Shane Helms Talks Motorcycle Accident & DUI, Matt Hardy

Between The Ropes interview with Shane Helms
Host: Brian Fritz

Shane Helms has been through a lot over the past year and a half. He spoke with Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com about his recovery from his motorcycle accident and the legal issues he must now deal with, the pros and cons of social media, the Shane Helms app, what is going on with both Matt and Jeff Hardy, leaving the WWE, if and when he may return to the ring and more.

What he has been doing lately as he recovers from his motorcycle accident:

“I got the go ahead from the doctor to go ahead and start putting weight on my foot. The bad news with that is I have to start getting into the legal ramifications of the accident. I got charged when I got in the accident but because I was under doctor’s orders, I had to be at home. I haven’t left the house unless to go to a doctor or something like that and then I had to be assisted.

“But I told the authorities that – and they’re very cool with me, they know I’m not a flights risk – I told them whenever I go the OK to move, I’ll come over there and we’ll take care of this. I just got off the phone with my lawyer and we’re going over there tomorrow to go over there and get that out of the way. So there’s your exclusive before it hits the air.”

On the legal charges he faces which includes DUI:

“It’s not something I want, I don’t want to drag it out. I kind of just want to go and have it done. That’s why I said as soon as I got the clearance from the doctor I called (my lawyer). It’s something that’s kind of been on my mind and I want to get out of the way. I’ve never been above facing up for any mistake I’ve made. I just want to go ahead and knock it out and move ahead, move forward with it. I learned a huge lesson from this.”

If he has spoken with Matt since his recent arrest and how he is doing:

“Matt is going through a time right now. I can’t get down there and I can’t move as much. I wish I was there to talk to him in person so I could get a better gauge of what’s going on. I worry about Matt … a lot. It’s kind of flipped because Jeff is now … Jeff has everything together now. He’s really a good father, a really great person.

“And now it just seems like the shoe is on the other foot and Matt is having his difficulties. I’m not even sure what they are. I have an idea but that’s not for me to say. He’s my friend so it’s probably something that, honestly, I wouldn’t say anything. But I do worry about him as I would worry about any friend or loved one.”

Joey Styles Vents On Twitter About The Never Ending NXT Season

18

Joey Styles wrote the following on Twitter on Tuesday night regarding this season of NXT:

“Tyson Kidd lost to Trent Barreta tonight on NXT when he was distracted by a Japanese symbol on the Tron. Being that this is week 25 of would should have been a 13 week season, the Japanese symbol probably meant “apathy”. #howmuchmoreheatcaniget

Next week, Season 5 of NXT reaches week 26,twice as long as every other season. Can we just give Titus and Darren WWE contracts and move on?

While we’re at it, let’s find Percy Watson who should have been on this season instead of Darren Young and sign him and Derrick Bateman too! As a bonus, we have Maxine who would look phenomenal on any WWE or any TV show and Naomi who looks great inside and outside the ring.

Derrick Bateman’s distraction allowed Maxine to defeat A.J. Afterward, Titus O’Neil tried to restore order, threatening Bateman. No, really. That was the main event. Next week is week #26 of NXT Season 5. Is it bad manners to request a wine list a week in advance?”

Young Bucks Trash TNA, Talk About Their Backstage Heat

10

The Young Bucks tag team (formerly Generation Me) recently spoke to Canada’s Slam Wrestling about their decision to quit TNA Wrestling several months ago. Matt Jackson expressed a great deal of frustration with the way TNA is run – largely due to the fact that TNA creative did not have a clear vision for them:

“I don’t think everyone’s on the same page. I know that a lot of guys don’t know where to go when they have a question about something, because nobody knows who’s exactly in charge of what.”

“One week we were running with Tara and the next we’re not. One week Nick and I have heat with each other, and the next we’re in a stable together. Towards the end, people in the office didn’t know if we were heels or faces, so we flip-flopped. We knew then, we had to get out.”

“One thing, though, from my time with them that I would have never guessed was, how unorganized the ‘big leagues’ were.”

Nick explains that despite all the turmoil behind the scenes in TNA, their departure from the company came down to money – or lack thereof.

“We asked for our release because we were not being used enough to budget money for our families. We simply weren’t making enough money. We asked for help and they didn’t really want to do anything for us. So, it obviously wasn’t going to work out.”

Matt added:

“We knew we were going to quit for a while. The writing was on the wall. Overcrowded locker rooms, we hadn’t been seen on TV regularly in months, and no continuity with our characters led us to wanting out.

The Young Bucks have received several complaints from veteran performers in the both the TNA and WWE locker rooms for the way they’ve handled themselves behind the scenes.

The Bucks have developed a reputation for being aloof and disrespectful to their superiors – and do not put all the blame on TNA for why their run there did not work out:

“I’m sure they could have done more with us, but I’m also not going to stick the blame completely on them. I’m sure there are things that we could have done differently too. All in all, we are proud of our run there and feel like we did have the capability to show what we could do, at least a couple of times.

“We could of ‘played the game’ a bit more. In professional wrestling, you need to do this to survive. We may have been a little too passive and let things happen to our characters that probably shouldn’t have. Maybe we could have been a little more protective? You live and learn.”

Mick Foley Talks WWE Return, Wrestling Undertaker, TNA

11

Wrestling legend Mick Foley, who is rumored to be returning to WWE in the coming months, was asked on Twitter last night if he can see himself having another match against The Undertaker. Foley responded:

“Could I see me and Undertaker having one more match? Not likely, but I’m going to drop 50 lbs just in case I get the call.”

Foley was then asked who on the WWE roster today does he think he can have a good match with:

“Not sure I can have a GREAT match with anyone, anymore. But I think I could have a GOOD last match with several guys in @WWE.”

Foley also responded to a question about which wrestlers in TNA he thinks have “it” – and the potential to be a mainstream star lke The Rock or John Cena. Foley responded with a bleak [yet probably realistic] outlook:

“Not trying to be mean, but I’m not sure Impact will ever be big enough to truly get a new wrestler over to the mainstream.”

Foley is rumored to be returning to WWE in the coming months, with talk of Foley being interested in “one more big match” – possibly at WrestleMania 28. One scenario that’s been discussed is for Mick Foley to get involved in the John Cena vs. The Rock feud – with Foley being in the corner of The Rock and representing Rock on WWE television this fall on weeks where The Rock can’t be at WWE television DISCUSSION: Do you think Mick Foley has one more run in him? Matt Hardy's Mugshot

TNA star Matt Hardy has issued another statement to his fans, following up on Monday’s message where he talked about being “reborn with an absolute pure life force” and feeling the “blood of an angel flowing inside of him” during Saturday’s DWI car crash in North Carolina.

Hardy tweeted on Tuesday morning at @MattHardyBrand:

What Happened After Monday’s RAW Went Off The Air

13

The following is a live report of what happened after Monday’s RAW from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada went off the air:

The advertised dark match main event did not take place.

After RAW went off the air, The Miz and R-Truth jumped John Cena and CM Punk, beating them down for a few minutes. Alberto Del Rio hit the ring and also joined in on the attack, but was quickly tossed out of the ring. John Cena and CM Punk got control and delivered their finishers to Miz and R-Truth.

After the babyfaces cleaned house, Del Rio noticed that CM Punk had his trademark scarf – and sentRicardo Rodriguez into the ring to get it. Rodriguez attempted to grab the scarf from Punk, who played “matador” and kept the scarf to himself. You can probably figure out where this is going. Punk nailed him with the Go 2 Sleep – and Cena followed up with an Attitude Adjustment.

Punk and Cena celebrated in the ring to end the show.
