurinaitis was an active wrestler in Japan until 2000 and began training this week at one of WWE’s warehouses in Connecticut where they keep several rings set up.

Vince McMahon Furious Wtih WWE.com Staff, Live Event Changes

5

– WWE CEO Vince McMahon has been furious with the staff of WWE.com and there’s a good chance WWE’s upcoming releases will include several members of the website staff.

Aside from soft website traffic, Vince could not believe that nobody from the WWE.com staff was at the WrestleMania 29 press conference several weeks ago when Vince met with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

– Vince McMahon also recently told his live events coordinators that there are to be more planning and rehearsals done for the shows. He also wants writers and producers to communicate more.

As hands-on as Vince already is with WWE events, a source in WWE said that televised and live events will be even more rigidly scripted moving forward.

Fear Over WWE Releases, Video Of Lawler’s NBA Piledriver

13

There is a lot of mid-card talent in WWE that are concerned about their jobs. WWE typically does “spring cleaning” and releases several wrestlers this time of year. Especially with huge money being paid to Brock Lesnar and new talent getting called up to NXT and the main roster in the coming weeks, cuts are expected soon.

WWE Superstar Mason Ryan will be appearing at tonight’s FCW event from Eustis, Florida. He’ll be doing a meet and greet before the show and will be wrestling.

As previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler made a surprise appearance at Wednesday night’s Memphis Grizzlies home playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

— Mark Henry has been pulled from advertising for this week’s RAW brand live events. He had been scheduled to wrestle John Cena and WWE Champion CM Punk this weekend.

MAILBAG: Who Had The Better Career, Rock or Shawn Michaels?

40

SEScoops Mailbag for May 3rd

(please submit YOUR questions to [email protected])

Q: Do you think we will ever see a three-city WrestleMania like [we did for WM2]? I guess there would have to be a main event in each city to attract an audience. – Jay

A: There is a reason they haven’t tried this again since 1986. Logistically, it would be something of a nightmare. More importantly, they wouldn’t be able to claim a record crowd in any one stadium, which they often like to do, because by splitting up the roster, there’s no way they would be able to sell out each building. Plus, their talent roster is pretty thin on main eventers these days. Don’t hold your breath.

Q: Do you see it coming too? The Mason Ryan/Brock Lesnar feud? Or maybe Ryback and Ryan, or Ryback and Lesnar! – Ryan B.

A: If the plan is to pay Lesnar millions of dollars to do jobs for all of their guys and make them all look good, then I suppose Ryback vs. Lesnar is as good an idea as any. Hell, maybe that’s what Vince is holding off Kharma’s return for.

Q: Did WWE decide that Michael Cole was being too harsh and [toned him down]? It seems like he’s [no longer a] full heel. – Kyle G.

A: Cole was never a full heel, his character has always been bipolar since this angle began. Supposedly, WrestleMania was to have been the end of that version of the Michael Cole character, so you are correct in that his shtick has been toned down. It only took them a year and a half to figure out the damage he was doing to their product.

Q: With all the financial woes that have been reported lately, and poor viewership numbers [for Impact Wrestling], if Daddy Carter was ever to pull the rug out from Dixie, do you think Vince would buy TNA? Or would he bring in TNA wrestlers and finally do a proper invasion angle without it falling apart? – Tyler H.

A: The numbers for Impact has slipped of late, but we’ll see if that changes once they switch to their new timeslot later this month. The company just signed a new two-year deal with Spike TV, so they should be stable for at least that long. As for what Vince would be, I would think he’d make an offer to buy out the trademarks and tape library, if for no other reason than the fact that they are launching a new network and need content for it. An invasion done correctly could be exciting, particularly with guys like Samoa Joe, Magnus, AJ Styles, Bully Ray, Storm & Roode, etc, but based on their track record, WWE has no idea how to follow through on such an angle. They start out hot and then fizzle quickly because they either don’t know what to do next or, more likely, feel the need to beat the “other guys” to prove their superiority over them. This would be no different.

Q: Do you think we will ever see The Undertaker have another title run? – Shambo from Australia

A: No, I don’t see what the point would be. His character doesn’t need a championship and quite frankly, his WrestleMania Streak is treated with greater value than any title in the company right now. If he’s only going to wrestle once a year, it makes even less sense to put a title on him.

Q: I remember when Kharma was leaving because she was pregnant and what The Bellas did, talking down to her about being pregnant and her being ugly and stuff. Do you think The Bellas feel bad about that now because of what happened to [Kharma’s] baby? – Shane Walker

A: It was all part of a storyline, nothing for them to feel ashamed about. If I were them, I’d be more upset about WWE swerving the fans and not paying off a year-long angle by having Kharma destroy them on their way out, instead opting for having Layla just beat them for no reason.

Q: Who was the bigger star overall in their WWE career, The Rock or Shawn Michaels? – David Jones

A: Talk about a loaded question. If we’re talking strictly their WWE career, Shawn certainly has more years under his belt and more five-star matches, but one can’t deny the popularity of The Rock and the money he made for the company when he was on top. I’ll leave this in the hands of the SEScoops readers in the comments section below. What do you guys think?
