Tessa Blanchard Reportedly Set To Return To Wrestling

0

It looks like Tessa Blanchard has a landing spot and a revival is on the horizon.

Blanchard hasn’t been seen inside the ring since her nasty split from Impact Wrestling during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, Blanchard was the Impact World Champion.

Blanchard is being factored into plans for the relaunch of Women of Wrestling (WOW), according to Fightful. We don’t know if she has already sined a contract with the company.

Additionally, there will be another former WOW wrestler who will also play a pivotal role in the relaunch of the promotion. It’s been said that a press conference is scheduled for Wednesday (Oct. 6). WOW has yet to sort out roster plans.

Fans expecting WOW to get back up and running quickly will need to have a bit more patience. The Fightful report notes that this relaunch isn’t expected to happen imminently. It appears it’s in the very early stages but at the very least, the company wants people to know of its plans to return.

WOW and AXS TV parted ways back in June 2020. The split wasn’t surprising as Impact Wrestling made its way to AXS following a purchase.

We have reached out to Tessa Blanchard for comment on this story.

Stick with SEScoops.com for more on Tessa Blanchard’s return to wrestling and the Women of Wrestling reboot when more details become available.

Ricochet Admits He Hasn’t Been Doing Much On WWE TV

0

Ricochet knows that he’s not been as active as he’d like to be on WWE TV.

When Ricochet signed with WWE back in 2018, there was plenty of hype around it. Many fans fantasized about the potential matchups. Ricochet certainly had a solid run on the NXT brand. He ended up becoming the North American Champion and had heavily praised matches with Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano.

Ricochet’s run on the main roster wasn’t exactly terrible at first. He captured the United States Championship and challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. Of course, the match with Lesnar ended up being a squash and he hasn’t exactly been relevant on WWE TV since.

During an appearance on the With Authority! podcast, Ricochet said that he’s waiting in the wings to do something special.

“That’s exactly what I’m here waiting on right now. I haven’t been doing much for the last five weeks. But that’s because I’ve been waiting, biding my time, waiting for the right moment. I’m super excited for the draft. I don’t really have a specific brand I’m hoping to be on. For me it’s just wherever I land, I know in that moment that I’ve got to make an impact, wherever I’m at. People all the time are telling me ‘I want to see you! I want to see you!’ I get that a lot. So I’m just waiting for my opportunity to strike I guess.”

Ricochet currently competes on the Monday Night Raw brand but that could change tonight (Oct. 4). The second night of the WWE draft will take place and Ricochet is eligible to be drafted to SmackDown.

Tag Team Title Match Signed For WWE Crown Jewel

0

Another title match has been added to the WWE Crown Jewel event.

WWE will be making its way back to Saudi Arabia on Oct. 21. The show will feature the highly-anticipated WWE Universal Title match between champion Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. A triple threat match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship between Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, and Sasha Banks will also be featured at Crown Jewel.

We now have another title match added to the mix. Raw Tag Team Champions Riddle and Randy Orton will put their gold on the line against AJ Styles and Omos in a rematch. RK-Bro defeated Styles and Omos for the tag team championships back in August at the Summerslam event.

Here’s the official word from WWE:

“At WWE Crown Jewel, WWE Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro will go head-to-head with former titleholders AJ Styles & Omos in what is sure to be an explosive WWE Raw Tag Team Title rematch.”

Orton has missed a few dates as of late. It was reported by PWInsider that he hadn’t been cleared to compete. It seems that whatever issues Randy Orton had have been resolved.

WWE Crown Jewel will also feature the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown finals. While it hasn’t been announced, Goldberg is expected to meet former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley in a rematch at Crown Jewel.

PROGRESS Tag Team Championship Match confirmed for Chapter 124

0

PROGRESS Wrestling has confirmed that their Tag Team Championships will be on the line at Chapter 124 on Saturday, October 16th.

The Smokin Aces (Charlie Sterling and Nick Riley) will be defending their gold against UK greats Kings of The North.

This is one of the biggest matches that PROGRESS has announced since their return earlier this year in the tag division, and looks set to be a barnburner when it goes up live on Peacock, WWE Network and demandPROGRESS.

PROGRESS Chapter 124

No other matches have yet been confirmed for the card, although these are expected to be revealed over the coming weeks.

This will be the first match back in PROGRESS for Kings of The North since Chapter 73: Fourth Shade of Green, back in 2018.

Big Trade Rumored For Tonight’s WWE Draft

0

One top babyface on the SmackDown brand could be in for a change of scenery.

Night two of the WWE draft will take place tonight (Oct. 4). We’ve already seen big names such as Drew McIntyre make the jump from Raw to SmackDown. Now that the former WWE Champion is off Monday Nights, the brand is in need of another top face not named Big E.

Enter Finn Balor?

Balor recently competed against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. He even busted out the Demon persona for the match. Balor ended up snapping the top rope when he went for Coup de Grace, costing him the match.

Wrestle Votes reports that one writer on Raw has been pushing for Balor to make his way to the red brand.

“WWE has done a better job this go-around of keeping draft results wrapped up. Good job by them. Only speculation I heard over the weekend included a story about how a RAW writer ‘banged the table’ for Finn Balor, to be used in McIntyre’s role now on Monday nights. We shall see.”

Of course, this isn’t confirmation that Balor will indeed be drafted tonight. From the looks of it, however, there is a strong supporter of the potential move. We’ll see whether or not the writer’s wish will come true.

CJ Perry: WWE Doesn’t Own ‘Lana’ Name

0

CJ Perry claims WWE does not own the “Lana” name.

Perry performed as Lana in WWE from 2013 through 2021. She was released from the promotion back in June as part of a wave of budget cuts. Her husband Miro, formerly known as Rusev, was released by WWE back in 2020.

During a virtual signing for East Coast Autograph Auctions, Perry revealed that her WWE name isn’t owned by the company.

“I own that. Owning ‘Lana’ is like owning the name ‘Mike.’ You can’t. In my contract, they own Rusev because it’s so specific, but they don’t own Lana because you can’t.

“I would rather come out as Lana because at the end of the day, I would rather just not come out with my real name.”

Perry has been asked if a run with AEW is a possibility. She’s been very coy on what she’s planning to do next. CJ Perry recently ran into Sammy Guevara, who defeated Miro for the TNT Championship. Perry joked about stealing the title from Guevara.

“Hey Spanish God Sammy Guevara you cheated so I’m taking the TNT Championship back to God’s Favorite Champion Miro !!!!!!”

While Perry’s future hasn’t been made clear, it seems she will stick around in the wrestling industry. SEScoops will keep you posted whenever Perry finds a new promotion to call home.

Bobby Fish Talks Feeling ‘Out of Touch’ With Indie Wrestling Scene

0

Former WWE NXT Superstar Bobby Fish recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio.

The former member of Undisputed Era discussed several topics during the interview, including his return to the independent scene, MLW and his upcoming match on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite for the TNT Championship.

“I was a little out of touch with this [independent] atmosphere” Bobby Fish noted, “because I’ve been where I was for about four years and you kind of lose touch with some of this.

Bobby Fish on Independent Wrestling

“So to get reacquainted with this and to realize the amount of opportunity. Man, it is as exciting as all hell.”

Fish would also state that he is extremely excited to be part of the MLW Opera Cup, saying “It’s friggin awesome. I specifically wanted to do the Opera Cup.

“The level of talent in it is amazing, and it caters very much to a style that I’m very familiar with. I’m just looking forward to mixing it up with everybody in MLW and in the Opera Cup. I’m not looking past anything but Saturday at this point.”

Fish defeated Lee Moriarty in the first round of the 2021 iteration of the tournament.

Riddle Thinks He Had To Earn The Respect Of Goldberg

0

Riddle once had beef with Goldberg but it appears the two are chummy now.

Riddle has been known to ruffle some feathers in WWE. In particular, he got on the bad side of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Goldberg wasn’t happy with Riddle’s comments about his in-ring work. Goldberg confronted Riddle backstage during their first run-in.

These days, however, Riddle and Goldberg have buried the hatchet. Here’s what one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions told Ryan Satin about his latest interaction with Goldberg.

“I’m pretty sure Goldberg [didn’t like me], he gave me a hug the other day at SummerSlam. There was one time that guy wanted to rip my head off and then you earn a certain level of respect. I think that’s what I had to do.”

Goldberg returns to the ring at WWE Crown Jewel on Oct. 21 in Saudi Arabia. He will collide with former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. This will be a rematch from their SummerSlam showdown back in August, which was won by Lashley.

As for Riddle, he remains in a feud with AJ Styles and Omos. Riddle was without Randy Orton this past week, who reportedly isn’t cleared to compete at the moment.

Riddle Gives His Thoughts On NXT 2.0

0

As one of the final stars to be called up to the main roster before the rebranding of NXT, Riddle likes the revamp of the brand. He thinks they are doing a good job of pushing new talent. One-half of the current Raw tag team champions recently made an appearance on the After The Bell podcast. He discussed topics such as the biggest thing he has learned from Randy Orton and more.

Giving his thoughts on the re-design of WWE’s third brand, Riddle said that he likes the new colors. Though he is not so sure about the 2.0 moniker:

“I like the colors, I like the colorfulness, but I don’t know about the 2.0, I don’t think they needed the 2.0, but hey, I get it, we’ve evolved to the next level of NXT. I like it. I feel like, right now, they’re doing a great job of catering and pushing newer talent. Instead of getting guys with huge independent reputations and just putting them in the forefront, it’s really good that they’re building stars.”

Riddle Compares Bron Breakker To Goldberg

The former UFC star also gave his opinion on the fastest rising star of NXT 2.0, Bron Breakker. Riddle claimed that the son of wrestling veteran Rick Steiner reminds him of a young Goldberg with the way he moves around the ring:

“Bron Breakker, dude’s a house, guys pretty stacked, you know? I mean, right now, he reminds me of a younger Goldberg. I feel like him on the mic, he’s very short, very intense, and then in the ring, he’s not doing a lot of dips and dives, but he definitely gets the job done. The guys a ball of muscle, that’s all I can say.”

The Raw star continued by saying that he thinks of Bron when he thinks about up and coming future guys. He claimed that the heavyweight star could be fighting for the world championship in three years. Riddle admitted that only time will tell whether this actually happens, but from what he has seen, Bron Breakker seems to have a bright future ahead.

TJP On How He Got Chosen To Play Suicide In Impact Wrestling

0

The Suicide character in Impact Wrestling has been portrayed by more than half a dozen wrestlers over the years. One of them is the former WWE star TJP. The former cruiserweight champion recently had an interview with Cageside Seats. Among other things, he explained how he got chosen to play the character.

TJP first recalled the time the character made its debut in December 2007 portrayed by Frankie Kazarian. The high flying star remembered how Kazarian was reluctant about it and Christopher Daniels had joked that he should play the character instead:

“He [Frankie Kazarian] didn’t want to do it, he wasn’t having it. We all sat around the locker room and Christopher Daniels joked, ‘TJ should just be Suicide, he’s already in a mask,’ because I was Puma at the time.”

How TJP Got To Be Suicide

Perkins finally got the chance to play the character in May 2013. Explaining how he got the role, TJP revealed the officials originally wanted to bring it back for one night only. Since his Puma character was not being used at the time, the former 205 live star volunteered for the role:

“They were bringing it back for one night only as maybe nostalgia. I don’t think they knew who they wanted to portray it. I said, ‘If you don’t have any idea for this, I’d be happy to do it.’ At the time, I was tired of sitting at home. They said, ‘Good idea.’ One night turned into two, turned into three.”

The former Impact star continued to portray the character for a while before Suicide was revealed to be Perkins during an episode of Impact in June 30, 2013. His ring name was changed to Manik. TJP continued portraying the Manik character till he took his mask off in September 2015. Suicide has since made a few appearances on Impact and he even teamed with Manik in March 2020.

Riddle On The Biggest Thing He Has Learned From Randy Orton

0

Matt Riddle is not only winning titles with Randy Orton as part of their RK-Bro tag team in WWE but he is learning a lot of things from the wrestling veteran as well. The former UFC star recently made an appearance on After The Bell. He discussed things such as how he is able to be himself in WWE and more.

Discussing his partnership with the Viper, the former NXT star said that Randy has thought him a lot. He explained that in indies they had a much faster workrate:

“Randy, over the time we’ve been working together, he’s taught me so much.  The way he moves in the ring, I think for me being from the indies, you have a faster workrate.  You’re trying to get everything in.  You’re only given a certain amount of time.  You’re trying to do everything you can do, instead of making the most of what you’re doing. “

Riddle’s relationship with Orton has evolved over time

Now that he is working with the 14-time world champion, Matt Riddle said that he feels like he is able to get the most out of what he does:

“Working with Randy, I feel like instead of killing myself, which I still do, but I think I’m getting the most out of doing what I do now.  That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned from Randy.”

Riddle also discussed the ongoing Draft and claimed that he wants to stay on Raw because he loves the show. The current champion mentioned how some people don’t like the three-hour show but he loves it because he gets the time to not only wrestle but to talk and have fun as well.

Nia Jax Expected To Take Time Off From WWE Programming (Report)

0

Nia Jax is expected to take an extended period off from WWE programming after recent injury angle on the September 20 episode of Monday Night Raw.

We have seen former NXT star Shayna Baszler talking out both her former tag team partner and Eva Marie by stomping their hands after putting them inside the steel steps in the past couple of weeks.

In an update, PWinsider is reporting that Marie was backstage for Friday’s episode of SmackDown. She was selling her injury by wearing a sling all night.

As for Jax, she wasn’t seen in the arena at all. Word is that the former women’s champion is taking an extended period off from WWE programming. The attack from Baszler was to write her off TV.

WWE has announced storyline injuries to both the female stars. Eva Marie is suffering from possible dislocated elbow while Jax is out with an elbow posterior fracture and dislocation in left elbow.

Based on these reports, we can expect Marie to stay out of action in near future. Though it’s possible that she still makes on screen appearances.

Nia Jax who was drafted to Raw during the additional draft picks made after SmackDown will likely not be seen on TV at all in the coming weeks.

Big E Discusses Potential Match With Goldberg, His Part-Time Schedule

0

Big E understands the fan notion about part-time talents such as Goldberg taking the spotlight from full-time wrestlers like himself, but he thinks from the perspective of such stars as well. The WWE champion recently had an interview with Renee Paquette for her Oral Sessions podcast. During the talk, he discussed things such as paying tribute to Brodie Lee on Raw and more.

E has previously said that he would love to be the one to retire Goldberg. He continued talking about this bout during his appearance, mentioning how he once thought he would never get the match:

“There’s a bunch of things that I never, you know, like the Goldberg match. When I was making my stupid little comebacks about being a main event, I never thought I’d get the Goldberg match. But now I sit in a position where, you know, maybe if I make enough noise, we can get that done.”

Big E On Fan Sentiment About Part Time Stars

Goldberg
A 54-year-old Goldberg has won the Universal title twice since his 2016 return

Big E also discussed the sentiment people have about part-time stars. He claimed that he understands and appreciates the fans who have an affinity to full-time performers. Though he also discussed things from the perspective of the former WCW star:

“And you know people will feel different ways about that. I understand that and I appreciate fans who have an affinity to the performers who are there, on the house shows, working every single night. Because I feel like we are the heart of this company. We’re the ones that keep this thing going.

But in the same vain, if someone were to throw a bundle of cash at me at age 50 to work two or three times a year, who am I to turn that down? So we’ll see.”

The New Day star also commented on his feelings after the big WWE championship win. He explained how he doesn’t ever want to feel like he has made it because that’s the point where you stop growing. Big E cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on Bobby Lashley to win the WWE championship on September 13 Raw.

Rumor Killer On Future Of Bray Wyatt

0

There has been a rumor going around that Bray Wyatt has agreed to a deal with Impact Wrestling but latest reports suggest that this news is not correct.

Although Impact does have an interest in bringing the former WWE Superstars, Fightful notes that no deal has been made between the two parties.

Impact officials asked one of their roster members to reach out to Wyatt but they are nowhere close to reaching an agreement. The report doesn’t state the name of the Impact star who reached out to Bray.

The eater of worlds was released from his WWE contract back on July 31 after more than a decade with the promotion. His non-compete clause is set to expire later this month on Friday, October 29.

Bray Wyatt has been teasing his next move on social media. In a Twitter post last month, the Fiend promised to see everyone very soon. He then responded to some comments from Seth Rollins about their Hell In A Cell match.

Though despite the teases, there is no word yet on which company he is leaning towards and no clear indication of what the former champion is planning for his future.

Jinder Mahal Disputes Notion That WWE Doesn’t Create New Stars Anymore

0

WWE’s declining ratings are generally attributed to the notion of the officials blocking the rise of new stars. Though Jinder Mahal doesn’t agree with this sentiment. The former WWE champion recently had an interview with Inside The Ropes. Discussing the belief that WWE doesn’t create new stars anymore, he named the stars of different generations including his own:

“Yeah, they absolutely do. That’s what we’re in the business of, right? Just being a fan myself. So I grew up first the Hulk Hogan era. Then the new stars came Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Mankind, right? And the new stars came the next generation – Rock, Stone Cold and then the next generation after that, Randy Orton and John Cena, Batista, right? And then the next generation after that, I guess, is possibly my generation, right? Me, Drew McIntyre, Big E, Bobby Lashley, Kofi Kingston, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins.”

Jinder Mahal Believes WWE Still Creates New Stars

Jinder Mahal WWE Champion
Jinder Mahal had a 170 day long WWE title reign in 2017

The former NXT star went on to describe how the names he listed alongside his own are all first-time world champions. Jinder Mahal explained that out of the total 53 WWE champions in the history of the company, 10 have been crowned in the past decade which is a proof of the fact that WWE still creates stars:

“So actually, I started with WWE in 2010 and all those champions that I’ve listed are first-time champions and there’s more that I’ve missed. So in the last ten years, we have had several champions. And if you look back in the 70-year history, I believe we’re at number 53. Ten have happened in the ten years. I think that speaks for itself, that we are creating new stars.

Mahal went on to say that looking at the stats will make people realize that there have been a lot of first-time champions. He claimed that people just need to sit back and enjoy the product and let the storylines unfold. Jinder Mahal won the WWE Championship from Randy Orton at Backlash in May 2017. He held the title for a total of 170 days before dropping it to AJ Styles in November the same year.

WWE Announces Additional Draft Picks After SmackDown

0

WWE Draft began on this Friday’s SmackDown. The show saw several surprising changes such as the WWE Hall Of Famer Edge moving to Raw or The New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods moving to the blue brand without Big E.

However, the company only announced a total of 16 draft picks on air during the episode, which left a lot of eligible superstars undrafted.

The promotion later continued the Draft on Talking Smack and announced additional picks for both the brands before next Monday’s episode of Raw.

During the show, Raw picked Nia Jax, John Morrison, WWE 24/7 Champion Reggie, R-Truth, Drake Maverick, T-BAR, Akira Tozawa, Otis, Chad Gable, Apollo Crews, Commander Azeez, Doudrop, and Zelina Vega for the brand.

On the other hand, SmackDown drafted stars such as Aliyah, Drew Gulak, Mace, Mansoor, Mustafa Ali, and Toni Storm to the blue brand’s roster.

WWE Draft will continue on Raw with stars such as Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley being available to be picked by either of the brands.

You can see all the draft picks made during this week’s episode of SmackDown here and check out the reactions of stars such as Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston on the breakup of The New Day here.

W. Morrissey Seeks Long-Term Deal With Impact Wrestling

0

W. Morrissey has changed his tune when it comes to signing a long-term deal.

Morrissey has been with Impact Wrestling since April of this year. He is formerly known as Big Cass in WWE. Morrissey’s run with WWE came to an end in 2018 after some behavioral issues and going against the script on an episode of SmackDown.

Back in July, W. Morrissey appeared on the Pro Wrestling 4 Life Podcast and said that he wasn’t looking to sign anywhere long-term for the time being. Now that a few months have passed and his contract with Impact is coming due, Morrissey knows the place he wants to call home over the long haul.

During an interview with Bison Talks, Morrissey said he’s ready to put pen to paper with Impact Wrestling for a long-term deal.

“I’m with IMPACT through October. The end of October is Bound For Glory. It’s definitely something I want to do, stick with IMPACT for the long-term. I want to be the IMPACT World Champion, for sure, that’s my goal. That’s been my goal since I got there. I want to be the guy. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. That’s my goal and that’s where I’m going to get to or I’m going to die trying. My ultimate goal is to become the IMPACT World Champion and represent IMPACT on a grand stage.”

At the moment, Morrissey has aligned himself with Moose. In storyline, Morrissey and Moose attacked Sami Callihan and caused an injury to write him off TV. The reality is, Callihan suffered a broken tibia and fibula due to a suicide dive done wrong.

Cody Rhodes Discusses Role As AEW EVP Of Talent

0

Cody Rhodes has detailed what his job entails as the Executive Vice President of Talent for AEW.

There’s been a lot of chatter as of late when it comes to the current state of EVPs in AEW. Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reported that EVPs Cody, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks have seen their roles become greatly reduced. The report also notes that Cody has had a falling out with the other EVPs.

Still, Cody Rhodes appears to see his EVP of Talent role as a prominent one. During an interview with Monsters and Critics Reality, Rhodes said he’s still very much active in trying to find the stars of tomorrow for AEW.

“Well, that’s technically my number one job at AEW as the Executive Vice President of Talent. That’s the most important thing I already know that Bryan Danielson is famous, I already know that CM Punk is amazing in the ring, that Kenny Omega can have a five-star match, I know that. It’s our job to show you who in five years, or three years, will be leading the charge and if you just look at some of the homegrown types with Ricky Starks, and MJF, and Private Party, and Lee Johnson, I mean, I could go on and on. It’s vastly important.”

Rhodes went on to fire back at critics who claim he buries talent. He says he loves mixing it up with rookie performers so that the future of AEW is showcased in a prominent position. In particular, Cody was quite high on Darby Allin and Ricky Starks throughout the interview.

Despite the report of having a diminished role as EVP of Talent, Rhodes heaped praise on Tony Khan. He said that Khan always seems to know which young talent has the potential to stand out above the rest.

AEW Could Make Its Way To The UK In 2022

0

AEW may be going international in 2022 starting with the UK.

The COVID-19 pandemic ruined plans for all businesses. AEW was no exception. The company had plans to make its way to the UK sometime in 2020. With the global lockdown in place, that just wasn’t possible. Things are looking up, however, as travel restrictions have been easing up.

AEW head honcho Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio and expressed his desire to run shows in the UK next year.

“I do really want to do an international tour next year in 2022. I’m not sure if we’ll hit a lot of different cities or if we’ll focus the international trip primarily on Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham Football Club. You know [the stadium] is very, very near and dear to my heart. With our relationship or ownership of the Fulham Football Club and our relationship with the fans and having such a great venue to do a show in such a historic venue, and I would really want to put my focus on that if we do go overseas and I don’t know when we’ll do it, but it’s something I’d really like to do.”

Of course, there are other countries that AEW would like to explore. The main priority in terms of international endeavors seems to be the UK given that initial plans were foiled thanks to unforeseen circumstances.

We’ll keep you posted on any progress being made towards AEW making its way to the UK once those updates become available.

Update On Why Charlotte Was Drafted To SmackDown

0

There is now word on the reasoning for Charlotte being drafted to Friday Night SmackDown.

Charlotte is the reigning Raw Women’s Champion but she’s now on her way to the blue brand. Fans were left confused when SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch wasn’t moved over to Monday Night Raw. Becky is still available to draft on the Oct. 4 edition of Raw.

Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc is reporting that FOX officials can be thanked for Charlotte being moved to the show. It’s been said that the movers and shakers over at FOX put in a request to have her moved to SmackDown.

Giri was not able to confirm whether or not Raw will get Becky. Regardless, the Raw Women’s Championship will make its way back to the brand one way or another.

It’s interesting to note that the ending of the Oct. 1 edition of SmackDown seemingly teased a feud between Charlotte and Becky. Of course, Becky could be drafted to Raw leading to a Survivor Series showdown between the two champions in November. Again, that is only speculation at this time.

CM Punk Explains Doing Commentary For AEW

0

CM Punk enjoys his time whenever he’s in the booth for an AEW show.

Punk has had his share of moments at the commentary table throughout his career. He’s served as a color commentary for a few episodes of Monday Night Raw in the past. Oftentimes, Punk poked fun at Vince McMahon’s “What a Maneuver” line.

Now that he’s in AEW, CM Punk is playing a key role on the roster as a competitor. With that said, he wasn’t about to be taken away from the booth.

During an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Punk explained doing commentary in recent weeks.

“We had an idea of me doing commentary on one of Darby’s matches, and we did that, but I was legit backstage going, ‘I want to do the whole show.’

“I’m not trying to take nobody’s job. I just think it’s a cool way to get CM Punk on the show without doing the same things over and over. It’s just a different look. Obviously, selfishly, I was like, I want to work with Tony, and JR and Excalibur, and I got to have a lot of fun and we got to do a cool little angle out of it, made it look different. I think maybe Darby put somebody through the announce table. That was a while ago, so we got to do something a little bit different. Doing commentary with those guys is a blast.”

Punk has received praise from legendary play-by-play ace Jim Ross for his work in the booth. He went as far as to call Punk a “natural” during an episode of his Grilling JR podcast.

Punk was on commentary throughout the Sept. 29 edition of Dynamite. He is fresh off a victory over Powerhouse Hobbs on the AEW Grand Slam edition of Rampage. He has yet to start a new feud but many are left to believe there is unfinished business with Team Taz.

WWE Superstars React To Night 1 Draft Picks

0

Night 1 of WWE Draft on SmackDown featured some surprises. WWE stars have been reacting to the picks on social media since the show went off the air.

After becoming the #1 overall draft pick, the Universal champion Roman Reigns tweeted a couple of pictures of himself and wrote “I am the one.”

One of the most surprising changes of the nights was Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods once again being separated from Big E. The New Day members were drafted to SmackDown while the WWE champion remained on Raw.

Kingston seemed excited with this change and he made a tweet about being part of the blue brand now. He also seemed hopeful about E possibly being drafted to SmackDown as well during night 2 of WWE Drafts on Raw.

Woods on the other hand didn’t seem very enthusiastic. He posted a video and noted how it does not make sense to pick only two out of three members of their faction.

Austin Theory who was drafted to Raw was interviewed backstage afterward. He was very excited over WWE Draft and claimed that the red brand just became all day.

One interesting reaction came from none other than Becky Lynch herself. A fan tweeted at her saying that Bianca Belair was picked before The Man.

Replying to it, the SmackDown women’s champion mentioned how she is not eligible to be picked up until night 2 of the WWE Draft and gave her reason for it.

The first night of WWE Drafts on SmackDown saw some surprising picks and gave people a lot to talk about until Monday’s episode of Raw.

Many of the stars stayed on the same brand as expected. SmackDown picked the Universal champion Roman Reigns as their first pick of the night while Raw chose Big E as their #1 pick.

Some big brand switches that were teased in the past couple of days also got confirmed during the WWE Draft. The most notable of them was the former WWE champion Drew McIntyre being picked by the blue brand.

The company had a few surprises in store too. The first of them was SmackDown picking the Raw women’s champion Charlotte Flair in the first round.

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston being drafted to SmackDown was a big surprise as well. This was especially shocking because the duo had only reunited with Big E on Raw a few weeks before WWE Draft.
