Ric Flair Berates Restaurant Manager, Offers Waitress $1k Tip In Candid Video

0

Ric Flair has seen controversy follow him for decades, and things aren’t slowing down for the 75-year-old legend. The 16-time World Champion was recently involved in a controversy after criticizing Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza in Gainesville, Florida. He claimed he was treated disrespectfully, but a video of an incident he had with the staff paints a different picture.

Flair stated, “I graciously took 20 pictures with customers and staff,” after spending $1,500 at the restaurant. Despite this, he was asked to leave following a disagreement with the kitchen manager, which Flair attributed to the manager spending too much time in the bathroom. This led to a heated, profanity-laden exchange.

Here’s the footage, courtesy of Tiktok user @bussines11.11:

Flair advised people looking for a pleasant dining experience in Gainesville to avoid Piesanos. In response, the co-owner of the restaurant defended the decision to ask him to leave, supporting the staff’s actions during the incident.

The ‘Nature Boy’ is visibly frustrated, uses strong language towards the manager, calling him a ‘dip****’, and challenging him to a physical fight outside the restaurant. Flair ended the incident by offering a $1000 tip to one of the staff members.

Ric Flair’s Controversies

Flair has gotten his share of negative headlines in recent years.  His involvement in the infamous ‘Plane Ride From Hell’ carrying WWE executives and wrestlers was brought back to the public consciousness when it was documented on Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring two years ago. Flair was involved in an incident where he flashed two stewardesses and allegedly sexually assaulted them by backing one against the wall while only wearing his ring robe.

Dark Side producers emphasized that the episode recounting these events is not mere mischief, but a dark and troubling account that highlights the severe impact on the flight crew forced to handle the aggressive behavior of intoxicated wrestlers.

WWE & Vince McMahon Referenced In Donald Trump Hush Money Trial

0

Vince McMahon and WWE were referenced in court several times on Tuesday during Stormy Daniels’ testimony as part of the ongoing hush money trial against former US President Donald Trump.

Daniels said that when she first met Trump, she “really wanted” to ask him about professional wrestling. McMahon and Trump have been close friends for decades and she was eager to explore that connection. She recalled a conversation with Trump where it “sort of clicked” for him that adult film stars are similar to athletes and pro wrestlers. Daniels, an adult film star, laughed on the stand as she her world to pro wrestling. Like WWE, “it’s real but it’s not.”

Trump faces charges of falsifying business records to conceal payments made to Daniels, who asserts they had an affair. He has entered a not guilty plea and denies the affair claim.

On Monday, both current and former officials from the Trump Organization provided testimony on how Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was reimbursed for the $130,000 payment to Daniels.

Judge Juan Merchan has reiterated that Trump violated his gag order twice and has warned him again about the potential for jail time if he continues to post attacks on witnesses and the jury.

New York Mayor Eric Adams stated that the city’s Department of Correction and Rikers Island are prepared to accommodate Donald Trump if he is incarcerated for violating Judge Merchan’s gag order in the trial.

AEW Dynamite Preview: Kenny Omega To Make Important Announcement

0

Kenny Omega will share something very important with the fans during the upcoming May 8, episode of AEW Dynamite.

On Twitter, news of Omega’s importance announcement was shared by the official AEW account. Whatever the EVP has to say will happen inside the Rogers Place Arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It’s unknown what Omega will have to say on Dynamite, though it will likely refer to the actions of The Elite. The group (which now includes Jack Perry), attacked Tony Khan recently and ambushed Omega during last week’s episode of Dynamite

AEW Announcements

AEW is no stranger to announcements but these have often been met with mixed reviews from fans. Some announcements have certainly been massive, such as the reveal of AEW All In in April 2023, or the announcement of AEW Collision the following month.

Some announcements, however, have fallen flat with fans who expected much bigger revelations from the company. In November 2023, a much-hyped announcement revealed that tickets for All In 2024 would be going on sale the following week. Many fans found this news to be a dud and hardly needed teasing as an announcement first.

AEW Dynamite – 5/8/2024

Dynamite will see much more than an announcement from Kenny Omega. Orange Cassidy will face off against Trent Beretta in the latest chapter of their deeply personal rivalry.

Mariah May will look to continue proving herself to AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm when she takes on Harley Cameron. The Australian will likely have Saraya in her corner.

Mere days after defending his TNT title against Buddy Matthews, Adam Copeland will put his gold on the line again. This time it’ll be the House of Black’s Brody King who gets a shot at the gold.

Keep checking in to SE Scoops for all the latest from AEW Dynamite as the company builds towards their Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

The Undertaker: ‘Paul Bearer Wouldn’t Have Felt Disrespected By WrestleMania 29 Angle’

0

Paul Bearer would’ve loved being in one final WWE storyline after his passing, according to his long-term ally The Undertaker.

The legendary manager’s passing rocked the wrestling world in 2013, as did WWE’s decision to incorporate it into a storyline. Bearer’s passing was repeatedly poked fun of by CM Punk as part of the Best in the World’s ‘mind games’ with The Undertaker ahead of their clash at WrestleMania 29.

At the time, many felt that WWE crossed a line and that more respect should have been shown to Bearer after his passing. On his Six Feet Under podcast, however, The Undertaker argued that being in the story is what his late manager would’ve wanted.

“Everybody was a little uptight about bringing that to me, thinking it might be disrespectful. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Paul would love the fact that even after he’s gone… I don’t think he would have felt like it was disrespectful.”

The Undertaker isn’t the only one who feels this way. Speaking to TMZ at the time, Bearer’s son Michael Moody made clear WWE had the family’s permission.

“We felt that dad would have wanted us at RAW last week and agreed to the angle… We knew Dad wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

The storyline ultimately saw The Undertaker defeat CM Punk at WrestleMania, giving the Phenom his 21st win at the event; the final win of his legendary undefeated streak. As for Paul Bearer, he’d be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame that same year, and would have relished one last time in the spotlight.

Jey Uso On His Viral Entrance At WWE Backlash: ‘I Felt Like Bray Wyatt Was Showing Love To Me’

0

Jey Uso got “emotional” when the fans reminded him of late WWE star Bray Wyatt during his entrance at last Saturday’s WWE Backlash: France Premium Live Event.

Jey’s entrance is always a spectacle as thousands of fans groove and ‘yeet’ to his entrance song. Well, Backlash PLE in Lyon, France was no different. However, it was a bit more special as the fans showered love on him with Bray Wyatt-esque ‘fireflies.’

Speaking with Cathy Kelley in a Raw Exclusive, the former Bloodline member said that witnessing the fireflies, he felt that Wyatt showed him love from heaven and it was a touching moment for him. He further said that he is “blessed” to have experienced it. He said:

“It was dope, though. Seeing all the fireflies came out, I got real emotional. Ain’t had much [time] to talk about it. But a lot of people were asking me what it was from my point of view. I just felt like Bray Wyatt was showing love to me.

That’s the first time I’ve seen the fireflies appear, I feel like, since he’s been gone. So I was really emotional seeing all of that. For that to happen to me, I was blessed with that.”

Jey Uso is eyeing to win KOTR

Things didn’t go in favor of ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso at WWE Backlash: France. In a high-intensity bout, he came pretty close to dethroning Damian Priest. However, ‘The Archer of Infamy’ successfully retained his title after his stablemates, JD McDonagh and Finn Balor assisted him.

Now, he’s got a new goal. On this week’s edition of Raw, Drew McIntyre was pulled from his first-round match against Finn Balor as he was not medically cleared to compete. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Jey Uso would replace ‘The Scottish Warrior.’

After a gruesome battle, Jey Uso emerged victorious and qualified for the next round where he will face the former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov.

Daily Drop (5/7): Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef Gets WWE Spotlight, AEW Star Combats Injury Rumors

0

Welcome to the Daily Drop for May 7, 2024. It’s Tuesday, so NXT has the fallout from their two-week Spring Breakin’ special tonight. There is also a lot to unpack from all over the pro wrestling world.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef has stretched into the pro wrestling realm. After Shawn Michaels’ Sweet Chin Music was brought into the picture, he extended an open invitation to have them settle their beef in NXT. CM Punk then quoted Kendrick on WWE RAW, as he cut a promo on Drew McIntyre.

Now, let’s get into today’s Daily Drop!

WWE:

WWE NXT Card for 5/7:

  • NXT Women’s Championship Match: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Chelsea Green
  • Singles Match: Wes Lee vs. Josh Briggs
  • NXT Women’s North American Championship Combine

The King is Gone: Jerry Lawler is no longer under WWE contract, ending a relationship that continued since 1992. He is still under a Legends deal, but the company decided not to renew his commentator deal on January 2024. The news just broke on May 6.

WWE 2K24: They just released the Sandman’s entrance, which will be a part of the next wave of DLC content for WWE 2K24. 2K also put a new patch through that should correct some issues that gamers have been experiencing.

Internal Promotion: WWE’s corporate structure has undergone another change, with Chris Legentil stepping in as the new Head of Talent Relations. He replaces Dan Ventrelle, who was released from the company in April 2024.

Ricochet Vents: Following his loss to Ilja Dragunov in the King of the Ring tournament on RAW this week, Ricochet took a moment to vent backstage for a camera. He posted this shoot sounding promo on Twitter/X with a caption that said, “who gives a sh*t anymore?”

AEW:

Absolutely Not Injured: Ricky Starks has spoken out to squash the narrative that he is injured. He’s been taking time off from AEW, but he claims to be physically ready to go.

Flair’s Ejection: The pizza shop owner, who kicked Ric Flair out recently, spoke up to justify his actions. Co-owner Jerry Roberts responded to inquiries via text about Ric’s departure from their establishment, confirming that he had a reason to kick The Nature Boy out.

“We have reviewed video of the incident that took place recently at our restaurant. It is clear, our team worked in a professional manner to ensure the safety of guests and staff. We have thanked our team for their professionalism. We are proud of how they responded to this situation using and displaying our team values.”

Here are the upcoming major wrestling events

Drew McIntyre Retaliates By Torching CM Punk’s Autographed Photo

0

Drew McIntyre has had enough of CM Punk and has taken a shot back at his rival in unique style.

‘The Scottish Warrior’ is losing his cool after consistently being at the end of multiple scathing promos from CM Punk. McIntyre left this week’s Raw early but ‘The Second City Savior’ made a surprise appearance on the show a few moments later. He soon seized the opportunity to take jabs at the Scottish wrestler.

Drew McIntyre did not return to the show. However, he noted CM Punk’s comments on him. Taking to his X account, the former WWE Champion took a shot back at Punk by setting the latter’s autographed photo ablaze and throwing the ashes on the ground. This is the same photograph that McIntyre acquired last week on Raw.

Drew McIntyre was originally scheduled to face The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor in the  King of The Ring tournament’s first round. But, ‘The Scottish Warrior’, who injured his elbow at WrestleMania 40, was not medically cleared to compete. Raw GM Adam Pearce announced that his replacement would be Jey Uso, who went on to qualify for the next round.

CM Punk-Drew McIntyre rivalry

The Chicago legend has been getting under the skin of McIntyre since WrestleMania 40 where he cost Drew McIntyre the World title as Damian Priest cashed in his Money In The Bank contract. The feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is now intensifying every passing week. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ and ‘The Second City Savior’ have had several verbal exchanges in the past and they don’t seem to stop anytime soon.

Punk has shown impressive recovery after undergoing tricep surgery but he is yet to be medically cleared. Both Punk and McIntyre are currently injured and it seems we will have to wait a little longer to witness them settle the matter in the ring.

King & Queen Of The Ring Results: Talent Advance On 5/6 WWE Raw, Several Stars Replaced

0

WWE took its first steps towards crowning a new King and Queen of the Ring this week with a total of six first-round matches on the May 6, episode of Raw.

Both tournaments will culminate at the WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE later this month which will take place in Saudi Arabia. WWE had initially planned on hosting the event last year but nixed the idea in favor of WWE Night of Champions. That event saw Roman Reigns reach 1,000 days as Universal Champion and Seth Rollins crowned World Heavyweight Champion.

King of the Ring Results

On Raw, the recently called-up Ilja Dragunov defeated new WWE Speed Champion Ricochet to advance to the next round. Meanwhile, Jey Uso got payback on The Judgment Day with a tournament victory over 2021 runner-up Finn Balor. Originally, Drew McIntyre was supposed to be in Jey’s spot but his injury forced changes to be made. Dragunov and Jey will face each other in the quarter-finals next week.

Queen Of The Ring Results

Raw also saw Zoey Stark advance with a win over Ivy Nile, while Lyra Valkyria defeated Dakota Kai. Like Jey Uso, Kai was a last-minute replacement for Asuka, who Damage CTRL confirmed is out with an injury. Stark and Valkyria will face each other in the next round on the May 13, episode of Raw.

What’s To Come?

While WWE promoted four matches from each tournament for Raw, only three took place. At a WWE live event this week, Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio will face off in a first-round match. This was supposed to be Rey Vs. Xavier Woods but the latter has been replaced due to not being medically cleared. The winner will face GUNTHER next week.

Shayna Baszler and Zelina Vega will also do battle at a WWE live event, despite being previously promoted for the Raw taping. The winner will face IYO SKY on next week’s Raw with a spot in the semi-finals on the line.

First-round matches will continue on the May 10, episode of WWE SmackDown. Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight, and Santos Escobar have all announced their participation.

WWE King & Queen Of The Ring 2024: Title Matches Confirmed On 5/6 Raw

0

Liv Morgan will have one more shot at becoming WWE Women’s World Champion when she challenges Becky Lynch at WWE King And Queen Of The Ring.

On the May 6, episode of Raw, it was confirmed that Morgan will challenge The Man at WWE’s next PLE in Saudi Arabia. This has quickly become a very personal feud between the pair, as Morgan was the last woman to be eliminated in the battle royal that saw Lynch capture the title in April

Morgan has made it clear that she believes she deserves to be called WWE Women’s World Champion. After all, it was Morgan who injured Rhea Ripley in an assault that forced Ripley to vacate the title in the first place. Morgan is also the last woman to hold a pinfall victory over the ‘Mami’ of The Judgment Day.

Intercontinental Title Match Announced

Morgan’s title opportunity wasn’t the only match confirmed on the May 6, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. On the show, ‘Big’ Bronson Reed faced Gad Gable in a match that saw interference from Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn. This would ultimately backfire for the underdog, as Reed would lay out Sami and Gable.

In a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, Zayn said the only way to settle things is a triple threat match for his Intercontinental Championship. This will mark the first Intercontinental title opportunity at a PLE for both Gable and Reed.

SE Scoops will have full coverage of the King & Queen of the Ring event, as well as tournament matches. Keep checking in ahead of WWE’s next Saudi Arabia event.

CM Punk Borrows From Kendrick Lamar To Cut Promo On Drew McIntyre During 5/6 WWE RAW

0

CM Punk showed up on WWE RAW this week without an arm brace on, showing that he is closer to a return to action. Sadly, Drew McIntyre is injured, and he was pulled from the King of the Ring tournament. That led to the Second City Savior cutting a memorable promo.

Drew McIntyre exited the arena early during this week’s RAW, coinciding with CM Punk’s arrival. Punk then urged fans to tweet at McIntyre to return to the arena and proceeded with his promo, during which he sharply criticized the Scottish Warrior.

During his promo, CM Punk dropped a line that said McIntyre hates the way that he walks, and hates the way that he talks. Many fans were quick to notice that Punk quoted one of Kendrick Lamar’s recent songs in that promo.

Punk and McIntyre have been feuding for months, but both have sustained injuries during this period. McIntyre seemed poised for significant roles in King of the Ring and Clash at the Castle. However, his injury might disrupt these plans.

In case you missed it, Kendrick bodied Drake in a few songs, including Euphoria, where he spit the lyrics.

It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress. I hate the way that you sneak diss, if I catch flight, it’s gon’ be direct. We hate the bitches you f*ck ’cause they confuse themself with real women.

Pro Wrestling Connection

This Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud entered the pro wrestling bubble when Shawn Michaels’ Sweet Chin Music was mentioned.

In his song, “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar references pro wrestling by alluding to Shawn Michaels’ famous finishing move. Lamar uses the imagery of “tuning up the band” to metaphorically deliver a Sweet Chin Music. The notable line starts at 2:23 in the track:

“Put the whole label on me, I’mma get ’em dropped.

Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux.”

Shawn Michaels later commented on Twitter/X, as he invited Kendrick and Drake onto NXT so they can hash out their beef. HBK even offered to mediate the proceedings. We will have to see if they take him up on that offer.

Ricky Starks Denies Rumors Of Being Injured

0

All Elite Wrestling fans are dumbfounded by the inactivity of Ricky Starks. The company hasn’t featured Starks since his tag team loss with Big Bill against Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) on the March 30 episode of AEW Collision. It was rumored that his absence was due to an injury. However, he has revealed that he is fine despite the speculations.

In his last appearance, Starks seemed to have gotten hurt towards the end of the match. After he took the pin after a Tornado DDT from Darius, doctors checked on the former tag team champion. Starks would reveal later on Instagram that he wasn’t hurt and that the doctors were looking at him for precautions. However, AEW’s decision not to feature him for over a month has left fans wondering if he was injured.

On X/Twitter, Starks shut down rumors of him being hurt.

“To ease anyone’s mind, I’m not injured. Never was. Pick another narrative pleaseeeee,” wrote Starks.

Starks’s comments were in response to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson’s report that he was getting checked out by my AEW medical team last week. He shared that doctors saw him because it was his annual physical. He also noted that he squatted over 400 pounds during his visit. It’s unclear why the AEW superstar isn’t being featured on TV, but fans are wondering what the company’s plans are for him.

AEW Seemingly Splitting Up Ricky Starks & Big Bill Tag Team

In recent weeks, Bill has started to look for guidance from ‘The Learning Tree’ Chris Jericho. He interrupted the current FTW Champion during an in-ring segment on the April 24 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Although he didn’t address his status with Starks, Bill seemed ready to move on to be with Jericho. The company could build towards Starks eventually returning to confront Bill about switching allegiance. However, it does seem like their tag team may be over. The hope for fans is that AEW could bring back Starks to be more involved on TV soon.

WWE 2K24 DLC: The Sandman Trailer From 5/15 ECW Punk Pack

0

WWE 2K24 is set to have the first batch of downloadable content on May 15. The popular video game series will have five DLC packs, which fans can purchase together in a season pass for $39.99. In preparation for next week’s release, WWE 2K24 has shared a first look at ECW legend The Sandman.

The upcoming DLC titled the ECW Punk Pack features The Sandman, The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley), Terry Funk, and CM Punk as playable characters. It will mark the first time they will be playable in the last few years, including The Sandman, who hasn’t been in a WWE video game since Smackdown vs. Raw 2008.

WWE 2K24’s X/Twitter account previewed a first look and the entrance for The Sandman.

More On The Sandman In WWE 2K24

Although the hardcore icon character model looks good, his appearance resembles his time in WWE. Fans may be disappointed that his signature ECW theme, Enter Sandman by Metallica, isn’t featured in his entrance. It’s also noticeable that the ECW legend doesn’t come to the ring from the crowd in the game.

The Sandman is rated 86 in WWE 2K24

It’s unclear why WWE 2K developers didn’t include The Sandman’s signature entrance in their latest installment. Alongside the first look at the hardcore legend, WWE 2K24 revealed that he has an 86 overall. The Sandman’s stats come as a surprise, with the ECW icon having better numbers than current WWE superstars.

The Sandman’s Overall Compared To Current WWE Superstars In The Game

The Sandman’s high overall may surprise some fans compared to active WWE talent featured in the game. WWE 2K24 has the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion rated higher than the likes of AJ Styles (85), Chad Gable (80), and Austin Theory (72). He also has a better overall than other WWE Hall of Famers featured in the game, like Booker T (85) and Harley Race (84).

In an interview with Squared Circle Pit’s Rob Pasbani, WWE 2K24 Producer Bryan Williams explained how it’s decided to give certain wrestlers their overall

SEScoops’ Thomas Lowson transcribed the following quotes.

“For us on the design side, we’re really big on character differentiation and making sure that when you select a character that they are of their appropriate hierarchy on the card. Not everybody can be a Roman Reigns. You have people that are at the tippety top of the card and then you have people that are not, but there’s no slight on anybody,” said Williams.

Williams also noted how many championships a wrestler has held and their win/loss record were considered when making the decision.

It’s unclear why the WWE 2K developers felt The Sandman should have a better overall than several top current talent and legends. However, fans of the ECW legend will soon get a chance to put his overall to the test next week.

Restaurant Owner Claims ‘Evidence Was Clear’ In Asking Ric Flair To Leave Pizza Shop

0

“A big pizza pie” is not “amore” between Ric Flair and a Gainsville, Florida pizza shop as ‘The Nature Boy’ was asked to leave the restaurant following an incident that happened on Cince De Mayo.

Flair took to social media to air his grievances after leaving Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza stating that he spent over $1,500 while at the place entertaining fans and customers.

“I Was Asked To Leave Because Of An Issue I Had With The Kitchen Manager Taking Too Long In The Bathroom. I Would Highly Recommend That Anyone Who Wants To Enjoy A Relaxing Time In Gainesville At A Nice Restaurant To Never Visit This Place! WOOOOO!”

The Gainesville Sun happened to reach out to ownership of Piesano’s to get a statement regarding the incident. Co-owner Jerry Roberts happened to respond to them via text and without giving details of exactly what went down, said that requesting Ric’s leave was warranted.

“We have reviewed video of the incident that took place recently at our restaurant. It is clear, our team worked in a professional manner to ensure the safety of guests and staff. We have thanked our team for their professionalism. We are proud of how they responded to this situation using and displaying our team values.”

Flair is currently under contract with AEW, but hasn’t been seen on the company’s programming since his involvement in Sting’s last match at AEW Revolution. Flair has been busy making appearances and was apart of the festivities during WrestleMania weekend. He also recently expressed his disappointment online about not being involved in the upcoming “Who Killed WCW” docu-series on VICE TV.

Vince McMahon Is Still Sports-Entertaining, Just Add a Cane and Massive Legal & PR Teams

0

Vince McMahon may no longer have a wrestling company, but it hasn’t stopped him from doing what he loves most, put on a bad show.

Give him a cane, he’s not quite Fred Astaire, though.

Add an ill-fitting golf shirt, a thinner trembling physique, McMahon can be viewed in a recently released smartphone video weakly maneuvering the steps into a building. An unknown woman holding the door, the video is short, but it’s enough to portray McMahon as a beat up and harmless grandpa and not the Genetic Jackhammer, one of the countless nicknames he gave himself when he was running WWE.

It would be more convincing if this act hadn’t occurred before.

In 1993, a much younger McMahon was in federal court for steroids. This period is easy to identify in video and photos, not because of courthouse or judges in the background, but because McMahon was wearing a neck brace to court.

The brace was similar to Tony Khan’s, who did it as an old-fashioned sell after he was attacked by The Elite. He spent the next several days all over ESPN and NFL Network explaining the angle while he was in the Jacksonville Jaguars draft room.

It’s even less convincing after Harvey Weinstein’s recent schtick. After having his New York sex assault convictions overturned last week (he’s still convicted in California), was recorded on video trying to slowly use a walker in a corridor in an ill-fitting suit. Sweating, shaking, his hair a mess, Weinstein looked remarkably similar to McMahon.

It doesn’t help when the Grant investigation was announced, McMahon announced he was leaving to have spinal surgery done. What a coincidence.

Still sports entertaining, after all these years, McMahon’s show with the cane – like his performance with the neck brace years ago – is standard Vince fare. He no longer has a wrestling company, but he has the best law firm and the best PR firm money can buy and the world’s largest stage ahead – the US justice system. His new co-stars are going to weave his story any way that benefits him, the truth be damned, because that’s what lawyers and crisis management PR firms do, especially if that client is a billionaire and he’s paying you millions.

Meet your new cast – Jessica Taub Rosenberg, his lead attorney and co-chair of the firm that recently handed WWE a loss in civil court to MLW. She has attacked McMahon accuser Janel Grant on a regular basis in motions she’s filed or in interviews and statements.

First came a “love letter” to the New York Post, one in which Grant wrote in the opening paragraph it took “24 drafts” and has around five to six quotations on its first page lifted from Google searches.

As a passionate declaration of love, it was more of a fifth grader working to get a late assignment done before lunch ends.

Rosenberg said the letter was proof that McMahon did nothing to Grant. She’s angry at him for ending their affair and she’s still madly in love with him. That this is coming from an attorney is mind blowing, but that’s the case they’re making. Love letters were also given to Epstein and Weinstein, and it didn’t make them less guilty of sex assault.

Weeks later, NBC News stepped in. While it gets into the nuts and bolts of the court story, it paints McMahon flying the world in his private jet, in search of orphaned puppies and kittens to give to friends, who still keep in touch – like Donald Trump, John Cena and The Rock.

The same McMahon whose stories about “sneezing” and how sees it as an act of weakness. I can’t imagine the pain of carrying puppies and kittens up the steps into a private plane with a cane when you can barely walk a couple steps into a building. Some jerk might be sneezing around you, too.

The latest character in this drama – or the latest announced – is Michael Sitrick, the PR ace whose firm is considered the best media crisis company around. If you need a media crisis company, it’s not because you rescued orphaned puppies and kittens. If you need Sitrick’s, you’re either rich or have major problems.

Sitrick’s acknowledgement page on his firm’s website is one to behold. He has more nicknames than a McMahon villain and he seems to relish them.

– “One of the most accomplished practitioners of the dark arts of public relations.”

– “The Winston Wolf of Public Relations”

– “The Wizard of Spin”

– The Flack for When You’re Under Attack.”

– “The spin doctor’s spin doctor”

– And my favorite, the “Ninja Master of the Dark Art of Spin”

Winston Wolf was a character in the Quintin Tarantino movie Pulp Fiction, who helped cover up an accidental murder committed by Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta in the backseat of their car.

Spin is another word for lying, whether one is a wizard or has their doctorate.

According to the New York Times, his list of clients feature Weinstein, Chris Brown, Halle Berry and dozens of massive corporations as well as Jeffrey Epstein. He’s also working pro bono for murdered journalist Daniel Pearl’s foundation.

He unfortunately found himself as part of the story earlier this year Hours before Epstein’s court documents were to be released in January, Sitrick’s own computers were stolen and his office burglarized, according to a story in LA Mag.

“It has to be a coincidence,” Sitrick said.

The New York Times said Sitrick is often hired by the legal team of clients, meaning he’s part of the litigation process, but that also grants him attorney-client privilege.

If you want entertainment, here it is, just remember whose expense it’s from. McMahon, his law firm and his PR firm don’t want this quietly to go through court, they want to make this a show. And they’re building the ultimate antagonist, Janel Grant.

It appears they want to push her into dropping her case or taking an easy settlement. But it also sends a message to other possible victims out there if they come forward.

Rosenberg has taken character shots at Grant since she started representing McMahon. Whether it’s in the New York Post’s article on the love letter she wrote, the motion she filed for private arbitration or a response to the recent change of heart by John Laurinaitis, who called himself an unwilling victim of McMahon until last week.

Laurinaitis’s attorney released a statement saying he was joining McMahon on an arbitration motion to force Grant to negotiate with them in the terms of the NDA she signed, then denied all of the allegations in the complaint.

This came months after his attorney said he was in fact a victim, going as far as to say WWE management knew about the Ashley Massaro incident, something the company denied for years.

Immediately after Laurinaitis announced he wasn’t a victim and none of this happened after all, Rosenberg was quick to put out a statement.

“In January 2024, Ms. Grant, a 43-year-old with a law degree, who was in love with Mr. McMahon and devastated by their break-up, filed an outrageous and false lawsuit to ruin Mr. McMahon’s career and reputation,” Rosenberg said. “Now, her false allegations are slowly unraveling. Today, Mr. Laurinaitis’ attorney confirmed his client will corroborate Mr. McMahon’s account and expose the lies within the Complaint. Despite their intense efforts, Ms. Grant’s attorneys won’t be able to suppress the truth from coming out.”

Rosenberg has plenty to say about Grant, but little to say about her allegations, the text messages in the complaint, and the times and dates that are laid out. The locations, the various corporate officers noted and the video recordings of the alleged assaults that happened in offices and meeting rooms. The fact she has a law deg
ree doesn’t mean she can’t be forced into signing a bad NDA, or you’re somehow incapable of being in bad financial straights and mental health. It doesn’t mean you can’t be sexually assaulted.

This is a precursor in case the main event comes down. A federal criminal grand jury has been convened since last summer in Southern District of New York,

Allegations WSJ said feds are looking into – like rape and sex trafficking – similar to what Grant has accused McMahon in her civil complaint. She hasn’t said a word about McMahon’s phone, who WSJ reported was taken by the feds as evidence, including other communications.

The entire showbiz promotion around McMahon’s defense shows the difference between how justice works for most people in this country and how it works for the rich and powerful.

A world where defense lawyers – bogged down in cases – keep out of media even if their clients are getting slimed and their reputations ruined before they go to trial, simply because they don’t have the time to deal with it. Ninety-nine percent of us couldn’t pay for a public relations intern, let alone a Sitrick.

It shows how justice worked for Massaro or Rita Chatterton, who accused McMahon of assault in 1992, was sued by McMahon for the accusation, only to get a million dollar payoff years later around the time of WWE’s board was investigating Grant’s accusations.

It’s also a bizarre twist on law, that an NDA is somehow has supremacy in court over the Speaking Out Act or allegations of sex abuse.

It shows how justice worked for a young woman at a Boca Raton tanning salon, whose story matches elements of Grant’s, Chatterton’s and others, where McMahon got off on a technicality and escaped an assault charge.

It means the millions in payoffs WWE had to disclose to the SEC are figments of everyone’s imagination.

Despite the sideshow that’s unfolding before us, truth and fact still matter in a court room. The same court, where a federal grand jury is convening about McMahon, recently convicted a former president.

What McMahon, Rosenberg or Sitrick say about Grant won’t make a difference in court. They can look into her motivations, her background, her character – that’s fair game. But at the end McMahon has to answer to the complaint. If he’s indicted, he’s going to answer to federal criminal charges, not an ex-employee. This is the reality, not the sideshow, and no matter what is thrown out there in the coming months, that won’t change.

Shawn Michaels Offers To Mediate Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake Feud In NXT

0

Shawn Michaels wants Kendrick Lamar and Drake to “tune up the band” in WWE NXT.

Drake and Lamar have been verbally butting heads via diss tracks at one another since March but the beef has been amping up the past two weeks. Lamar happened to conjure up Shawn Michaels’ “Sweet Chin Music” finisher in the song titled “Not Like Us” stating “Put the whole label on me, I’mma get ’em dropped, Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux.”

Drake then happened to fire back on Sunday night with a new track, but that one was without any pro wrestling references.

Nonetheless, Michaels caught wind of the rap and decided to offer a venue and his services to settle the score.

“A little Sweet Chin Music goes a long way. Kendrick Lamar, you and Drake are formally invited to #WWENXT to settle this thing. I’m even offering my services to mediate.”

Could Shawn Michaels play peacemaker between Drake and Kendrick Lamar?

The feud between Lamar and Drake has gotten personal as both have referenced their families and relationships. Back in his heyday, Michaels was no stranger to getting personal with Bret Hart during the beginning of the Attitude Era and in turn, Hart wasn’t afraid to fire back.

With Lamar dropping such a line “Not Like Us” and Drake notoriously representing Razor Ramon by wearing a classic “Bad Guy” tee, the two clearly have some semblence of wrestling fandom. They also wouldn’t be the first set of hip-hop artists to set foot in the squared circle as Bad Bunny set a precedent for rappers stepping into the ring.

WWE 2K24 Patch 1.06 Updates MyFACTION Unlockables and More

0

WWE 2K24 has released Patch 1.06, targeting stability improvements across several game modes. The update fixes issues with MyFACTION leaderboards, Ring Announcer settings in Title Matches, and allows more flexibility in MyGM mode by enabling players to book SuperStars from different tag teams in the same match.

WWE 2K24 has rolled out its latest update, bringing a series of stability improvements to enhance the gaming experience. This update addresses several issues reported by players, ensuring smoother gameplay across various game modes.

WWE 2K24 Patch 1.06 Notes

  • Stability Improvements
  • Addressed reported concerns of leaderboards not loading correctly within MyFACTION
  • Addressed reported concerns related to setting the Ring Announcer to None when entering a Title Match
  • Addressed reported concerns of auto complete preventing players in MyGM from booking SuperStars from different tag teams in the same match

One of the key fixes in this patch includes a solution to the leaderboards not loading correctly within the MyFACTION mode. Players had reported this issue, which affected their ability to track progress and standings accurately. The update ensures that leaderboards will now function as intended, displaying data correctly and reliably.

The patch resolves a problem related to the Ring Announcer settings in Title Matches. Previously, setting the Ring Announcer to “None” could cause issues during these matches. With this update, players can now choose this setting without experiencing disruptions.

Another significant fix addresses the issue in the MyGM mode, where auto-completion settings prevented players from booking SuperStars from different tag teams in the same match. This enhancement will allow for more flexibility in match setups, providing players with a broader range of strategic options.

These updates, along with several other minor fixes, are part of WWE 2K24’s ongoing efforts to respond to community feedback and improve the overall gameplay experience.

Patch 1.06 is now available for download across all platforms where WWE 2K24 is supported.

Previous WWE 2K24 Update

2K keeps putting hours into releasing updated patches for their latest offering. The 1.05 update for WWE 2K24 introduced significant audio enhancements, including full Create-A-Superstar (CAS) support for announcers Samantha Irvin and Alicia Taylor. Additionally, the update expanded match options, allowing players to select their preferred Ring Announcer from Mike Rome, Samantha Irvin, or Alicia Taylor, providing gamers with more customization options for their in-game experience.

They also tweaked camera angle issues for several moves in the game. They also addressed reported concerns related to shadows not displaying properly in the WrestleMania 31 daytime arena.

WWE 2K24 Reception

WWE 2K24 was launched on March 8, 2024, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.  The game was well-received by critics, earning generally favorable reviews. It was praised for its incremental improvements and refinements compared to its predecessor. Notable scores include an 8/10 from both IGN and GameSpot, and an 81% on Metacritic. Additionally, it has a user rating of 3.7 based on 316 reviews.

We reviewed WWE 2K24 before it was released. SEScoops correspondent Tyriece Simon gave the game an 8.5/10:

Report: WWE Corporate Shake-Ups Continue With New Head Of Talent Relations

0

The corporate shake-up of WWE continues forward with the appointment of Chris Legentil as the new Head of Talent Relations.

Legentil is set to replace Dan Ventrelle who parted ways with WWE in April 2024. Ventrelle had worked closely with WWE President Nick Khan and WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque during his run and worked with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders before making the move to the squared circle.

A memo sent out by Khan, obtained by PW Insider, reads as follows:

“WWE has begun the process of reorganizing its Talent Relations group. Moving forward, Chris Legentil, in addition to his new role in Comms, will help us in leading this new group. Matt Altman, in addition to his role in Marketing, will be working closely with Chris to help in this endeavor.

“Talent Development and Recruiting will now report into Shawn Michaels.

“All of Talent, which includes Talent Relations, Development and Recruiting, will continue to ultimately report into Paul Levesque.

As of today, Dan Ventrelle will be moving on from WWE.

We thank Dan for his tremendous contributions.

Sincerely,

Nick Khan

Legentil joined WWE at Khan’s behest in 2021 and had previously been a part of sports broadcaster DAZN. In WWE, Legentil had previously been a part of the Communications department before adding Head of Talent Relations to his resume.

As the role’s name suggests, Legentil will oversee all manner of talent-related matters ranging from handling of in-house stars to recruitment of wrestlers outside the promotion. This new role will mean he’ll continue to work closely with Levesque and Khan.

Chris Legentil is WWE’s new Head of Talent Relations.

Legentil will be hoping to distance himself from the efforts of John Laurinaitis, a former Head of Talent Relations who was removed in the wake of Vince McMahon’s resignation in 2022. Laurinaitis has also been tied to Janel Grant’s lawsuit and recently came out supporting McMahon’s efforts to compel arbitration.

Ultimately, WWE is seeking to move on from the controversial names of its past, and hope that Legentil will be part of the team to do just that. With WWE boasting a massive roster across its three brands and with plenty of non-WWE names on the company’s radar, Legentil will be kept plenty busy in his new role.

More WWE Exits

Ventrelle isn’t the only long-standing WWE name to go. Here are some recent articles regarding others who have left WWE offices.

WWE Files Response To $250 Million Plagiarism Lawsuit Seeking “All Ships & Plunder”

0

WWE has filed a response to a bizarre lawsuit against them in which the claimant alleges that the promotion partook in plagiarism.

The lawsuit in question was filed by Anthony Duane Wilson who is seeking damages from both WWE and AEW. Wilson alleges that WWE has repeatedly stolen his ideas without being paid for his work. He did not give a specific example of an idea that was used by WWE without his blessing.

Wilson also alleges that he and the Bullet Club had plans to start a wrestling promotion, known today as AEW. It is claimed that the wrestling faction stole plans Wilson devised to create the promotion.

In a response filed on May 3, WWE requested that the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, Youngstown dismiss the case. WWE argues that Wilson lacks a legitimate basis under Ohio State law. All allegations against WWE are denied in this filing.  WWE’s filing does not make reference to Wilson being incarcerated after throwing urine on a corrections officer. The filing also ignores Wilson’s demand for the return of “all ships and plunder.”

Should Wilson somehow win the case against WWE and AEW, he is seeking $250 million in damages as well as control of AEW in addition to a public apology. From WWE, Wilson is seeking stock for his freelance work as well as a WWE board chair. While the case was dismissed in November 2023, it was dismissed without prejudice, giving him the chance to re-file and attempt to move the case forward.

It’s highly unlikely that Wilson will see a penny from WWE or AEW, never mind a seat at the board of the former and ownership of the latter. Nevertheless, SE Scoops will continue to follow this unlikely trial for further updates.

Report: Jerry Lawler’s WWE Contract Not Renewed, Still Under Legends Deal

0

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler has parted ways with WWE after decades with the Sports Entertainment promotion, it has been reported. Lawler is no longer with WWE after the company opted not to renew his contract, according to PWInsider. Their report states Lawler’s deal expired in early 2024.

One WWE source told PWInsider that Lawler’s departure was emblematic of the monumental changes happening backstage. “The old company is dead. People can say they hate Vince [McMahon] and Kevin [Dunn] all they want, and they’d be right to do so, but certain people would have been taken care of. Lawler would have been one, but this isn’t the old WWE. Howard Finkel, God bless him, wouldn’t have had a job for life here anymore, either.”

While Lawler is no longer under a broadcaster contract, he’s not entirely gone from WWE. The King is still under a ‘Legends’ deal, which allows WWE to use his name and likeness in all variety of projects. Other all-time greats signed to Legends contracts include The Undertaker, Mick Foley, and Kurt Angle.

Lawler had been out of WWE’s spotlight in recent years due to a number of health issues. The King suffered a stroke in early 2023 and underwent double knee surgery in March 2024. Despite this, Lawler recently said his health was doing great and that he was making strides in his recovery

A staple of the territories that ruled Memphis, Lawler debuted for the World Wrestling Federation in 1992. The King served as a commentator and wrestler for years in the company and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. Lawler’s final WWE match was in September 2012 during the same Raw at which he would suffer a heart attack.

Lawler’s exit from WWE underlines the new approach to business the company is making under TKO. Lawler is the latest staple to part WWE, following the likes of Kevin Dunn in late 2023 and Vince McMahon himself that same January.

Don Callis on Scott D’Amore’s TNA Exit: “I Don’t Shed a Tear for Multi-Millionaires”

0

Don Callis remained pretty callous following the news that Scott D’Amore was fired from TNA. D’Amore was let go from the company months ago as Anthem took reigns of the promotion and appointed Anthony Cicione as the new TNA President.

Callis was a big part of TNA during it’s Impact era, but had since moved on from the company after aligning with AEW. When speaking with “Sunday Night’s Main Event,” Callis was asked about D’Amore being gone from TNA and Callis claimed this was the first he heard about his exit.

“Scott’s not with TNA anymore? I don’t talk to Scott, so I don’t know… but here’s the thing: Scott D’Amore is five-foot-eight, but when he stands on his wallet, he’s 7 feet tall. So Scott D’Amore, we’re not having any tag days here for Scott D’Amore, no food stamps. If he lost his job, I don’t shed a tear because I don’t shed a tear for multi-millionaires, who now’s just gonna play more golf. Scott’s a smart guy but I mean, you know, no tears here so, but I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know.”

What Callis may also not know is that D’Amore is using that one-foot-four-inch thick wallet to likely relaunch Maple Leaf Wrestling as the name was just trademarked by D’Amore and “The Gimmick Attorney” Mike Dockins.

D’Amore was one of the primary proponents for getting the TNA brand back off the ground. Not only that, but it was evident D’Amore was greatly loved behind-the-scenes as many TNA talents wrote out a petition to bring D’Amore back after he was let go.

WCW Star Set To Return To The Ring At MLW Battle Riot

0

MLW will have a blast from the past when the promotion heads down to WCW country in Atlanta, Georgia.

Battle Riot VI will take place this June and the event is typically full of unexpected surprises and entrants into MLW’s annual 40-man match, but one man who won’t be a surprise will be Ernest “The Cat” Miller. The MLW website announced that the former WCW commissoner will be making his league debut in the bout and they were certain to give Miller the appropriate hype in build for the big bout on June 1.

Somebody call his Momma! WCW legend and Karate Hall of Famer, Ernest “The Cat” Miller is the third participant to enter the 2024 Battle RIOT in Atlanta! A showman and striker with fury and finesse, Miller will make his MLW debut in the biggest match of MLW. Known for his cat-like reflexes, this martial artist aims to pounce on the competition and leap ahead in line for a title shot anytime, anywhere. To achieve that, “The Cat” will have to outlast 39 other participants.

Miller happened to make his in-ring return back in March at the WCPBTW The Reunion 3: Cavalcade Of Legends where he got the win against Marvelous. Before that however, “The Cat” didn’t unleash his claws on the canvas since 2022 when he took on Joey Janela.

MLW has had quite the list of unexpected names in previous Battle Riots. Names like Dan Severn, Raven, and Duke Droese all entered in the fray in previous years.

Battle Riot blends the Royal Rumble with extra battle royal rules. Not only can you be eliminated by being thrown over the top, but you can also lose via pin or submission.

Kevin Owens’ WWE Contract Expires In 9 Months And He’s Not Sure What Comes Next

0

Kevin Owens’ current deal with WWE runs out in a matter of few months – nine months to be precise. The former World champion recently got fans’ attention when he was not-committal about competing at future WrestleMania events. During an interview with Alistair McGeorge for Metro, Kevin Owens revealed  WWE contract expires in nine months, which puts us around late January/early February 2025. As things currently stand, he’s not certain that he’ll remain a WWE Superstar by WrestleMania 41.

“I really don’t take anything for granted, I’ve nine months left on my contract, and I don’t know what can happen from here on out,” Owens revealed.

Unbreakable Bonds

As he faces this uncertainty, the Canadian grappler can’t help but mourn the loss of the dear friends he’s lost along the way, including Brodie Lee, Bray Wyatt, Jay Briscoe.

“That’s just life,” Owens said. “If I’ve learned anything over the last few years, it’s that nothing is guaranteed. I’ve learned that through some very unfortunate events, we’ve lost so many good people that was never expected. That’s just one example of how I do not take anything for granted, how I look at things now.”

Owens has been a part of the WWE roster for a decade. During that time, he’s developed unbreakable bonds with his peers and has a hard time thinking about these people not being part of his life anymore.

“This has been my home for 10 years and it’s beyond the locker room. There’s some very, very, very special people that work behind the scenes that I’ve become very close with, and I really can’t imagine not seeing them as part of my life.”

Former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman took notice of the possibility of Owens becoming a free agent next year.

KO teamed up with Randy Orton and faced The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga) in a losing effort at WWE Backlash: France this past weekend. The match featured the WWE debut of Tanga Loa, Tama’s brother, who interfered and assisted The Bloodline to win.

WWE Contracts: World Champions Re-Sign

There had been concerns regarding the contract renewal of a handful of top wrestlers. Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and Finn Balor most recently inked new deals with WWE. However, alongside Kevin Owens, other superstars such as Becky Lynch and LA Knight’s future remains up in the air as they are yet to sign a new contract. Here’s some of our recent coverage of WWE contracts:

Daily Drop (5/6): Members Of Uncle Howdy’s New Stable Revealed, Kevin Owens’ WWE Contract Status

0

It’s time for the Daily Drop on May 6, and there is a lot to get into. It’s Monday, and the company has a packed episode of RAW planned for fans. You also never know what will break to start off the week.

Although Minneapolis thought they would get the hosting duties for WrestleMania 41, they were mistaken. Las Vegas will host the show of shows on April 20 and 21 instead. It was later reported that WWE’s new ownership decided to make the decision to pivot toward the new Vegas location.

Let’s get into today’s Daily Drop!

WWE:

WWE RAW Card for 5/6:

  • King of the Ring: Gunther vs. Sheamus
  • King of the Ring: Drew McIntyre vs. Finn Balor
  • King of the Ring: Kofi Kingston vs. Rey Mysterio
  • King of the Ring: Ricochet vs. Ilja Dragunov
  • Queen of the Ring: Zoey Stark vs. Ivy Nile
  • Queen of the Ring: Shayna Bazsler vs. Zelina Vega
  • Queen of the Ring: Lyra Valkyria vs. Asuka
  • Queen of the Ring: Iyo Sky vs. Natalya

Kevin Owens’ WWE Contract: While in France, Kevin Owens spoke to Alistair McGeorge of Metro and revealed that he has nine months left on his current WWE deal.

I really don’t take anything for granted, I’ve (got) nine months left on my contract, and I don’t know what can happen from here on out.

That’s just life. If I’ve learned anything over the last few years, it’s that nothing is guaranteed. I’ve learned that through some very unfortunate events. We’ve lost so many good people that was never expected.

That’s just one example of how I do not take anything for granted, how I look at things now.

New Stable Coming: A new stable is coming to WWE television, and that is why QR codes have been popping up. Currently, four individuals are set to join the new Uncle Howdy faction, which is yet to be named. These include Nikki Cross, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and Erick Rowan, who are all likely to become part of the new iteration of The Wyatt Family. Each has previous experience in different factions: Cross was part of Sanity, Gacy led The Schism, Lumis was a member of The Way, and Rowan was an original member of The Wyatt Family.

CM Stuck: After the WWE Backlash kickoff show, CM Punk stuck around the WWE Headquarters for a bit longer than he initially planned. The Second City Savior was locked in the building, and this opened the door for him to post a slew of entertaining Instagram updates. You may check out a super cut of his experience in the post below.

AEW:

Bad News For Fenix: Rey Fenix was scheduled to participate in House of Glory Wrestling’s Cinco de Mayo event on May 5 in Jamaica, New York, where he was set to compete against Pentagon Jr. in a brother versus brother match. However, the anticipated matchup did not take place. During the event, Pentagon Jr. announced that Fenix was not medically cleared to wrestle, disappointing fans who were looking forward to the bout.

Ric Flair Ejected: Flair, who is now with AEW, claims he had a bad night. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer had spent $1,500 at the establishment and took photos with the staff. Flair claims he was then asked to leave due to an issue with the kitchen manager, who, according to Flair, was taking too long in the kitchen.

Ethan Page Speaks: Although Ethan Page left AEW, he still sold merchandise for them. He brought up how his AEW action figure sold out after his departure in a new video. He is a top seller for AEW on Ringside Collectibles, and he wants to stay there for as long as possible. It’s worth checking out, and you may find that below.

Cameron Grimes’ First Appearance Announced Post-WWE Release

0

Former WWE wrestler Cameron Grimes (Trevor Lee) is returning to wrestling in July.

Grimes has a 90-day no-compete clause as he was released from WWE last month. On April 23, the former Million Dollar Champion posted an emotional video on social media and informed his fans that he was let go from the company. However, he is all set to make his first appearance after the release.

Elevation Pro Wrestling has announced on X that Cameron Grimes, who has switched back to his old ring name, Trevor Lee will be making an appearance at the promotion’s Homecoming event on July 27.

Grimes was among the list of recently released wrestlers that included Jinder Mahal, Sanga, Veer Mahan, Xyon Quinn, Xia Li and Von Wagner. It also came to light that the former NXT North American Champion’s release took the roster by surprise.

Cameron Grimes’ WWE career

Grimes had signed with WWE back in 2019 and had a successful run in the company’s developmental brand, NXT. He soon captured the NXT North American title and also won the Million Dollar Championship. He received a main roster call-up in May last year but he had a lackluster run. After being part of last year’s WWE Draft, Grimes joined SmackDown but was only featured a handful of times. His last match for the company took place on April 12 episode of SmackDown where he was squashed by Bron Breakker.

According to reports, many didn’t see Grimes’ release coming as his skill set transcended other wrestlers who were on the list. The 30-year-old wrestler was noted to be improving and was quite ‘over’ in NXT. Though he was not featured often on WWE TV, he was still a regular at the live events.

Cameron Grimes’ WWE release surprised some in the company. He was disappointed, but not entirely surprised. The grappler from Cameron, North Carolina says he felt the writing was on the wall when he was given the ‘To The Moon’ crypto-investor gimmick in NXT.

Rey Fenix Pulled From Event Mere Days After Return to the Ring From Lengthy Injury

0

AEW’s Rey Fenix is dealing with yet another setback after being pulled from an event shortly after returning from a lengthy hiatus from the ring.

Fenix was scheduled to compete at House of Glory Wrestling’s Cinco de Mayo event on May 5 in Jamaica, New York. Fenix has been set to face Pentagon Jr. in a brother vs. brother showdown.

Unfortunately for fans excited to see the pair face off, that match didn’t happen. During the show, Pentagon Jr. shared that Fenix was not medically cleared to wrestle.

https://twitter.com/PuroresuFlow/status/1787239956143820925

Instead of Fenix, Pentagon faced Laredo Kid. In the show’s main event, Penta defeated the TNA Wrestling Digital Media Champion in non-title action. No more information was given at the show as to why Fenix was not cleared to wrestle.

Fenix not being medically cleared is the latest setback for the talented former AEW International Champion. Fenix made his return to the ring on the April 27, edition of AEW Collision with a victory over The Beast Mortos. Prior to this, Fenix had missed six months of action due to injuries in his back and/or hip which caused great discomfort to the AEW star.

Rey Fenix in All Elite Wrestling

After his return on last month’s episode of AEW Collision, Fenix said he was better than ever, which has made his being pulled from HOG Wrestling’s event all the more unfortunate. He also missed months of action due to an injury in 2022 and also spent much of 2020 on the shelf.  We at SE Scoops would like to wish Fenix a very speedy recovery.

More AEW Injuries

Fenix is sadly not the only All-Elite talent to have been bitten by the proverbial injury bug. Former AEW TBS Champion Julia Hart recently confirmed reports of an injury and is set to undergo surgery if she hasn’t already. Adam Cole continues to be out of action due to the leg injury suffered last year but has been able to appear on TV. Anthony Henry suffered a broken jaw before his recent release from AEW but Tony Khan has plans to bring Henry back once he is healed.
