Factions of Bobby Lashley & Karrion Kross Get Confirmed New Names

0

Faction warfare is set to unfold on WWE SmackDown with the groups led by Bobby Lashley and Karrion Kross both getting names this week.

Last year, Lashley returned to WWE programming and immediately aligned himself with the Street Profits. The faction has proven to be a force to be reckoned with on SmackDown though have so far been unable to capture championship gold so far. The All Mighty is seeking to bring out a new level of aggression from Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

Bobby Lashley’s Faction Name

Before this week’s SmackDown, it was reported that The Pride was the expected name of Lashley’s faction. On Twitter, Lashley confirmed this new name for the group, as he stated in his Twitter bio that he was the leader of The Pride. Interestingly though, Lashley would change his bio shortly after to remove all references to The Pride. His bio currently reads as:

#SmackDown’s All-Mighty | Former WWE Champion. MMA Fighter | Professional Wrestler | Business Professional | Nutrabolics Athlete

Karrion Kross’ New Faction

Lashley’s faction didn’t confirm its new name on this week’s SmackDown, but Karrion Kross’ group did. On last week’s Smackdown, Kross and the returning AOP attacked Lashley, while Scarlett and Paul Ellering watched on.

During this week’s show, Lashley called out AOP and Kross but only received Ellering. The legendary manager pointed to the titantron where a video promo from Kross played. In it, the two-time former WWE NXT Champion confirmed his group’s name as The Final Testament.

Things didn’t go exactly according to plan during this week’s SmackDown…

Sting Compares Konosuke Takeshita To Fellow Wrestling Legend

0

It wasn’t lost on Konosuke Takeshita that he recently competed in the ring against Sting and The Icon gave quite the hat tip to the young star.

With Sting’s retirement match impending at AEW Revolution, Takeshita took to social media to make note of his recent battles against Sting. Takeshita and Stinger competed in a multi-man tag match at the latest PPV and on the January 10 episode of Dynamite, the two fought once more in tag action. Konosuke noted how he admired Sting’s early work against a name star against someone like Great Muta.

“To be honest, it was very special to be able to fight against Sting. Sting vs Great Muta VHS had a huge impact on me as a kid. Thanks.”

Sting reciprocated Takeshita’s comments with even higher praise, saying that Konosuke has all the abilites to be the next Great Muta.

“Another Great Muta in the making. He has all the tools, for sure.”

Sting’s team came out victorious at AEW World’s End and also won his tornado tag this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite against Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs.

Sting’s road to Revolution should have its fair share of drama as it was indicated his final opponents appear to be Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson as The Young Bucks returned to the company. The brothers had heelish new looks and it’s likely Sting will team up with his “pillar” protege in Darby Allin.

However, Allin reportedly was messed up real bad in the match up after his neck bumped harshly off the ring ropes following a big toss by Hobbs and Takeshita.

WWE & Carmelo Hayes Provide updates after scary botch with Austin Theory on SmackDown

0

WWE takes their talent’s safety very seriously, especially in today’s climate where there is such a microscope on them. During the January 12th episode of SmackDown, one match needed to be called off abruptly after a botched spot.

The Botched Spot on SmackDown

During the recent episode of SmackDown, a match involving Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes encountered a mishap, prompting the officials to halt the proceedings. Things were going well at first, but the referee wasted no time calling for the bell after they both went crashing awkwardly to the mat.

During the match, Theory and Hayes pulled off a maneuver from the top rope, but the execution didn’t unfold as intended. Both wrestlers landed unsafely, and the referee ended the match. It looked like they were trying for a Spanish fly-type move, but it did not end well.

Post-landing, Hayes remained motionless, while Theory did stir a bit more than the former NXT Champion. They were concerned on commentary, but commended the official for calling off the contest in rapid fashion.

Grayson Waller swiftly entered the ring, accompanied by WWE medical personnel, to attend to the situation. They did not provide any updates, but did say that they would be posted when made available.

This is a very new situation, so we have no prognosis at this time. We will update this article accordingly whenever we hear any updates.

Hayes has a match booked for NXT next week. Set for the upcoming NXT episode are two more matchups in the 2024 NXT Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic Tournament. The scheduled matches feature Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams facing off against Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, along with a clash between Chase U and LWO.

WWE Update on Austin Theory & Carmelo Hayes

WWE has issued a statement to update fans about the situation following the sudden match conclusion on SmackDown.

both wrestlers sustained face contusions. It seems that is the only damage they sustained, so both Melo and Theory will be okay.

Carmelo Hayes also updated fans after that scary spot. He didn’t use any words, but the animated gif of The Undertaker springing out of his casket gave us all the info we needed. Melo doesn’t miss, and he’s very much okay after that spot.

FTR Accuses Eric Bischoff Of Wanting A Job With AEW

0

Dax Harwood hasn’t been afraid to express his feelings against his critics and he just set his sights on Eric Bischoff.

Bischoff has been blunt in his constructive criticism of Tony Khan’s AEW and it hasn’t sat well with Khan and now apparently with one of Tony’s top tag teams.

In a new interview with Jeff Snyder, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler didn’t hold back in what he felt about Bischoff and other wrestling personalities who have given their opinions on AEW.

“You got all these old-time, miserable podcasters like Eric Bischoff and some of the others who make a living just by going on their podcasts and burying Tony and AEW when they know that AEW is a place where business is thriving.”

Wheeler then goes on to accuse Bischoff that he holds sour grapes because Khan didn’t offer him a job with the company.

“I think he’s really mad that Tony wouldn’t give him a job the few times he was there to collect the paycheck.”

Harwood doubled down on Cash’s assessment before stating that Bischoff only criticizes AEW for clicks and publicity.

“I know there’s quite a few that glowingly talked about AEW initially, and when Tony didn’t give them a job, now all of a sudden, they’re talking crap about it? Eh, that don’t make sense to me.”

Harwood said that he takes Bischoff’s opinions personally because AEW is how he puts food on the table.

However, on previous episodes of “83 Weeks” and “Strictly Business,” Bischoff has mentioned multiple times that he hopes that AEW succeeds.

Tony Khan has gotten heated at Bischoff for his criticisms of his company and notoriously got into an exchange on social media with the former WCW President.

Nic Nemeth Was Advised By Brother Ryan Nemeth To Leave WWE A Decade Ago

0

Dolph Ziggler was released from WWE in September, but Nic Nemeth is already in NJPW. He may pop up in any number of places at this point, and his brother, Ryan Nemeth, is more than happy to see it happen.

Ryan Nemeth is Excited About Nic Nemeth’s New-Found Freedom

“I’m very excited about it,” Ryan Nemeth said on Busted Open Radio. He continued to say that he had a flashback to when that question is asked a question about a match, and he only has, “Well, you’ll have to wait and see,” to say. Right now, Nemeth can’t contain his excitement about getting to team with his brother.

It also turns out that Ryan has told his brother, the former Dolph Ziggler, to leave WWE for a very long time now.

“I can’t wait. Is there something or isn’t there? I’ve been telling him to leave WWE for like over a decade now. I think it’s always great to leave and reinvent yourself or leave and just do something else. “

Ryan highlighted the advantages of departing from WWE to embrace reinvention and explore diverse creative paths. The prospect of wrestling alongside his brother and the creation of fresh content is also on the horizon. The Nemeth Brothers are ready for this new career chapter, with Ryan proclaiming, “Nemeth Bros forever, baby.”

Ryan Nemeth continued to say that he is excited to team with his brother, Nic, and also do more comedy shows with him. He went on to plug the Wanted Man project, and there is more to come.

“I’m psyched to tag with him, I’m psyched to do more comedy shows with him. We just shot Wanted Man, which is incredible and getting a huge positive response to launch his new character. We have 3 million views on social platforms. I’m so psyched about the positive response. Some horror websites are doing write ups on it. That kind of stuff is what I’m psyched about and you can’t do that kind of stuff when one of you is trapped in a very intense WWE schedule. I’m very excited to start wrestling with him, doing events with him, and shooting more stuff. Nemeth Bros forever, baby.”

Nic Nemeth After WWE

Nic Nemeth made very good money in WWE for a long time. He also made the kind of money that Vince McMahon paid people that he didn’t want to leave. He is financially comfortable and can pick his own projects. That could add up to result in a lot of future projects for the Nemeth Brothers.

Some were surprised by Dolph Ziggler’s WWE release, but he is not going to be hard to find with everything he seems to have on deck.

CM Punk’s WWE Return ‘Hit Different’ For Him Compared to 2021 Wrestling Comeback

0

CM Punk returned to WWE, and he faced a lot of history. It seems that important locations were all around him, from the very building that hosted Survivor Series in his home city. His return to RAW also caused him to face a venue he knew too well.

CM Punk’s WWE Return Hit Different For Him

Punk’s RAW return took place in Cleveland, the very same venue that hosted the RAW in 2014 where he walked out of the company. This was not lost on him at all, and he felt it as well.

Punk emphasized the stark differences between his return to WWE and his earlier comeback to pro wrestling with AEW. Each venture held its unique set of circumstances, making the comparison notable. Still, a WWE return meant Punk was going home, so it hit different.

“100% of CM Punk was nervous,” The Second City Savior told Jackie Redman on the Jackie Redman Show. He then went on to say that returning to pro wrestling, with his AEW debut, was a much different thing than coming back to WWE. Things are different for Punk now too, as he is the “old man on the ice” as he made a much-expected hockey reference.

Returning to wrestling is one thing. Returning to WWE is a completely different animal. I didn’t know how things would go. It’s not like I was off TV for a super long time, but you still, as a performer, you’re like, ‘Is anyone going to remember me?’ I was legit in an arena that had not been kind to me throughout my career. My first UFC fight was in that building. It was also hugely cathartic because I’m very much a guy who, if you ask me if I’m ready, I’m going to tell you ‘no’ because part of the juice is being in front of a live crowd. I’m the old guy on the ice now. I can stretch and warm up and I’m not going to be ready until I’m on the ice, the whistle blows, and the puck drops. Now, I’m ready. I need to be in front of the crowd and I need to see the red light on the camera and it’s like, ‘Okay, now, it’s go time.’”

CM Punk’s WWE Return & Beyond

CM Punk’s return to WWE came out of nowhere. Nobody expected it, except for the people who were guessing. As Triple H said in the Survivor Series press conference, Punk’s deal came together within the last 10 days before it happened, with his deal getting signed that day, far beyond the point where anyone who knew anything thought it would actually happen.

Now that Punk got that debut over with, he was accepted with open arms. He has yet to wrestle a match on television since his return yet. The former AEW World Champion did wrestle Dominik Mysterio during the January 26th and 30th WWE Holiday Tour live events at Madison Square Garden and the KIA Forum respectively.

Punk will wrestle at the 2024 Royal Rumble event in Tropicana Field on January 27th. He has a strong story going into the event, and a lot of motivation to win the match and secure a WrestleMania main event that has been out of his reach for over a decade.

Rob Van Dam Believes HOOK vs. Samoa Joe Could Create Something Special (Exclusive)

0

Rob Van Dam believes HOOK has a very “high” ceiling in pro wrestling.

On the upcoming episode of “1 Of A Kind With RVD” Van Dam got word that Samoa Joe was going to put his AEW World Title on the line against HOOK. Taz’s son will actually be Joe’s first title defense and it’s set to go down next week on AEW Dynamite.

RVD was asked what he thought about the Joe vs. HOOK match-up and if he thinks the current FTW Champion has what it takes to be a top guy.

“From what I know about him, absolutely. What I don’t know about him is very important here because this sounds like a good matchup. It’s probably a really exciting matchup.”

Van Dam said that he wasn’t completely aware of HOOK’s AEW journey and the path that he has taken to get to Samoa Joe, but believes their styles and size difference will compliment one another.

When asked about the bout itself, Van Dam believes HOOK being with Joe will elevate him even further and could see the finish of the fight involving the two earning one another’s respect. He adds that when that happens along with the two stars earning the crowd’s respect, that creates a special moment in wrestling.

“I could totally see that happening with these two guys. You know, I could see Samoa liking [HOOK] and maybe who knows, maybe take him under his wing or something?”

RVD also happened to share a special moment with Joe. On the previous episode of “1 Of A Kind” Van Dam talked about how while the two were in TNA Samoa Joe saved his life from choking to death on a hot dog.

Darby Allin Was ‘Messed Up’ After Botched Spot During Homecoming AEW Dynamite

0

AEW fans are well aware that their injured list is growing more by the week. It appears that Darby Allin is a big banged up after this week’s Homecoming Dynamite in Daily’s Place.

Darby Allin’s Recent Botched Spot

Darby Allin is known for embracing risks, both inside and outside the wrestling ring. His daring moves and extracurricular ventures extend to dangerous spots during matches and extreme sports activities like stunts and skateboarding.

The January 10th episode of AEW Dynamite featured a Texas Tornado Match in the main event, pitting Sting & Darby Allin against Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs. The babyface duo pulled down the victory in the end, but it wasn’t without some big bumps.

One spot during that match saw Takeshita and Cage hurl Allin across the ring by his hands and feet. The former TNT Champion smashed against the other side of the ring, catching his head under the bottom rope in the process.

Bryan Alvarez reported on the F4Wonline Board that Allin suffered an injury during the match, particularly from a neck bump into the ropes. The extent of the injury and potential impact on Allin’s availability for upcoming events remains uncertain, and we hope for his swift recovery.

“Actually, I was told the neck bump into the ropes really messed Darby up in that match.”

https://twitter.com/PuroresuFlow/status/1745278796645711887

Sting also took a pretty bad bump to end that match. He tried to do a Scorpion Death Drop on Will Hobbs through two tables, but they only hit one of them.

Since they didn’t have proper placement on the hardware, they missed the first table completely, sending Hobbs and the WWE Hall of Famer through only one table. Sting also hit his head on the floor in the process, but he seems to be okay.

What Happened Next

After that match, Sting and Darby Allin took to the ring, where Tony Schiavone asked The Icon about his opponent for that final match at AEW Revolution. That is when The Young Bucks returned, sporting mustaches, to make their presence known.

While it hasn’t been 100% confirmed by AEW yet, it appears that the Young Bucks will battle Sting and Darby Allin at Revolution.

WWE Started On Production For New Bray Wyatt Project

0

Bray Wyatt’s passing hit the pro wrestling like a ton of bricks. It still doesn’t feel real for many, as he is still missed to this day. Now, WWE is undertaking a new project to tell his story.

WWE’s New Bray Wyatt Project

WWE has embarked on a new Bray Wyatt project, but we don’t have a ton of details about it yet. PW Insider reports that this new project started within the past week, and Bo Dallas sat down for an interview.

Dallas, who was present in Pittsburgh for the filming, was reportedly joined by Jason Baker of Callosum Studio as well. Baker is well-recognized for crafting Wyatt’s Fiend mask.

Although this project could air on Peacock or A&E, currently, there is no confirmation on the project’s platform. We can only assume that wherever it lands, fans will tune in to see it.

What WWE Is Doing For Bray Wyatt’s Family

WWE has ensured comprehensive support for Bray Wyatt’s family following his passing. JoJo Offerman is receiving the entirety of the proceeds from all merchandise sales associated with him. The company made this commitment shortly after the news of his untimely departure became public.

WWE made Bray Wyatt an official legend by putting him under a contract that will ensure that his family is taken care of.

Bo Dallas remains under WWE contract, and it appears that he will play a role in this project celebrating his brother’s life. We have no word about any possibility of Uncle Howdy’s television return, and I have asked around, but there have never been any talks about that happening.

Jim Ross Hopeful of Commentating Sting’s Farewell Bout at AEW Revolution

0

AEW veteran commentator Jim Ross recently expressed his desire to call ‘The Icon’ Sting’s final match at AEW Revolution in March.

Good Ol’ JR has been a familiar voice in the world of pro wrestling and has lent his voice to several iconic matches over the years. He wants to be a part of the history when Sting graces the squared circle one final time.

During the main event of AEW Dynamite ‘Homecoming’, Jim Ross made his return to the commentary booth and joined the regular team of Tony Schiavone and Excalibur. They called the match which featured the team of Sting and Darby Allin taking on Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs.

Jim Ross wants to be part of the history

Speaking on Grilling J.R podcast, the veteran commentator shared his thoughts on the match which he called on Dynamite. Ross went on to state that he’d like to be a part of the commentary team call with Tony Schiavone for Sting’s final match at AEW Revolution. He revealed that he mentioned it to AEW President Tony Khan to which Khan agreed that it makes sense for that to happen. Here is what he said:

“Me too, me too (I’m hoping to be on the call with Tony Schiavone for Sting’s final match). I mentioned that to Tony Khan last night. He agreed. It’s only right, it makes sense. I said, you know, ‘God dang, mother nature’s gonna tag in somewhere along the way with two old timers like Schiavone and I.’ We’re both feeling good. I’m feeling better today than I’ve felt in a long time. I still got the wound on my ankle. I’m seeing my doctor on Friday to go over an M.R.I., just to double check I didn’t have any bone disease on my tibia. So, I have a doctor’s appointment on Friday morning to go over all that deal and so, I just had a great night. It was one of those really feel good nights.”

Sting in AEW

Sting decided to join AEW back in 2020 and ‘The Icon’ has since participated at several high-profile events. The final run of his career has been nothing short of a fairytale for him.

After having a legendary career that spanned over four decades, Sting has decided to bring down the curtain on his decorated career and his final match in AEW will be at Revolution 2024

CM Punk: I Treat Seth As An Equal, But He Sees Himself As My Little Brother

0

Seth Rollins’s aura is that of a younger sibling to CM Punk, or at least that’s the vibe that the Best in the World picks up.

Since his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series, Punk has proven to be a thorn in Rollins’ side. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion has made it clear why he’s against Punk, who for years would put down WWE in public appearances. Rollins has also been shutting down CM Punk chants at events the Best in the World hasn’t been present for.

CM Punk’s Little Brother

Rollins and Punk have never been short on words about each other, and this week, Punk tried to delve into what makes Rollins tick. Speaking to The Jackie Redmond Show, Punk said he believes Rollins sees himself as inferior to himself.

“We’re very similar. The difference is, I can talk about my career & not have to mention him. He can’t talk about his career without mentioning me. I understand where he’s coming from, you know, I understand, I think he’s always felt like he was the little brother. I’ve never tried to treat him that way, I’ve always tried to treat him like a peer but some people you just can’t reach. He hates me. He hates me, like Colorado Avalanche & Red Wings.”

What’s Next?

CM Punk will compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, in what will be his first televised match for WWE since the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Punk has made it no secret that if he wins, he will challenge Rollins.

For Punk to challenge Rollins at WrestleMania 40, not only does he need to win the Men’s Rumble match, but Seth will need to remain World Heavyweight Champion. Rollins will defend his title on next week’s Raw against Jinder Mahal in a match that has gotten under the skin of AEW President Tony Khan

Top Star Won’t Be At WWE’s Mega Australia Elimination Chamber PLE

0

WWE has a loaded schedule of events for 2024, but Roman Reigns is still enjoying a part-time schedule. That means he doesn’t have to make certain trips, and the company’s journey to Australia is one that he will get to skip.

Debunking WWE Elimination Chamber Rumor

The Rock shocked pro wrestling fans on January 1st when he returned to WWE television. After Dwayne Johnson shut down Jinder Mahal, he then threw a direct reference to Roman Reigns’ “Head of the Table” moniker. Although The Rock’s may return for another match, it will not happen at Elimination Chamber.

The 2024 Elimination Chamber is set to take place at Optus Stadium in Burswood, Perth, Western Australia, on February 24, 2024. Despite the event’s magnitude, a significant rumored match won’t be part of the lineup.

Speculation arose about The Rock returning to wrestle at Elimination Chamber in Australia, fueled by his unexpected appearance at Day 1. It turns out that Roman vs Rock isn’t going to happen in February, because the Tribal Chief isn’t even booked for the show.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter clarified that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not scheduled for the Elimination Chamber match in Australia. The idea that WWE may do something with Rock at WrestleMania is still not dead.

Regarding the Reigns vs. Rock match, while I presume it’s WrestleMania (and could possibly be a three-way with Rhodes but I don’t think that will come out until many weeks from now), what we did have confirmed is the Australia rumors aren’t accurate. Reigns is not even scheduled for the show. He’s never been advertised and there are no plans for him for that date right now

WWE’s Possible Plan for The Rock & Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns made it through 2023 by only wrestling 11 matches. That was a huge drop from the 52 matches he worked in for 2022.

Roman Reigns is slated to defend the Undisputed Universal Title against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and LA Knight in a fatal four-way match at the Royal Rumble on January 27th. It might not be too much to expect that The Rock may appear at Tropicana Field if a WrestleMania main event match is in his future.

Dirty Dango Details Will Ospreay’s Influence On The TNA Locker Room (Exclusive)

0

Dirty Dango isn’t quite dancing with the devil at TNA Hard To Kill, but he will be squaring off against someone who is “Not Human.”

On January 13, the TNA brand officially returns with their Hard To Kill PLE and Dango will be one of the featured fights as he squares off against PCO in singles action.

Speaking with SEScoops.com in an exclusive interview, Dango made mention of all the premiere athletes TNA have on their roster. You can catch the complete interview with Dirty Dango here:

When asked who has been great at balancing their athleticism with their in-ring persona. The first person he thought of was Steve Maclin, who Dango first worked with in NXT.

“Talking about a guy who kind of got brushed aside and, you know, maybe overlooked in the past, and he totally reinvented himself, came up with a really cool character. His promos are on really on par and his work I feel is way better than it was.”

Will Ospreay & TNA

f9elcn wgaamx9e 1

However, another name Dango brought up is Will Ospreay, who will be competing this weekend in Las Vegas at the TNA Snake Eyes tapings.

“The thing I like about Ospreay is he can do the high flying, but his ground game and aggressiveness is really, really, really good.He lays his s*** in which I really like and I appreciate he doesn’t throw things away just to get to the high spot, right?

“In my book, probably the best out there right now. So it’s cool to have him around and he’s bringing out the best of the TNA locker room for sure.”

Ospreay has signed a long-term deal with AEW, but TNA expressed major interest in inking him to a contract before that.

Ospreay’s talent is obvious and Dango saw his influence first-hand behind the curtain and in the ring.

“Guys like Will Ospreay that bring that level up and so it’s cool. It’s cool to see. It’s fun to watch. I don’t get excited watching a lot of wrestling now, but his matches do make me sit down and watch. So it’s good.”

Other topics covered in our interview with Dirty Dango include Arn Anderson’s influence on his career, what pro wrestling can learn from baseball and so much more.

Watch WILL OSPREAY vs. MIKE BAYLEY from Bound For Glory 2023 | Impact Wrestling’s Match of the YEar

Bayley is Willing to Be Eliminated If a Certain WWE Icon Returns

0

SmackDown Superstar Bayley has her sights set on winning her first Women’s Royal Rumble match unless a certain former Superstar makes a return.

The 2024 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event will take place on January 27, from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The show will be the 37th annual Royal Rumble event and the seventh to feature both a Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Bayley Hoping For a Return

The Royal Rumble match is synonymous with surprise entrants and Bayley hopes this year’s match is no different. While speaking on Gabby AF, Bayley was asked about who she’d like to see in the Women’s Rumble.

“Whoever wants to do a surprise entrance, just get ready to get thrown out by me. Mickie James is always awesome, I would love to see her again. Her music hits hard.

“Trish and Lita are always so fun to get those reactions, although they were just around not too long ago, still a good reaction.”

While Bayley would be fine throwing out Mickie, Trish, or Lita, a returning AJ Lee could prove to be too much for the Damage CTRL member.

“In an interview I just had, they brought up AJ Lee since CM Punk is here. I wouldn’t mind that.
I might actually let her throw me over the top rope if she came back. That’s how much I respect her.”

The 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Match

Bayley was the first Superstar to be declared for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. She is joined by Nia Jax and former Rumble winners Becky Lynch (2019 winner) and Bianca Belair (2021 winner.)

Some surprise entrants won’t entirely be a surprise…

WWE’s Abandoned Plan For Randy Orton & Matt Riddle’s RK-Bro Breakup Revealed

0

Matt Riddle previously stated that he has no hard feelings over his WWE release. Matt Riddle raked up over two dozen different infractions during this time with WWE, but it was his team with Randy Orton that many fans remember most.

Matt Riddle’s Claim About Plans For RK-Bro

During an appearance on Signed by Superstars, Matt Riddle discussed WWE’s intentions for him and Randy Orton before his departure. Without providing extensive details, considering the potential for a WWE comeback, the King of Bros mentioned the existence of plans for a storyline featuring a heel turn for one of the RK-Bro team members.

”Plan was — well we were hoping it… I don’t wanna really say how, because if I do return and then we do the story — yeah, I would say eventually all teams eventually turn on each other. I don’t wanna give the spoiler of who was gonna turn on who.”

Riddle and Orton lost the RAW Tag Team Titles to the Usos in a title unification match on May 20th, 2022. Then The Viper needed to take his hiatus for back fusion surgery.

Exclusive Insight Into RKO-Bro’s Breakup Plan

I asked around about this plan for RK-Bro, and I was told that this was actually true. It was always WWE’s intention to break up the team, but they never got to run that angle due to Orton’s back injury.

A tenured member of the creative team told me that, “There was always the plan for Orton to turn on Riddle.” So, the plan was going to see The Apex Predator turn heel on the Original Bro.

Matt Riddle and Randy Orton’s tag team was not intended to be a long-term angle. They were supposed to split after a very short time, as the King of Bros was supposed to eat an RKO outta nowhere and that would be the end of their team. However, they took off in popularity, and Vince McMahon never broke them up for good on television.

I was told several times in the months leading to Randy Orton’s return to the company that an RK-Bro reunion was never discussed. Then, Riddle was released in September, two months prior to Orton’s Survivor Series return on November 25th.

What’s Next For Randy Orton & Matt Riddle

You can never say never about a WWE return for Matt Riddle. CM Punk proved that anyone can come back. Still, Riddle left WWE with a lot of issues, as he had burned all of his chances with upper management who previously stood up for him.

Riddle is now working for MLW and NJPW. He is also taking indie dates, so he will be busy. Of course,

Randy Orton is back in WWE, and in a fatal four-way for the Undisputed Universal Title against Roman Reigns, LA Knight, and AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble on January 27th. The King of Bros may not be at the Royal Rumble event, but odds are he will be cheering on for Randy from home.

Grayson Waller Just Found Out Nebraska is Real, And it Sucks

0

WWE SmackDown Superstar Grayson Waller only recently found out that Nebraska is real and was far from impressed by the state.

Taking to Twitter, Waller shared his shock that Nebraska is, in fact, a real place. Waller admitted he thought Nebraska was where one’s destination when you “go through the wardrobe” when that is the fictional land of Narnia. The Australian Superstar was unhappy that the temperature was -12 Fahrenheit (though he insisted on pointing out that it was 9 degrees Celsius.)

Waller added that Nebraska is “hands down” the worst place he’s visited in the United States. He went on to say that while Chicago was bad, the city has some history while Nebraska (according to Waller) has no positives. The Superstar ended with a plea to WWE to allow him to return to Australia, saying it was “criminal” for the company to keep him in Nebraska.

Pro Wrestling and Nebraska

While Waller has a less-than-savory view of Nebraska, the Cornhusker State does have ties to the world of professional wrestling. In 1996, WWE held its In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies event at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The main event saw Shawn Michaels defeat former friend Diesel to retain the WWF Championship in a No Golds Barred match. 12 years later, Judgment Day 2008 took place from the Qwest Center in Omaha. Triple H defeated Randy Orton in the main event to retain the WWE Championship.

Nebraska is also the home state of several wrestlers including WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase Sr. The Million Dollar Man is a former WWE Champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.

Anna Jay Comments on Brodie Lee

On this week’s AEW Dynamite: Homecoming, Anna Jay wore a shirt in tribute to Brodie Lee, who passed away in December of 2020. Speaking after competing on the show, Jay addressed her time working with the Dark Order leader.

“He’s really what started me here in AEW. He was here from the beginning when I was signed at 21, he kind of took me under his wing. I was in the Dark Order to begin with and he’s somebody who kind of showed me what was right… Now not having him is obviously really difficult, but tonight really sparked something in me that I haven’t had since then.”

UFC’s Jim Miller on Potential Brock Lesnar Fight: “I Could Kimura Brock”

0

UFC fighter Jim Miller won’t back down from Brock Lesnar after recent comments about a potential fight between the two.

In 2007, Lesnar joined UFC and would see massive success as part of the promotion. In 2011, the UFC Heavyweight Champion would retire after facing Alistair Overeem. While Brock would lose the fight, he was paid $3 million for the 146-second fight, equivalent to $20,547 per second of action

Brock Lesnar Vs. Jim Miller

Recently, Anthony Smith made headlines when he spoke about a fight between UFC fighter Jim Miller and Lesnar, and said that the match would be 50-50. With that said Smith added that he’d give Miller the advantage if he faced Brock on the street. At a pre-fight news conference for UFC Fight Night 234, Miller was asked whether he agreed with Smith.

“I’ve trained with plenty of heavyweights through the years. My team now is a little bit smaller than me. Training is training, and I’m not a fan of keeping score, but I’ve trained with plenty of heavyweight world champ grapplers and stuff like that and I’ve subbed ’em out. So I know that if I can isolate something, I could kimura Brock Lesnar.

“I know that I could because I can lift enough. I can deadlift over 500 pounds. I can straighten the guy’s arm. He can’t single-arm curl 500 pounds. So it’s about isolating and stuff like that. It’s going to suck. I don’t want to be underneath him, but I appreciate the push. We’ll take it: 50/50.”

For years there has been speculation about Lesnar potentially returning to the Octagon, and it’s not just the fans who are interested…

WWE’s New Head of Media Lee Fitting Named in ESPN-Emmys Scandal, Ineligible for Future Awards

0

The WWE career of Lee Fitting is already off to a shaky start after being named as part of a scandal regarding the annual Emmy Awards.

Fitting joined WWE recently and is the promotion’s new Head of Media and Production. Fitting is replacing Kevin Dunn, who informed WWE last month that he planned to finish with the promotion. Dunn had been one of WWE’s most powerful people not to be a part of the McMahon family. His tenure with WWE began before the first WrestleMania event in 1985.

Lee Fitting Named in Scandal

With Dunn gone, Lee Fitting will be making the big calls regarding WWE production, but his work with WWE won’t result in an Emmy nomination. A report from The Athletic reveals that ESPN (where Fitting had worked) has been inserting fake names in Emmy entries, taking the awards won by some of those imaginary individuals, and having them re-engraved before giving them to on-air personalities.

ESPN changed the names of several of the hosts and labeled them as affiliated producers, according to The Athletic, with Kirk Herbstreit being referred to as “Kirk Henry” and Lee Corso as “Lee Clark,” among other made-up names. This tactic helped those working on College GameDay to be recognized, despite not being eligible for inclusion in a credit list until last year.

When contacted by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, ESPN admitted to using fictitious names. Fitting, among others, has been deemed ineligible for future Emmy participation as part of the punishment handed out for the scheme.

Lee Fitting’s arrival in WWE has left many in the company resentful…

Nick Aldis Pokes Fun at USA Network Over Tony Khan-Jinder Mahal Beef

0

WWE SmackDown Nick Aldis has had some fun at the expense of the USA Network following Tony Khan’s outburst about the booking of Jinder Mahal.

This week, the AEW President took aim at WWE for booking Mahal in a World Heavyweight Championship match for next week’s Raw. Khan reasons that Mahal shouldn’t be having a title match given his less-than-stellar win/loss record. This led to a backlash among fans, with some pointing at the sudden push of Abadon in the TBS title picture and the sudden push of Hook into the AEW World Championship picture.

Nick Aldis & the USA Network

Tony Khan’s outburst all began in response to a tweet from the USA Network that did not refer to Khan or AEW. The tweet in question was a response to Raj Giri, who brought up the fact that Mahal and Rollins faced off in 2012 over the NXT Championship. The USA Network asked about the Cagematch rating for the match which Khan took as a dig at him.

Now, the USA Network is back to getting involved with WWE’s storylines. This week, Zelina Vega tweeted about not getting opportunities on SmackDown, and told Nick Aldis that RAW General Manager Adam Pearce never had any trouble believing in her. This earned a response from Raw’s broadcast partners at the USA Network, who made it clear they’ve always been impressed by Vega’s work.

This response wouldn’t go unnoticed by Aldis, who indirectly referred to the Khan-Mahal scandal with his response.

As SmackDown GM, it’d do Nick Aldis some good to make friends with those at the USA Network…

On Twitter, Matt Jones, the co-owner of OVW Wrestling, shared his excitement about the news.

Mickie James and OVW

Mickie James is no stranger to Ohio Valley Wrestling as after signing with WWE in 2003, she was sent to OVW which was the promotion’s developmental territory at the time. Highlights of James’ tenure with OVW include winning a Halloween costume contest in October 2004 and defeating Jillian Hall in a $1,000 match the following month.

In 2005, James was part of a tournament to crown an OVW Television Champion after the title had been vacated. The only woman in the tournament, James defeated Mike Mondo in the first round before losing to ‘Blaster’ Lashley in the second. She was called up to the main roster that same year.

Mickie James is set to work with OVW, but the legend is also set to do big things down under…

“Zero Chance!” X-Pac Denies WWE Royal Rumble Return Rumors

WWE Hall of Famer Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman won’t be competing in the upcoming Men’s Royal Rumble match, according to the man himself.

The 2024 Royal Rumble will take place on January 27, from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The venue was once home to WWE’s Thunderdome. The show will be the 37th Royal Rumble event and the seventh to feature both a Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Waltman Denies Royal Rumble Rumors

Earlier this month, it was rumored that Waltman would be competing in the Men’s Royal Rumble match. If so, the match will be Waltman’s first match in a WWE ring since a May 2002 edition of Monday Night Raw. On Twitter, however, the Hall of Famer downplayed the idea that he’ll be competing.

Sean Waltman in the Royal Rumble

Waltman has competed in three Royal Rumble matches, with two being as X-Pac and one as the 1-2-3 Kid. Over these three appearances, Waltman has spent a total of 24:56 in the Royal Rumble match. His sole elimination came in the 2000 match where X-Pac, the #30 entrant, eliminated his former tag-team partner Kane.

Waltman (as X-Pac) also competed in a special Corporation Vs. DX Royal Rumble on Raw in 1999. He lasted 4:10 before being eliminated by the Big Boss Man.

Who’s In?

While Waltman is denying involvement with this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match, several names have been announced. Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre have been announced for the Men’s match. Bayley, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair have declared for the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Waltman has been rumored to make a return in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, but he’s not the only one…

Gritty Hijacks Snoop Dogg’s Gold WWE Title Belt

0

Snoop Dogg’s Gold WWE Title is in the hands of a new individual, and he might have a tag team partner waiting for him as well. As WrestleMania 40 approaches, it appears that his prized WWE Title has found its way into the hands of Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers mascot.

The Gold WWE Title Is In Gritty’s Hands

Snoop Dogg let the Philadelphia Eagles hold onto his Gold WWE Title. Now, it appears that Gritty acquired that gold, but we’re not sure of the measures that Gritty went through to achieve his goal.

WWE took to Twitter, sharing a video featuring Gritty, proudly wielding Snoop Dogg’s coveted WWE Championship. In the video, Gritty playfully called out Snoop Dogg, asserting that he has no intentions of returning the Championship.

What’s up Snoop, it’s Gritty. I got the Gold WWE Title from the Eagles and I ain’t giving it back. Come and get it.

Gritty then clarified that there is no beef with Snoop. In fact, the mascot said that the Doggfather is his tag team partner.

History of Gold WWE Title

Back in August 2022, the rapper was presented with the golden WWE Championship by Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch at the WrestleMania Launch Party at SoFi Stadium. Snoop Dogg took the title on his Holidaze of Blaze Tour to share its awesomeness with fans, but it was unfortunately pilfered.

Late last year, the iconic rapper entrusted his golden WWE Championship to the Philadelphia Eagles. Photos surfaced of Jason Kelce and others posing with the title, safeguarding it in the process.

Who is Gritty?

Gritty has distinctive orange fur, googly eyes, and vibrant personality; he is a perfect fit for the Philadelphia Flyers’ mascot. While embodying the spirit of Philadelphia sports. The mascot has been a fixture at Flyers’ home games, community events, and various promotional activities, contributing to the overall fan experience.

Given his charisma and unique look, Gritty broke into pop culture, and he is mentioned among many staples in pro sports. Now, he is holding onto Snoop Dogg’s Gold WWE Title. Let’s see what he does to it, and if Snoop will want it back afterward.

Sting’s Final Match: What Sting Wants, Last Opponents, Ric Flair & More

0

AEW gave a big hint as to what Sting’s final match could look like ahead of the Icon’s retirement from the ring in less than two months.

In October of last year, it was announced that Sting’s final match would take place at AEW Revolution in March 2024. The show holds significance for Sting, who made his wrestling debut for AEW at the Revolution pay-per-view in 2021.

Sting’s Final Wrestling Match

On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Sting was asked about his final match but was interrupted by the returning Young Bucks. This marked Matt and Nick Jackson’s first appearance for AEW in two months and has left many thinking that Sting’s final match will see the Icon and Darby Allin face the Bucks at Revolution.

Sting has had a “major say” in his final match, Fightful Select reports. Sting has said in the past that he didn’t want to wrestle a singles match and would prefer to work a tag-team match. As of a few weeks ago, the plan was for Sting and Allin to face the Bucks and the Icon was “on board” with the idea.

Tony Khan & Sting

Tony Khan sees Sting’s retirement as very important and wants to make sure it’s done correctly and is a fitting send-off for the legendary wrestler. Whatever Sting wants for his last match and the build to it, AEW has been willing to do.

Whatever Sting wants to do, it likely won’t involve Ric Flair stepping back in the ring. While Flair got physical on this week’s Dynamite, he hasn’t been considered for any actual matches. Flair has been pushing to do more physical things, including the chops and poke to the eye we saw on Dynamite.
