Additional Details On Samoa Joe’s Recent Backstage Blow-up

As reported earlier, Samoa Joe was said to be very upset following his recent match with Jeff Hardy on iMPACT!, which ended in a time limit draw. Joe was furious following the bout because he felt the finish was given away by TNA having ring announcer Jeremy Borash say there were 30 seconds remaining when he specifically asked them not to.

Joe hasn’t worked for the company since the outburst. He wasn’t on hand for last week’s iMPACT! television tapings in Orlando. One source claims Joe yelled at production team members David Sahadi and Keith Mitchell, while others say it was Vince Russo — who reportedly instructed Borash.

Meanwhile, another source felt that Joe was right about the finish being given away, but added that he handled the situation poorly.

Details On TNA Wrestling’s New Television Program ‘ReACTION’

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION (TNA) WRESTLING’S ‘TNA ReACTION’ TO PREMIERE ON SPIKE

New York (August 3, 2010) – Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling President Dixie Carter and TNA Managing Partner Hulk Hogan today announced the series premiere of “TNA ReACTION,” that will air on Thursday nights beginning August 12 at 11:00 pm (ET/PT) on Spike TV.

“TNA ReACTION” will immediately follow TNA’s flagship program “TNA iMPACT!,” which airs from 9-11PM (ET/PT) every Thursday to create a three-hour bloc, “TNA Thursdays,” on Spike TV.

“TNA ReACTION” is a one hour docu-style series that will bring the characters, story, and drama of TNA Wrestling’s long running action format “iMPACT!” to life in an entirely new and unique way.

Created and executive produced by Bischoff Hervey Entertainment Television (BHE TV) as part of their partnership with TNA Entertainment announced last fall, TNA ReACTION combines production values and format elements that are truly groundbreaking to the professional wrestling/sports entertainment genre, which has been a leader in cable television for decades.

“My partner Jason Hervey and I have been working with some cutting-edge cameras including the new Canon 7D D-SLR that shoots amazing video in a couple of our reality projects”, said Eric Bischoff of BHE TV”.

“We experimented with integrating some of these elements into both ‘iMPACT’ and ‘ReACTION.’ TNA’s director of video production Kevin Sullivan worked closely with us to make this work, and the results are very cool,” said Bischoff.

“We are extremely excited that Eric and Jason have been able to bring their experience in reality and docu-drama formats to TNA in a way that would give our shows a different feel. We are very happy with the results”, TNA President, Dixie Carter.

TNA’s in-house production team partnered with BHE TV to integrate the new production technique into “iMPACT!” and “ReACTION.”

“We have definitely hit the refresh button with some of these changes and I think fans will appreciate the pacing, look, and depth they are going to see on ‘iMPACT!’ and on ‘ReACTION,’” said TNA director of video production Kevin Sullivan.

Tommy Dreamer Hypes Hardcore Justice, Paul Heyman Is Invited

5

Former two-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Tommy Dreamer, was one of the special guests on this week’s edition (08/02/10) of the award-winning Monday Night Mayhem radio show. Dreamer Says “There Is An Invitation Out There” To Paul Heyman For This Sunday Night’s HardCORE Justice PPV, Discusses The Reaction From Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff At The Revival Of ECW (And Getting “The Rub From “The Hulkster” On Last Thursday’s IMPACT), The Reaction By Critics (Who Feel That ECW Is Once Again Being Prostituted & Bastardized), Those In The WWE, & Several Former ECW Stars (Who Chose Not To Participate), How Long He Has Been Planning This Pay-Per-View Concept, The Importance Of Authenticity For This Show, Just How Close We Were To Seeing the PPV At The Former ECW Arena Or The Hammerstein Ballroom, What The Fans Can Expect From Him In TNA After His “Final Showdown” With Raven, & The Legacy Of ECW.

Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:

How supportive has Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff been about the ECW revival in TNA/the concept of the Hardcore Justice Pay-Per-View & the Hardcore Originals getting “the rub” from “The Hulkster” in the ring on last Thursday night’s iMPACT: “I was at WrestleMania with my dad. I was at WrestleMania II. For anyone to say anything about Hulk Hogan, he walks slowly and has a bit of a limp from all the surgeries. He has given so much to this business. To be in the ring with him, and the fan in me & the kid in me, they kept showing me & D-Von, and we were flexing, almost doing the Hulk Hogan pose as Hulk was coming to the ring. In regards to Dixie Carter giving us her 100% blessing, I don’t really know the guys’ personal feelings towards it, but I don’t think if Hulk Hogan didn’t like what he saw, I don’t think he would be out there. He has that stroke to say ‘No, I don’t wanna do something.’ I don’t know Eric Bischoff’s personal feelings towards it. Obviously, they are going forward and giving whatever Pay-Per-View matches they were gonna do for Hard Justice; they are gonna do the following Thursday, which is great.”

The Paul Heyman/TNA rumors & the “invitation” being extended to Paul for this Sunday night’s Pay-Per-View: “I have spoken to Paul, and there is an invitation out there. I would love for him to be there, but I understand if he’s not. He’s also doing stuff for Brock Lesnar. Paul is Paul, and if he does come in, I think he could definitely help. If he doesn’t, the business moves on without him. He’s very, very talented, and I think it would be cool to get people to drink his Kool-Aid again. If he does come to terms, I think it would be a good deal for Paul, and hopefully it would be a good deal for TNA as well.”

His thoughts on the refusal of several former ECW stars (such as “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Mikey Whipwreck, & Lance Storm) choosing not to appear at HardCORE Justice: “Number one, there are only so many matches that you can truly have. I also don’t wanna throw a bunch of people into Battle Royals just for the sake of throwing people into the show. Yes, I did reach out to Lance Storm, and he said ‘Thanks for thinking of me, but I had my closure in 2005, and it was the perfect scenario for me.’ He had some personal issues with TNA, but that didn’t affect our friendship. Mikey Whipwreck has some serious health issues, and talking to Mikey he said ‘Hey, when I sneeze, my fingers go numb, and I gotta get my neck worked on.’ He also did not want to go out there and embarrass himself, and to me, if you can’t go out to that ring, you shouldn’t go out there anymore. If you’re there, you’re there. If you’re not there, I respect that.”

His reaction to the critics who think this PPV is being done to only make money for TNA & those that feel that the ECW legacy is being bastardized/prostituted yet again and the response he has received from World Wrestling Entertainment (including his long-time friends & colleagues who still work there): “I’ve gotten so many texts & phone calls from people who do work in the WWE congratulating me and wishing me tons of success. This was never about bashing the WWE, or we’re better…that’s not the case. My plan was to create a buzz for TNA. I’ve done that, and created some ratings for TNA, and we’ve done that too. After this, my goal is to help all that in TNA. I do have a different perspective, not saying that it’s 100% right, but these are ways I could prove to other people that if this is a success, that we are on the right track here. Bastardizing it and all that stuff, no. Bottom line, this is a television show. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to watch it. Everything I have tried to do in my short time I’ve been in TNA, and trust me when I tell you: this is for TNA & for the future of this business. I wish I could have Joey Styles call the Pay-Per-View, but I can’t, because he’s under contract. If Chris Jericho was available, I would have Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio, but I can’t. The surprises I have in store I hope are good surprises for people, and I look at this as a celebration of guys who are getting another shot, and you’ll never see us together again.”

What can the fans can expect from him in TNA (both inside the squared circle and/or behind the scenes) after his “Final Showdown” with Raven at HardCORE Justice: “My goal is to contribute to TNA in any role given to me and to continue to contribute in the wrestling business that I love so much. I have a list of men & women that I have seen on the indies that are television ready, and I have a list of people that should go to a developmental system that I’ve seen them work live, and if I have the opportunity to introduce these new people to the world, I would love to do that. It’s going out there and having to wrestle AJ Styles, finding a partner and wrestling Beer Money, wrestling Samoa Joe, or helping with a promo in the background behind the scenes, or helping on creative. Giving my experiences that I learned to show what I feel to help you take it to the next level. Just continue to contribute to the TNA product, as well as contribute to the business that I love.”

More is contained in Tommy Dreamer’s highly anticipated/first-ever appearance on the award-winning Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including the actual origins of the HardCORE Justice Pay-Per-View concept, the importance of authenticity for this show, just how close we could have been to seeing the PPV at the former ECW Arena or The Hammerstein Ballroom, & so much more! Call your local cable or satellite provider and demand HardCORE Justice: The Final Stand! While counting down the days until Sunday night’s PPV, we strongly encourage you to check out Tommy’s official website (located at www.TheTommyDreamer.com), and follow “The Innovator of Violence” right now on his Twitter page (located at www.Twitter.com/TheTommyDreamer).

Chris Jericho Talks About Leaving WWE & Calls TNA Horrendous

12

Former six-time World Heavyweight Champion, WWE superstar, the lead singer of Fozzy, & the host of ABC’s Downfall, Chris Jericho, was one of the special guests on this week’s live edition (08/02/10) of the award-winning Monday Night Mayhem. You can feel The Mayhem live every Monday night (at 7PM ET/6PM CT) at MondayNightMayhem.com.

Click Here to listen to an MP3 of the full Interview

Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:

What has been the most rewarding part of the release of Fozzy’s fourth album, Chasing the Grail and what it has been like for the band to be embraced band by their peers within the rock/metal scene & the music industry: “I think how the band started, it was a fun thing playing a lot of covers, and that’s how we were signed by the guy that signed Metallica & Anthrax. We really didn’t understand it, but we did it, and then to morph out of that into a “real band,” playing all original stuff, especially our last two records. Just to see the shift in attitudes from people who understands the band, it has become a viable, kick-ass rock n’ roll band with great songs. I think an example of the most rewarding part was when we played in BB Kings in New York; we had four-fifths of Anthrax there, Avenged Sevenfold joined us on stage, Vinnie Paul from Pantera was there. Just a huge cavalcade of guys from the business there, and it was just cool to say that we have respect from our peers, which is so important.”

His upcoming seven-on-seven Elimination Tag Team Match at SummerSlam (Team WWE vs. The Nexus), why the angle with The Nexus has generated so much positive buzz, & why he believes the fans have been intrigued thus far: “This match is cool, because obviously they created a great angle using guys who have never had matches on TV before basically, which I don’t think has ever been done before, and to have such a talked about storyline. Seven guys who have proved nothing as far as being main-event draws, but it goes to show that when you have a good storyline, a good idea, and promote it the right way. I’m just excited about it, and I’m happy about the storyline leading up to it. I think people are really intrigued by the whole situation, and that’s the best thing you could do, and to me, that’s the most important thing has always been the story. The match is important, but it’s the story that gets you there.”

The evolution & growth of Jericho’s rookie from NXT Season I Wade Barrett, why Chris knew that he saw himself with “the winner” as soon as they were paired up together, & why he would have been a great star in the WWE whether The Nexus was created or not: “There really hasn’t been much growth…he was good from the moment that he appeared. You could see his presence & his promo ability right off the bat was tremendous, his whole look & ambiance, so he was a star right off the bat, and as soon as I was paired up with him, I knew I was with the winner, because he’s got it more than these other guys do. Work wise, we really haven’t seen much from him. Is he a great worker? Is he a good worker? Does he suck? I don’t know, I think he’s a good worker and has room for improvement, and that’s because he doesn’t have a lot of experience in WWE arenas. But he, by far, is the most talented of the group, the biggest star of the group. Whether they created Nexus or not, he would have been a great star in the WWE. The only thing we need to work on with him is his actual matches, because we haven’t gotten to see much, except for a couple of three-minute matches. But other than that, I think he’s the total package of what we are looking for in the WWE at this point.”

The comparisons of The Nexus to the original NWO, along with the recycling of old angles in professional wrestling & sports-entertainment: “There’s only so many ideas you could think of, and there’s only so much talent out there. The bottom line is there’s so many new guys on the shows nowadays, so you have to use that to your advantage, or you have to go back to your old faithful. I don’t see this being the NWO, because the NWO wasn’t like this. The NWO began with three guys that were all World Champions and big huge stars. So you have Hall, Nash, & Hogan who everyone had known & seen before, and that was part of the shock. The Nexus, we don’t know any of these guys or seen any of them before. They have never drawn a dime anywhere, and that’s the difference. This pack that are working as a well-oiled machine that’s done nothing before…that’s the real surprise. As far as what TNA is doing with ECW, why not?

Why he sees TNA as being a “vanity project that’s been treading water for the last four years,” why he sees their booking being “horrendous,” why the HardCORE Justice could spike their PPV buyrates, & why bringing in Tommy Dreamer could be just what the company needs: “They got nothing else going on, their booking is horrendous, and I say that with the utmost respect for those guys and I most desire to see them succeed, but it’s crap. You know it’s crap, they throw stuff up against the wall, and it’s so hard to watch when it doesn’t have to be. They’re doing 10,000 buys on Pay-Per-View, so let’s bring back The Sandman & Sabu, and maybe they could do 30,000 buys. Go for it; maybe they can do something out of it. Having a guy like Tommy Dreamer involved behind the scenes might be what they need. Get rid of the same old stuff that they have been doing over & over, and bring in someone with a new perspective, and maybe that will help them get their heads out of there asses and just making some money instead of doing this as sort of a vanity project that’s been treading water for the last four years.”

How Chris stays in shape with all of his WWE commitments, his duties as the host of ABC’s Downfall, Fozzy, & other projects: “Crystal Meth. No, I have a lot of drive & passion for the things that I do, and I don’t take on stuff that I can’t completely nail. I’m not as busy as I could be, I still turn down quite a lot of things. Obviously with the band I’ve been playing music a lot longer than I have been wrestling, so this is something I have always wanted to do. As far as the other things, Downfall was a huge opportunity for me, and I would be crazy not to do that. Am I busy sometimes? Yeah, but it all balances out, and when it’s my time off, it’s my time off.”

What does Chris have left to give to the wrestling industry if he decides to stay with the WWE when his contract expires this fall & his response to the Internet rumors that foresee him leaving World Wrestling Entertainmeny being a mere certainty: “Just keep giving what I’ve been giving for the last 20 years, which is performing at the highest level that I can, and I think the stuff I have been doing over the last three years is the best work of my career. So there’s no reason for me to walk away from the WWE at this point, because I think I could perform at the level I have been doing for the last three years because you can’t teach experience. The company has a great future ahead of it, and guys are starting to break through that I’m really proud of. A guy like me, who has been doing this for 20 (and I’m only 39 years old), I could keep doing this another five or six years if I want to, so when it’s time for me to walk away, I’ll know, but as for now, I still enjoy it. I love speculation…that’s what I love about the Internet. Somebody writes something, so it becomes the gospel truth and written in stone.”

AJ Styles Assesses TNA’s Decision-Making In Interview

13

This week on PWI Weekly, AJ STYLES stops by to talk about all things TNA Wrestling. Find out what Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s top ranked wrestler in the world (PWI 500) thinks about TNA and what it needs to do to beat WWE, who he wants to see join the company, and what he thinks about Ric Flair, Dixie Carter, Batista, Michelle McCool, and Christian.

On Losing the Title to RVD
“I definitely didn’t understand it. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand it. I was very surprised that I would lose that title after holding it for so long, and to somebody who has basically been out of wrestling for over a year, and was coming in from WWE. And he should have been tired from wrestling a match before that. It was like I’m not the star I thought I was. I guess I’m just a guy in TNA.”

On the Changes TNA has Made
“I think there are mistakes that have been done. Things where you have to look at it and realize you have to take a step back. There were some people brought in that I don’t know that we needed, but there are other guys I think deserved a shot.”

On Being the Face of TNA
“I don’t know. People tell me that I’m the face, but sometimes I don’t feel like that. Don’t get me wrong. My peers definitely treat me with respect. I guess sometimes I wish that the higher-ups would come to me sometimes and ask, “Hey AJ, what do you think about this?”

On Being Different
“I don’t want to be like anyone else. I want to be AJ Styles. I want people to look at me, and have me be separated from everybody else.”

On his Favorite Feuds
“Christopher Daniels, Joe, and myself had some great interactions. Kurt and myself, that was a great little program we worked. And even Abyss, we had some incredible matches. The list goes on. It actually seems like working with everybody in TNA has been a favorite.”

Moving to Monday nights
“We never should have switched to Monday nights. We know that now. I wish that we would have just gone live on Thursday nights. The first one we did on Monday nights was huge, but Thursday nights was our night. There’s no mistake about it; Monday night is WWE’s. It’s theirs. We need to own Thursday nights.”

TNA’s decision to release Christopher Daniels
“It was very disturbing at first. I was very upset and confused,” he said. “I hope it’s not a long time (before he comes back), or they’ll bring Chris back.”

The state of the X Division
“We have to have more X Division matches in there. We have to let people see it. If it were up to me, we would have a little more wrestling and less talking. But, I’ve said that since the beginning.”

All that, plus what could have been had AJ accepted a WWE developmental deal in 2002, who he would “steal” from the WWE roster, and if TNA will do ECW some justice. A must-listen for any TNA fan … or wrestling fan in general! WWE Monday Night Raw Taping Results from San Antonio, Texas

Opening video and pyro went off. The main event was advertised as Randy Orton vs The Miz.

Edge came out to open the show. After saying he doesn’t trust his Raw team. Edge challenged Wade Barrett to a match. R-Truth came out and told Edge he needs to stop thinking about himself and get with the team. Edge threatened Truth with a spear.

The anonymous general manager chimed in. Cole stated the general manager wanted R-Truth to exit the ring for the next match, which was Edge vs. Barrett, Truth told Edge, “Good luck, you are on your own.”

1. Edge fought Wade Barrett to a no-contest when Nexus interfered. Barrett nearly took the spear, but he got out of the ring and called for his Nexus teammates. Edge escaped through the crowd and ran right by correspondent Edward. Edge stared down Nexus from the crowd.

2. Alicia Fox, Jillian Hall, and Tamnia defeated Natalya, Eve Torres, and Gail Kim. Fox pinned Natalya to win the match. Fox got on the mic and said she’s the best Divas Champion ever. Melina’s theme hit and she ran out and beat up Fox. Melina did the splits and then posed for the live crowd.

Backstage, Cena found Edge and said they have to fight together in order to win at SummerSlam. Edge said Cena would have to win without him because he quit the team.

Jericho came to Cena and said Cena is the one who really needs to quit. He challenged Cena to a match for later in the show. The loser of the match leaves the SummerSlam team. Cena said no at first, but Jericho convinced him.

John Morrison and Great Khali were shown talking backstage. Morrison left and the Nexus arrived. They said they didn’t attack Khali last week because they respect him and want him to join them. It was announced that Khali would face Ted DiBiase Jr. later in the show.

3. Sheamus pinned Goldust. Sheamus said what a difference a year makes. He said he became champion in one year and didn’t need a briefcase, nor did he take as long as Orton did to win his first title. He said Orton couldn’t beat Triple H, whereas he ended Hunter’s career.

4. John Cena defeated Chris Jericho in a loser leaves Team Raw match. Cena won the match with the STF. The live crowd was really into this match. Afterward, Cena told Jericho he didn’t want him to leave the team. He said Jericho is still the best at what he does, and said they could taken on Nexus together. Jericho shook his head no and walked out on Cena, so it looks like he’s off the team.

Backstage, Edge and Chris Jericho agreed that Cena needed them, but they don’t need him. The Raw general manager chimed in and announced that next week, Edge and Jericho will face Cena and Bret Hart. The Nexus members will serve as lumberjacks for the match.

Justin Roberts interviewed Randy Orton, who responded to Sheamus’s promo by saying he gave Triple H a six-week vacation by kicking him in the skull. Orton invited Sheamus to ringside to watch his match against Miz. He said the good news for Sheamus is that he will beat Miz so bad that he won’t be able to cash in his MITB contract. He said the bad news is that it will be Sheamus’s turn for the beating in two weeks.

5. The Great Khali defeated Ted DiBiase. Wade Barrett and Skip Sheffield came to ringside and distracted DiBiase by grabbing his Million Dollar Title belt, which led to Khali getting the win via the Vice Grip.

The Miz came out and said Randy made a mistake. He said he will be champion if he cashes in on Orton or Sheamus, because he’s The Miz and he’s awesome.

6. Randy Orton defeated The Miz. Sheamus watched the match from the stage. Randy pinned Miz after hitting the RKO. Sheamus rushed the ring, but Randy saw it coming and struck the Viper Pose, which stopped Sheamus dead in his tracks. This may end up being the point where the television show will go off the air.

Cena came out while Sheamus, Miz, and Orton were still at ringside. Nexus came out and told Sheamus to leave because they have a truce. Mark Henry came out with the Raw crew to fight off Nexus. The Raw crew successfully chased off the majority of Nexus and then roughed up Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. The Raw crew stood tall as Cena’s music played to end the show.

Steve Austin Hypes His New Movie “The Expendables”

8

The New York Post has a special feature looking at the new action movie “The Expendables” – which they’ve dubbed the ‘manliest movie ever.’ The action movie, which hits theaters in the United States on August 13th, features an all-star action hero cast of Sylvester Stallone, Randy Couture, Jason Statham, Steve Austin, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and more.  Austin was interviewed for the piece and had the following to say about:

His Favorite Action Movie: “I’d have to go with the first ‘Rocky.’ I saw that, got up the next morning, drank my eggs and was running down the street like an idiot.”

The Toughest “Expendable”: “The guys are all tough, but if you’re going to sit there and talk about a physical fight, I don’t think anyone will give you any argument that Randy Couture is that guy.”

His Last Real Fight: “I damn near got into a couple fights in the ring. When a guy snubs you a bit too hard, we call that a ‘potato.’ Depending on how good-natured you are, that dictates how many potatoes you want to take. When you’ve had enough, you send back what’s called a ‘receipt.’ Then it goes accordingly. Usually when you get a potato and send back a receipt, things settle down pretty fast.”

The Toughest Stunt He Did In The Movie: “My fight with Stallone. Being in a physical place with that guy and nothing but a brick and concrete floor with sand on it, and getting cut up and grinded. It was like rolling around on sandpaper. And on top of that, not wanting to throw the wrong punch and hit that guy, because that’s your star. It’s a moment of stress fighting with a guy like Sly, because I don’t care if you’re Steve Austin or not, you throw the wrong punch, you’re probably going to be gone.”

His Favorite onscreen kill: “I don’t even know. That’s a shame that I have to think about that. That only inspires me in my next endeavor to kill someone in such an extravagant fashion that we’ll have something to talk about next time.”

WWE and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) sent out the following press release this morning announcing that Triple H is the newest member of the MDA’s “Muscle Team” and will be taping part in a new campaign to raise awareness for the disease.

TUCSON, Ariz., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) announced today that WWE Superstar Triple H, a 13-time World Champion, is the newest member of MDA’s Muscle Team, a group of celebrity activists dedicated to building awareness for MDA. Triple H will begin appearing in print, video, radio and digital public service advertisements for MDA’s new “Make A Muscle, Make A Difference” campaign in August.

As a proud member of the MDA Muscle Team (see his “Make A Muscle, Make A Difference” print PSA; https://www.mda.org/news/100802tripleh-mda.html and video PSA; http://www.youtube.com/user/MySpaceMDA),  Triple H joins a diverse and growing group of celebrities including: Alison Sweeney, host of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” and “Days of Our Lives” star; Kurt Warner, former NFL Super Bowl-winning quarterback; Nancy O’Dell, Emmy-winning entertainment personality, author and entrepreneur; Booboo Stewart, star of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” movie; Wynonna Judd, country music recording artist; Ace Young, “American Idol” finalist; Brandon Barash, star of ABC’s “General Hospital” and Gold Medal Olympians Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci, all of whom are dedicated to building awareness for MDA in 2010 and beyond.

“I am honored to partner with MDA in advancing their life-saving mission for those affected by debilitating muscle diseases,” stated Triple H. “As a member of the Muscle Team, I am truly inspired by the perseverance these adults and kids demonstrate every day in overcoming the challenges of muscular dystrophy.”

Joining Triple H in some of the PSAs is Max LaCaria, an 11-year-old from Arizona who has limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. While at the photo and video shoot for the campaign, Triple H presented Max with an official WWE Championship belt.

“There’s no discounting the importance of having Triple H as a member of the MDA Muscle Team,” said Gerald C. Weinberg, MDA President & CEO. “He’s already energizing fans as champions for MDA both in and out of the ring. And, while everyone is amazed by Triple H’s incredible physical strength, it pales when compared to the strength of his caring heart.”

Drew McIntyre Talks About Being Vince’s “Chosen One”

17

WWE star Drew McIntyre was recently interviewed by Slam Wrestling and spoke about the strong push he’s gotten so far and what it’s like being Vince McMahon’s “chosen one.”

McIntyre says despite the fact that he’s still one of the newer faces in WWE, he’s already got all the tools to be a top star and is rising to the top for a reason.

“There’s a lot of hype for a good reason,” McIntyre said. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but I believe in my head, but I feel that… when I was home in Scotland, I was watching some of the guys in TV talking about how they don’t get an opportunity, blah blah blah, Drew McInytre was the Chosen One, and he gets these opportunities. Then I think about it from my point of view. Wait a minute, and I honestly believe this, if an actor in Hollywood has been an actor for 20 years, and some new kid comes along, perfect for the role — he’s good-looking, he’s right, he’s good-looking, foreign, he’s got a sweet accent — this is the guy they’re going to want; we don’t know if he’s got the tools yet, but they’ll give him the opportunity to see how he does, and if he does well, fantastic. If he doesn’t, ugh.”

McIntyre says there’s pressure that comes from being Vince McMahon’s hand-picked “next big star,” but it’s nothing he can’t handle.

“I love pressure,” said McIntyre. “I work best under pressure. … It was pretty much what I’d been working for, for my entire life. This is all I’ve wanted, I worked hard at it since I was a kid. I worked hard in the gym. I’ve worked very hard to get that thumbs up from the boss himself. It was just justification in my head that all this has paid off. I get the opportunity to do what I always believed I was destined to do. … It just feels like it’s in my blood.”

Jim Ross Talks About Scouting At WWE Developmental

2

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. In this update, JR talks about visiting WWE’s developmental territory over the weekend and scouting for new talent. He wrote:

“Enjoyed being around the 63 wrestlers who are trying out in Tampa this weekend and that ends Monday. Had an especially good time w/ Dusty Rhodes and the entire FCW crew who all do a great job teaching the fundamentals of the wrestling biz.

It’s hard for me to say how many prospects to be offered contracts but my best guess is that it will be in single digits likely between 2-5.

Really had a good time talking to many of the prospects Saturday and Sunday. I enjoy mentoring and helping these young people achieve their goals.

Mathematically, it’s tougher to earn a spot on a WWE roster than it is to make a 53 man NFL roster.

Goldust spoke to the group on Sunday and did anazingly well addressing the group and answering their questions. I heard R Truth also did a nice job addressing the group Friday. John Cena will neet w/ them on Monday morning.

As I understand it, WWE officials will award contracts to the most deserving candidates Monday afternoon. I wish them all good luck and hope that those who don’t leave w/ a deal stay positive and continue to chase an elusive dream.”
