Ric Flair unsure what CM Punk & Bryan Danielson have done for AEW

0

Ric Flair isn’t sold on the idea that CM Punk and Bryan Danielson have done much for AEW thus far.

The Nature Boy has a new podcast launching this week, Ric Flair Wooooo Nation Uncensored. Each week, Flair and former WCW commentator Mark Madden will take a deep dive into his career and current events in the world of pro wrestling.

In a teaser clip to promote the premiere episode, Flair and Madden discuss Punk and Danielson’s impact on AEW business since joining the company in August/September.

Madden acknowledges that Punk and Danielson certainly stars by any definition of the word. However, he asked Flair, what have they contributed to AEW?

“Well, if I’m looking at the ratings, I don’t know what they’ve contributed.”

– Ric Flair on CM Punk and Bryan Danielson’s impact on AEW

It’s a television business

Pro wrestling is business largely driven by television ratings and rights fees. Flair says Punk and Bryan have had successful careers, but so far, they’ve failed to deliver for AEW where it counts.

“Well, if I’m looking at the ratings, I don’t know what they’ve contributed,” said Flair. “Yeah, certainly, as you said, they’re both big stars in the business. Both have had a lot of success, but I don’t know how to answer that question, because all you can do, as we do with football or any other show, is look at the ratings.”

Flair continued, “To me, that show should never do less than 1.1 million. If they get there once, and bring in all this talent, and go back, then there’s something wrong.”

Tony Khan’s Take

AEW viewership has been sliding in recent weeks. After a nice stretch of time with Dynamite drawing over 1 million viewers in the overnight numbers, the show has been below that level for the past several weeks. The dip coincides with Dynamite being preempted several times in October.

Despite television viewership faltering, Tony Khan has been adamant that CM Punk and Bryan Danielson have made a significant impact on AEW’s business.

During an interview with Robbie Fox for Barstool Sports last month, Khan revealed AEW has seen half a dozen metrics increase since Punk and Danielson’s arrivals.

“I’d say since Punk came in, before Bryan, and now with Bryan, we’ve seen at least six business metrics go up,” said Khan. “We’ve had our all-time record for pay-per-view. Those digital numbers, live event attendance – all-time highs. We were already, before the pandemic, the number one attended wrestling company in the world.”

Tony Khan Comments On TNT’s Reaction To Rampage’s Ratings

0

Tony Khan addressed TNT’s reaction to AEW Rampage’s ratings during the post-event media scrum from Full Gear. The AEW President noted that the network is happy with the numbers, even if they are lower than what Dynamite brings in.

“The numbers that we do are still one of the top shows,” Khan said regarding Rampage’s ratings. “I think sometimes people think that the number that you do for Dynamite should be the exact number you do for Rampage, but it’s really an apples to oranges comparison.”

“It’s frequently the number one show in its time slot and it’s beating everything we’ve faced head to head. Very often it’s been one of the top shows, if not the number one show a number of times even out of that time slot on all of Friday night TV.”

This Friday’s edition of Rampage brought in 515,000 viewers on TNT and a 0.20 in the 18-49 demographic. The previous week the show averaged 599,000 viewers on TNT and a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

“They’re really happy with the show,” Khan continued to say of TNT’s reaction to Rampage’s ratings.

“The fact is for the time slot it’s in, it’s performed really well and they’re really happy with it so I’m thrilled with it because it’s a great franchise for us.”

The average rating for AEW Rampage over the last 10 weeks is 601,100 viewers and a 0.24 in the key demographic, according to results tallied by the Wrestling Observer. This week’s edition of Rampage will be taped following a live episode of Dynamite on Wednesday from “Hangman” Adam Page’s home state of Virginia.

Riddle Says Randy Orton Was Upset He Didn’t Get To Ride A Camel At Crown Jewel

0

As RK-Bro made their ring entrance at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, Riddle rode atop a camel. Orton just walked to the ring as per usual, however. According to comments that Riddle would make recently to Metro UK, his tag-team partner was upset that he didn’t get to ride a camel as well.

“The camel was a good time! I highly recommend, if you haven’t ridden a camel, get yourself a camel, get yourself the opportunity to ride one,” Riddle said.

“You know who wasn’t happy about it though, because they didn’t get to ride a camel either? Randy. Randy wanted to ride a camel and Vince wouldn’t let him,” Riddle continued. “He goes, ‘Randy, that’s not your character, riding a camel.’ He’s like, ‘What does that mean, man?! My character doesn’t ride a camel?!’”

Riddle then says he tried to make his partner feel better about the situation.

“I’m like, ‘Randy, I’m sorry bro, sometimes you’re just not the dude that rides camels.’”

RK-Bro RAW Tag Team Championship Reign

Randy Orton and Matt Riddle won the RAW tag team championships at SummerSlam from AJ Styles and Omos. They then successfully defended the titles against Bobby Lashley and MVP on an episode of WWE RAW. Their second title defense was against the former champions, Styles and Omos, at Crown Jewel when the above mentioned camel riding took place. They’ve since defended the titles a 3rd time on RAW against the Dirty Dawgs team of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

They are the 66th team to win the titles since their inception in 2002. Their victory to win the titles at SummerSlam was the 85th title change in the championships lineage.

Kevin Owens Blamed Big E, The Usos Attacked The WWE Champion

WWE Champion Big E kicked off this week’s show to a great reaction from the crowd. Big E will battle Roman Reigns this Sunday at Survivor Series. Big E said that a lot of people have theirs eyes on him since he became the champion and brought up Reigns. He noted that Roman and his “little cousins” have taken this to a place that we can never come back. Big E added that Roman put his hands on his family (New Day) and that means he has to beat Reigns’ ass like he stole something.

Big E said that will happen on Sunday but tonight is Monday Night RAW. The WWE Champion asked Kevin Owens to bring his “lying, treacherous carcass” out here and Owens showed up on the entrance ramp. Kevin stood in silence as the crowd booed. Owens brutally attacked Big E at the conclusion of last week’s RAW. Kevin stated that there is nothing more that he would love to do than beat up Big E and will do that in a minute.

Owens noted that Big E cost him his match against Seth Rollins last week and that was his third loss in a row. Kevin wondered how he could not snap after Big E has made it seem like he has been lying. Owens added that everyone who judged him for what he did last week can go to hell, including Big E. Kevin vowed to break bad on every superstar in the locker room, and Big E deserves it the most.

Owens blamed Big E for everything that happens from here on out. Big E told Owens to come down to the ring but Kevin retreated backstage. Big E chased after him but got attacked by The Usos from behind. Jimmy and Jey beat Big E down and bounced his face off the ring apron. The Usos rolled Big E into the ring and continued to beat him down. They grabbed a microphone and said “Roman Reigns sends his regards and will see him Sunday at Survivor Series”.

The Usos added that RK-Bro can get this work too on Sunday. Riddle rushed the ring and unloaded some kicks and Big E battled back as well. The Usos retreated and then Sonya Deville came down to the entrance ramp. Sonya announced that they were having a tag team match right now and Seth Rollins’ music hit. Rollins danced around on the entrance ramp as RAW went to a break.

Big E Sent A Message To Roman Reigns Ahead Of Survivor Series

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos battled Riddle and WWE Champion Big E in the first match of the night. Seth Rollins was on commentary for the match. Big E dominated the action early and launched Jey at Seth Rollins. Big E then leveled Seth Rollins before getting back into the ring. Rollins attacked Riddle to end the match in a DQ. Rollins and The Usos then attacked Big E again. Orton rushed the ring and hit an RKO on Uso as Seth rolled out of the ring.

When RAW returned, it was now a 6-man tag with Riddle and Rollins battling in the ring. Jimmy Uso tagged in and Riddle was isolated in the corner of the ring. Jimmy knocked Orton off the ring apron but turned around into a Pele Kick from Riddle. Big E tagged in and hit Jimmy with a Suplex before bashing Rollins off the apron. Big E followed it up with a Splash but Jimmy battled back with an Enziguri.

Big E hit a Uranage and went for the cover but Uso kicked out at two. The WWE Champion hit a Splash on the apron as RAW went to a a commercial break. Seth delivered a couple elbows to the back of Riddle’s head and rolled him up for the pinfall victory. The Usos attacked Riddle after the match but Orton fought them off. Big E then hit the Big Ending and told Uso to tell Roman that was his return message.

Later on RAW, Orton screamed at Riddle backstage for getting involved. Orton told Riddle that he only cares about this team and the titles. Riddle smiled and said “so you do care about me?”. Orton shouted and walked away.

Bianca Belair def. Tamina

Bianca Belair faced Tamina tonight on RAW. Belair sent Tamina to the corner and connected with a few strikes. Tamina exploded out of the corner and hit a Clothesline. Tamina bashed Belair’s head off the canvas a few times before applying a Headlock. Doudrop was shown backstage watching on at an angle nobody would watch television at as Belair broke free.

Tamina leveled Bianca with a shoulder tackle and whipped her into the turnbuckle. Tamina hit a Splash and followed it up with an elbow drop for a near fall. Belair hit a Dropkick and then a Spinebuster for a two count. Tamina connected with a boot to the face and made her way to the top rope.

Bianca joined Tamina on the turnbuckle and unloaded some punches to the face. Bianca slammed Tamina to the mat and then went for a standing Moonsault but Tamina got her knees up. Doudrop interrupted Bianca Belair’s victory celebration and said that she will be looking for her after Survivor Series.

Becky Lynch Responded To Charlotte, Liv Morgan Interrupted

RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch strutted to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Becky will face Charlotte Flair this Sunday at Survivor Series and Liv Morgan is the #1 contender for the title. Becky was standing the ring when RAW returned from a break and the crowd was chanting her name.

Lynch rolled footage Charlotte Flair making fun of all her nicknames and claiming there is nothing natural about Lynch. Becky reminded Flair that she is the person that used to be her best friend and was there for her. Lynch added that she realized that a friendship with Flair meant that she had to be in her shadow, so she slapped her and elevated to another stratosphere. Lynch said that Charlotte became miserable once Becky became successful and vowed to beat the ever-living piss out of Flair at Survivor Series.

Liv Morgan interrupted and apologized for putting a stop from this “weird love/hate relationship” that Becky always has with Charlotte. Liv noted that Becky just walked away from her last week and she’s not going to let that happen again. Morgan said she has the opportunity she has been waiting for. Lynch interrupted and told Liv that she just wanted to give her a moment after her victory because lord knows she doesn’t get many of them.

Lynch rolled footage of from 4 months ago Liv Morgan saying that Becky told her she was going to be champion when she left. Morgan said she wasn’t champion in the clip. Lynch joked that she had no idea Liv would underperform so badly and that some people have it, and some people don’t. Becky told Liv that now that she is back, Morgan isn’t getting her “grubby little hands” on it. Morgan called Becky a bitch and Lynch tried to attack her. Becky went for the Man-Handle Slam but Morgan countered into an Arm Drag. Lynch retreated up the entrance ramp but forgot her title. Liv posed with the title as Lynch flipped out. Liv left the title on the apron and Becky angrily retrieved it to end the segment.

Carmella dodged a Dropkick and hit a Superkick of her own for a two count. Ripley hit a headbutt and then the Riptide for the pinfall victory. Rey Mysterio approached Adam Pearce backstage and confronted him about putting his son in a match against Lashley last week. Pearce told Mysterio to stay in his lane and put him in a match against Lashley tonight. Dominik and MVP were ringside for the main event.

Mysterio hit some kicks to begin the match but Bobby shrugged them off. Rey climbed to the top rope and hit a Senton. Lashley popped right up and leveled Mysterio with a big boot. Lashley hit Mysterio with punches to the face as Adam Pearce watched on (while standing sideways to the television) backstage.

Dominik hopped on the ring apron for a distraction and Rey knocked Lashley out of the ring. Rey tried to leap onto Lashley but Bobby caught him. Mysterio sent Lashley into the ring post and rolled back into the ring. Rey hit a 619 outside the ring and followed it up with a sliding Splash on the floor. Mysterio went for a Crossbody but Lashley caught him. Lashley slammed Mysterio into the barricade and looked into the camera as RAW went to a final commercial break.

Lashley sent Rey to the corner and hit him with a Clothesline when RAW returned. Dominik pounded on the mat as Adam Pearce was once again shown watching backstage. Mysterio went for a springboard Moonsault but Lashley countered into a slam. Lashley launched Mysterio out of the ring and followed him out there. Pearce said it is his job to make sure we have the best competition possible at Survivor Series. Charlotte Flair Says She Can Be Difficult Because She Stands Up For What She Believes In

0

There was a reported backstage confrontation between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at the October 22 episode of WWE SmackDown after they had a championship exchange segment.

Flair had gone to WWE management before the show to voice her concerns regarding the segment and how it would make her look weak. Despite her best attempts, it didn’t work and they went with what the creative team had planned. After the segment, there were loud words being exchanged but no physicality.

While being asked about the criticism she gets for always being the champion in an interview with BT Sport, Flair spoke about how she stands up for what she believes in.

“If I was a man would it rub people the wrong way? No one looks at a man and goes, ‘why does he want to be the world champion again when he’s been on top all these years?’ Is it because I’m a woman and have done it all and we have a smaller division? Charlotte is difficult? Because I stand up for what I believe in? That makes me difficult? If I was a man, I’d have big balls. I know how good I am. Man or woman, I am the best.”

Flair is slated to wrestle Lynch at WWE Survivor Series in a Champion vs. Champion bout. Lynch previously stated that things are difficult with Charlotte right now and they are not friends.

Jim Ross Shares Advice To Released WWE Talent

0

Jim Ross has given some tips to performers who are victims of the latest wave of WWE roster cuts.

WWE has cut ties with 18 wrestlers. Among those names include Keith Lee, Nia Jax, Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Ember Moon, and Franky Monet.

Some of the releases have caught fans off guard. With that said, Jim Ross wants to remind the talent that this isn’t the end of the road.

This is horrible, but get over it

On a new episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Ross shared a message to the crop of talent that has been let go by WWE.

“That’s what I would look at, take this time to better yourself, get bigger, stronger, faster, clear your head, be with your family. But I can tell you this, getting cut from the WWE or AEW or any other company, because you get cut doesn’t mean it’s over.

“I hope they listen, I feel for you but don’t jump down the rabbit hole of ‘I’m just going to get away from everything, I need time’. If you need time, take time but don’t get up in the morning thinking I don’t know what I’m going to do, this is horrible.

“Yes, this is horrible but get over it. Get over it and move forward and prove yourself and try to regroup because there’s a lot of folks doing wrestling right now.

“If you’re ready, willing, and able and you’re a good locker room person, what the hell, give that a shot. Something else is going to come around, that’s the main message I would give them.”

AEW boss Tony Khan recently spoke to Wade Keller on the Focus On AEW show. Khan admitted that some of the names on the cut list have him intrigued.

Many have been critical of WWE’s use when it comes to some of the released talent. Kross was given gladiator-type attire that was widely panned for looking goofy and Keith Lee was given a “Bearcat” gimmick with roaring sounds added to his entrance.

Big E Dismisses Idea Of Triple Threat Match With New Day Members

0

Don’t expect Big E to collide with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods anytime soon.

Big E is the reigning WWE Champion. He may not be on the same brand as his New Day brothers, but the bond certainly hasn’t been broken.

This is why you shouldn’t hold your breath on the three men clashing.

Big E Won’t Fight New Day Members

Scott Warren of RN Pro Wrestling got to chat with Big E during WWE’s European tour. The WWE Champion explained why a triple threat match with Kofi and Woods simply wouldn’t work.

“No, no, no, no, no. We’ve talked about this before and I think we’d be giggling the whole time. Imagine me putting in a headlock on Kofi.

“I would just be laughing. Like, ‘Kofi, I got you in a headlock. Isn’t this funny?'”

Big E agreed with Warren, who said it would be like brothers trying not to crack during a serious moment.

“Exactly. No, no, no. There’s so many other things that we can do as a collective together against other people. We don’t really wanna see that.”

As WWE Champion, Big E has a target on his back. As of late, he’s been having issues with number one contender Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens.

Big E was recently on the receiving end of a vicious attack from Owens. On the Nov. 15 episode of Monday Night Raw, he will respond.

Eddie Kingston & Malakai Black injured at AEW Full Gear (UPDATED)

0

AEW Full Gear has garnered praise but not everyone walked out unscathed.

Eddie Kingston was in a high-profile match at the PPV, which was held inside the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Nov. 13. He went one-on-one with CM Punk in a grudge match. Ultimately, Punk emerged victorious.

Malakai Black was also in action. He teamed with his former NXT rival Andrade El Idolo to take on Cody Rhodes and PAC. Cody and PAC won the match.

Full Gear Injuries: Kingston & Black

It’s been said that both Kingston and Black were banged up at Full Gear.

Eddie Kingston was expected to appear at the Big Event wrestling convention in Queens, NY.

Northeast Wrestling has announced that Kingston will no longer appear due to a shoulder injury. The promotion noted that Kingston was scheduled to undergo medical tests.

There is good news, however. Kingston took to his Twitter account to reveal that his medical tests have come back negative.

https://twitter.com/madking1981/status/1460300912304570368?s=21

As for Malakai Black, he was going to make an appearance on behalf of Rack Attack Promotions. It has been announced that Black also had to pull out of his planned showing due to an injury, although the extent of it hasn’t been revealed.

“Unfortunately we have bad news Malakai Black was injured last night at Full Gear and will be unable to attend The Big Event today. I have just received the news.

“I will have a few different options for everyone attending. I will see everyone soon. We hope to make everyone happy.”

SEScoops will keep you posted once more information on the injuries of Kingston and Black is revealed.

Sasha Banks was “pissed off” Ronda Rousey got the red carpet treatment in WWE

0

Sasha Banks was not pleased with the star-treatment Ronda Rousey received during her WWE run.

The Boss recently appeared on the Kurt Angle Show podcast and vented about the many things that rubbed her the wrong way with WWE’s treatment towards Rousey.

Specifically Ronda received more money than her, a better locker room, and was allowed to bring more people backstage.

“I was pissed off that Ronda Rousey could come in, get more money than me, get a (better) locker room than me, and bring all these people backstage and get more time than me,” Banks said.

“I’m like, ‘excuse me? Who is you and what you do?’ Besides respecting everything she’s done in the UFC and the fight world, when it comes to the squared circle, that’s my home. That’s where I’m the legit boss, not Ronda Rousey.”

Banks noted that she did not think that Rousey had “heat” backstage, but that there may have been some tension between her and the other members of the 4 Horsewomen of NXT.

On the bright side..

Sasha Banks was very complimentary of how fast Ronda Rousey picked things up inside the ring. The two wrestled with the RAW Women’s Championship on the line at the Royal Rumble in 2019, with Rousey coming out the victor.

They also wrestled a couple of tag matches on RAW together, once as teammates and once as opponents.

Despite her complaints about WWE rolling out the red carpet for a celebrity outsider, Sasha Banks says she personally enjoyed working with Ronda Rousey.

“She was awesome to work with and I would love to have another match with her,” said Banks.

Tony Khan Compares CM Punk Getting Booed To Rock vs Hogan At WM18

0

CM Punk defeated Eddie Kingston at AEW Full Gear on Saturday night. While there were many in the crowd chanting for CM Punk, there were arguably more of them cheering for Eddie Kingston. There were noticeable boos in the arena at times that Punk would be on offense.

During the post-event media scrum from Full Gear, Khan compared CM Punk getting booed at Full Gear to the Rock getting booed at WrestleMania 18 in Toronto. Khan attended WM18 live and noted that he was one of the only people in the crowd that night cheering for the Rock.

“I remember being the only person out of 70,000 cheering for The Rock in Toronto,” Khan said. “My friend looked over me like, ‘what are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘somebody has to.’ And that’s how I felt about Punk getting booed tonight (vs. Kingston). There were way, way, way more Punk people tonight than there were Rock people in Toronto, though. I can attest as I was there for both shows.”

Is AEW Planning Shows in Canada?

Khan also noted during the scrum that he is hoping to run AEW shows in Canada. He noted that he is biased towards Toronto, however, as his father owns a hotel there.

“I would love to come to Canada,” Khan responded. “There are a number of great wrestling cities all across Canada. It’s a great country for wrestling. I have so much respect for so many Canadian wrestlers from different cities. I’m very biased towards Toronto because my father owns a Four Seasons Hotel there.”

Tony Khan Says He Knew Who AEW’s First 4 World Champions Would Be From The Beginning

0

In the build-up to AEW Full Gear, Tony Khan did a lot of media and spoke about his approach to long-term booking. At the recent media-scrum following Saturday’s PPV, Khan noted that he knew who AEW’s first 4 world champions would be. The idea of Hangman beating Omega for the title is something that had planned since even before Jericho beat Page to become the inaugural title holder.

Speaking at the Full Gear post-event media scrum, Khan had the following to say:

“Chris Jericho and then Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page. No, honestly, and if you look back, they all set up,” Khan said of his first 4 planned world champions. “Chris wrestled Kenny and then it built to Kenny coming back later to wrestle for the title, teaming with Hangman. Hangman also wrestled Chris. Then it built to Chris and Jon. Jon won the title and while that was happening, Kenny and Hangman had their partnership, their story, and Jon made all those great defences through the pandemic and was such a great pandemic champion.”

“Last year, Kenny and Hangman had that great match in the Eliminator final and then we came full circle to this and I think it all made sense.”

Bryan Danielson Beating Miro May Have Caused Some To Doubt If Page Would Win The Title.

Khan also noted that Bryan Danielson winning the World Title Eliminator tournament may have put some doubt in people’s minds about if Hangman was going to win the belt. Danielson’s win seemingly would set up a rematch with Omega, after their time-limit draw at Dynamite Grand Slam.

“People clearly wanted to see Hangman be crowned, but when Bryan Danielson won the Eliminator Tournament, you had to ask yourself, ‘Are Kenny and Bryan Danielson going to wrestle again?'” Khan continued.

Danielson’s win against Miro now sets up Danielson vs Page for Hangman’s first title defense.

“These things are all pretty well thought out in advance. The first four I would have told you all in advance would be Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, and Hangman Page.”

In a previous interview, Khan noted that while he tries to plan things out in advance, unexpected injuries, fan reactions, and more can cause him to deviate from his plan. He noted that 2 out of 3 times he draws something up, it goes as he wanted it to. 1 out of 3 times, he’s forced to do something different instead.

Top Dolla Deletes Jinder Mahal Diss Track After Fan Backlash

0

Hit Row’s Top Dolla has deleted a diss track he recorded regarding Jinder Mahal after he says he was flooded with negative messages on social media. Hit Row appears to be about to enter a rivalry with Mahal and Shanky and the diss track was meant to be in response to Jinder and Shanky’s segment on Smackdown.

Some of the lyrics from the since-deleted track are below.

“To all of you lames, you’d rather stay in your lane than play these games. Maharaja means prince and you ain’t that. The way you rap it’s clear you hate rap, I state facts. Ain’t you the guy from 3MB, with COVID-19 you wouldn’t be an ill MC. You used to be a champion and that’s embarrassing, you’re arrogant. And I mean, you’re clearly a hater, I’d rather rap with Heath Slater. I’m like Curry from 3 when I’m grilling beef. Get it? Curry beef. It must be an emergency cause if you’re spitting purposely, I’m Top Dolla, you’re bottom rupee, if it was currency I need a bit of urgency because Jinder’s bars sound like he never heard the beat.”

After deleting the track, Top Dolla pointed out that Jinder knew the track was coming. He says that the segment on Smackdown with Jinder and Shanky was making fun of his culture and he was simply doing the same in response.

So far, Top Dolla is undefeated on the main roster. He defeated Cedric Alexander in a dark match on October 1st. In his first televised match, he teamed with Isaiah Scott and defeated Daniel Williams & Dustin Lawyer in a squash match on the October 22nd show.

Kenny Omega Details Injured Shoulder and Wrestling With Vertigo

0

Kenny Omega has been wrestling a hectic schedule for the last year. He’s been defending world titles in multiple promotions and has been doing so while injured. In a recent video with chiropractor Dr. Beau Hightower, Omega spoke about dealing with vertigo and having to learn to wrestle in a ring that seems like it’s spinning.

“Yeah, it’s been an issue since 2018. I just get really bad vertigo. I get dizzy in the ring. I can’t — the room spins. It’s been a new skill I’ve had to inherit is wrestling in a spinning ring,” Omega said. “So to make sure I get that straightened out as much as I can, as often as I can is really paramount for my performances.”

Omega is also dealing with a shoulder injury at the moment. It was noted on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega is unable to workout with weights due to the injury. Omega spoke about the difficulty of his shoulder injury during his interview with Hightower.

“One thing that I can say is I have a lot of difficulty just doing a straight side [arm] raise because of my shoulder injury. I would have to really sort of deviate to [a diagonal raise] to do anything. So to be able to go perfectly sideways is great.”

Omega dropped the title to Hangman Page at AEW Full Gear on Saturday night. This could perhaps lead to him taking time off to heal his shoulder.

Jay Lethal Names Dream Opponent In AEW

0

Jay Lethal has officially joined All Elite Wrestling. The former ROH Champion has commented on his dream opponent in AEW.

Lethal had been a mainstay for ROH for a decade. Despite constant questions about a potential WWE run, Jay Lethal remained loyal to Ring of Honor.

The wrestling world was stunned by the news that ROH will be going dark in an attempt to undergo a “reconceptualizing” process. All ROH talent will be released and Lethal ended up being granted a request to have his release expedited.

Jay Lethal Wants To Wrestle Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho

During the Full Gear PPV, Tony Schiavone brought out Lethal as the newest member of the AEW roster. Speaking with the media after the event, Jay revealed that Chris Jericho is his dream opponent.

“I have said in several interviews that I’ve ever had, they’ve asked me plenty of times, at least 7-8, ‘Who’s your dream opponent?’ And on the top of that list is Chris Jericho.

“I’ve been a fan of his growing up, of course, I’m only 36 so I watched him growing up on television. So, on the top of the list, he’d be my number one pick.

“But I would love it if I got to step into the ring with everybody and I know that may sound like I’m trying to escape the question, but I really can’t wait to step into the ring with every AEW superstar.”

For the immediate future, Lethal will have his sights set on TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. The TNT titleholder is a member of Jericho’s Inner Circle faction.

At Full Gear, Jay Lethal issued the challenge to Guevara. The TNT Champion made his way out to accept. The match will take place on the Nov. 17 episode of Dynamite.

CM Punk Reveals What’s Been Most Refreshing About AEW

0

Not much has surprised CM Punk about AEW but he does find one thing to be refreshing.

Punk had been away from the wrestling business for seven years before making his return back in August. Punk ended up choosing AEW as his new wrestling home.

Since getting back into the wrestling business, CM Punk has shared the ring with Darby Allin, Daniel Garcia, Powerhouse Hobbs, Matt Sydal, and most recently Eddie Kingston.

CM Punk Talks AEW Run

Following his Full Gear victory over Kingston, Punk spoke to media members. When asked if anything has surprised him about AEW, the Chicago native had the following to say.

“Man, I don’t know if anything was a big surprise except just maybe how consistent we are. I have opinions just like the fans do. Not everybody’s gonna love me or what I do.

“I don’t necessarily have to like everything on the TV show but that’s the whole point. We’re not giving you one thing for two hours or three hours.

“We’re giving you a variety of different things and I think everybody who loves pro wrestling can find something that they love about the show.

“To me, that’s the most, I don’t even think it’s really surprising. It’s just a breath of fresh air.

“It’s different, it’s rad and it’s one of the reasons I was drawn to this place. It’s one of the reasons why I wanted to be here and it’s one of the reasons why I’m here.”

Time will tell what’s next for Punk. Many agree that the match with Kingston provided his most intriguing feud under the AEW banner yet despite a short build.

Who do you want to see CM Punk feud with next?

Bryan Danielson Details Monthly Checks With Neurologists And Brain Scans

0

Bryan Danielson has amped things up since joining AEW and he has started taking more risks inside the ring. This increased physicality however has also sparked debate because of the issues the former world champion has faced in the past, even forcing him to take retirement from active completion for a while.

The AEW star provided some updates on his health and the precautions he takes during the post Full Gear media scrum. When he originally came out of retirement, Danielson had to do impact testing after every match. Though he has abandoned that routine now and started taking spect tests to monitor the oxygen blood flow to his brain, which shows that he is getting better:

“I don’t do the impact testing anymore, to be honest, I haven’t done an impact test in years and years. But I do regularly keep up with a neurologist who I see pretty much every month. There’s these new tests called SPECT scans which monitor the oxygen flow in your brain and all that kind of stuff. Because I keep working on it and keep doing different things, my SPECT scans keep getting better and better. I think last time he said that they were better than your average 25-year-old with no head trauma.”

Being A Father Is The Most Important Thing For Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson Full Gear 2

The wrestling veteran then explained that he is being very diligent with his health because he wants to be there for his children. Bryan Danielson said that his main goal is not to be the best wrestler but to be a good father to his son. He also mentioned his daughter saying that he wants to be there to help her when she needs:

“I’m trying to be very diligent because one of the things that’s most important to me is being a dad. I see the best doctors in the country and all of them have cleared me. My main goal is not to be the best wrestler — I’m a relatively old father, my son just turned a year and a half, when he turns 15, I’m going to be 54, 55. He’s going to want to take me down the way that I did when I was 15 with my dad. I’m going to sprawl on him and I’m going to crush his shoulder.

I want to be [able to] when my daughter asks me about chemistry and how H2O bonds with CO2, I want to be able to say it’s H2CO3. I want to be able to do all that and explain to her chemistry, and algebra, and calculus, and whatever it is she wants to do. That is my number one goal to do that and I think, if Tony thinks, I’m getting to a point where I won’t be able to do that, it’s going to be time to stop.”

Bryan Danielson won a hard-fought match against Miro during the Full Gear PPV. This was the final of the AEW world title tournament. The victory earns Bryan a future world title match against the new champion Hangman Page. Though there is no word yet on when this match will take place.

CM Punk Comments On John Cena Tribute During Full Gear

0

The ability to play the crowd is one of the things that has contributed to the success of CM Punk and this skill was on display again at Full Gear.

The former world champion managed to evoke a range of different emotions from the crowd through his performance. One moment, in particular, that got a lot of attention was when he mimicked some moves of John Cena.

Punk spoke about this tribute to his arch-rival and longtime friend in the post-show media scrum. He said that it’s fun for him to play the audience:

“I have one boss when I’m in the ring and I often like to say, ‘I have no boss when I’m in the ring,’ but the truth is it’s the people, and I listen to them. Sometimes I go with the flow and sometimes I take it places.

Regardless of the seven-year gap, I’ve been doing this for a minute.” said CM Punk, “To me, it’s fun just to fuck with people. That’s the whole juice for me. It’s getting different reactions and kind of getting to play with that.”

The straight edge star also discussed paying tribute to Eddie Guerrero on the 16th anniversary of his death and claimed that he never expected to get cheered or booed.

CM Punk faced Eddie Kingston in what many are calling his best match since his in-ring return during Full Gear PPV. He won this bout but there is no word on what’s next for him.

Update On Lance Archer Medical Condition

0

Lance Archer has been out of action since last month after a botched move. Now Tony Khan has provided some updates on his condition

The AEW owner commented on Archer’s health during the post Full Gear media scrum. He revealed that the heavyweight star has passed the impact and concussion tests successfully after his injury:

“Thankfully, he came out of it good. It was a neck injury, not a head injury. He cleared all the impact testing, concussion, all the stuff over the last several weeks. He twisted his neck, but he’s good,”

When asked when we may see the AEW star back in action, Khan said that he doesn’t know and exact date and he doesn’t want to rush things.

For those who don’t know, Lance Archer faced Eddie Kingston in the first round AEW world title eliminator tournament match during the October 23 edition of Dynamite.

The former NJPW star attempted a moonsault off the top rope during one spot. Though he couldn’t rotate enough and landed on his head.

The officials called an audible to end the match after this scary spot. Kingston ended up rolling his opponent for the win. It appeared that the heavyweight star was fine after he walked to the back by himself

Lance Archer also made a tweet about the botched spot claiming that things could have been worse but his absence from AEW since then had fans puzzled. We will have to see how long he has to stay out of action before returning to AEW TV.

People React To Hangman Page Winning The AEW World Title

Though this wasn’t the end of the night as Page took on the time to address the live crowd after the cameras went off air. The AEW star explained how he has been lying to himself about his achievements throughout his career:

“When I joined the bullet club, I thought I would never measure up. I thought I didn’t belong and I lied to myself. When AEW started, I told all of you I would be the first champion, I might have believed it a little bit. I lied to myself then too.” said Hangman Page, “And as time went along, the lies kept flowing. I said I shouldn’t try to hold on to my friendship with Kenny and the Bucks. That was a lie to myself.

I said that these guy right here could never be my friends and honestly god these are the best friends I have in my life. And as we got closer to tonight, there was still a little bit of me that I don’t suppose ever really goes away, that said I wouldn’t win and I lied to myself then too, didn’t I? So, if you will humor me, I will go for one last lie, to myself – I will hold this, for the rest of my life.”
