ROH Undisputed World Championship Match Announced for SuperCard of Honor

0

Ring of Honor has announced its first match for the ROH Supercard of Honor event on April 1.

Since going on hiatus, ROH Supercard of Honor will be the company’s first event back. After releasing all of its wrestlers last year, ROH planned to revamp its business strategy. To promote their ROH Supercard of Honor event, the company also revealed that Jonathan Gresham would challenge Bandido to decide the undisputed ROH World Champion.

https://twitter.com/ringofhonor/status/1484181427944136704

The Undisputed ROH World Championship Situation

ROH has found itself in an intriguing situation with Gresham and Bandido. The company wanted Gresham to challenge Bandido for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle on December 11, 2021. However, Bandido had tested positive for Covid-19, and ROH had Gresham challenge Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship. After winning the title, ROH allowed Gresham to defend the title for other promotions like Impact Wrestling and Game Changer Wrestling.

Bandido returned to successfully defend his ROH World Championship at Terminus against Baron Black on January 16. At the same event, Gresham also retained his title against Josh Alexander. After the match, Bandido confronted Gresham to tease a unification match.

It’s unclear what ROH plans to do with the ROH World Championship after the ROH Supercard of Honor event. The company plans to book talent for appearances instead of signing exclusive deals. Regardless, Gresham vs. Bandido is an intriguing match that ROH hopes can excite wrestling fans to watch their upcoming event.

Tom Hannifan Recalls Favorite WWE Moments He Was A Part Of

0

Tom Hannifan has looked back at some memorable moments when he was signed to WWE.

Hannifan was pretty much a swiss army knife for WWE. He could be relied upon to do backstage interviews, host WWE Network shows, or serve as a play-by-play commentator for any brand.

Hannifan went by the name “Tom Phillips” in WWE and he was with the company from 2012 through 2021. His release didn’t surprise too many people as it was clear WWE wanted to go in a different direction, despite relying on less experienced on-air talent as far as knowing the WWE product goes.

Tom Hannifan’s Favorite WWE Calls

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Tom Hannifan revealed some of his favorite calls when he was in the booth for WWE.

“I mentioned KofiMania before, I loved the call that the three of us had on the conclusion of that match. I will always remember Takeover: Dallas 2015 I think with Graves calling Shinsuke’s arrival in NXT and Sami Zayn’s last match in NXT.

“The building just was shaking and Graves and I are freaking out, we had goosebumps and everything. So, that was just one of the most fun moments I had but there were a lot of individual moments where I was really happy with that call.

“When Bobby Lashley won the WWE Title recently I was really happy with that one. For every good one, there’s a hundred bad ones that keep me up at night. That’s just the way I look at it [laughs]. That’s just the way I approach things.

“I have a perfectionist mentality. So, I’m like, ‘Okay if I did this badly …’ even if I just think I did it badly I’ll watch it back and be like, ‘Oh, maybe it wasn’t so bad and maybe just lighten up on yourself a little bit.’ I think that’s just something everyone needs to do in general.

“Just lighten up on yourself.”

Hannifan now works for Impact Wrestling. The company had parted ways with Matt Striker and Hannifan now serves as his replacement. Hannifan made his promotional debut at the Hard to Kill PPV in January.

Killer Kross Says WWE Was ‘Wonderful’ To Him In The Beginning

0

Killer Kross didn’t exactly think he’d be a quick washout on the WWE main roster after being treated like gold in NXT.

Kross had been booked as an undefeated monster in NXT. He beat the likes of Keith Lee and Finn Balor on the brand and many felt he was destined for stardom on the main roster given his size.

Things didn’t pan out as WWE stripped away the things that made Kross special on NXT. Kross never walked out on Monday Night Raw with his wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, and his entrance was watered down.

With WWE taking things that made Kross special and giving him 90s-esque gladiator attire, the character took a big hit. Eventually, Kross and his wife were released.

Killer Kross Had Seen Better Days

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Killer Kross admitted that he felt WWE understood his worth far better when he was on NXT.

“It’s important to understand that the business of the night is not always exactly about you.

“That’s just the way it is and I thought that I was given basically a piece of business that night [main roster debut] that may have not exactly been about me without getting any more details than the fact that I was going under, and I was okay with that.

“People forget too, they gave me a death run where I killed everybody clean in NXT for over a year. I hadn’t even lost yet. So, to put somebody over for me personally, it’s not a big deal.

“Even on my debut, I was like, ‘You know what? This company’s been wonderful to me. Whatever they want I’ll do it, it’s no problem.’ That’s the place I was coming from.”

In hindsight, it’s easy to see why Kross was given his walking papers. WWE has gutted HHH’s version of NXT in favor of going back to the developmental route.

We’ve seen the likes of William Regal and Samoa Joe get released by WWE. Regal’s release, in particular, was eye-opening given how crucial he was to the NXT brand.

Matt Cardona Open to WWE Return, Under One Condition

0

Former WWE superstar Matt Cardona has shared that he’s open to returning to the company. However, he still wants to be able to do his podcast.

Cardona appeared on Busted Open with Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca to promote The WRLD on the GCW event on January 23. Ray asked Cardona if WWE called him to appear the following night on Monday Night Raw, would he listen. Cardona responded that he’d be open to talking about a return, but WWE can’t prevent his podcast business.

“…I’d definitely would listen, but I tell you right now if one of things were you can’t do your podcast, I’ll say thanks but no thanks,” said Cardona. He continued, “That would be a deal-breaker, no way. If there were going to just take away everything that I’ve built with Brian Myers, like something we tried to do in WWE. The Major Wrestling Figures Podcast, they didn’t want it. We pitched it to them. They didn’t want podcasts. They didn’t want anything to do with collectibles. I think they’ve since had a failing podcast network, and they tried something with collectibles, but I’ve had so much fun with this, and this is setting me up for life after wrestling where I would never sacrifice that.”

Matt Cardona on Leaving WWE

After more than ten years with the company, the WWE released Cardona on April 15, 2020. However, leaving WWE helped him reinvent himself, and Cardona may be having more success since he became an independent wrestler. In the interview with Busted Open, he shared that he appreciates his time with the company.

“…I’ve said this, and I don’t mean this as an insult. WWE was my developmental. That’s not a shot a WWE, that is that everything that I learned there the good and the bad I’m using it to make me succeed,” said Cardona. He also shares he has no animosity towards the company.

Cardona is enjoying his professional wrestling career working outside of the WWE. This Sunday, he has a match with Joey Janela at The WRLD on GCW. Regarding the WWE, the company will have the Royal Rumble on January 29. Based on Cardona’s comments, he could be open to the idea if the WWE asked Cardona to appear.

Update on Mustafa Ali Requesting His WWE Release

0

Mustafa Ali has requested his release from WWE. In a message posted to social media on January 16th, he wrote:

“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling. Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE.

Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”

Mustafa Ali can request his release, but that doesn’t mean WWE will give it to him. To update this situation, WWE does not plan to grant Mustafa Ali’s request for release, according to Fightful. Ali said to have years left on his current deal.

Following the reports that WWE is refusing to grant Mustafa Ali’s release request, he tweeted:

Mustafa Ali’s WWE Run

Mustafa Ali debuted for WWE 2016 in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He was a mainstay on 205 Live and led the Retribution faction on the main roster. Recently, he tagged with Mansoor.

Ali is one of the most talented performers on the entire roster and is well-liked behind the scenes. Despite his potential, he never won a championship during the 5 years with WWE. Journalist Phil Strum sums it up well:

Jim Ross Explains Why He Uses A Wheelchair In Airports

0

Jim Ross has been making use of wheelchairs whenever he has to move around airports.

JR is the voice of AEW. He serves as the play-by-play ace for Dynamite every Wednesday night. There was a brief period where Ross had to step away from the booth due to radiation treatments but now he’s cancer-free and back to work.

Jim Ross On Using Wheelchairs

Jim Ross had skin cancer on his ankle and the radiation treatments were quite painful for the legend. During an episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross said traveling hasn’t been fun as his ankle continues to heal.

“I’ve had to tolerate a lot of pain and flying is the sh*ts. We all gotta be careful. When I go to get on the plane I make sure I got plenty of salve on my burn and that I have it wrapped and protected, but boy it’s a pain in the ass to fly.”

The pain is bad enough to where JR has used wheelchairs at the airport to take a load off.

“You know what I’ve been doing, Conrad? People are gonna probably laugh at me and some of them seen me go through the airports. I’ve been ordering a wheelchair.

“Well, walking is a killer, kills it. So, I’ve been getting a wheelchair at the airport on both ends. They pick me up, my driver picks me up here at home, takes me to the airport where I meet my wheelchair guy.”

Ross says that his ankle has been doing much better over the past week. JR also joked that his “wheelchair guy” is quite fond of him thanks to his generous tipping.

Sami Zayn Signs New Multi-Year Deal With WWE

0

Sami Zayn has signed a new multi-year deal with WWE, per Fightful and Pat Laprade of TVA Sports.

The news comes just weeks after Zayn’s longtime friend and rival Kevin Owens signed a new 3-year deal.

Zayn has been with WWE since 2013. He’s a former NXT Champion and a 2-time Intercontinental Champion.

WWE was not the only company looking to retains Zayn’s services. Per Fightful, Zayn also had interest from people in AEW and Ring of Honor, before ROH went on hiatus.

Owens also had interest from AEW, but decided to stick with WWE when all was said and done.

Sami Zayn will participate in the Men’s Royal Rumble match on January 29th.

He’s been involved in a program with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, who will also be part of the Royal Rumble match. It remains to be seen if these two will ever work a singles match, or if their mini-feud will be limited to the Rumble.

AEW Injury Updates on Rey Fenix & Eddie Kingston

0

Rey Fenix and Eddie Kingston are currently on the shelf due to injuries. According to a recent update from the Wrestling Observer, AEW is hoping to have them both back by mid-February.

In the case of Eddie Kingston, he suffered a broken orbital bone recently. It’s not clear how or when Kingston suffered the injury, however. Tony Khan revealed the news at the most recent AEW Dark tapings in Orlando. Kingston is expected back in roughly 3 weeks.

As for Rey Fenix, he suffered a nasty-looking arm injury in the Lucha Bros title loss to Jurassic Express on January 5th. After being chokeslammed through a table by Luchasaurus, Fenix’s arm bent the wrong way. Tests would reveal it was just badly dislocated, however, and he did not suffer a break. AEW is expecting him back in mid-February as well.

https://twitter.com/MadKing1981/status/1483970676646162435

Kingston is involved in a budding rivalry with Chris Jericho that also involves Santana and Ortiz. Last night on Dynamite, Santana & Ortiz seemed to agree with sentiment Kingston had expressed about Jericho being the reason they aren’t the AEW tag team champions.

Fenix is involved in an angle with Death Triangle and the House of Black at the moment. PAC sent a video message to Malakai Black and Brody King this week that implied the injuries he suffered from Black’s mist have healed and he will be coming back soon.

0

Aliyah is hoping to become the first-ever Arab female WWE Superstar to perform in the Middle East.

WWE heads back to Saudi Arabia for Elimination Chamber next month and Aliyah is hoping to be on that show. She recently discussed this during an interview with Denise Salcedo.

“We’re heading to Saudi for Elimination Chamber. No matches have really been announced. It would be an honor to be the first-ever Arab female superstar to perform in the Middle East and that’s always been a huge goal of mine,” she said.

Real name Nhooph Al-Areebi, Aliyah has Syrian and Iraqi descent. She grew up in Toronto and was trained by Rob Fuego and Taylor Wilde before signing with WWE.

0

One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Carmella, has revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 recently. Speaking on the “Bare With Us” podcast along with her partner, Corey Graves, Carmella revealed that she dealt with symptoms of the virus for 3 or 4 days.

“I got COVID. I got-got about what? A week-and-a-half ago? No, two weeks ago now,” Carmella said. “Yeah, I woke up super just not feeling well, just really tired, run down and took some tests and I tested positive and then I mean, it was like a cold. It was kind of like a little bit worse than a cold. I was down and out for like three or four days just not really doing much. But, on the up and up, feeling better now.”

They also revealed that Graves never did test positive for the virus despite being in close contact with Carmella.

“I had to take multiple tests just to be able to go back to work,” Graves said. “And you and I are both vaccinated and it was just it finally hit us and it was what it was, but I’ve avoided it this entire time.”

WWE Abandons ‘Gunther Stark’ Trademark After Nazi Controversy

0

WWE has reportedly abandoned its trademark for the name Gunther Stark.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, WWE initially filed the trademark application on January 13th. The mark was to be used for:

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service.”

Unfortunately, Günther Stark was the name of a German U-boat Commander during World War II. This ignited a firestorm of controversy, with WWE getting global headlines for the gaffe.

At the conclusion of Tuesday’s NXT 2.0 broadcast, NXT star WALTER announced his new name as Gunther. WWE stopped short of using the Stark name and is now cutting bait entirely.

WALTER is now Gunther

WWE has reportedly abandoned the trademark application for Gunther Stark. The USPTO database now lists the application as “DEAD/APPLICATION/Withdrawn/Abandoned.”

Konnan Recovering Following Heart Surgery

0

Konnan is back home after having heart surgery recently. He has been dealing with the impacts of a bad bout of COVID-19 last year that has affected his heart and kidneys.

According to comments by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Konnan began having chest pains but first attributed them to having previously fractured his ribs during an AEW appearance last June. After getting checked out, however, doctors discovered a heart issue.

“When he had COVID, which was about a year ago, it really messed up his heart and his kidneys. His kidneys are actually in very bad shape right now,” Meltzer said.

While the surgery corrected the heart issue, he is said to still be dealing with significant kidney problems. Konnan originally had a kidney transplant in 2007. The 58-year-old now requires another kidney transplant.

“The kidney issue is still ongoing. He’s going to need a kidney transplant again. He thinks he has a donor,” Meltzer continued.

“He’s had kidney problems dating back to his original kidney surgery which is a long time back and his body rejected it so he had to take anti-rejection drugs so that messed him up a lot for a long time.”

Randy Orton Has Started Feeling The Effects Of Using RKO For Decades

0

Randy Orton continues to be one of the most exciting wrestling superstars even after being in the business for over 20 years and his finishing maneuver has played an important part in it.

The unpredictable nature of RKO makes it one of the most unique and deathly finishing maneuvers of the industry. The Viper has hit it countless times on opponents of all sizes over the decades.

Though during his most recent interview with Fox 2 Now, Orton admitted that he is starting to feel the effect of landing on his back night over night for the move:

“I kind of wish I could go back in time and create a finishing move that didn’t entail me jumping up as high as I can and landing on my back. After doing that a couple of thousand times over the last few decades, I’m starting to feel it,”

– Randy Orton

Apart from this, Randy Orton also discussed the history of his family in the wrestling business and his children possibly continuing the legacy in the future.

The former world champion hasn’t officially been announced for Royal Rumble yet, but he is most likely to compete in the 30 men battle royal at the upcoming PPV event on January 30.

AEW Star Nyla Rose Pulled From Indie Event After Contracting COVID

0

AEW star Nyla Rose has been pulled from an indie wrestling event scheduled for this Saturday after contracting COVID.

She was booked for an event of Enjoy Wrestling, but the promotion took on their Twitter to announce that the AEW talent will be missing the upcoming show:

“Welp, we have some bad news. Nyla Rose has contracted COVID and will not be able to participate in Striking Distance this Saturday.

This is obviously upsetting, but what can you do? Shit happens. We wish @NylaRoseBeast a speedy recovery and are working to find a replacement.”

It’s not known when or where Rose contracted COVID. She had wrestled for AEW as recently as the January 12 episode of Rampage.

The 39-year-old teamed up with Penelope Ford & The Bunny to defeat Kris Statlander, Leyla Hirsch & Red Velvet in a six-women tag match in Raleigh, North Carolina. There is no word on if she had contact with any AEW star after testing positive for coronavirus.

There aren’t many details available about Rose’s health so it’s hard to say how she is doing or how long fans can expect her to stay out of action.

We wish a speedy recovery to Nyla Rose.

Kyle O’Reilly Becomes a Father, Announces Birth of Daughter

0

Kyle O’Reilly wasn’t on AEW Dynamite this week, and for good reason. The new AEW star announced that he became a father on Monday, January 17th with the birth of a daughter, Janie Elizabeth.

O’Reilly wrote about the new addition in a post on his Instagram page. He noted that he named his daughter after his late mother.

“January 17, 2022 was the most important and amazing day of my life. Welcome to the world Janie Elizabeth Greenwood. Named after my late Mother who wanted to be a Granny more than anything, I am so proud to be your Dad. Life is so precious and beautiful! You share a birthday with some amazingly influential and positive people including Michelle Obama, Betty White, Muhammad Ali and Jim Carrey plus you were born on MLK day during a full moon. That is some wildly positive energy right there! Can’t wait to watch you grow up,” O’Reilly wrote.

O’Reilly also added the quote “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be,” by Robert Munsch and included a couple photographs.

Watch: Sting and Darby Allin Surprise Fans In Traffic After AEW Dynamite

0

Sting and Darby Allin were victorious in the main event of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday night. The duo took on The Acclaimed in a very good match that even saw Sting dive from the stage through a table near ringside. In the end, the team won with the Coffin Drop.

However, Sting and Allin weren’t done with the fans after the show went off the air on TBS. Following the event in Washington, D.C., Allin published a video to social media that showed he and Sting surprising some fans in traffic outside of the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

As you will see in the clip, the two wrestlers approach a car full of fans and start chanting “A-E-Dub!”, much to the surprise of those in the car. The shocked fans then do the chant back at the two AEW stars before they jump back in their car.

Check out the clip below.

AEW will be live in Washington, D.C. once again, in the very same venue, this Friday night for a live edition of AEW Rampage on TNT.

After Dynamite, CM Punk took to Twitter to praise the 62 year old Sting for his work on the show.

“Sting is amazing. Amazing in multiple decades. Not easy to do, but you couldn’t tell by watching him. Makes it look effortless. Sting is AMAZING,” Punk wrote.

Earlier in the show, Punk defeated Shawn Spears in what was effectively a squash match as Punk continues his road toward MJF. A promo video aired with Punk hinting that he could face MJF in a place MJF wouldn’t want to face him, hinting at the possibility of a match in his hometown of Chicago (Dynamite will be there on February 2nd).

0

Jon Moxley is back on AEW TV, and he hasn’t lost a step.

The former AEW world heavyweight champion was announced to make his return after almost three months of absence on this week’s Dynamite from Washinton, DC.

The company didn’t make fans wait for long as Mox opened the show. During the opening minutes of his promo, a fan made some comments and Jon told him ‘Go f**k yourself’ without hesitation.

The former WWE star went on to cut a passionate promo. He discussed how he has more scars than the average person but claimed that he doesn’t run from his demons.

Jon Moxley then thanked the people for their support and he claimed that this year he is going to grab the world of wrestling by the balls because he is now truly free:

AEW later announced that Mox will be making his in-ring return during this Friday’s episode of Rampage. He will face Ethan Page in a singles match.

Jon took time off from AEW programming in October after entering a rehabilitation program for alcohol addiction. He was competing in the AEW world title eliminator tournament at the time where he was replaced by Miro.

Moxley shouted that he doesn’t run from demons, he just beats the shit out of them. Baker & Cole Picked Up The Win, Cole vs. Cassidy Lights Out Match Next Week

Wardlow and MJF had a conversation backstage tonight on Dynamite. MJF told Wardlow that it his birthday and apologized for losing his cool on him last week. MJF stated that Wardlow did put his hands on him though and will have to dock his pay until he wins the ladder match & the TNT Title for him. Maxwell added that Shawn Spears is going to beat CM Punk later tonight and he will be calling the action.

Adam Cole & Britt Baker faced Orange Cassidy & Kris Statlander. Baker immediately tagged out to avoid getting in the ring with Statlander. Adam Cole then tagged out and Britt got in Orange Cassidy’s face. Britt dared Cassidy to take a swing and he hit her with the lazy kicks instead. Baker stomped on Cassidy’s toe and posed for the crowd. Statlander tagged in and planted Baker with a Body Slam. Britt escaped to the corner and tagged Adam Cole back in.

Cole and Statlander then had a face off. Statlander backed away but Cassidy capitalized on the distraction with a Splash. Cole shrugged it off and went for a Clothesline but Orange ducked. Cassidy connected with a Tornado DDT and Cole rolled out of the ring to regroup. Baker tagged in and Kris booted her in the midsection. Kris followed it up with a vertical Suplex that Cassidy assisted with a light shove. Orange hit a Splash off the apron and shared a hug with Statlander after she connected with a Moonsault. Cole and Britt leveled them outside the ring and shared a kiss as Dynamite went to a break.

Cole and Cassidy were battling in the ring when Dynamite returned. They both hit a Clothesline at the same time and crashed to the mat. Statlander and Baker tagged in and Kris hit a Backbreaker. Statlander whipped Baker to the turnbuckle and delivered a forearm to the face. Kris hit a Blue Thunder Bomb and went for the cover but the AEW Women’s Champion kicked out at two. Britt awkwardly rolled up Statlander fora near fall before hitting a Fisherman’s Neckbreaker.

The gentleman tagged in and traded punches in the middle of the ring. Cassidy got pissed and started wildly bashing Cole in the face. Adam booted Cassidy in the knee and followed it up with an Enziguri. Cassidy hit the Stundog Millionaire and set up for Beach Break but Britt broke it up. Baker hit Cassidy with a Stomp but turned around into a Michinoku Driver from Statlander for a two count. Kris dragged Baker to the corner and climbed to the top rope.

Cole got on top of Baker and Kris hit them both with a big 450 Splash. Cassidy tagged in and hit Beach Break but Cole somehow kicked out at two. Cassidy went for the Orange Punch but Cole rolled out of the ring. Cassidy went for a Splash but jumped into a kick to the face from Cole. Adam climbed to the middle turnbuckle and set up for Panama Sunrise.

Statlander threw Orange in the ring and Cole made it seem like he was going to hit Statlander with the move but Baker booted Kris in the face. Britt hit a Canadian Destroyer on Statlander and Cole hit Panama Sunrise on Cassidy but he somehow kicked out. Orange then accidentally bumped into Baker on the apron and she fell through a table. Cassidy was distraught by this and Cole capitalized with a low blow. Cole followed it up with the Boom for the pinfall victory. Adam demanded that referee raise his hand before he checked on Britt outside the ring.

Rhodes took a shot at WWE by saying he is not in the business of renaming people like “Gunner” or whatever it is. Rhodes added that Brody King has balls to come to AEW with the name Body and we will see if it is a mistake in 8 years when Brodie Jr. shows up.

Cody added that AEW doesn’t have secondary belts and the TNT title is right now because there are two. Becky Lynch To Appear On Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions

0

Becky Lynch will be making an appearance on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skill Sessions.

WWE has announced the appearance of “Big Time Becks.” She will sit down with Stone Cold on the Jan. 28 episode of Broken Skull Sessions. It’ll be airing on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network in other countries.

Stone Cold & Becky Lynch Comparisons

Ever since Becky Lynch started her run as “The Man,” comparisons to Steve Austin have been made. While there is only one Stone Cold, the WWE legend himself told Sirius XM’s Fight Nation back in 2019 that there are definitely similarities.

“She does remind me a lot of myself, cause if you line up that women’s roster and you said ‘Hey, I want you to pick my next break out superstar’ I don’t think you’re gonna pick out Becky Lynch and I damn sure know you wouldn’t have picked me out of a line-up.

“I think it’s an awesome gimmick and it’s money.”

Becky has made it clear on social media throughout the years that she’s a Stone Cold fan. She has linked up with “The Rattlesnake” a few times already. It’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for their next meetup.

WWE Legend: ‘I Don’t See Any AEW Activity In The Royal Rumble’

0

One WWE Hall of Famer isn’t buying into the idea that AEW will have a presence at the Royal Rumble event.

Since Chris Jericho and Hiroshi Tanahashi collided in Tokyo for Wrestle Kingdom 14, the “Forbidden Door” has been used as a way to advocate for cross-promotion. We’ve seen promotions such as AEW, NJPW, and Impact Wrestling working together.

Booker T Not Sold On AEW Talent At Royal Rumble

Recently, WWE and Impact Wrestling turned a lot of heads. Mickie James is the current Knockouts Champion, yet she will enter the Royal Rumble.

There’s been a lot of speculation regarding AEW stars potentially making the event but taking to his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T said he isn’t sold.

“I don’t see it happening. I just don’t see any AEW activity in the Royal Rumble or anything like that. There again, I could be wrong but I just don’t think something like that’s gonna happen right now at this time.

“AEW is definitely on their own wing right now, they’re doing their own thing and I just think something like that would just muddy the waters like crazy. The fans would lose their minds more than anything.”

Part of the reason why some rumors have surfaced has to do with the report from Fightful that Cody Rhodes is working without an AEW contract.

Reporters such as Dave Meltzer have shot down rumors that Cody Rhodes and Jon Moxley could appear at the Royal Rumble.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals Confrontation With John Cena In WWE

0

Freddie Prinze Jr. and John Cena didn’t exactly have a rosy relationship in WWE.

Prinze entered the WWE from the world of Hollywood. He worked behind the scenes in creative. Oftentimes, you’ll hear stories about veterans not taking too kindly to writers in WWE who have film experience.

Prinze found out quickly that he wasn’t going to be an exception.

Freddie Prinze Jr. & John Cena Exchange Words

Taking to his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Freddy Prinze Jr. recalled the time when John Cena interrupted his acting class.

“I was working these scenes with the talent and I think it was Ryder and Hawkins and they were doing a scene from Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, which was making me laugh before they even started just to see these two guys do it and they actually did really well with the scene.

“In the middle of this class, this scene, John just swings open the door, grabs a folding chair that we were all sitting in, sits it down in between Hawkins and Ryder and sits in it and just looks at me like, ‘What are you gonna do?'”

Freddie went on to say that confrontation is good. He said when conflict is avoided, it leads to everyone being passive-aggressive.

With that said, Freddie wasn’t about to back down from Cena, at least verbally. The two had a conversation outside the room where the acting class was being held.

“He said, ‘Look, maybe I’m a neanderthal but I just don’t see how any of this sh*t works.’ And I’m looking at him like, in my head — now look, in hindsight he’s out here making movies.

“So, it’s a growing experience, a learning experience for all of us in the mind whether we recognize that or not. But I look at him and say, ‘Ay man, not everybody can do what you do.’

“I’m not saying, ‘hey can I work with John and can I give him acting lessons?’ When I had my first meeting with Steph I said, ‘Why the hell weren’t you Duke in G.I. Joe. You’re the best actor on the roster.’

“I said, ‘But I’m trying to get them on a level where you’re at or close to it because if I don’t who the hell is?’ And he kinda like shrugged his shoulders and like exhaled. And I said, ‘Ay man, it’s not like you’re helping them out.’

“That kinda like tightened up his humongous muscles and his massive arms that kinda tensed up and he goes, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ and he walked away.”

As Freddie mentioned, now Cena is a big name in Hollywood. He has been promoting the Peacemaker show and will be featured in Fast & Furious 10.

Adam Scherr Shoots At Critics: ‘Making Trolls Cry Is My New Favorite Hobby’

0

It appears that Adam Scherr formerly known as Braun Strowman is in no mood of entertaining critics and he is ready to fire back at anyone criticizing his moves.

It all started when The Titan posted a screenshot showing the difference in YouTube views of a video of his ROH debut compared to a Brock Lesnar appearance and Cody Rhodes’ recent TNT title win.

When fans started responding to this tweet negatively, Scherr doubled down on his take. He claimed that ‘making trolls cry’ is his new hobby:

“Man why are Internet trolls such crybaby’s when you burn them with the rebuttal?? I think making trolls cry is my new favorite hobby. #DontComeAtMeIfYouCantHandleItBack ”

This isn’t the first time Adam Scherr has found himself under fire for his controversial comments. During the lockdown era, he infamously told independent wrestlers to change their professions if they can’t pay their bills.

Braun Strowman was released from his WWE contract back in June last year. He has made several indie appearances since then.

He has also been announced for the Biggest Wrestling Show in the Middle East in UAE. The former WWE star will be teaming up with EC3 on the show.
