New Trademarks For R-Truth & Sin Cara, Rock Training Hard

39

– WWE recently filed for several new trademarks. The first is for the phrase, “Suntan Super Man” – which was R-Truth’s nickname back in TNA. With R-Truth’s “Little Jimmy” gimmick (a Vince McMahon creation) getting over this year and his recent alignment with former WWE champion The Miz, it appears Truth will remain one of the top featured performers on WWE television in the coming months.

The other trademarks filed are for Sin Cara- namely, his masks. WWE just secured trademarks for black, white and gold Sin Cara masks, so either the original Sin Cara is getting new masks or we could see even more Sin Caras in WWE.

– The Rock is training hard for his WWE return match at Survivor Series – his first match since WrestleMania 20 (which also took place from MSG). Rock posted the following photo of himself delivering a Rock Bottom to some unknown jabronie with the caption:

“Training for Survivor Series. Boots To Motherf*****n Asses. #TeamBringIt”

Check out the height on this Rock Bottom!

Mick Foley Teases That He’ll The Mystery RAW GM

29

It’s been rumored for quite some time that hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley is on his way back to WWE. Foley has been putting over WWE in recent interviews and even slipped up a few weeks ago on Twitter, teasing that he might appear at Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. The tweet was later deleted.

Foley dropped yet another hint this weekend that he’ll be at Hell in a Cell during a live chat he took part in at Reddit.com. Towards the end of the chat session, Foley wrote the following – a pretty strong implication that he’ll  be at Hell in a Cell

“I’m going to have to end this AMA chat in about 15 minutes..have to e-mail Michael Cole, and make my flight reservations for New orleans for Sunday. Wait, I didn’t mean to say that! Pay no attention to that man!”

Foley did not appear at Hell in a Cell as teased, but by saying he needs to email Michael Cole – could that be a hint that Mick Foley is the mystery RAW General Manager?

How Much Is WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s Stock Worth?

14

Forbes published an article on Thursday looking at “Who Got Rich This Week” on Wallstreet – and WWE CEO Vince McMahon is one of this week’s big winners.

After WWE’s stock recently bottomed out at $8.80, it has bounced back to the mid-9’s – a gain that earned Vince McMahon nearly $17 million (on paper). WWE television’s recent debut in Portugal is seen as a factor in the stock’s stabilization.

As of this week’s trading – the value of Vince McMahon’s WWE stock was valued at approximately $400 million.

Back when the stock was trading at close to double its current level – Vince’s overall wealth was over $1 billion.

Ziggler Dismisses Perfect Comparisons, Ex-WWE Diva At DWTS

15

— Dolph Ziggler answered a series of never before asked questions for DolphZiggler.com including what is the most annoying question that interviewers ask him.

He responds, “Do you model yourself after Mr. Perfect?” — the answer is no! He was awesome and I was obviously a huge fan. We both have frizzy hair and are great athletes, he’s a Hall of Famer and I’m trying to get there! I have carved my own personality and love showing off, but because of my hair and WWE theme song that says “perfection,” I’m a ‘Mr. Perfect’ clone!”

Matt Hardy Essentially Forced Into Rehab By Judge

16

Former WWE & TNA star Matt Hardy recently announced that he’s entering WWE-sponsored rehab, but now a report by North Carolina’s The Pilot newspaper reveals that Hardy’s decision to finally get help was mandated by a judge.

The Pilot reports that Matt Hardy was essentially forced to enter a rehabilitation program following his most recent arrest. Magistrate Charlie Smoak agreed to release the former WWE Superstar on a “promise to appear” in court that was tied to his undergoing treatment for substance abuse.

“That is only part of the release order,” Krueger said. “It also states that he must comply with a treatment program or be placed in the detention center under a $1 million bond.”

On September 14, Moore County deputies searched Hardy’s Cameron, North Carolina home and charged Hardy with possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver, possessing a controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for use of drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following their search at his residence, deputies said they had discovered “one hit” of the drug known as ecstasy and also found 20 vials of anabolic steroids.

This was his third arrest within a month. On August 19, Hardy crashed his Cadillac into a guard rail on U.S. 1 in Southern Pines but was not cited. The next day, he ran his Corvette into a tree south of Vass. That resulted in a DWI charge.

On September 12, police arrested Hardy outside RDU International Airport Monday afternoon and charged him with driving under the influence. He was given a written promise to appear at the Wake County courthouse in Raleigh on November 30.

Steve Austin Says Del Rio Is Not Ready To Be Champion

56

During an interview with Patrick Lennon of the UK’s Daily Star, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin took a few shots at Alberto Del Rio –  saying he’s not ready to be WWE champion just yet.

“Well I don’t think Del Rio is ready to carry that belt. It’s ok for a short period of time, give him his first mini title run and try to groom him. He’s still got another year or two to go before he learns the US system.

“He’s a good looking kid and I know he’s been around Mexico and MMA.”

Despite the fact that many WWE fans are sick of John Cena as the face of WWE, Steve Austin says Cena is the most polished performer in WWE and right man for the job.

“When I look at that company right now, John Cena is the guy who anchors it all. Some people get mad because they feel like WWE shove it down your throat, but he’s the main guy! Whether you love to hate him or you love to love him – you gotta respect him.

“I have a lot of respect for John – he’s been carrying the company for several years and he comes into work every day with a smile on his face and does all the promotional work and never complains.”

Austin put over John Cena’s track record of great matches and says he’s probably got several more years in him on top:

“I tell you John Cena has had some great matches with some great guys – sometimes his body of work gets overlooked, the guy has proven himself over and over again. I call a spade a spade and John has done a tremendous job and he’s got a few years left yet. He’ll keep riding that lightening bolt.”

13

— TNA World Tag Team Champion Hernandez’s current contract will expire soon, reports ProWrestling.net.

— Sarita issued the following statement on her Facebook page regarding accounts posing as her on social networking sites.

She wrote, “I have noticed that there are some new *FAKE* twitter and facebook accounts popping up, I just wanted to let all of my amazing fans know that this is the only social networking site that I use, don’t be fooled by imposters! Thanks again to all my incredible fans for your support!”

— Angelina Love has been added to Legends of the Ring XIII, which takes place Saturday, October 8 at the Crowne Plaza in Monroe, New Jersey. Visit www.legendsofthering.com for more information.

Zack Ryder Talks About His Show & How WWE Feels

15

Zack Ryder was recently interviewed by Sam Roberts of NotSam.com and spoke about the popularity of his Z! True Long Island Story video series.

After his former ‘Edgehead’ gimmick ran its course on SmackDown a few years ago, Ryder said he was getting “zero” television time and had to take matters into his own hands to get exposure. Ryder says he hated having long hair back when he was an Edgehead – and his current “Broski” character is “100% him.” Ryder says whatever he’s doing is working, because he’s been featured on RAW in recent weeks and is getting the biggest push of his career.

When asked about whether he’s gotten heat from WWE management over his YouTube videos, Ryder said, “There wasn’t any trouble, but I was definitely kind of hesitant and kind of scared. But at the same time I was like, listen, they’re not doing anything with me, so if I’m going to go out, I’m going to go out swinging. All or nothing, this is my last shot. I wouldn’t say it paid off, but it’s finally been recognized.”

MAILBAG: When Did John Cena Become The Face Of WWE?

14

SEScoops Mailbag for September 29th

(please submit YOUR questions to [email protected])

Q: Why does Impact Wrestling and Impact pay-per-views have 4 hot chicks in the front every single week? They are always in the same spot too. So is Impact paying hot chicks to stand up front, are they that desperate? – Abbas R.

A: They are plants. And I don’t mean that as an insult, I have no idea what their IQ is, they may well be as smart as a potted plant, but they are not there every week because of their passion for wrestling.

Q: Why does it seem like the WWE Title is better and more recognizable to have than the World Heavyweight Title? To me the World Heavyweight Title would be better because your the champion of “the whole world” as opposed to being the champion of just “the WWE”. And isn’t the World Heavyweight Championship the old title that all the other legends held? – John P.

A: WWE doesn’t care much for acknowledging that any world exists outside their little bubble, so to them, carrying the WWE Title is far more prestigious. A big part of why it gets more recognition has to do with that title being the centerpiece of their flagship brand. Any Raw title is going to have more emphasis placed on it than a Smackdown title, that’s just the way it is. As for whether this WHC is the “old title that all the other legends had”, that simply isn’t the case. The physical belt bears a resemblance to Ric Flair’s old “big gold” belt because that is what it is modeled after, but the lineage of the current title starts with Triple H pulling it out of a briefcase on Raw in 2002. It has no connection to the title that Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Sting and others once held.

Q: When did [John] Cena become the face of the company? Was it around WrestleMania 22 or 23 during his feuds with HBK, Triple H and Edge? – Marc

A: Those feuds helped solidify him as a main eventer, but I would say that when he was drafted to Raw in June 2005, while still WWE champion on Smackdown, the decision was made for him and not Batista to be the face of the company. It’s quite a sobering thought when you stop and realize that Cena has already been the “face” of WWE for double the amount of time Steve Austin was. As a matter of fact, he’s quickly approaching Hulk Hogan in that department.

Q: What are your thoughts on [John] Cena matches? Do you happen to think Cena is lazy? And what are your thoughts on Chavo [Guerrero] not wanting Cena to surpass Ric Flair’s 16 title reigns? Why isn’t he hating on Sting and Kurt Angle who hold the title a lot in TNA too? – James

A: You can dislike John Cena for a lot of reasons, but being lazy is not one of those reasons. In fact, the guy is about as far from lazy as one can get. He travels wherever the company sends him, including on his days off, and rarely sees the inside of his own house. He goes above and beyond for WWE, which is a big part of why he’s in the position he is in. Is he lazy because he doesn’t spend time learning new moves? Hulk Hogan made plenty of money and did just fine sticking with his routine when he was on top in WWE, too. It’s not as though people are going to suddenly stop hating on the guy if he busts out a hurricanrana (I’d pay to see this) and a few submission holds, so why bother? As for Chavo, he’s clearly craving attention. Who could possibly care? And I laughed heartily at the last part of your question. I can picture Master Splinter at the end of a Ninja Turtles movie shouting, “I made a funny!”

Q: I was looking up old promos for PPVs, and I saw one for Randy Orton vs. Edge from 2005. The match was for the Intercontinental title and the promo was well done, it had a good feud behind it and I realized something. When was the last time we got good build up for a mid-card title feud? The last one I can think of is Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio. Do you think that WWE can do anything to help the IC title gain its prestige back? – Matt from Wisconsin

A: The days of the IC title meaning what it used to in the mid-to-late 80’s are over. It’s just a different era now and there are many more titles than there were back then. People have been conditioned to think that only the World titles mean anything, and even then, they’re rarely treated as anything special these days with how many times they change and how many title shots a person can get (see John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, Christian just to name a few). However, you can work to bring SOME of that prestige back by doing two things. First, get rid of the U.S. Title. Now that Smackdown guys can appear on Raw, it’s completely pointless having two secondary titles on TV. Second, put the IC title on someone like CM Punk, a person the fans care about and can get behind, who is viewed as a true top-level talent and who can go out there and have great matches with almost anyone. They’ve put the strap on main event guys before (see Triple H, Chris Jericho and Kane in 2001), which is the key here because without it, fans aren’t going to care. The goal then over time would be to have them help put over a mid-card guy who’s missing that one ingredient until they finally win the championship. Now you’ve made a new superstar AND made the title mean something. This is not rocket science.

Q: I was watching COPS and they were in North Carolina following officers. I’m wondering how it is possible I watched two full episodes and not once saw Matt Hardy getting popped for DUI/DWI. Did I blink? – Joe

A: Kurt Angle probably happened to be in town.

Stacy Keibler Poses Nude, George Clooney Denies Love Triangle

12
Stacy Keibler Poses Nude For A New Book, "CULO" (Click To Enlarge)

– Hollywood actor George Clooney is said to be furious about a report in the tabloid magazine US Weekly that claims his ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis recently sent him angry text messages and was unhappy with Clooney’s relationship with Stacy Keibler.

Clooney, who is always very private about his personal life and romantic relationships, has demanded reporters correct their story and commented on the story to TMZ.com. Clooney told TMZ:

“(The report) was completely fabricated in order to sell magazines. I never comment on my personal life unless it affects others… and this lie affects others.”

“Since I would be the only actual witness, I ask you to correct your story immediately, but that would assume you cared at all about telling the truth.”

– George Clooney took girlfriend Stacy Keibler to the red carpet premiere of his new film, “Ides of March,” on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The two were not photographed together, but you can see pictures of both Keibler and Clooney on the red carpet at HuffingtonPost.com.

– Stacy Keibler recently posed nude for a new book titled Culo, co-edited by Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs and Interscope record executive Jimmy Iovine. Regarding the revealing photo shoot, Keibler recently wrote on her Facebook page:

“So excited for the release of CULO!”

“[Photographer] Raphael Mazzucco Rocks!”

The book hits stores in late November.

JR Blogs About Attitude Era vs. PG Era, What He’d Change Today

6

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

What He Would Change About The Business: “What’s the one thing that I would do if I could institute any change in the business? It is and always will be adding more developmental areas so more world class/ highly recruited athletes can train and be given the opportunity to make the primary roster and contribute sooner than later. It would also make sense to have a positive working relationship with all the smaller wrestling promotions that are fighting to survive and crave out their niche. Virtually every talent in a smaller promotion wants to advance to WWE where they can maximize their opportunities to earn better money in a career that generally has a short shelf life.”

The Attitude Era: “It’s amazing that some fans think that WWE going back to the attitude era would automatically cure any perceived ailment that WWE may have in some fan’s eyes. That is essentially absurd. Evaluate the attitude era’s talent roster and compare it to today’s. If you do so objectively then you can easily answer the question.”

The PG Era: “Smart PG works just fine and developing new stars is much more imperative than the TV rating. Some fans need to understand that stars like HBK, Austin, Rock, etc don’t come along in every generation. Plus, age and injuries adversely affect talents just like they do any athlete. Too many young wrestlers have found their comfort zone performing in the mid card and thus avoiding the immense responsibility that comes with being a main event star. The money is good for the mid card role and some talents are simply content to not make waves and to take their ‘good money’ and move on. Squeaky albeit talented wheels need to create more awareness for their desires to be headliners. It’s not as simple as raising one’s hand.”

Ross also wrote about a number of topics, including the differences between this generation’s commentary vs. previous generations, Chyna, Stan Hansen’s new book and more.

Who Will Do Commentary At HIAC, Dolph Ziggler Jabs TNA

6

– Jim Ross was asked on twitter whether he and Jerry “The King” Lawler will be calling the action this Sunday at WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Regarding Jerry Lawler’s status, Ross wrote:

“I think so.”

When asked whether he’ll be doing commentary, he responded:

“Not at this time but things can change.”

In his latest blog at JRsBarBQ.com, Ross wrote the following about the same subject:

“So many have asked about Jerry Lawler’s physical condition. King will likely return to the announce table on Sunday at Hell in a Cell. I plan on seeing him on Monday in Lafayette for Raw if things go as they are currently planned. Or I might just show up in New Orleans.”

– WWE United States champion Dolph Ziggler took a jab at TNA on Thursday afternoon in a Twitter post he made plugging his upcoming appearance at Florida Championship Wrestling on Friday night. He tweeted @Heelziggler:

“Off to tampa to make an IMPACT and SPIKE the ratings Friday night in Orlando for FCW!!! See the #HEEL LIVE”

WWE Release, Cena Talks MLB Wildcard Race, Miz’s Release

9

– WWE has released referee James Maritato (aka Little Guido/Nunzio). He is taking independent bookings (as a wrestler) through Bill Behrens, who can be reached at [email protected].

– WWE champion John Cena weighed in on the very eventful night of baseball Wednesday night to conclude the MLB regular season and determine which teams are headed to the playoffs. After Cena’s hometown Boston Red Socks and the Atlanta Braves both lost their games in dramatic fashion to end their seasons, Cena tweeted:

“Smoking gun! What a night for baseball! Congrats to cards and rays. Atl and boston radio gonna be interesting tomorrow.”

Cena grew up near Boston and is a big Red Socks fan – and currently lives near Tampa and also supports the local Tampa Bay Rays.

– “Former” WWE star The Miz explained on his 1st and Awesome Sirius satellite radio show this week exactly why he was fired by Triple H:
