Update On Chris Jericho’s Return, Upcoming PPV’s On Blu-ray

13

— With the WWE roster growing increasingly thin due to retirements, injuries and people taking time off, you can be sure that WWE is aware of the situation and looking at ways to strengthen the RAW and SmackDown rosters. Aside from elevating younger talent and building new stars (which the company has done a much better job of doing recently) – WWE is also interested in bringing back several superstars who are currently working on other projects outside of wrestling.

We reported earlier this week that WWE’s creative team regularly discusses how to incorporate former superstar Dave Batista into storylines .. Another superstar who is expected back with WWE in the coming months is Chris Jericho. Now that Jericho’s run on Dancing With The Stars has concluded, most within WWE believe his return is imminent. The recent neck surgery of John Morrison is seen as a factor that could result in Jericho returning to WWE television sooner than later.

* Over the Limit, 1 disc – June 21

Ric Flair Wants To Wrestle Sting, Talks Euro Tour Incident

19

TNA star Ric Flair Ric a few radio appearances this week and as usual with the Nature Boy, there are some newsworthy items to report.

During an appearance on Mark Madden’s radio show on Tuesday, Flair said he wants a shot at Sting’s TNA World Heavyweight title some time this summer. This comes just days after reports that Hulk Hogan is training for an in-ring return and wants to challenge Sting at Bound For Glory later this fall.

Flair also appeared on radio station WFNZ’s afternoon show “The Drive” on Tuesday and discussed a number of wrestling-related topics , including his decision to attend Shawn Michaels WWE’s Hall of Fame induction in Atlanta last month. Flair said TNA had “no problem” appearing at WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony and he plans on attending next year’s ceremony in Miami.

Flair also spoke about his highly-publicized meltdown that took place during TNA’s European tour earlier this year. After widespread reports that Flair was left behind by TNA following a dispute over TNA being unwilling to advance Flair money. Here’s what Flair said about the situation:

“When you work for WWE, you are used to funds being available for you, if you think I am going to spend my own money, you are out of your mind. With Vince…like any other company that grows, you have growing pains, financial growing pains.”

“When you agree to go overseas, you assume you are going like any other company and very simply, I wasn’t informed differently. I said, ‘Hey I need some money while I’m here. I’m not blowing up my credit card. Just pay me what you owe me every night’ and they don’t do that. I wasn’t told in a very nice way so I stayed in the hotel for another day. I’m not knocking. I think TNA is great, just they have growing pains.”

*SPOILERS* TNA iMPACT! Tapings Results For Tonight

*SPOILERS* TNA iMPACT! Tapings Results For Tonight

55

Credit to Jacob Jones and PWInsider.com for these spoiler results:

* The Jarretts come out and offer a truce to Kurt Angle as Jeff doesn’t want her to be put in harm’s way at the Sacrifice PPV on Sunday. The crowd is chanting for Angle. Karen says that Kurt’s been hurt too many times and now that’s made him believe that she’s out to get him. She says they have a restraining order out for his own well being and asks Angle to come out. Kurt comes out and says he can’t believe he stayed married to her. Angle announces a mixed tag match between himself & “his business partner” against the Jarretts for the PPV. He says that Jarrett knows who she is and she’s real, damn real.

* Mickie James & Miss Tessmacher defeated Madison Rayne & Tara.

* Beer Money cut a promo and pretty much intimate that they are waiting for Matt Hardy to call Jeff Hardy to face them at Sacrifice without using Jeff’s name. Matt comes out and says they showed guts when they dared call out Hulk Hogan, but they still make him sick and are worthless. Matt says he and Jeff Hardy were raised to be champions and he and his partner are going to take the belts at Sacrifice. But, his partner isn’t Jeff Hardy. Out comes, I swear to God, Chris Harris. It’s Harris and Hardy vs. Beer Money.

* Sangriento pinned Suicide.

* Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair come out immediately after the match. Flair kicks Suicide low. Hogan says that he runs the show and he’s tired of waiting. He wants to know who is running games for the network right now or else. Out comes Mick Foley. Foley said that Hulk may have conned his way into the company and they might think that they were the smartest men in wrestling, but now things are going to start to unravel. He said that on 3/3, Jeff Hardy was the champ but then the Network saw what what happening and brought Sting back to TNA and now he’s the champion. Foley said that Hogan won’t be able to ruin this show and more because this show is called “Impact Wrestling” because it’s supposed to be about wrestling. He announces a Battle Royal to determine the number one contender to the TNA title and then says he’d like to introduce Kurt Angle’s partner at Sacrifice. A video appears, eventually spelling the word CHYNA and she comes out on the stage with Foley. She got, seriously, a MONSTER pop. Everyone chanted her name.

* Crimson defeated Abyss and Samoa Joe. Abyss attacked Crimson and left him laying.

* They re-tape the ENTIRE segment with Mick Foley coming out to confront Immortal. Crowd was dead for this. There were a few small line changes, including Mick saying this show wasn’t “TNA” but “Impact Wrestling” so there’s the marketing stuff you guys wrote about last week or so.

* Mr. Anderson wins the Battle Royal. Chyna ran out and tossed out Jarrett. She went after Karen but Jeff saved her and they ran away. Dreamer got tossed by Bully Ray even though they are now partners. Steiner and Morgan eliminated each other. Hardy and Beer Money eliminated each other. In the end, Anderson tossed Ray out.

Batista-WWE Update, Plans For SummerSlam, NXT Eliminations

23

– As we recently reported, plans for former WWE superstar Dave Batista to make his professional MMA debut for the Strikeforce promotion fell through when the company was purchased by UFC earlier this year. With Batista’s MMA career still not off the ground yet, there has been speculation as to whether a return to WWE would be in the cards for him.

According to a reliable source, WWE’s creative team does still talk about Batista and how he would fit into current and future storylines. No matter what happens with Batista doing mixed martial arts, the general feeling is that he has not wrestled his final match in a WWE ring.

– With SummerSlam just three months away, WWE is working on the top feuds that will make up the card.

The current plan for WWE Champion John Cena is for him to defend against RAW newcomer Alberto Del Rio. Despite coming up short in title matches at the last 2 pay-per-views, Del Rio is still seen as a top talent by management and is almost certainly a future world champion.

Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth was talked about as well, but with John Morrison recently undergoing neck surgery, the Mysterio-Truth match was moved up to Over the Limit. John Morrison and R-Truth could now take place at SummerSlam.

– Next week’s episode of NXT: Redemption will see the first elimination of this season. Voting is underway at WWE.com. Here’s a look at the current standings:

  • Titus O’Neil: 19 points
  • Darren Young: 7 points
  • Jacob Novak: 6 points
  • Byron Saxton: 3 points

Hogan vs. Sting Discussed, Dixie Carter’s Role, Abyss’ Teeth

28

-With Hulk Hogan currently training for a possible return to the ring later this year, word out of the TNA locker room is that Hogan is looking to wrestle Sting in the main event of TNA’s biggest show of the year – Bound For Glory, later this year. Yeah we know, that same match headlined WCW’s biggest show of the year (Starrcade) back in 1997.

While a Hulk Hogan vs. Sting match is still a match some fans would pay to see again – it all depends on whether Hogan is physically able to work a match after undergoing more than a half dozen back surgeries in the past year or so.

– Dixie Carter remains the president of TNA Wrestling, despite online reports the contrary. As many know, TNA is funded primarily by Panda Energy, which is owned by Dixie’s  father, Bob. Dixie’s mother Janice began working behind the scenes in TNA earlier this year overseeing the company’s finances. After the tremendous amount of money TNA has spent in recent years signing household names to big contracts and the failed attempt at going live on Monday nights, major changes to TNA’s operations are expected in the coming months to save.

Steve Austin Comments On Rumors He Will Wrestle Again

17

Several weeks ago, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin made headlines when he said that he is healthy enough that he could wrestle a full-time schedule for 2 more years if he really wanted to.

During a recent interview with the UK Sun, Austin stomped a mudhole in our hopes and dreams – saying he has no intention getting back into the ring as an active competitor:

“I’m happy being gone and out of the business to the degree I am, that’s why the Tough Enough thing was such a great opportunity between my other projects. I can be as hands-on and as close as I want to be. I’m not attempting to come back and I have a load of memories from a business I love.”

“I got up there and took some bumps with one of the contestants and worked around with one of the guys and I had fun getting in the ring and bouncing around again.”

“But it doesn’t mean I want to go and do it again on a night in, night out basis.”

Austin said that he plans to continue focusing on his acting career.

Health Update On Ken Shamrock, X-Pac To Interview Paul Bearer

5

— Former WWE star Ken Shamrock appeared very sickly and haggard at last Saturday’s “Legends of the Ring” convention in Monroe, New Jersey. For the safety of himself and others, the 47-year-old was asked by doctors to withdraw from his scheduled mixed martial arts fight for World Extreme Fighting last month. He was also placed on antibiotics for several weeks.

JR Blog: John Morrison’s Surgery, Christian’s Short Title Reign

9

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

John Morrison’s Neck Surgery: “Good news on John Morrison’s surgery to repair a neck issue. Not major or overly invasive and Morrison should be back in the ring in a month or two or so we assume. John would be best served to return later rather than sooner, make sure that he’s 100%, at a minimum, not to mention it would be cool seeing him on Raw rehabbing himself back into ring shape which builds anticipation for his return. One suggestion to Morrison is to watch various Shawn Michaels bouts from different times of HBK’s career to see how Shawn kept reinventing himself in route to becoming the best in the business.”

UFC Offering Fighters Health Insurance: “A tip of the hat to UFC for their new fighter’s insurance referendum. Many fighters seem to need ample help in managing their lives and this aspect of their life is imperative to address. Very strategic maneuver by UFC notwithstanding it is the right thing to do.”

Monday’s RAW: “Monday Night Raw was an interesting, two hour broadcast. Thought the Lawler stuff was the most compelling content of the night other than Cole invoking the Mother’s Day dialog that I found to be uncomfortable. Having been to the rodeo a time or two, I realize that was obviously Cole’s intention. The Triple Threat Main Event was executed very well. Really good, TV main event.”

Christian’s Short Title Reign: “WWE promoting Smackdown inside Raw was strategic and timely. Nice positioning. It also tells me that Christian losing the World Title wasn’t any where near his ‘professional, death knell’ as some fans declared and that Christian just may be set for a significant period of time of his career especially considering the overall lack of depth within the business, as we speak.”

“I see Christian becoming much more viable than he has been in the past and it seems that him losing the World Title has ignited that theory.”

McMahon Reportedly Furious With TNA Angle (Contains Spoilers)

28

Outspoken celebrity blogger Perez Hilton posted an article on FitPerez.com concerning Chyna’s return to the squared circle.

“The Ninth Wonder of The World” debuted for TNA Wrestling at last Tuesday’s iMPACT! taping in Orlando, Florida. The former WWE Diva was revealed as Kurt Angle’s “mistress” and will be competing in a mixed tag team match with Kurt Angle against Jeff and Karen Jarrett at TNA Sacrifice this Sunday.

According to Hilton, Vince McMahon was considering placing Chyna in the WWE Hall of Fame, but has since dismissed the idea due to her association with the rival promotion. Hilton adds McMahon is furious with her decision to join TNA.

TMZ.com reported last week that Chyna has not signed a contract with TNA Wrestling as she is currently working on a “handshake deal” with a “very, very short leash.”

Chyna is off to a good start so far as sources within TNA Wrestling say she exceeded expectations in regards to how she handled herself backstage at the event.

“Chyna was very well liked,” said one TNA source. Another source added, “She was great.” It was also noted that she has mellowed out.

Chyna made a second wrestling related appearance at last Saturday’s “Legends of the Ring” convention in Monroe, New Jersey. She appeared healthy and in good spirits.

Two TE Contestants Gone, Divas Appearing On Next Week’s Show

6

— Eric and Ivelisse were cut from this week’s episode of Tough Enough. Ivelisse was eliminated due to an injury she had difficulty working through, while Eric was sent home due to substandard performance.

The other contestant in the Bottom Three was A.J., who was nearly cut over Eric.

— Advertised for next week’s episode are the WWE Divas guest-starring and joining the contestants for a “night out on the town.” The preview teased multiple injuries and one trip to the emergency room.

The synopsis for next week’s show is as follows:

The Injuries Pile Up on the Next Tough Enough, Monday at 8/7C!

And then there were six. Stone Cold Steve Austin enlists the help of four sexy WWE Divas and THQ video games to teach the remaining contestants all about creativity. In the ring, a tough training session leads to a serious injury that puts one contestant’s dreams in jeopardy.

Hulk Hogan Says It’s 50/50 That He’ll Wrestle This Year

12

TNA’s Hulk Hogan was one of the featured guests on this week’s live edition of the award-winning Monday Night Mayhem radio show.

“The Immortal” Hulk Hogan Discusses His Return To Canada For This Saturday Night’s CWI’s “Brawl At The Bush II” Event In Brantford, Ontario, Why He Holds A Special Place In His Heart For His Canadian Fans, His Recovery From His Latest Back Surgery & Rehabilitation, The Odds Of Seeing Him Step Back Into The Squared Circle For TNA, The Biggest Thing He Has Learned Thus Far In His Time With TNA, How He Was One Of The Last People In TNA To Find About Jay Lethal’s Release From The Company (And What He Had Planned For Him If Lethal Stayed With The Roster), The Current Condition Of Scott Hall, The WWE’s Attempts At Rebranding Their Company, Plus Much More In His Exclusive Monday Night Mayhem Interview!

You can listen to an MP3 of Hogan’s appearance on The Mayhem by clicking here.

Here are some highlights of what Hulk Hogan said about:

The biggest thing has learned thus far in his time with TNA:

“The first thing I learned was to slow down. I thought right away go to Monday nights, do this, do that, make some changes. Number one, it doesn’t happen that way. Dixie Carter owns the company. Her family put their life & blood into this thing, and I’m the ‘Johnny Come Lately’ who’s trying to help them. They have given me an upper hand creatively to help with the direction. We’re trying to make wrestling not the way it used to be, We’re trying to make wrestling like it should be. We are just going to slow down and make sure we are real consistent.”

Returning to Canada (for the first time in nearly ten years) for CWI’s “Brawl at the Bush II” event & why he holds a special place in his heart for his Canadian fans:

“The last time I was in Brantford I can’t even remember who I wrestled, but I’m sure the fans can tell you. The building is electric. The fans are electric. It’s a dream come true to come back, and I’ve been around the block a couple of times, and you guys know all the craziness, but at the end of the day, when you talk about loyal fans & fans that stick up for you and show a promoter who they love: You can’t make them boo somebody they don’t wanna boo, such as what happened the last time I wrestled in Canada against The Rock. The fans in Canada are so loyal, and nobody tells them what to do, and who to love, and who to hate, and that’s why I’m digging coming back.”

Having gone through his latest back surgery & rehabilitation, what are the odds that we will see him step back inside the squared circle to wrestle with TNA:

“That’s a tough question, but as honest as I could be, because I don’t know the answer yet, from four & a half months from back surgery number eight, I would say it’s a 50-50 chance. If you would have asked me this two months ago, I would have said no way. If I could get six & a half months under my belt, I’d pretty much know the answer to that. If I did land wrong or something, I just don’t know if all this hardware & stuff would hold together.”
