Pope Hints Carlito Signed With TNA, Beautiful People = Ratings

10

— TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter announced this afternoon on Twitter the signing of a performer to a new talent contract. Shortly thereafter, “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero commented the following on the social networking site: “Just heard the news. Now THAT….That’s Cool!”

Many of his followers believed he was alluding to Carlito, as that was the Puerto Rican star’s catchphrase during his time in WWE. D’Angelo noted in a follow-up message that his earlier tweet was purely coincidental and that he has no idea as to who was signed.

“Whoa! Just got the “News” of Pope’s earlier news. That was purely coincidental. For The Record, Pope has NO CLUE as to who was signed,” he added.

— The reunion of “The Beautiful People” on Thursday’s iMPACT! scored the program’s highest rated segment with a 1.15. The next highest quarter-hour was the main event featuring Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson, D’Angelo Dinero and Jeff Hardy against members of Fortune. It drew a 1.11.

Overall, the show earned a 1.07 rating, up from the previous week’s 0.97.

Sadly we’ve got another death from the wrestling world to report.

Independent wrestler J.C. Bailey (real name Joseph Carl Bailey, Jr.) was found dead this morning at the age of 27. The cause of death is currently unknown. Bailey was known for his high-flying, hardcore style and wrestled for various hardcore indy wrestling promotions, most notably the Philadelphia-based Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW).

CZW issued a statement this morning after the news came out on Bailey’s death:

It is with great sadness that CZW management has the unfortunate duty to again report on the news of the passing of another one of its own. Early this morning, CZW officials learned that Joseph Carl “JC” Bailey Jr. passed away in his home at the age of 27. JC was a beloved member of the CZW locker room, and a member of the extended Combat Zone family for nearly a decade. As a performer, JC was fearless. He was renowned and admired by fans and colleagues alike for his toughness, his resilience, and for the undying passion he showed for the sport of Professional Wrestling… the sport he loved. Away from the ring, JC was a true friend to so many people, and today, we all remember him, and mourn his loss. Rest in Peace JC Bailey.

We’d like to express our sincere condolences to the familiy and friends of the late Joseph Carl Bailey, Jr.

Orton Pulled From Match Sunday, Fans Brawl Over Cena T-Shirt

11

— Randy Orton was dealing with a sore neck and shoulder following last night’s Raw live event in Wildwood, New Jersey, where he faced Sheamus in a Lumberjack Match with Nexus. He was therefore placed in a Six-Man Tag Team Match at today’s Raw live event in Newark, New Jersey so he could have a lighter workload.

An angle was conducted at the beginning of the show where Sheamus attacked Cena and Nexus attacked Chris Jericho, leading Orton and Daniel Bryan to perform a run-in.

Orton sparingly wrestled during the match and did not perform the RKO. He did, however, strike Michael Tarver with a punt to the head in the aftermath of the bout.

Orton’s injury is not immediately being considered serious, but he will likely have it checked out tomorrow.

— A brawl broke out amongst fans at today’s Raw live event in Newark, New Jersey over a T-shirt John Cena had thrown to the crowd just before his Steel Cage Match with Sheamus.

According to a fan who witnessed the incident, the melee lasted approximately 15 minutes before Prudential Center staff broken it up. The correspondent also noted that over 10 people were ejected from the arena and some children were hurt during the brawl.

Layla’s Response Following Slam From “The Beautiful People”

20

This week’s episode of TNA Wrestling’s new behind the scenes program ReACTION saw the recently reunited pairing of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky slam those who have attempted to imitate The Beautful People stable over the years.

Love charged during the pseudo-shoot program, “We created a group that has been like no other for women in professional wrestling. People have tried to be like this. People wanted to join us. No can do.”

Sky added, “And for all you wannabe Beautiful People girls out there… you know exactly who I’m talking about, get a life. You will never be us.”

Angelina then cryptically noted, “And you’re not cool by the way. You’re not cool.”

Some have interpreted their message as a thinly veiled potshot towards WWE Diva alliance Lay-Cool — Michelle McCool and Women’s Champion Layla. Both have directed similar remarks towards rival performers in the past, with Love recently stating the following on her Facebook account while watching television: “So this is what I get for quickly flipping thru the channels on a friday night……a blonde & a brunette blatantly ripping something off……..BRUTAL!!!”

Apparently in response to the TNA Knockouts’ most recent remarks, Layla said the following on Twitter yesterday:

“Living the dream & so blessed!!
1 thing I know when u r attacked u have 2 decide if it’s worth the time & effort to retaliate
Not worth the press
Plus don’t deserve the press we get even tho they want it & need it :-)

Real talk”

It was reported this past June in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Lay-Cool act was concocted due to WWE’s creative department being embarrassed by The Beautiful People making their female performers look second-rate by comparison.

Scott Hall’s Publicist Debunks Rumors That He Is Seriously Ill

10

Scott Hall’s publicist issued a cryptic statement on MySpace.com this afternoon asking that fans keep “The Bad Guy” in their thoughts and prayers. She added, “Will update as soon as I know.”

She then clarified her remarks with the following statement:

Well once again I come to put an end to the BS and Assumptions of others..

Why in heavens name, would anyone think Scott is seriously ill.. just because.. I said keep him in your thoughts and prayers…

He is in a place he is getting help.. doesn’t mean the road will be easy.. he is dealing with much.. He is making life changeing changes.. old habits are hard to break..

I said.. when I know ,you will.. but until then I wish people wouldn not take things out of context and assume the worse..

I still ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers.. that he will come out of this healthy and happy.. After all.. we just want The Bad Guy to be ok…

Maggie

It was noted earlier this week by longtime friend Kevin Nash that Hall had checked into a rehabilitation center on behalf of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program. He was scratched from an independent wrestling show tour of the East Coast, including a heavily promoted event in New York City.

Hall’s publicist said last week: “Recovery for Scott has been very slow process; he was trying to get better and was looking forward to his appearances on the East Coast.”

Hall had been in the hospital recently as he came down with double pneumonia, affecting both of his lungs.
