The Young Bucks Comment On Having Adam Cole In The AEW Locker Room

0

Adam Cole debuted for AEW at All Out in Chicago last month. He quickly joined up with the Elite, whom he had been aligned with before signing with WWE in 2017 as members of Bullet Club. Matt and Nick Jackson were recently interviewed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated and commented on what it’s like having Cole in the AEW locker room.

“I can’t fully express the happiness I currently have, sharing a ring with Adam Cole again,” Matt Jackson said. “His positivity and energy had really helped the morale in our locker room. I haven’t stopped smiling since he showed up. When he arrived, it felt like we finally found that missing piece of the puzzle. The whole gang is finally back together. We hadn’t worked together in five years, but the chemistry was still there. The dude is a star and getting some of the biggest reactions I’ve ever heard.”

Nick Jackson also commented on Adam Cole’s arrival in AEW. He commented on both WWE letting Cole leave and him being resurrected from the dead on BTE.

“I’m still trying to figure that out,” Nick said of WWE letting Cole walk away. “But even crazier than resurrecting the dead is letting a superstar walk away from your company to join the competition.”

Cole has wrestled 4 times in AEW thus far. He’s 2-0 in singles matches having defeated Frankie Kazarian and Jungle Boy. He’s 2-0 in tag-team matches as well. HE teamed with the Young Bucks and defeated Christian Cage & The Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) on Rampage Grand Slam. He later teamed with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega and defeated Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage & The Jurassic Express(Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) in Philadelphia on October 6th.

Adam Cole Details Origin Of His Famous Catchphrase

0

There is no denying that Adam Cole is one of the hottest wrestling sensations right now. One of the most unique things about his persona is his catchphrase.

The former NXT champion recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet. He discussed things such as how his Twitch streams have become a vital part of his life, potentially doing an angle with Britt Baker in AEW, and more.

On the topic of his famous catchphrase, Cole said that he has been doing it since 2009. Revealing the origin of it, Adam recalled seeing Joey Matthews during an indie event of Maryland Championship Wrestling:

“Joey Matthews [Joey Mercury in WWE] was on the show, and he was in the finals of the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup. He was the heel, and he was just walking around going “Joey Matthews!” and putting his fists up in the air, and he said it so many times.

I remember sitting there and thinking that is so smart. If you are not really a hardcore wrestling fan, if you remember one name from that show, it’s going to be Joey Matthews.”

Adam Cole Took Inspiration From Chris Jericho

Adam Cole then explained how he came up with the idea to incorporate this taunt into his own character, with some inspiration from Chris Jericho:

“So I thought how can I incorporate that into my own thing? I’m a huge Chris Jericho fan, and when he would stand on top of someone, flex and go “come on baby!” I was like oh, I will do “Adam Cole Bay Bay.””

Cole also talked about leaving WWE for AEW and how things came together very fast. He said that he wants to make it clear that he had a great 4 year run in WWE.

LISTEN: Sneak Peek At Owen Hart’s AEW Theme Song

0

AEW’s music producer has treated fans to a preview of the theme song for Owen Hart.

Last month, AEW announced a partnership with The Owen Hart Foundation. AEW will be honoring the legacy of Hart with the Owen Hart Cup. The winner of this tournament will be presented with a trophy dubbed, “The Owen.”

In honor of the legend who tragically passed away in 1999, AEW’s music producer Mikey Rukus has posted a sneak peek at Owen Hart’s theme song in progress.

“Take a quick trip back to 1992 with a bit of an edge to it. The honor is and always will be mine.”

In addition to the tournament, AEW will also feature Hart’s likeness in an upcoming console video game and action figures.

The Owen Hart Foundation issued the following statement on its partnership with AEW.

“The OHF is extremely pleased to partner with AEW in this wonderful joint venture to honor Owen’s substantial international wrestling career and the lasting influence he and his craft has had in the sport. AEW’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament serves as a tremendous tribute to Owen and provides an incredible way for professional wrestling enthusiasts to celebrate his work in a most fitting way. We trust that Tony Khan and his amazing AEW team will do a brilliant job with this highly anticipated project. This OHF/AEW partnership is my special gift to all of Owen’s magnificent loyal fans who forever remember him and his inspiring repertoire of talents,” said Dr. Martha Hart.

Roman Reigns Goes Off On CM Punk: ‘A Step Or Two Has Been Lost’

0

Roman Reigns hasn’t been impressed by the return of CM Punk.

Punk made his AEW debut on the Aug. 20 episode of Rampage. He received a thunderous ovation inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. He’s had three matches since his return.

Roman Reigns Not Sold On CM Punk’s Impact

During an interview with Complex, Reigns dismissed the significance of having a match with Punk in the future. While the two are obviously signed with different companies, Reigns feels Punk just isn’t as good as he used to be.

“That’s not going to elevate me at all. He’s older now. I haven’t really seen a full match. I’ve seen a clip or two. And to me, a step or two has been lost. Then also he got his ass whooped in the UFC. I don’t think anybody really believes someone 200 pounds soaking wet with no explosive bone in their body could ever really do anything to me.

“I’m 6’3, 265 pounds, a legitimate athlete who can throw some weight around and has been on the gridiron at the highest level. D1. All ACC. I probably would’ve maintained in the NFL if my health issues didn’t happen when I was 22 years old. So, I mean, when it comes down to it, I’ll throw him and pretty much the rest of that roster out the club no problem. They’re just little brothers, you know?”

This isn’t the first time Roman Reigns has been asked about CM Punk. During an interview with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, Reigns said Punk was never a true draw for WWE in the way that The Rock and John Cena were.

On Oct. 15, WWE and AEW will be going head-to-head for a half-hour. The last half-hour of SmackDown will be commercial-free and it’ll go up against the first half-hour of Rampage.

JBL Looks Back On His Reaction To APA Splitting Up

0

JBL has reflected on the time he was told the APA would be splitting up.

Back in 2004, SmackDown GM Paul Heyman told the APA that Ron Simmons would be fired if they failed to capture the Tag Team Titles. APA lost the match and Heyman ended up telling JBL that he has a lot to think about with his future. When Ron urged JBL to exit the building with him, Bradshaw said he couldn’t leave just because Ron said something “stupid.”

JBL Recalls Reaction To APA Splitting Up

During a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, JBL said that he and Ron wish they had more time but didn’t fight the decision.

“Yeah, of course. It wasn’t up to us. The office wanted JBL, at that time, just Bradshaw to go on his own, and so Ron and I were just footsoldiers. We did what we were asked. We didn’t really protest stuff and didn’t really say ‘we won’t do this’ or ‘didn’t want to do that.’ Ron and I worked together a lot of times before the APA, so we’d wrestle each other a ton. It wasn’t a matter of whether we wanted to wrestle each other, but we really didn’t want to do the angle where Ron came back for revenge and all that.”

JBL ended up getting the biggest push of his career. He captured the WWE Championship and held it for 280 days. As for Ron Simmons, he was legitimately released by WWE but has made sporadic appearances throughout the years to deliver his renowned “Damn!” line.

The 2004 split wasn’t the first time the APA was separated. In 2002, Simmons was drafted to SmackDown while JBL was sent to Raw. The two remained faces as singles stars.

Becky Lynch To Ronda Rousey: “Don’t Come Back”

0

Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey are both former RAW Women’s Champions and also new mothers. Lynch recently spoke with TMZ and was asked if she had any advice for Ronda Rousey about returning to the ring after recently giving birth as well. Lynch’s advice was for her not to return at all.

“Don’t [come back], cause I’m still on top, Ronda, you won’t like it. That’s my advice,” Lynch said during the interview.

Lynch returned at SummerSlam this year and defeated Bianca Belair for the Smackdown women’s championship in just seconds. She also spoke to TMZ about what life has been like since her return.

“It’s been crazy, Mike. It went from zero to 100 real quick. Coming back, and coming back on top after not wrestling for a year and a half. It’s been wild, but it’s been amazing. And, my baby comes along everywhere with me.”

Lynch was also recently on the Out of Character podcast with Ryan Satin. During that discussion she said she was optimistic that a singles match between her and Ronda will happen at some point.

“Yeah, and I do think it will. The fact that I’ve had a baby and came back so great that she’ll probably want to one-up me. She’ll try to come back in three months, then I’ll be right there to punch her right in the face, give her a Rock Bottom, out of here in 20 seconds, Ronda. So long, good night.”

Savannah Evans Picks Up Victory Over Lady Frost

Savannah Evans won the Monster’s Ball match at Knockouts Knockdown and followed it up with a win here over Lady Frost. As for Frost, this is two losses in a row for her as she was also eliminated in the first round of the tournament on Saturday when she lost to Rachael Ellering. Evans got the win with a full nelson slam. So, it looks like she is headed to the top of the division.

The Iinspiration Feel Their Title Shot At Bound For Glory Is “Well Deserved”

The former Iiconics, now known as the Iinspiration, had a letter sent to Gail Kim from Sydney, Australia. Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay said that their tag team title shot against Decay is well-deserved despite never having competed in the division. The letter also requested that it be read out loud in an Australian accent.

Rich Swann defeats VSK

Chris Sabin Defeats Chris Bey

FinJuice came out to support Chris Sabin in this match here against Bullet Club’s Chris Bey. Bey also had his stablemates at ringside but after some commotion on the outside both teams were sent to the back, leaving just Sabin and Bey to go one-on-one. Sabin then picked up the victory with the Cradle Shock.

W. Morrissey Wins Battle Royal, Will Enter Last In Call Your Shot Gauntlet

The stipulation here was that the winner of the battle royal will enter the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound For Glory last but the runner-up will enter first. So, a lot on the line. It came down to Chris Sabin and W. Morrissey. Moose provided some assistance on the outside, preventing Sabin from throwing the big man out and this allowed Morrissey to toss Sabin out instead to pick up the victory.

Minoru Suzuki Is Coming Soon To Impact Wrestling

A vignette aired this week advertising that Minoru Suzuki is on his way to Impact Wrestling. A big forbidden door addition is “coming soon.”

Josh Alexander No Longer Respects Christian Cage

A sit down interview with Josh Alexander and Christian Cage was held this week. During the segment, a clip from a Impact fan fest was shown where Christian said he didn’t know who Josh Alexander was. Cage said it was just good natured ribbing but Alexander was clearly upset. He said he has lost his respect for Christian and stormed off. This will no longer be a friendly contest at Bound For Glory.

The Rock Not Likely To Appear In Person At Survivor Series

0

The Rock making his return at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV to set up a WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns next year is looking less likely by the minute.

Podcaster Andrew Zarian was the first to report that The Rock would be appearing at Survivor Series, which will mark 25 years since his WWE debut in 1996.

To update this situation, The Rock is scheduled to be in Australia at the time of the upcoming show. The Rock could always record a video message to commemorate the occasion, but don’t look for him to be gracing the Barclays Center next month.

Roman Reigns & The Rock

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns has long been talked about as a potential dream match for WWE. There were informal talks about this match taking place at WrestleMania 38, but sources close to the Great One indicate he won’t be wrestling in 2022.

Should this dream match ever happen, it would take place the following year when WrestleMania 39 hits Los Angles.

Roman Reigns is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar later this month at WWE Crown Jewel from Saudi Arabia.

WWE Knows The Main Roster Is Too Old

0

Anyone can point out looking at the current WWE roster that the company has an age issue. The officials are reportedly aware of this too.

According to a new report from Wrestling Observer Radio, the WWE officials are very much aware that they have an age problem, with many of their current stars being close to or over 40 year old.

It’s one of the reasons for the recent revamp of NXT. Executives realize that they have to sign wrestlers in their mid-20s to get them ready for the main roster.

There is a belief among fans that WWE doesn’t care or is in denial about the current shape of the main roster and the lack of stars that can carry the company in future. Though the report suggests it’s not the case.

People within the promotion are “more than aware” of the problems they have. They are making changes to fix things in regards of their roster.

There are currently over 20 stars on the main roster who are over 40 years old. Some of them have been with the company for long such as the 41-year-old Randy Orton.

However, there are also many newly debuted stars who are in the age group, including people such as Damian Priest who is 39 years old, or Shayna Baszler who is 41.

Rampage vs. SmackDown

AEW announced earlier that they will be airing a 1-hour buy-in pre-show on their YouTube channel this Friday night at 9 pm ET. It will serve as the lead-in for the Rampage episode on TNT at 10 pm ET.

This announcement came after WWE revealed that the final half-hour of this week’s supersized SmackDown will be running commercial-free. SmackDown will be airing on FS1 this week and the final half-hour will clash with Rampage.

Tony Khan seems to be excited about this confrontation. He has claimed that he can’t wait to beat SmackDown and the AEW president has confirmed a CM Punk match among others for Rampage.

Tony Khan Suffered Legitimate Injury On AEW: Grand Slam

0

Tony Khan has revealed that he suffered a legitimate injury during a segment at the AEW Rampage: Grand Slam event last month from New York.

The AEW president recently talked to New York post. During the interview, he discussed the monumental AEW show which did some impressive viewership numbers.

Khan also explained how he got his ribs broken on the show. Per him, it happened during his run-in with MMA star dos Santos, in a spot that wasn’t pre-planned:

“He cracked them, I’ll be OK. But he legitimately cracked them. I’ll be OK. It’s been a few weeks, but I’m sleeping on my right side. It felt just right in the moment; it was just kind of improvised. He’s a very strong man. I love the gasp pop it got.”

The AEW Grand slam event saw the American Top Team consisting Jorge Masvidal, Junior dos Santos and Paige VanZant among others, attacking the team of Chris Jericho and Jake Hager after a tag team match.

Tony Khan came out to confront the MMA fighters as they were making their way back to locker room area. Though he was taken off his feet by the 6-foot-4, 238-pound Santos, leading to the injury.

Later in the interview, the AEW owner also revealed that he ‘no sold’ the injury backstage because he didn’t want the doctors pulling him out. Though he didn’t blame Santos for it and Khan claimed that he was ‘asking for it.’

Dos Santos will be making his in ring debut this week. He will be teaming with Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky to face the Inner Circle on this Friday’s episode of Rampage.

News On Issues Leading To Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release

0

The release of Bray Wyatt was probably the most surprising one coming out of WWE in recent times, especially as it came in the face of the competition from AEW.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast recently discussed the former world champion’s departure from the promotion. He suggested that it wasn’t just one issue but multiple issues in conjunction that led to his release. Per Zarian, Wyatt was ‘being difficult’ towards the ending of his run.

The former world champion had some performance issues in the ring as well as weight issues. It’s not the exact reason why the Fiend was let go, but such things make the decision easier when the officials evaluate a talent considering their future plans.

Bray Wyatt’s WWE Departure

Most recently terminated talents have been told their releases are budget cuts. Though many fans don’t buy this excuse in the case of Bray Wyatt, since he is known to be a merchandise mover.

Additionally, finances were also a factor in the relationship souring, which is commonplace with business disputes. Though he again stressed that there is no one reason that led to his firing from the promotion.

The former WWE star himself wasn’t happy with the situation either. There were plenty of variables at work and the decision was not ‘cut and dry.’

Bray Wyatt was released from WWE back on July 31. Assuming a standard 90 days non-compete clause, he should become a free agent later this month on October 29.

Junior Dos Santos Excited For Wrestling Debut at AEW Rampage

0

MMA legend Junior Dos Santos is excited to have his professional wrestling debut at Friday’s AEW Rampage.

The Miami Herald, Jim Varsallone, spoke with him about getting involved with AEW. Dos Santos credited American Top Team Founder Dan Lambert’s help and shared that he fell in love with pro wrestling.

“Dan Lambert invited us to go for the show because he was doing some participation. Then I accepted to go. Once I get there I saw how amazing this show was,” said Dos Santos. He also praised the talent in AEW and the fans, which made him want to compete in AEW.

Junior Dos Santos AEW Debut

Dos Santos is thrilled to begin his pro wrestling career. JDS makes his pro wrestling debut on AEW Rampage when he teams with the Men of the Year (Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky) to challenge the Inner Circle’s Chris Jericho, Jake Hager and Sammy Guevara.

Before coming to AEW, Dos Santos didn’t have pro wrestling experience. However, he has been learning from Lambert, Page, Sky, and Major League Wrestling talent King Mo in preparation for his debut.

“…I’ve been having some really good advice from Dan Lambert, who is also a big fan of pro wrestling and got a lot of experience on this. And also, King Mo has a lot of experience on this as well. He’s been showing some good things about that, said Dos Santos. He continued, “Also, Sky and Ethan, they are also helping me with that. Man, I can tell you I will be more than ready to put on a great show for everybody.”

He confirmed during the interview that this match would not be his last. He also believes other fighters may appear at AEW.

“…If you go to the gym and ask the guys, do you want to go to pro wrestling and go do something in pro wrestling, most of them would say yes. Because they can see how excited I am,” said Dos Santos.

At AEW Rampage, Dos Santos will prove he can have a successful career in pro wrestling. While it is an unfamiliar challenge, it seems he is enjoying his new career opportunity.

Becky Lynch Optimistic About Singles Match With Ronda Rousey

0

Becky Lynch is showing optimism over a potential singles match with Ronda Rousey.

At WrestleMania 35 back in 2019. Lynch took on Ronda Rousey and Charlotte to determine the undisputed WWE Women’s Champion. Going into the match, Rousey was the Raw Women’s Champion, while Charlottle held the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Becky Lynch ended up winning that match and becoming the “champ-champ.” Rousey hasn’t had another WWE match since.

Appearing on the Out of Character podcast, Lynch told Ryan Satin that she feels a one-on-one match with Rousey will eventually happen.

At the moment, Becky is busy feuding with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. Lynch is the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion. She will put that title up for grabs on Oct. 21 in a triple threat match against Belair and Banks. The championship match will be featured on the WWE Crown Jewel card.

Lynch made her return to the ring in August. She had been away due to pregnancy. Last month, Rousey welcomed her first child. Time will tell if Rousey will eventually get the itch to return to the squared circle. If she does, there’s definitely unfinished business with Becky.

Mance Warner Leaving MLW, Wanted By AEW

0

MLW star and GCW Tag Team Champion Mance Warner is reportedly set to be leaving Major League Wrestling as of the end of January 2022.

Cassidy Haynes of BodySlam.net recently reported that Warner’s contract is set to end early next year, and that AEW are extremely interested in bringing in the tenured independent star.

“In an update on Mance Warner’s contract status with MLW I have confirmed after speaking with multiple sources that his contract is set to expire at the end of January 2022.”

BODYSLAM

Mance Warner has reportedly made multiple requests to be released from his MLW contract over the past year, but these have been turned down.

Warner is now quietly awaiting free agency before he makes his next move, and apparently, All Elite and WWE’s NXT brand are looking at bringing in the ‘Southern Psycho.’

As mentioned, Warner is one half of the GCW Tag Team Champions with Matthew Justice.

The team is set to defend their GCW Tag Titles against The Briscoes (Mark & Jay Briscoe) at GCW War Ready on October 23rd.

Jim Ross Not Sold On AEW Rampage Going Two Hours

0

AEW’s play-by-play ace, Jim Ross doesn’t see Rampage moving to two hours permanently.

Rampage is a new weekly AEW show that is only two months old. It’s a one-hour show that has received one two-hour special thus far. Many have enjoyed Rampage being just one hour as it feels the show simply breezes by without filler.

Jim Ross Dismisses Two Hours For Rampage

During an episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross shared his belief that Rampage won’t be moving to two hours anytime soon.

“That one-hour show on Friday night seems like it flies by. I think that the one-hour format still has its place. Two would be my absolute limit unless you’re doing a PPV where people are paying more, and you get more on a PPV.  I think the one-hour thing still works. I don’t see Rampage going to two hours. I don’t see any of Tony Khan’s over-the-air content ever going to three hours. Who the hell knows for sure, but I would be surprised if that ever happened. I think we’ve all learned good lessons about these three-hour RAWs. It’s not done for artistic benefit. It’s done for the money. USA is paying a lot more money for that third hour of prime time television that’s live every week, but to me, it’s a little bit long.”

Rampage has already had some memorable moments. In the show’s debut, Christian Cage defeated Kenny Omega to capture the Impact Wrestling World Championship. On the Aug. 20 edition of Rampage, CM Punk made his return to the wrestling industry and received one of the loudest ovations you will ever hear.

The next episode of Rampage will take place on Oct. 15. It’ll go head-to-head with the final half-hour of WWE SmackDown, which airs on FOX Sports 1 due to a scheduling conflict with the MLB playoffs.

The card is stacked, including Junior dos Santos making his pro wrestling debut.

Brian Cage Discusses Issues with Team Taz and Being FTW Champion

0

AEW star Brian Cage has shared his thoughts on working with Team Taz and his time as the FTW champion. The Machine appeared on Dynamite Download this week and discussed his feud with his former faction.

Cage says he’s ready to move on from the rivalry and admits that he didn’t love working with Taz when he was a member of the group. When asked by host Sean Downey if he felt misused during his time with Team Taz, Cage gave his honest opinion.

“…I’ve said it to you, I was like look Taz you don’t really care about me. You don’t really care about how I’m being looked at or represented,” said Cage. He continued, “You just care about how it makes you look. You just trying to live vicariously through me and that’s why you gave me the FTW title.”

Brian Cage Rivalry with Team Taz

Cage made his AEW debut on May 23, 2020, at AEW Double or Nothing after winning the Casino Ladder match with Taz as his manager. On July 8, 2020, Taz gave Cage the FTW Championship, which Taz made famous. However, Cage felt he didn’t need it.

“…The FTW title too, which I never asked for Obviously. It was just gifted to me,” said Cage. While being appreciative, he also shared he was indifferent to being the FTW champion.

“…We never really did that much with it. It was cool, I was indifferent on the whole thing. And obviously how it all ended, how I lost it and, everything else it exactly doesn’t sit well with me,” said, Cage.

Cage lost the FTW championship to Ricky Starks this year on the July 14th episode of AEW Dynamite. Team Taz turned on Cage, which led to him feuding with the group. During their time together, Cage shared that his issues with Taz affected other members of the group.

He shared that he and Taz would critique each other, which led to disagreements. “…I don’t want to say we were butting heads, but it wasn’t working out and then it kind of fell through with everyone else,” said Cage.

While he didn’t have issues with Will Hobbs or Hook, he admitted that disagreements with Taz led to issues with Starks. “…I didn’t really butt that many heads with Will or Hook actually. It was more with Ricky trying to steal the spotlight and Taz kind of trying to live vicariously through me said,” Cage.

What’s Next for Cage

The feud with Team Taz seemed to have ended at AEW Rampage on October 8th. Starks defeated Cage in a rematch for the FTW Championship. While Cage is ready to move on from the feud, he doesn’t know what AEW has planned for him. He also made a case for him being the number one contender for the AEW World Championship, if Adam Page defeats Kenny Omega at Full Gear.

Regardless of AEW’s plans, Cage is looking forward to a fresh start after dealing with Team Taz.

Tony Khan Wants To Speak With Bray Wyatt At The Right Time

0

AEW President Tony Khan has big respect for Bray Wyatt and could see them working together at some point.

Wrestling fans were stunned upon receiving the news that Wyatt had been released by WWE. After all, Wyatt was in a main event role as The Fiend and is a former WWE Champion and a former two-time WWE Universal Champion.

Khan recently told the folks over at WFAN that he hasn’t spoken to Wyatt yet but he seemingly left the door open.

When speaking to the New York Post, Khan showed more optimism in a conversation with Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) taking place at some point in the future.

“Yeah. I really like Windham,” said Khan. “I know him a little bit and I really enjoy him. The last time I saw him was at Chris Jericho’s birthday party and that was a long time ago.”

Khan continued by heaping praise on the former WWE Superstar and could see them working together in the future.

“I like him as a person very much and he’s a really talented person. At the right time and place, sure I’d be interested to talk to him. I’m interested to talk to him in general because he’s a great person.”

Wyatt competed at WrestleMania 37 earlier this year, losing to Randy Orton. He appeared in a backstage segment on Monday Night Raw the following night. This marked his final appearance on WWE TV.

Many have speculated what kind of role Wyatt can be put in if he ends up signing with AEW. The most popular direction seems to be filling the late Brodie Lee’s shoes and taking over as the leader of The Dark Order.

Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen.

Molly Holly On Why She Pitched To Shave Her Hair At WrestleMania 20

0

Molly Holly had to shave her hair after losing her title vs. hair match against the then women’s champion Victoria at WrestleMania 20. According to the female star, she was the one who pitched the idea to WWE creative.

The WWE Hall Of Famer recently had an interview with Shoot Conversations. Reflecting on the match, she wished that they had a longer build for the bout.

Discussing the unique stipulation of their match, Holly revealed that she was the one who pitched the idea. She had to take the drastic measure because the alternative was not having a match at the show at all:

“It was just pretty much, they said they weren’t going to have a Women’s Title match at WrestleMania, they said there was no room for it. I was like, ‘drastic times call for drastic measures.'”

How Molly Holly Felt After Getting Approval

Molly Holly described how she made a plan and took photos of herself in a bald cap in hopes of convincing the management. She then recalled pitching the idea and revealed how she felt when it was approved:

“I think the photographs of me with the bald head helped. Like, ‘oh, this does look pretty dramatic.’ I pitched it and couldn’t believe that they were like, ‘yeah, that’ll work. I believe I walked into an office where there was like Stephanie, Vince, Brian Gewirtz, Ed Koskey, and a room full of people,”

The wrestling veteran later also described how she felt after getting her head shaved. She claimed that it was freeing. According to her, if completely shaving head was common for girls, it would be the hairstyle she would keep.

Tony Khan On What He Doesn’t Like About Twitter

0

The massive expansion of social media has given people a platform to share their thoughts freely. Though it also means that anyone can say whatever they want, without checking its accuracy. It’s the thing that Tony Khan dislikes the most. The AEW president recently appeared on My Mom’s Basement podcast. He confirmed the main event for the upcoming Full Gear PPV among other things.

Discussing what he doesn’t like about wrestling twitter, Khan said that anyone can spread a lie or make up a rumor and everyone takes it as a fact:

“The biggest thing is, somebody says something on wrestling Twitter that’s a lie or make a rumor up and then everybody takes it as fact as this one person made it up as truth. People run with it and there are a lot of things that have gotten traction. If you, you’re like, ‘that’s not true,’ but one person said it and you can almost track it back. There’s a lot of stuff that isn’t true.”

Though Tony Khan also discussed the flip side of this expansion. He explained how there are cases where obvious lies are easily debunked by people. Tony gave the example of Bruce Prichard claiming he didn’t know Kenny Omega until 2019 during a recent episode of his Something To Wrestle podcast:

“The flip side of it is, the wrestling side is, you have these people who tell these obvious things like I heard the other day Bruce [Prichard] was saying he had never heard of Kenny Omega in 2019. Then literally, they played a clip from 2018 and Bruce is talking very intricately about Kenny. So it’s like, give me a break, man,”

Tony Khan’s AEW will be presenting two big shows in Rampage on Friday and Dynamite on Saturday night this week. The AEW president is hoping to top SmackDown during their expected clash on Friday. He has made some big announcements for the show which you can check out here.

Adam Cole On Doing An Angle With Britt Baker In AEW

0

Adam Cole and AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker have been dating since 2017. With Cole now a member of the AEW roster, there is potential for them to be involved in a storyline together. Cole was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet and stated that he would be happy to take part in an angle involving both of them.

“I do love the idea of eventually doing something on-screen with Britt. I know I have been asked that before, and I know some people are like ‘Oh maybe you want to keep it separate’ or ‘Maybe you want to work together.’ I love the idea of that,” Cole said.

Cole and Baker’s relationship has come up on AEW programming, most notably when Cole dressed down Baker’s friend Tony Schiavone on-air.

Cole continued to say that he enjoyed working with Britt on the independent scene when they were briefly able to do so. Baker and Cole teamed together twice for Wrestle Circus in 2017.

“There was a small phase when I was done with Ring of Honor, where for like 3 months I was doing independent shows. I remember doing shows that she was also booked on, and in a couple of those matches we got to do some mixed tags, or she had run in or I had run in, it was really fun to work with her. Eventually, doing something like that on the big stage that is AEW, I’m all for it.”

On June 24th, 2017, Baker and Cole defeated the now-engaged team of Sami Callihan and Jessica Havok. They later defeated Roppongi Vice (Beretta & Rocky Romero) that August.

MLW War Chamber Match Announced For Nov. 6 Event

0

The headliner for the Nov. 6 MLW event in Philly has been revealed.

MLW has announced that Alex Hammerstone, EJ Nduka, Richard Holliday, and a mystery partner will be taking on CONTRA Unit (Jacob Fatu, Mads Krugger, Josef Samael & Ikuro Kwon) in a War Chamber Match.

What Is The War Chamber?

The War Chamber match is described by MLW as participants being, “locked in a carbon steel chamber with the perimeter of the top fortified with barbed wire, two teams of four will clash in combat that only the War Chamber can contain.”

Here are the rules of the War Chamber match.

  • A coin toss determines which team enters first.
  • 1-on-1 for 5:00 in stage 1 of the War Chamber.
  • The winner of coin toss comes out for 2-on-1.
  • Alternating teams have wrestlers enter every 2 minutes.
  • Once all combatants are in the War Chamber, victory is won by submission, surrender or pinfall.

History Between MLW World Champion Hammerstone & Jacob Fatu

The Nov. 6 MLW show will be held inside the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. “Your Boy Hammer” clearly has some unfinished business with Jacob Fatu and the rest of CONTRA. Hammerstone ended the 819-day MLW World Heavyweight Title reign of Fatu at FIGHTLAND.

Since Hammerstone is now the MLW World Heavyweight Champion, he was forced to relinquish the National Openweight Title. He held that championship for 866 days.

WWE Isn’t Holding December PPV This Year (Report)

0

It looks like WWE is ditching a December PPV this year.

Back in July, WWE announced that it would be holding a PPV event on New Year’s Day. The following month, it was revealed that the PPV will be called Day 1. It’ll be held inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting that Day 1 will take the place of a December PPV for WWE. This leaves WWE with two PPV events in the month of January. Royal Rumble will take place on Jan. 29 inside The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis.

Initial Plans For End-Of-The-Year PPV

WWE had plans in place for a PPV on Dec. 12 inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The company then wanted to have TLC take place on Dec. 19 at a location to be determined. It should be noted that the Dec. 17 episode of WWE SmackDown will be held inside Allstate Arena.

With WWE deciding against running a December PPV this year, Survivor Series will be the promotion’s final PPV event of 2021. That’ll be held inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Nov. 21.

nZo Teased For MLW Debut

0

nZo, the former Enzo Amore in WWE, is being teased as a new addition to the MLW roster. In MLW storyline, Cesar Duran (the former Dario Cueto from Lucha Underground) is the match-maker for the show. Duran stated this week that he is in talks with the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

The 34-year-old has been wrestling with the NEW (Northeast Wrestling) promotion as of late. The promotion regularly draws over a 1000 fans to its shows. Content from Northeast Wrestling’s shows are available on their YouTube channel here.

nZo was released from WWE in early 2018 after he was accused of sexual assault in Phoenix in October 2017. It was announced in May 2018 that the Phoenix Police Department had ceased their investigation due to insufficient evidence, however.

Along with his often partner William Morrissey, a.k.a. Big Cass, the two appeared at the G1 SuperCard in Madison Square Garden in 2019. It’s was played up as a worked shoot invasion angle, however Ring of Honor never followed up on the segment and the two never appeared in promotion again.

He debuted for Northeast Wrestling in June of 2019 and has been a regular for the promotion ever since.
