Undertaker Explains Vince McMahon’s Decision to Pass on Dream Match with Sting

0

Pro wrestling fans have got to see a lot of dream matches over the years. Sadly, they can’t all happen, and that included Sting vs The Undertaker. Although there was a window of time when the match could have seen the light of day, Vince McMahon simply never booked it.

The Undertaker explained that the match between him and Sting never happened due to Vince McMahon not seeing it as a fit for WWE, despite fan anticipation. By the time Sting arrived, Calaway felt he was nearing the end of his career, and the timing didn’t align for the matchup.

Why Sting vs The Undertaker Never Happened

During his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker opened up a bit about why that legendary dream match against Sting didn’t happen. It seems that it was all Vince McMahon’s call, and he never went that direction.

In discussing why he never faced Sting, Mark Calaway mentioned that the opportunity simply didn’t materialize. Despite the anticipation from fans and artwork depicting the potential matchup, Vince McMahon didn’t see it as a fit for WWE, and Calaway felt it wouldn’t live up to the high expectations. He noted that by the time Sting arrived, he was already nearing the end of his career, and the timing didn’t align for the match to happen.

“It just didn’t work out. He had a short run in WWE and Vince didn’t want it. For whatever reason, I don’t know what it was. He didn’t feel it. Everybody else was clamoring for this match for quite a few years. A year or two into that character change, I mean, people were already sending me artwork with the billboard or the poster. It just never worked out. The match would have been good, but I don’t think it would have lived up to the expectations that people have for it. People always think about things in a certain sense. I think they thought in their mind of Undertaker, 2007 or 2008 versus Sting. It was later on than that. I can say I was way on the backside of what I was going to do when he got there.”

Sting vs The Undertaker in the Future

The Undertaker recently commented on how Sting retiring from in-ring competition “ruined” the idea of him coming back. It seems that a match against the Stinger is the only thing that could get The Phenom to wrestle again.

Only time will tell if Sting and The Undertaker ever share the ring for any reason. It would take a lot, but odds are we are years past the idea of that match ever going down for real.

The Reviews Are In: WWE Stars & Legends Praise Becky Lynch’s ‘The Man’ Memoir

0

Becky Lynch’s new memoir is proving to be a hit with WWE Superstars and legends alike with glowing reviews pouring in for the new book.

Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl is due to release later this month, and will tell the tale of how young Rebecca Quin became the internationally recognized WWE Superstar she is today. The book is 384 pages long.

The Reviews Are In

Lynch’s memoir will hit shelves on March 26 but some WWE stars have been able to get their hands on an advanced copy of the book. In reviews from Simon & Schuster Publishing WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was impressed with how well The Man writes about her life.

“Becky’s writing style is infectious and contagious. Just like her personality. From hard times and hard decisions, to changing the landscape of sports entertainment, the self-described ‘underdog’ has always been destined to do great things. I’m sure there is more to come.”

John Cena, somebody Lynch shared the ring with for a segment in 2018, believes the memoir shows the merits of a three-word mantra of his.

“Her authenticity allows us to feel her struggles and mature alongside her as the story unfolds… It might just be the new Underdog’s Guide to the Galaxy. A trailblazer, a groundbreaker and a great example of my 3 favorite words, Never Give Up.”

Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins said that the book shares plenty in common with its author.

“Effortlessly authentic, poignant without ever trying too hard, and a little rough around the edges—that’s my lovely wife, and it’s also her lovely book… Between being a full-time WWE Superstar, a full-time mother, and a GOAT life partner, my one and only somehow casually found the bandwidth to pen a perfect memoir…because of course she did.”

Mick Foley, who knows a thing or two about writing a gripping memoir, was very impressed with the tome.

“Becky Lynch: The Man is one of the finest wrestling books—or memoirs of any kind—I have had the pleasure to read… I am so glad she has chosen to share that voice and her remarkable life story with all of us.”

Stephanie McMahon is confident about how the book will fare once readers get their own copies.

Becky Lynch: The Man is the story of a remarkable woman who had the guts to put it all on the line… Becky Lynch defies every stereotype. The crowd loves her because she is vulnerable and real, and I have no doubt you will too!”

The Man at the White House

One person who may be reading the book soon is U.S. President Joe Biden. The Man was recently a guest at the White House as part of the recent St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Lynch even left a copy of her book in the White House, as she made clear with a tweet.

It’s fitting that Lynch was at the White House this past week as she’s been feeling a lot more American as of late. After this week’s Raw, Lynch had some big news to share with the WWE Universe.

Heartfelt Confession: Mandy Rose Reveals What She Misses About Pro Wrestling

0

WWE fans have been asking about Mandy Rose’s return to pro wrestling since the moment the company released her. Now, she is speaking on the subject, but it may require some patience for fans who want to see the former NXT Women’s Champion compete again.

Mandy Rose appreciates her current endeavors but admits to missing the adrenaline rush of wrestling. Reflecting on her time with Toxic Attraction, she expresses a desire to potentially return to the ring in the future. She also spoke about what she misses about the pro wrestling business, even though that itch to return full-time isn’t there.

Mandy Rose Speaks on Possible Pro Wrestling Return

Mandy Rose has seen significant developments in her career and personal life since leaving the company. Her departure was linked to content shared behind a premium paywall, but despite this setback, Rose has been thriving in her various endeavors. While she hasn’t competed in wrestling since her termination in 2022, Mandy Rose isn’t closing the door on a return.

While speaking to Jamal Niaz, Mandy said that she doesn’t have any itch to make a return to the ring right now. That being said, there are things about the business that she certainly misses.

”Today I will say there was a part of me when I was sitting in the ring doing the Q&A and all the fans were there, I do miss it I will say. I said in an interview not too long ago that I didn’t really have the itch, I don’t know if I have the itch to go back and wrestle full-time right now. However, I do miss the fans, I miss the camaraderie, I miss that adrenaline rush I’m doing a lot of amazing things.”

She acknowledges her current path with gratitude but admits to feeling a lack of excitement. Reflecting on her time with Toxic Attraction, she expresses some remorse for not fully seizing their potential. Despite this, she hasn’t ruled out a return to wrestling and remains open to the idea in the future, driven by a desire to fulfill any unfinished business and for the fans’ sake.

Mandy Rose’s Future Is Bright

We will have to see if Mandy Rose ever makes a return to pro wrestling. She is still making a ton of cash on her OnlyFans, so she does not need to return to pro wrestling at all. At this point, the only thing that would make Rose return is if she wants to wrestle, and fans are still waiting for that.

Mandy Rose still misses her fans, and interactions with the locker room. She is missed, and was a huge contributor to the NXT locker room during her time with the brand. Sadly, her run with the company ended abruptly. It seems that she is okay with how everything panned out at this point.

WWE Contract Quandary: Drew McIntyre Confirms Reports About His Uncertain Future

0

WWE has a lot of things going on, and contract situations always add a bit of intrigue to any situation. Drew McIntyre is on top of his game, comfortable, and able to perform at a high level every time he steps in the ring. The veteran performer’s future with WWE has a big question mark hovering over it at this point.

Drew McIntyre’s contract situation remains uncertain despite WWE reportedly extending it, adding intrigue to his upcoming WrestleMania 40 title match. McIntyre himself confirmed the ongoing speculation but remains focused on giving his all to WWE, emphasizing his intent to continue performing at his peak.

Drew McIntyre Speaks on WWE Contract Status

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre holds significant value within the company. However, recent updates on McIntyre’s contract status have stirred speculation, as while WWE reportedly extended his contract, there’s no confirmation of a new deal, fueling rumors of his potential departure.

With a World Heavyweight Championship match ahead of him at WrestleMania 40, McIntyre is in line for a huge match. That being said, no deal has been inked, so the result of the match may be a very interesting one.

McIntyre revealed on The Ringer’s Masked Men Show that the buzz about his contract status is legit. He has no new deal with WWE at this point, but he intends to continue giving everything he can to WWE because he’s having fun.

“It’s very important to me, having a new contract. It’s been talked about for a very long time on the internet. I’m not the only one whose contract comes up every few years or whatever, but you would think it, reading the internet. There is nothing I can say right now. I can say that I’m having fun. I can say that I intend to continue having fun and I’m in my prime. I’m younger than everyone thinks I am because I’ve been around for such a long time. I have years to go. No matter what, you’ll still see Drew McIntyre wrestling. I can say ‘or Drew Galloway’ and that would get everyone’s attention.”

Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk

Drew McIntryre’s constant jabs at CM Punk have led fans to assume that a new contract will be signed. After all, Punk is out of action with a triceps injury, and his return date isn’t expected until after McIntyre’s current deal expires.

Due to time off, WWE was able to extend McIntyre’s deal until after WrestleMania 40. At this time, it is unknown exactly how much time he has left, but one would assume that he wants that match against CM Punk.

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more, in the future. Keep checking back throughout the day for more updates and headlines for the stories you need.

Booker T Comes Clean: Claim Of ‘Run In’ With CM Punk Was “Just Playing Around”

0

WWE NXT commentator Booker T was just playing around when he claimed he had a run-in with CM Punk during a recent episode of the gold brand.

Booker claimed during a recent edition of his Hall of Fame podcast that he and Punk “almost got into it” when the Chicago-Made star attended the March 12, taping. Booker did not share details of what transpired but said he’d speak more on the matter at a later time.

Suspicions Arise

Immediately, suspicions arose regarding Booker’s claim of a backstage altercation with Punk. The ex-AEW star has been well-behaved since his return to WWE in November of last year and has been especially helpful with the WWE NXT roster.

Nobody on said roster, or anyone at the taping, could recall any confrontation between the two. Booker would also waste no time in downplaying the seriousness of this alleged altercation.

Booker T Comes Clean

On the most recent edition of his podcast, Booker T shared the truth about this so-called altercation with Punk. Booker admitted that he wasn’t exactly being honest when he claimed there was a ‘run in’ with the Raw Superstar.

“I’m trying to entertain my fans… Because that story, that 40-second story that people wrote, it was clickbait, guys.

“Did I put it out there? Did I say it? As far as I had a beef, I was gonna run up? Yeah, I said [it] But I’m entertaining you guys. Entertaining. Just playing around.”

Booker’s (Real) Run-In

While two backstage altercations would ultimately doom CM Punk’s AEW run, Booker is hardly faultless when it comes to trouble backstage. In 2006, Booker and Batista had a legitimate fistfight at a SummerSlam commercial shoot.

The issues between them seemed to stem from Batista suggesting that he was superior to Booker (and others on the roster) because of his quick rise to the top of WWE. The fight left both men bloodied, according to sources at the time.

What’s Next?

When not making up stuff for his podcast, Booker can be found behind the desk as an NXT commentator and will continue to call the action at WWE NXT, including at the Stand & Deliver show that’ll take place on April 6.

CM Punk will be on the March 25, episode of WWE Raw that will take place in his hometown of Chicago, IL. Punk has also vowed that he’ll be at WrestleMania 40, even if he’s not invited.

When WWE Started Having FOX Approve Scripts To Prepare For Profanity

0

WWE has to keep a lot of things in mind when they are producing live television. The words that talent say on the microphone can get heated, but they shouldn’t get profane. That changed for a couple promos in recent memory.

Dave Meltzer confirmed that there was a memo sent out to everyone regarding using profanities in promos. Cody Rhodes was allowed to use profanity to maintain his babyface persona, because he had to fire back at The Rock’s recent promo.

Why Cody Could Swear

Cody Rhodes took the microphone this week on WWE RAW, and he had a lot to say. He dropped a few profanities that the company isn’t allowing on their shows anymore. There is a good reason why Rhodes got to swear, because he was answering The Rock.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that there was indeed a memo circulated to everyone, confirming the situation regarding Cody Rhodes’ promo. Despite the memo, Rhodes was given the opportunity to deliver the promo with profanity because WWE wanted to maintain his babyface persona. This decision aimed to prevent Rhodes from appearing negatively compared to The Rock, who had a successful promo the previous week.

No, there was a memo. Everyone got it. I asked, “What was the deal? And it’s like, they knew that he [Rhodes] had to come back. But there’s absolutely a memo. I got that from several different guys, there’s been other reporters who have too. That’s not nothing. No one else is allowed to do that. But he was given the opportunity to do it because basically they wanted him to stay babyface, essentially. And I mean, if he came off badly on this promo and Rock came off so great in Memphis (last week’s SmackDown), it’s like, that’s not what they want. But he was fine. You know, he brought his dog in. I mean, it’s like, that’s all it is.”

The Rock raised a bit of controversy when he was allowed to drop profanities in his promos on television, and even more online, after WWE sent out a memo telling talent to cut out the language. Since he’s The Rock, then he can get away with a lot more.

When WWE Started Approving Scripts (Exclusive)

It was later reported that The Rock can get away with so many profanities because WWE sends the scripts into FOX for approval beforehand. Therefore, they know what dirty words are coming, and the bleep button is ready.

I was told by a tenured member of the creative team that, “We only started giving FOX The Rock’s promos in advance this week after they went to total blackness every time he cursed last time.”

WWE’s Memo About Profanities

I exclusively reported that Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, Dan Ventrelle sent out a memo “the other week” about how talent needs to adhere to PG guidelines on TV and also on social media. The Rock, like most things in his life at this point, is getting a bit of special treatment, and he got to say whatever he wanted to, regardless of guidelines.

There was an idea that a double standard is going around when it comes to promos. Now, it appears that Cody Rhodes is allowed to loosen up with the profanities as well.

Jack Perry is Still With AEW But Tony Khan Remains “Really Mad” Over All In 2023 Brawl

0

Jack Perry is still with AEW, despite what may have been suggested, but fans should not expect to see him any time soon.

Perry last appeared for AEW at All In 2023, where he lost the FTW Championship to Hook. This match, like much of the show, was overshadowed by the backstage confrontation Perry had with CM Punk. Their fight led to both men being suspended from AEW and Punk ultimately being released following his second suspension in less than a year. Punk has since gone on to return to WWE.

Jack Perry Outside AEW

At NJPW Battle in the Valley 2024, Perry made a stunning appearance, his first in any wrestling company since AEW All In. Perry, clad in a “scapegoat” armband, tore up an AEW contract. This was a surprise to everyone, including the security. Guards at Battle in the Valley first thought Perry was a fan entering the ring, but were quickly told this was part of the show.

Jack Perry’s Current Status.

Perry’s appearance at the NJPW show understandably led many to believe his time with AEW had ended. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave some clarification on Perry’s current status. The former FTW Champion is still with AEW but is simply not being used.

Meltzer added that Tony Khan is still “really mad” at Perry over what transpired at AEW All In. The general gist of things is that Perry cost AEW CM Punk, who for his issues in AEW, is one of the biggest names the company had on its roster. With Punk not around, the lion’s share of the blame has fallen on the former Jungle Boy.

Has Tony Khan Gone Too Far?

Meltzer argued that Perry should have been suspended for a month or two and then brought back to programming. Instead, we are now seven months into Perry’s absence from AEW programming. Meltzer said that the punishment for Perry doesn’t fit the ‘crime’ he committed last August in Wembley.

0

Welcome to SEScoops: the Daily Drop, your go-to for the latest news and rumors in wrestling for Tuesday, March 19. Yesterday saw some big headlines, and today will be another big one on the road to WrestleMania. Let’s get right into today’s Daily Drop!

Days until WrestleMania 40: 18

Bray Wyatt’s upcoming documentary, Bray Wyatt: Becoming Immortal, will drop on April 1st. WWE made the official announcement yesterday, and fans should expect quite a presentation for that passion project.

WWE:

– Becky Lynch is now a U.S. citizen. She made that big announcement after WWE RAW this week.

Raquel Rodriguez was pulled from the active WWE roster due to her Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

– Cody Rhodes cut a pretty profane promo on RAW this week. He said a ton of words that other members of the roster are not.

CM Punk claims he will be at WrestleMania, even if he’s not invited.

Nikkita Lyons said that she hopes to have her current injury situation cleared up by November so she can make an in-ring return.

WWE NXT Card for 3/19:

  • Roxanne Perez vs. Tatum Paxley
  • Sol Ruca vs. Brinley Reece
  • Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger
  • Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs. No Quarter Catch Crew
  • One member of No Quarter Catch Crew vs. Riley Osborne for the Heritage Cup
  • Trick Williams vs. Noam Dar
  • NXT North American Champion Oba Femi speaks.

AEW:

Matt Hardy and Reby Hardy were at WWE RAW this week in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Dustin Rhodes announced two more members of the Rhodes Family will start their pro wrestling journeys very soon.

– Speaking of Dustin Rhodes, he also had quite a message for The Rock during Raw this week. He dropped a short video on Twitter/X, where he simply said “F*ck The Rock.”

March 20 will see AEW Dynamite and Rampage air a three-hour block. There will be no Collision on March 23 due to NCAA March Madness.

Upcoming Major Pro Wrestling Events:

  • WWE NXT Stand & Deliver is slated for the afternoon of April 6th, just before the start of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
  • WrestleMania XL is set to take place on April 6th and 7th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a two-part event.

  • Backlash France is scheduled for May 4th at LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, France.

How Did Cody Rhodes Get Away with Expletive Promo on 3/18 WWE Raw?

0

WWE was willing to make a special exception for Cody Rhodes on the March 18, episode of Raw, given his high-profile ongoing war of words with The Rock.

During the show, Rhodes held nothing back in his scathing comments about The Bloodline’s newest member. Rhodes, dressed in an all-dark suit, dubbed the Brahma Bull an “asshole” and added that the Hollywood megastar is deep down a “little b*tch!” Still not finished, Rhodes said that The Rock will have a case of LDS (Little d*ck syndrome) when WrestleMania 40 comes around.

Cody Rhodes on WWE Raw

Cody’s comments shocked fans given WWE’s recent memo reminding talent about the importance of adhering to PG guidelines. This memo has led to some in WWE feeling frustrated, believing that The Rock, who has been cursing up a storm on social media, should be forced to play by the same rules as everyone else in WWE.

The apparent double standard between The Rock and the full-time roster is hard to ignore. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that there had been a memo. It was stressed that WWE realized that Rhodes had to have something big on Raw in rebuttal to Rock’s expletive-laden promos fans have been seeing regularly.

“They knew that he [Rhodes] had to come back… [Cody] was given the opportunity to do it because they wanted him to stay babyface… if he came off badly on this promo and Rock came off so great in Memphis, that’s not what they want.”

What’s Next?

Rhodes & The Rock will be on opposing sides of a tag-team match that will almost certainly headline WrestleMania 40: Saturday. The next night, Rhodes will challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. This will be Cody’s final opportunity at Reigns, a stipulation made by the Brahma Bull.

Rhodes and Reigns will come face-to-face on the March 22, episode of WWE SmackDown. Paul Heyman has promised that no Bloodline members other than himself and Reigns will be there, as long as Cody shows up to the confrontation alone.

USA! Becky Lynch Reveals She’s Now An American Citizen After 3/18 WWE Raw (Video)

0

Becky Lynch had quite the night at this week’s Monday Night Raw as she had some huge news to share after the show went off the air.

In the main event of Raw, Lynch defeated Nia Jax in a Last Woman’s Standing match. Both competitors held nothing back in the violent match that marked one of the few singles matches between the two. In the closing moments of the match, Lynch dove off a ladder and drove Jax through the announce table with a leg drop to get the win.

After the match, Lynch was confronted by WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. The two will face off at WWE WrestleMania 40 next month.

After Raw went off the air, Lynch had some big news to share with the fans. The first Irish-born female champion in WWE revealed that as of a few hours ago, Becky Lynch officially became a citizen of the United States of America.

All American

The news that Becky Lynch officially became an American citizen on Monday takes on even greater significance with the context that she was at the White House just 24 hours earlier hanging out with President Joe Biden.

Politics are very divisive these days, but we can all agree the President of the United States inviting The Man to the White House is pretty cool and a win for wrestling.

Wrestlers who are as successful as Lynch are masters of self-promotion and she’s no exception. She brought a special gift to her visit to the White House – a copy of her upcoming book, Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Girl – now available for pre-order at Amazon and is due to release on March 26, 2024.

Lynch has been living in the U.S. for over a decade now and spent time living in New York. She later moved to Florida upon signing with WWE in order to be close to the Performance Center.

Full Match: Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax

WWE has uploaded the complete Last Woman Standing Match between Lynch and Nia Jax from the March 18, 2024 edition of WWE RAW. This was as hard-hitting as anything we’ve seen on WWE television this year and the women proved once again that they’re more than capable of closing out a show.

Women In Main Events

Becky Lynch is one of a few women in WWE history who can say they’ve competed in the main event of a WrestleMania.

Nia Jax recently headlined the WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 premium live event against reigning Women’s World champion, Rhea Ripley. Jax was not victorious, but spoke about how much that experience meant to her:

Nic Nemeth Vs. Alberto El Patron Set For Vacant AAA Mega Title At TripleMania XXXII Monterrey

0

A battle of former WWE Superstars will culminate with either Nic Nemeth or Alberto El Patron emerging as the next AAA Mega Champion next month.

The title was recently vacated by El Hijo del Vikingo, who boasted the records for the longest individual reign and for the most title defenses. Vikingo, who also appears for AEW, gave up the gold after suffering a leg injury last month which resulted in that night’s match ending abruptly.

New AAA Mega Champion

In an announcement, AAA confirmed that El Patron, who won a spot in the upcoming title match via winning a three-way, will face Nic Nemeth. Their match will go down at AAA TripleMania XXXII which will take place on April 27. The show will take place from the Mobil Super Stadium and will serve as the first of three TripleMania events this year.

Nemeth Vs. Patron

Though they’ve yet to face off under their current names, Nic Nemeth and Alberto El Patron are no strangers. The pair feuded in 2013 after Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Patron (then Alberto Del Rio.) The World Heavyweight Championship win is still considered one of the best Money in the Bank cash-ins in the 19-year history of the concept.

The pair’s feud would also see the rarely-seen ‘double turn’ during their title match at Payback that same year. The intensity and underhanded tactics of Del Rio would turn him heel while Ziggler’s resilience in the face of adversity turned him face in the process.

Matt Hardy At Raw: AEW Star & Wife Reby Attended 3/18 Show in Raleigh, NC

0

Matt Hardy has been a part of the AEW roster for years, but that didn’t stop the veteran and his wife Reby from enjoying this week’s WWE Monday Night Raw in person.

During the show, Michael Cole made reference to Matt’s WrestleMania 25 showdown with his brother Jeff. This was segue into the upcoming brother vs. brother match that’ll see Jimmy and Jey Uso face off at WrestleMania 40.

On Instagram, Reby Hardy made clear that she was aware to Cole’s reference to her husband and brother-in-law. Reby, who has worked with her husband in the wrestling business, revealed that both she and Matt were at Raw and seemingly had a great time.

Matt Hardy’s AEW Status

Earlier this month, it was reported that Hardy’s AEW deal will come to an end very soon. There have been discussions between the two sides about a new deal, though it is unclear as to how far those talks are, or how likely it is that a deal will be reached.

Matt Hardy in AEW

Matt joined AEW in 2020 but his in-ring time has been very limited as of late. After competing 37 times for AEW in 2023, Hardy has had just one match for the promotion in 2024. That bout came on the January 5, episode of Rampage and saw the Hardy Boyz and Mark Briscoe defeat Kip Sabian, the Butcher, and the Blade. His most recent pay-per-view victory saw the Hardys and Hook defeat the Gunns and Ethan Page at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 last May.

Paul Heyman Shares Apocalypse Now Inspiration Behind Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief Character

0

Marlon Brando’s incredible performance as Col. Walter Kurtz helped inspire Roman Reigns to be the Tribal Chief, Paul Heyman has revealed.

In 2020, Reigns turned heel and aligned himself with Paul Heyman, a move that ironically made the Shield alum the most popular he’d been in years. Since then, Reigns has dominated WWE as Universal Champion, a title he unified with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 in 2022. Reigns is currently closing in on 1,300 days as Universal Champion.

Roman Reigns & Apocalypse Now

Reigns hasn’t just dominated WWE’s roster, but has dominated his family as the ‘Tribal Chief.’ In a recent talk at the BSM Summit, Heyman spoke about Reigns and the Hollywood inspiration behind his character.

“I had Roman Reigns watch ‘Apocalypse Now’ multiple times. To me, that was the heart and soul of the character of the Tribal Chief. A warrior so great that he conquered his own island.”

The 1979 film sees Marlon Brando portray Colonel Walter Kurtz, a U.S. military powerhouse who has gone mad and now leads his own tribe deep in the Cambodian jungle. In the interview, Heyman compared Reigns to Brando’s gripping rendition of the character.

“Brando presented himself as a pseudo-God. We call it a Tribal Chief. ..That’s where the villainry of Roman Reigns comes in because he says ‘Acknowledge me,’ and [at] once you acknowledge him.”

What’s Next?

If Reigns is indeed the Col. Kurtz of WWE, his reign of terror may be coming to an end. The film ends with Kurtz being killed by Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) at the behest of the U.S. government.  Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.

CM Punk: I’ll Be At WWE WrestleMania 40, Even if I’m Not Invited

0

WWE Raw Superstar CM Punk can’t compete due to a torn triceps injury, but that won’t keep him from having a role at WrestleMania 40 next month.

CM Punk has been out of action since the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, in which he suffered his injury. This is the latest injury setback for Punk, who was taken out of action in 2022 during his AEW run after suffering an injury while diving to the fans. Punk would suffer a triceps tear during his AEW All Out match with Jon Moxley that same year.

CM Punk at WWE WrestleMania 40

Punk had hoped to headline WrestleMania this year; an accolade missing from the Best in the World’s impressive career. Punk not headlining WrestleMania 28 in favor of The Rock Vs. John Cena was alluded to during a segment between Punk and Cody Rhodes, with the Chicago-Made star hinting that Rock would replace Rhodes as the main eventer of WrestleMania 40.

On this week’s Raw, a video aired hyping up Punk’s return to WWE programming which will come on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Chicago, IL. During this video, Punk addressed his WrestleMania status. The former WWE & AEW World Champion vowed that he would be at WrestleMania 40, even if he isn’t formally invited.

CM Punk’s Cancelled Plans

Punk was initially planned to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. Instead, the World Heavyweight Champion will defend against Drew McIntyre. Punk was also scheduled for a role at last month’s WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 event, which also had to be scrapped due to his injury.

Final Boss: The Rock Confirms Role on Go-Home WWE Raw Before WrestleMania 40

0

The Rock will be part of the final episode of Monday Night Raw ahead of WrestleMania 40, as confirmed by the TKO Board member himself this week.

Taking to Twitter, The Rock vowed that he will electrify when he appears on the April 1, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. The Bloodline’s newest member also encouraged fans to “sit back” and “enjoy the ride” that he is taking the WWE Universe on.

Plans for The Rock

There’s no confirmation as to what The Rock will be doing on the go-home Raw ahead of WrestleMania 40. At the two-night Premium Live Event, Rock will team with Roman Reigns to face Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes. Should The Bloodline win, then the following night’s Undisputed WWE Universal title match between Rhodes & Reigns will be under ‘Bloodline Rules.’ If Cody and Seth emerge on top, there will be no Bloodline involvement with the WrestleMania 40: Sunday main event.

The Rock After WrestleMania

The Rock will have a huge role to play at WrestleMania, but there have been questions as to will be next for him after April 7. It is believed within WWE that the upcoming tag-team match will not be the Brahma Bull’s last time competing in WWE. Many are still hopeful to see The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns, a match initially penciled in for WrestleMania before the fan backlash and ‘We Want Cody’ movement led to WWE changing course.

As to when that match will take place is something of a mystery. The Rock will be filming for ‘The Smashing Machine’ from May to August of this year which will mean he can’t compete in WWE. Options for when Rock Vs. Reigns could take place include SummerSlam (though it seems unlikely), WWE’s second Saudi show of 2024 or WrestleMania 41.

Last week, Josh Barnett revealed that, in a rare GCW-WWE crossover, Shayna Baszler will be in action at the upcoming Bloodsport X showcase on April 4. Per usual, this event will once again take place in the midst of the WrestleMania 40 festivities, specifically as a part of the GCW Collective.

Coming off this major announcement, several GCW talents raised interest in facing Baszler. Ultimately, only one would be offered this opportunity. And after delivering a compelling pitch, we now know that the lucky talent is none other than “The Russian Dynamite” Masha Slamovich.

‘The Russian Dynamite’ Prepares To Meet ‘The Queen of Spades’

Upon confirming Slamovich as Baszler’s Bloodsport opponent, Josh Barnett also released footage of Slamovich’s impassioned message to her on X.

While Baszler may be in a different company right now, Slamovich asserted that they both have been seeking out the same thing — fresh competition (or prey, rather). As such, Slamovich believes it only fitting that they fulfill their hunger in a one-on-one matchup at Bloodsport.

“I know that you are the Disciple of the Warmaster, that you are the Queen of Spades, but guess what? You have never seen a competitor so hungry,”  Slamovich said to Baszler. “You’ve never ever been in the ring with somebody like the Russian Dynamite, somebody who’s clawed their way through Bloodsport, someone who’s clawed their way to the very heights of GCW, to the very height of the indies, holding gold around the world.”

“So while these days count down to Bloodsport, I hope you’re training. I hope you’re ready, because I’m hungry and there’s nothing, there’s no body who can stop me, not even you.”

In addition to Baszler, Bloodsport X will also mark the GCW of Nic Nemeth (formerly Dolph Ziggler), who is slated to take on “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a first-time matchup. Josh Barnett will be in action as well as he battles Johnny Bloodsport (John Morrison).

The Rhodes Family Legacy in Pro Wrestling

The Rhodes family has left a lasting impact on professional wrestling, with several generations contributing to the industry’s history.

From Dusty Rhodes, who was known as “The American Dream,” to his sons Cody and Dustin Rhodes, each member has played a pivotal role in shaping wrestling’s landscape.

Cody Rhodes, of course, is a top babyface in WWE right now. Known as The American Nightmare, he is still fighting to finish his story, and claim the title that alluded his father for years.

Their legacy spans decades, marked by memorable matches, iconic moments, and a dedication to the craft that continues to inspire future generations. Now, we know that the Rhodes Family’s legacy will continue with the Texas Outlaws.

The Rhodes Wrestling Academy

Dustin Rhodes has not left AEW, but he still operates his own wrestling academy. Now, his family will have a chance to get some great experience in the ring as two more entrants in the Rhodes Legacy start their journeys.

The Rhodes Wrestling Academy, founded in 2020 in Leander, Texas, is led by head trainer Dustin Rhodes and is poised for future success. For further details, you may visit this link.

Cody Rhodes Lights Up WWE Raw With Explicit Profanity-Filled Promo Directed at The Rock

0

On WWE RAW this week, Cody Rhodes stirred controversy with his explicit language directed at The Rock, questioning his heel status. He also didn’t tone down his language much, which didn’t really fit with WWE’s PG guidelines.

Cody Rhodes took the microphone on WWE RAW with profane remarks directed at The Rock, questioning his status as a heel and insulting him with explicit language. Despite WWE’s PG guidelines, Cody’s use of profanity has sparked discussion about a potential double standard regarding promos. It seems that The Rock isn’t the only one who can use a potty mouth on live television nowadays.

Cody’s Potty Mouth on WWE RAW

Cody Rhodes started his promo out this week by saying that he doesn’t think The Rock is a heel. He said, “you’re not a heel, you’re an asshole.” That was a pretty big profanity to drop, but he wasn’t finished by a long shot.

Later on, the American Nightmare said that The Rock was a “little bitch,” as he made reference to how Dwayne Johnson “cried” to the TKO board after his WrestleMania match against Roman Reigns fell apart due to fan backlash.

Cody said that The Rock will have a case of LDS when WrestleMania 40 comes around. He clarified that this meant “little d*ck syndrome.” That also got an “LDS” chant going from the crowd.

Then Cody capped everything off by saying that The Rock is just going to be “Roman’s side chick” at Mania. It was quite a promo, and a fitting answer to The Rock’s many jabs at the former AEW EVP.

Paul Heyman came out after that, and the two started a back-and-forth promo that was rather uneventful. They set up this week’s SmackDown, but Cody didn’t let loose on any more four-letter words after the Wise Man came out to slow him down.

It was later said that The Rock can get away with so many profanities because WWE sends the scripts into FOX for approval beforehand. Therefore, they know what dirty words are coming, and the bleep button is ready.

Nikkita Lyons Shares Return Timetable Update Following ACL and Meniscus Injury

0

WWE’s NXT brand houses Superstars of tomorrow, and few have drummed up as much hype from the internet as Nikkita Lyons. Sadly, Lyons was injured not long after she made her return from an even longer injury hiatus.

Lyons, as she fights to make her way back to the ring and avoid an injury prone stigma, already has a return date in her crosshairs. She recently revealed that she expects to be back by Halloween.

Lyons Speaks on her NXT Return

Nikkita Lyons offered a recovery update following injury setbacks. This will give her fans a good sign that things might turn around for her by the end of the year.

In January 2023, Lyons faced a torn ACL and meniscus, leading to an extended absence. Despite returning to NXT on December 5, she hasn’t competed since a loss to Blair Davenport on January 9, 2024. Recent reports noted Lyons’ ongoing injury concerns, although details remain unspecified.

While speaking with Booker T on his The Hall of Fame, Nikkita Lyons was asked to provide an update on her timeline. She has Halloween on her mind.

“It’s been two months since my surgery, and honestly, I feel like these two months went pretty quick, at least for me, because run on the grind every day. But right now, I’m hoping by Halloween Havoc. I’m hoping that’ll be a good time. But also I want to make sure…it should be ready to go. But I don’t want to say an exact, you know, like, ‘It’s gonna be here,’ because with injuries, it’s kind of day by day. Going back to the out of sight, I’m gonna stay active. I’m not going nowhere.”

“I ain’t going nowhere. That’s why I’m shoving myself in y’all face. Y’all are not gonna see this brick house blow down. That’s where I’m at, and that’s where I cross into my music and different forms of art that I can do, still talking to the people, being involved, going to these community events and charity events, like I ain’t going nowhere. I’m just gonna continue to improve in every other way I can until I can step in the squared circle again,”

What’s Next For Nikkita Lyons

WWE’s NXT brand usually holds a Halloween Havoc event every year. Only time will tell if Nikkita Lyons can roar her way back to the company’s developmental brand by that point.

If anything, she may not be seen on the USA Network again if her return stretches into November 2024. The brand is moving to the CW in November this year as part of their new television deal.

Rey Mysterio To Take On Santos Escobar Before WrestleMania

0

The feud between Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar may be coming to a boiling point even before WrestleMania 40.

Escobar took on Dragon Lee on the 3/15 episode of WWE SmackDown and got a quick victory against the young star, but the Legado Del Fantasma leader wasn’t done. He along with Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza aimed to unleash a beatdown on Lee before Carlito came out to even the odds.

Not long after, Mysterio ran down and set up Escobar for the 619, but Santos slid out before it could be done. Months ago, Santos stabbed Mysterio in the LWO in the back and Rey didn’t forget the pact he and Escobar once made.

“It was supposed to me and you together – familia! Let me give you what you want. How about next week: one-on-one, you and and me? And I promise you, [first spoken in Spanish] from the bottom of my heart, I will slap that stupd, arrogant smile off your face!”

WWE later confirmed the match, but Legado del Fantasma are already setting themeselves up for some sort of WrestleMania appearance.

Garza and Carillo happened to advance in the 6-Pack Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Tournament, defeating Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde but so did Catch New Republic against Pretty Deadly. Those teams fill out bracket one and another set of four teams will fill out bracket two next week. In addition to that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will meet face-to-face before they clash twice at WrestleMania.

AJ Styles Reveals How WWE Has Transformed Without Vince McMahon

0

Vince McMahon led WWE in his own way for decades. Things are much different now, as the company is operating in a much different way now. Triple H is calling the creative shots, and the change has been noticed throughout the business.

AJ Styles recently opened up about the change WWE experienced. While expressing his belief that WWE is no longer the same under Triple H’s guidance, Styles commended Triple H for his approach to talent development. He emphasized Triple H’s focus on nurturing talent and bringing out their best rather than highlighting their weaknesses, contrasting it with past practices under McMahon’s regime.

Changes in WWE

AJ Styles recently shared his thoughts on the evolution of talent treatment in WWE Styles appeared on The Battleground podcast, particularly under the leadership of Triple H compared to Vince McMahon’s tenure. According to Styles, there has been a noticeable shift in how wrestlers are perceived and valued within the company.

Reflecting on the emotional toll of talent releases, Styles conveyed empathy for performers whose careers were abruptly halted. He questioned the rationale behind releasing talent instead of providing them with opportunities to improve, advocating for a more supportive approach such as sending them back to NXT for further development.

“This isn’t the same WWE that Vince was in charge of,” Styles said during the interview. “I really believe that Triple H looks at our talent and goes, ‘Alright, let’s get them better or let’s find ways to bring out the best in them rather than show off the worst.'”

AJ Styles expressed his appreciation for Triple H’s approach to talent management in WWE, highlighting the shift in how wrestlers are valued compared to Vince McMahon’s era. Styles emphasized Triple H’s focus on improving talent rather than emphasizing their flaws, contrasting it with the past practice of releasing performers, which often devastated them.

A lot of those guys and girls, when they got released from WWE, it crushes them. I never understood why we would want to do something like that rather than just like, ‘Ok, let’s send them back to NXT, they just need a little bit more work’ or something like that.

Being released, it’ll crush you and I don’t want to see people, their lives being ruined because of a job. At the end of the day, it’s just a job, but still, it’s something they’ve worked for their whole life and then when you’re told you’re not good enough, man, that sucks.

But that’s not the way it is these days. Now, with Triple H in charge, I think he’s doing a great job of making everyone feel important.

WWE in the Future

TKO Group Holdings has WWE and UFC under one umbrella. Odds are, they will continue raking up big business for years to come, as sponsorship and huge money deals keep coming in.

Vince McMahon is no longer in the picture, and the company is arguably better off for it. The future looks bright in the post Vince era, and talent can also see the shift right in front of their eyes. Only time will tell how Triple H is remembered in pro wrestling history, but he’s off to a good start steering WWE into the future.

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more, as we continue on the road to WrestleMania 40. You never know what headline will pop up next, so please keep checking back for constant updates and the latest headlines.

WWE Star Raquel Rodriguez Sidelined Due to Health Concerns

0

WWE is on their way to WrestleMania 40, and Raquel Rodriguez was just getting herself back into the swing of things. Sadly, she is now off the road and we have no idea how long her hiatus will last.

Raquel Rodriguez has been pulled from WWE’s active roster due to health concerns, including a diagnosis of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. The wrestling community hopes for her swift recovery and eventual return to the ring.

Raquel Rodriguez Pulled

Raquel Rodriguez recently faced a difficult situation due to personal health concerns. Now, PW Insider has reported that she is no longer on the active roster.

In January, Rodriguez disclosed her diagnosis with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), marked by allergic reactions like hives, swelling, and respiratory difficulties. This prompted her hiatus from WWE programming as she prioritized her well-being.

Rodriguez’s Brief WWE Return

Despite returning briefly in February, her condition resurfaced, raising doubts about her involvement in the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE event in Perth, Western Australia.

Fortunately, Rodriguez competed in the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match, won by Becky Lynch. Nonetheless, recent reports from Pwinsider suggest Rodriguez’s removal from WWE’s active roster. While the specific cause for her absence remains unclear, she’s currently listed among other sidelined talents.

We are sending out our best to Raquel Rodriguez during this time. It must be difficult to go through this, especially on the road to WrestleMania 40. Hopefully, she will be able to come back stronger than ever next time.

The Rock Says Ric Flair Will Always Be Wrestling’s GOAT

0

Greatness recognizes greatness even if two legends are working for two different companies like The Rock and Ric Flair.

The Rock had one of his memorable promos this past Friday night in Memphis, TN as he serenaded Music City with one of his ‘rock concerts.’ Dwayne Johnson then went on to take jabs at his forthcoming WrestleMania 40 opponents in Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes before changing his target to Cody’s mom.

The Rock got serious and told Cody’s mother that he’d be handing her a bloody weightlifting belt after he whips his son like a dog with it, then used a closing lyric from his movie, “Moana.”

Flair was impressed and took to social media to put “The People’s Champ” over big-time as a promo, noting that he believes Rocky is even better than him.

“My Friend The Rock, You Are The Most Entertaining Motherf*cker In The Entire History Of The Wrestling Business And I’ve Seen Them All, Including Myself, But I Pale In Comparison! I’m So Thankful For Our Friendship & Respect. God Bless You! You Are The F*cking Man! WOOOOO!”

Flair also made the same post on Instagram and not long after SmackDown, The Rock happened to take notice of “The Nature Boy” and didn’t think he was deserving of the designation.

“Love you brother, you will always be the goat.”

The Rock really let Cody Rhodes have it on Friday as he mocked “The American Nightmare” for crying as his follow-up to slapping The People’s Champion.

RVD Takes Credit For One Of Randy Orton’s Signature Moves

0

Although his repertoire has evolved throughout the years, Randy Orton has kept certain moves as permanent staples of his offense. His RKO finishing maneuver is the most famous, but his Elevated DDT is rightfully hailed as “Vintage Orton!

To execute this move, opponents are typically placed in between the middle and top ropes of the wrestling ring. While the opponent’s feet are positioned on the middle rope, Orton keeps their head secure with a front facelock. In one swift motion, adversaries are then driven face-first into the mat as Orton purposely falls backwards.

RVD Takes Credit

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge, WWE Hall of Famer RVD revealed that he is the man who inspired Orton’s now signature move.

“I was wrestling Randy one time, and I was trying to get in [the ring]. He kicked the rope when I was coming in, and he pulled me out over the second rope and he grabbed me and boom, he gave me the DDT,” RVD said.

“Who do you think gave him that move? Right here, dude. That happened one time, now it happens every time. I’m so OG, I either gave everybody their finish, or I did their finish way before they did.”

Orton and RVD wrestled each other on several occasions in WWE, many of which were contested for the Intercontinental and World Tag Team Championships. Orton and RVD’s most recent encounter took place in August 2014, when their WWE SmackDown match ended in a no contest. RVD’s final WWE match occurred one week later in a losing effort to Seth Rollins.
