Zack Ryder May End YouTube Show, WWE Highlights Undertaker

12

— Zack Ryder states during an interview published in the November 2011 issue of WWE Magazine that he would prefer to end his YouTube show, Z! True Long Island Story, once he secures a comfortable position on WWE programming.

When asked if he’s concerned with viewers getting tired of the show, Ryder replied, “Well, I’m tired of it already, so it wouldn’t surprise me if some viewers get tired of it soon. Honestly, I can only do this show for so long before the charm kinda wears off. Once I get to where I want to be on TV, then there will be no need for the show, and that’s a good thing.” Also in the WWE Magazine interview, Ryder said he decided to start the show to get himself noticed, which he knew would “either work or get me fired.”

Melina Denies Report That She Tried To Invade Last Week’s Raw

17

Former WWE Diva Melina has denied an online report claiming that she was planning to involve herself in last week’s Divas Tag Team Match on Raw.

She responded on Twitter, “Ha ha! If I was going to fly ANYWHERE I’d fly to Hawaii and have fun or Vegas. Monday I was tweeting you guys and watching the Sheen Roast.

“It’s funny that rumors are still active even when out of the WWE. It’s outrageous and can be hurtful but I’m still on people’s minds.”

The report alleged that Natalya received a text message from Melina—who had a ticket to the Cleveland show—asking, “If I jump KK (Kelly Kelly), you will play ball right?”

The report adds: “Natalya presumed this was a joke, but showed it to the Divas’ liaison who after alerting WWE security then asked her to ring Melina to find out exactly what she had planned. The conversation, which Natalya put on loud-speaker with several members of the lockeroom present included a rambling and possibly under the influence Melina suggesting that attacking Kelly live on Raw would get her a job back as a Diva as “Vince loves reality angles.”

The report then claims that Melina was spotted in line for the show with a ticket, but was turned away at the door.

Ken Anderson Talks WWE Departure, His A-Hole Character & More

9

TNA star Ken Anderson was recently interviewed by Al Castle, senior writer at The Wrestler/Inside Wrestling magazine. Topics discussed include Anderson’s days as a WWE jobber, having to deal with his father’s death during his first WWE push, the importance of blood in wrestling, the heat he got for portraying an anti-U.S. military character, how he deals with criticism, and more.

The magazine, which features Ken Anderson on one cover and Sheamus on the other, is on newsstands now and is also available at pwi-online.com

Here are some highlights of what Ken Anderson said about:

His WWE Departure:

“The thing is that the chairman of that company likes guys who stand up for themselves. He likes guys who aren’t just pushovers, who aren’t just ‘glad-handing, nonsensical yes-men,’ to quote another wrestler (CM Punk). And yet, it depends on what day it is and what side of the bed he woke up on. So it’s really a gamble. If you’re a pushover and you’re a wimp and you say, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes,’ you’re going to be trampled over, regardless. You’re going to get steamrolled regardless of how talented you are. But if you don’t, if you play it the other way, you have a chance of being successful. Like you said, I made some mistakes. I stuck my foot in mouth when I shouldn’t have. I spoke up when I shouldn’t have. None of it was with bad intentions. What’s more, this is the wrestling business and some guys get injured. The interesting thing for me is that you look at that roster and there are guys that get injured time and time again. The Undertaker is good for an injury every year or so. Steve Austin’s been injured. Rey Mysterio gets injured. But when you haven’t made the right political decisions, and you’ve been injured a time or two, that could be possible ammo for some of those people who aren’t your allies to say, ‘Boy, he’s injured all the time. Is he not reliable?’ And when you’re not around to defend yourself, that could be your downfall.”

His “Asshole” Character In TNA

“It wasn’t so much a change as it was this was stuff that I had pitched years ago to Vince McMahon and he said absolutely not. The very first meeting I had with him, I pitched the ‘asshole’ idea. I would bring up how Steve Austin was always telling people, ‘There are about 10,000 people here calling you an asshole,’ and that was a bad thing. But what if we turned it around? What if we played into the notion that nice guys finish last, and so I’m an asshole. I think it was Colin Powell who said, ‘It’s sometimes better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.’ It was one of those things that I knew in my head at the time would work. But now that I asked Vince and he told me no, I can’t say it for sure. Even if I did say and it worked, I’d still get into trouble. Whereas if I just went out there and said it and it worked, I could have apologized later and said I just felt it at the moment.”

Whether Wrestling should be PG:

“I don’t know how it’s possible to have a show about guys that want to fight each other, with half-naked women running around and all of the other stuff that we have, and have it be PG. I just don’t understand how that works. It doesn’t make sense to me. Me favorite years in the wrestling business were the Attitude Era. Maybe it’s as simple as they’ve decided, ‘We need it to get away from this for a while, as far away as possible, so that when we bring it back it will be a what’s-old-is-new kind of thing.’… Our target audience is 18-34. And you’re giving them PG content … If you’re 18 years old, you don’t want to see PG stuff. You don’t want to see somebody called a ‘darn butthole.’ It insults their intelligence.”

Frequent Face & Hell Turns In TNA:

“Here’s where sometimes people don’t understand the full story. There are reasons why somebody will suddenly change from heel to babyface, from a logistics concern. Maybe somebody is hurt and maybe somebody needs to fill a spot that was originally intended for somebody else. And we can’t think of somebody else to fill that role, so we need you to fill that role. Part of me thinks that wrestling needs to evolve again. There’s this thought that, in wrestling, it needs to be black or white. You’re either a good guy or a bad guy. I don’t know anybody in my life that is wholly evil or wholly good. With Breaking Bad, or Sons Of Anarchy, or Weeds—you look at these shows and there’s a guy who is a chemistry teacher who sells meth. Is this a good guy? By society’s standards, no. But we look at the TV show and we can sympathize with him. So I don’t know what the answer is. But I do believe that sometimes in the wrestling business, it’s almost forced. And it can be insulting to the wrestling audience, whereas on a TV show like Sons Of Anarchy, you decide. But in wrestling, it’s ‘Hey, I’m the bad guy. Boo me,’ or ‘I’m the good guy. Cheer for me.’”

Video: The Miz & R-Truth Crash WWE House Show

“Former WWE star” The Miz has uploaded the following video of himself and R-Truth crashing Saturday’s WWE Raw house show in El Paso, Texas:

Tara Says She Wants To Wrestle Chyna, Comments On Brooke

0

In Your Head Radio with Tara
Hosts: Jack and Oneinchbiceps
Recap by Taso the Greek
Show available at IYHWrestling.com

Tara (a/k/a Victoria) joins the IYH hosts for the second part of the show. Tara calls out Jack and Inchman about being their favorite Knockout, and talks about her trainer Rob Conway and his metro sexual ways.

Tara talks about her match with Sojo Bolt, her first friend in TNA, and their match to benefit animal rescue upcoming for Remix Wrestling in Ohio. Tara said that Sojo was a great friend in TNA but she was gone way too soon, but now her new friend in TNA is Miss Tessmacher, Brooke Adams. Tara talked about how she gets along great with Tessmacher, and brings up her skill and the fact that she was trained as a wrestler in WWE. Tara said that Tessmacher has the best ass in the business. She went on to say Tessmacher works out four hours a day in order to look that good, though.

Jack asked about the importance of looking good as opposed to being a good wrestler. Tara explained that you need to have both to succeed. She said that the best wrestlers do not get TV time and she experienced this in WWE. She went on to talk about the differences between WWE and Impact Wrestling when she first got to TNA. It was different and refreshing to her to see that wrestling was more important than good looks. The women get as much air time in the ring as they want as well, another difference from WWE. “Walking on egg shells” was another way she put it, her time spent in WWE compared to being in TNA.

Tara and the hosts talked about the main event between Gail Kim and Awesome Kong, and also her main event cage match against Mickie James. She talked about first meeting Awesome Kong. She mentioned that she has not been used a lot recently on TV with Tessmacher as Women’s Tag Champs, but she had no problem going to her bosses and explaining to them that she wants to be a fighting champion. Another difference between TNA and WWE is that you can go to your bosses and tell them how you feel.

Tara talked about the PWI 50 and how it is important to her to be number one on that list. If you are in the wrestling business, you should be trying to be #1 on that list until the day you can no longer wrestle. She hopes to wrestle for a long time.

Her dream match was to wrestle Chyna. She credits Chyna for helping her into WWE. She hoped to get a match with Chyna in TNA but it did not happen.

She would also like to wrestle Eve Torres. She practices BJJ , as does Eve, and this moves the conversation over to UFC. Tara felt that when she first talked about working in MMA she was younger and if she had jumped right in she might have been able to give it a try. But now she feels that women aren’t appreciated in the MMA world. She brings up an injury she suffered on her elbow in her cage match with Mickie James, and that was the end of any serious thought about MMA.

Tara talked about gimmick matches like ladders matches or cage matches. She felt that it was an honor to do a match like that because it meant people had faith in her to do a match like this. They are dangerous and one wrong move could end your career, so they are very scary to do.

Tara talks quickly about radio shows and radio interviews and how most interviewers don’t even know what most women wrestlers do, which she finds insulting.

More on Remix Pro wrestling: Her match against Sojo Bolt is for the #1 contendership to the title, which would mean a match against Sara Del Ray. Tara explained how huge of a match that would be for her as she felt that she would mesh very well with Sara. Also, Tommy Dreamer will be at the show and Tara talked about Tommy Dreamer’s Top 5 Crazy People in the Business list and where she is situated on that esteemed honor roll. Tara talked about Tommy and Chavo Guerrero and how you develop relationships in the business.

A caller asks what is the craziest thing Tara and Brooke Adams do? Tara mentions a Youtube video that everyone can check out of her and Brooke dancing around in a hotel room. Tara and Brooke will break out in song and dance almost anywhere, which sometimes freaks people out. She mentions that she is a huge Vampire Diaries and Twilight fan. She also said she is a huge Twitter fan as well. She talked about how she rescues dogs as well, and mentioned how crazy wrestlers are in general.

Hell In A Cell Match Takes Place After RAW (Pictures)

10

Monday’s RAW SuperShow from Kansas City, Missouri featured a Hell in a Cell steel cage hanging above the ring – and fans in attendance got to see “Satan’s Structure” in action after the RAW broadcast went off the air.

The advertised dark match main event was supposed to see WWE Champion John Cena defend against former champions Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk in a triple threat match.

When RAW ended, Teddy Long came out and ordered two more competitors be added to the match – Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger – and for the Hell in a Cell cage to be lowered.

According to live correspondents who were at the show, the match started off with the heels dominating the action. However, it did not take long before Cena and CM Punk fought back, with John Cena hitting Jack Swagger with an Attitude Adjustment for the win.

He wrote, “Might need surgery #2 on my knee this week, need to go back in & reinforce the pcl ( Posterior ligament) Shouldn’t b bad,hopefully!1 luv 619”

Mysterio blew out his knee while attempting a baseball slide during a match against Alberto Del Rio on the August 15 episode of Raw. He underwent surgery on August 26 to repair knee ligaments and have bone spurs removed. There is talk that he may not be able to return to action until WrestleMania XXVIII.

— Former WWE Diva Cherry stated the following on Twitter regarding the injured Skip Sheffield: “It was so nice running into my good friend Skip Sheffield! He looks fantastic and is recovering very well!!!”

The former Nexus member has remained sidelined since breaking his leg and ankle on August 18, 2010 at a Raw live event in Honolulu, Hawaii. He underwent a third surgical procedure in June and vowed on Twitter that it would be his last.

Steve Austin Talks About Wrestling Punk, Rock-Cena Hogan-Sting

13

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was interviewed by the UK Sun newspaper to promote his latest DVD action movie, Born to Fight.

Here are some highlights of what Stone Cold said about:

Wrestling One More Match Against CM Punk:

“I think Punk is a great guy. I’d say he looks up to me for what I did in the ring back in the day — and I look up to him for what he is doing now. I’d say it’s a case of mutual respect.

“I hear the stories and if the stars aligned and all things worked out to benefit us all — the WWE, myself and Punk — I’d say that he is the guy I’d pick to face.

“I’m sure I could get another match out of this carcass of mine.”

Tough Enough Returning:

“I loved Tough Enough and hear there may be a second series.”

“If a few other things get ironed out in the company first, I’d say it’s a good 95 per cent guaranteed. My Involvement was a lot more hands on than I expected and I enjoyed that.

“Wrestling is part of my system. I don’t miss the bumps, the travel grind or the pain, but I do enjoy it when I get back and feel the rush of being in front of a crowd.”

John Cena vs. The Rock Next Year at WrestleMania:

“A year-long build is something no one has ever done so Cena v Rock will be very interesting. Rock is doing his thing in Hollywood so can’t make every taping, plus you can’t overdo these things.

“WWE are doing their part and keeping it moving along, but there is still a long time until the pay-off.

Hulk Hogan vs. Sting at Bound For Glory Next Month:

“I’ll be honest, I hadn’t heard about Hogan v Sting. That will be interesting too, I mean Hogan had back surgery didn’t he?

“They are both great guys. I’m a fan of Sting’s and he can still go with the best of them. I know Hogan well and he still has it when he needs it.

“It will be a very interesting night at the office that one and I will most certainly be watching Bound For Glory to see how it works out.”

There’s much more to the interview, including what Steve Austin thinks about his acting career, legends like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan refusing to retire for good, whether John Cena has reached “mega star” status and more. Head over to TheSun.co.uk for the full interview..

Shawn Michaels Tells Triple H He May Be Seeing Him Soon

33

WWE issued a video to mailing list subscribers of Shawn Michaels interrupting Triple H’s promotion of the Inside Out DVD. After teasing the movie’s plot of Triple’s character killing his best friend, Michaels questions the Chief Operating Officer’s decision making in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

He tells Triple H, “I just want you to know there’s no hard feelings ’cause of what you did to my friend, Kevin Nash. You fired him like a no-good S.O.B. and I’m sure you had a perfectly good reason even though it looks like you’ve changed an awful lot and you’re not the same guy you used to be.

“I’m not going to hold that against you. What anyone says that you’re a turncoat, backstabber—I don’t believe them.”

Michaels then tells Hunter that he may be seeing him soon, and leaves the room.

The video can be accessed here.

Cena Teases Cage Match For Raw, Miz & R-Truth Invade Events

15

— John Cena appeared in studio on The Johnny Dare Morning Show today to promote tonight’s Raw SuperShow at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cena teased during the interview that a cage would hang above the ring at the venue. He also discussed films, cars and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Cena stated that he does not want to turn bad because seeing the Make-A-Wish kids with his merchandise makes his day.

Meanwhile, the female sidekick auditioning for the morning show said she was former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman’s roommate in college. She also claimed to have one night stands with former WWE talent John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Al Snow.

— The Miz and R-Truth “invaded” this past weekend’s Raw live events. The same scenario took place at all three shows; the heel duo would jump WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne immediately following their victory over David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty. Company personnel would then escort the “fired” wrestlers away.

Ring announcer Justin Roberts announced at the start of all three shows that The Miz and R-Truth wouldn’t be on hand due to Triple H’s ruling last Monday on Raw.

Chris Jericho Accuses WWE Stars Of Stealing His Ideas

77

Former WWE star Chris Jericho was recently interviewed by Duane Doogan of the Wrestling Voice radio show. Jericho had some controversial comments regarding WWE talent stealing his moves & ideas and also responds to Vampiro recently calling him a liar. Here are some highlights of what Chris Jericho said about:

Wrestlers stealing his moves and gimmicks in WWE today and lashing out at CM Punk for doing so: “There seems to be a lack of respect for the forefathers who came in and did it first and it’s not just [CM] Punk, it’s a whole litany of guys from Miz to Cody Rhodes to Mason Ryan to Sin Cara to Kelly Kelly, everybody is stealing moves, looks, ideas. Brian Pillman once told me if you want to make it in wrestling you have to do something that nobody has done before and nobody is doing that and they are coming off as second rate copies of Chris Jericho, and that’s maybe why these guys aren’t striking and I watch it and think, ‘Seriously, again?’

“A couple of years ago you had ‘Miz 4, John Cena 0’, where did that come from? Conspiracy Theory, where did that come from? Best in the World, where did that come from? Wearing suits, talking slow, using big words, using certain moves, you know Miz used the word “troglodyte” a few weeks ago and I’m like seriously? If there ever was a word associated with Chris Jericho that would be it. These guys have to start thinking of their own stuff and some times I see some of them and I’m like oh come on. It’s not like it’s influenced. At least give credit where credit is due.”

Vampiro calling him out and labeling him a liar in a recent video: “It’s funny because I just recently complimented him on the documentary they put out about him, but Vampiro joins the long list of guys like Superstar Billy Graham, Larry Zbyszko, and Scott Hall who don’t like it when they are called out for being dicks at certain point in time, and everything I’ve written in each one of my books is true.”

There’s much more to the interview, which can be heard in its entirety below:

– Former WCW star and WWE developmental trainer Billy Kidman recently announced on the WWE website that he’s now working as a WWE TV producer.  Kidman took over the duties held by Hall of Famer Jerry Brisco, working with the director and producers of RAW and SmackDown to make sure that matches and segments fit into their allotted time slots.

SummerSlam Buyrate Way Down From Last Year

14

WWE’s corporate website has updated the company’s Key Performance Indicators with the preliminary buyrate for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view – and it’s not good news.

SummerSlam, which featured John Cena vs. CM Punk in the main event (and Alberto Del Rio leaving as WWE Champion after cashing in his Money in the Bank Briefcase) drew approximately 301,000 buys – way down from last year’s 350,000.

To give a little more context as to how badly WWE’s pay-per-view audience is shrinking, SummerSlam did 369,000 buys back in 2009.

As for the domestic vs. international breakdown, it appears around 174,000 buys came from in North America, with 127.000 being purchased internationally.

JR Blog: Undertaker’s Future, Booker T, Announcers

7

Here are some highlights from WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross’ latest blog, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com:

The Undertaker: Undertaker questions…we seem to get more and more of them…mostly the same questions daily. Final, final for now…I don’t know when the Undertaker will return but I expect it to be by WM28. I don’t know who Taker will face at WM28 but it will be someone of quality and the match will rival Rock-Cena for equal billing because the ‘Streak’ is that big in the eyes of many fans. I also don’t keep up with the Undertaker’s current choice of haircuts and when we do communicate it’s about college football and not haircuts.

Booker T: What are my thoughts on Booker T? Another question that we get a great deal. I always loved Booker’s work in the ring and when he was ‘on’ he was as good as any one especially when Booker was allowed to roll on the mic. As far as his announcing goes, I think Booker improves every week and that he’s attempting to master a new aspect of the business which some fans feel is easy to accomplish. It’s not. Booker is witty, has a distinctive delivery, and understands the business and if he continues to improve he will earn the same accolades as a broadcaster as he did as a wrestler in WCW and WWE.

Today’s Announcers vs. Previous Generations: “It isn’t exactly fair to compare any broadcasters of today with those of other generations because today’s commentators are asked to perform a different style than did their predecessors. Play by play, for example, has fallen by the wayside, by and large, and being a narrator/story teller has taken its place. Same essentially goes for the analyst role. Analysts don’t speak much on the affects of wrestling holds to any degree any longer and some even avoid talking in ring strategy.”
