Chris Jericho Opens Up About Mark Henry Joining AEW

0

AEW have been successful in luring big name stars to the promotion for both in-ring and non-active roles. They don’t come much bigger than Mark Henry. The Olympian and wrestling legend walked out at AEW Double or Nothing to great applause. Henry looks set to be part of the team headlining the upcoming AEW Rampage show.

Another wrestling legend, Chris Jericho recently took some time out to talk about Mark Henry’s arrival and what it means for the locker room.

“I think any time we can have a guy with the experience of Mark Henry, both in the ring and outside the ring, it just helps our company. That’s one of the things we need, we needed very much when we first started. It was basically me and Dustin Rhodes and Dean Malenko as the guys who had some actual decades of experience on live TV.”

Speaking during the AEW Double or Nothing Media Scrum, Jericho was full of praise for Mark Henry, and the impact he would have on the locker room. The pair are old friends who go way back, having faced off against each other numerous times through the decades.

Mark Henry has recently spoken about his desire to have at least one more wrestling match, but only after he turns 50 later this month. With Paul Wight also signed as a part-time wrestler, there is every chance we could see them either team up or face off against each other. Either way, the younger talent in the AEW locker room just got a huge boost to their ongoing wrestling education.

Sheamus Reportedly Suffers Broken Nose On Raw

0

Sheamus who pulled double duty on this week’s episode of Raw suffered a gruesome injury during his second match on the show.

PWinsider provided some update on the United States champion’s condition after this week’s episode of Raw. The site notes that they have ‘100% confirmed’ that the Celtic Warrior has suffered a broken nose.

Though a testament to his toughness, the report claims that Sheamus will not require any time off to heal and he will only be out of action if the company requires him to sit out.

The former world champion pulled double duty on tonight’s episode of Raw and competed against both Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo in separate singles matches during the show.

Both these bouts were non-title matches but unfortunately for Sheamus; he lost both the matches due to Ricochet and Carrillo interfering in each other’s bouts.

The Irish star suffered the injury during his second match against Humberto. He took a stiff strike to the nose and got busted open. He started bleeding heavily due to the injury but the US champion still finished the match.

It’s possible that the company will keep him out of the WWE programming for a week or two to sell the injury. We will keep you posted on his status.

Anthony Ogogo On Why He Turned Down WWE Offer Despite More Money

0

Anthony Ogogo wrestled in the biggest match of his wrestling career against Cody Rhodes at the Double Or Nothing PPV. Even though he lost the bout, the heavyweight star received praise for his performance.

The former boxing star recently had an interview with The Sportster where he claimed that he was offered a contract by WWE as well but explained why he turned it down and signed with AEW instead.

Ogogo revealed that WWE was offering him more money than AEW. However, he still turned down their offer because he believes in Tony Khan’s vision for him:

“[WWE] offered me more money than AEW. I didn’t join them because I believe in Tony Khan’s vision. I believed in Cody Rhodes’ vision. I believe in AEW’s vision. I love being a part of AEW,”

Anthony Ogogo On The Difference Between WWE And AEW Management

Anthony Ogogo went on to explain that at AEW he feels like the management cares about their wrestlers. While at WWE, it was all about the money:

“I love how the team give a f**k about their wrestlers. If I’m going through a tough time in a minute, I’m getting texts from the management asking me if I’m okay daily. They care about the people rather than the money,

The other place, they seem to care about money first and people if at all. We care about other people first because they know that a happy workplace creates good stuff.”

Anthony Ogogo is a former Olympic boxer who had to retire after suffering a serious eye injury during a match in 2016.

He began his pro wrestling career in 2019. He was signed by AEW the same year as their first developmental wrestler.

Eva Marie References Reports About Her WWE Return

0

WWE has been teasing the return of Eva Marie for a while but some reports recently suggested that she might not be returning as an in-ring performer.

The female star seems to have taken note of the speculations about her comeback to the company and she recently responded to the reports on Twitter.

Marie posted her latest vignette and in the caption she wrote: “For the [clown emoji]’s who said I’m not coming back to wrestle! @wwe #EVALution #ALLEverything #WWERaw,”:

https://twitter.com/natalieevamarie/status/1399540758890180609?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

The company started airing promos for the All Red Everything’s return last month, confirming the long-lasting rumor that the former WWE star was preparing for a comeback.

However, the language in her promos made many wonder if Eva Marie would take on a managerial role instead of wrestling and a recent report on her status suggested the same.

Although now that the former NXT star has responded to the reports, it appears that she might be looking to make an in-ring return as well.

There is no word yet on when Eva Marie will make her in-person return to the WWE programming. It would be interesting to see what the company has actually planned for her comeback.

Tony Khan Comments On Lio Rush’s Contractual Status With AEW

0

AEW President Tony Khan talked to media after their successful Double Or Nothing event this Sunday. During the talk, he confirmed Lio Rush’s contractual status with his company.

The former WWE star made his AEW debut during the company’s latest PPV where he was revealed as the wild card entry in the casino battle royal.

Talking about the kind of deal they have, Khan revealed that Lio hasn’t signed any papers and the two parties are working on a handshake deal:

“I don’t have a pen to paper [deal], but Lio and I have a handshake [deal] that he can work here and do New Japan both, I think we have something good on a handshake, and I think he’s doing that on a handshake with New Japan too.”

Tony Khan then talked about the high flying star’s future with the company and said that he think Rush will come back. Though he revealed that Lio Rush has other commitments in the near future:

“I think he’s gonna come back. We’ll get to it, I’d like for Lio to come back. He’s also doing some stuff for New Japan, so he’s got some dates booked right now.

He was free for this, and I’m going to respect the calendar, so I’m not gonna go out and ask him to cancel indie dates to do stuff for us. And he’s got a pretty solid calendar, but he was free for this, and I wanted him to come.”

Apart from this, Tony Khan also revealed that he wanted to bring Lio Rush in for battle royal at All Out last year but the former NXT star was not free at the time.

Mansoor On What WWE Officials Have Told Him To Do After Raw Debut

0

Mansoor is the first Saudi Arabian wrestler to ever compete in WWE. The high-flying star also made his debut for the Raw brand earlier this month.

While he hasn’t made many appearances for the company since then, the 25-year-old is still working on himself behind the scenes and following an interesting suggestion from WWE officials.

During a recent interview with Arab News, Mansoor talked about his Raw debut against Sheamus. He interestingly revealed that WWE officials have since told him to put on some muscle mass:

One of the things WWE said is they would like me to put on some muscle mass, and right now I am working with Sheamus’ personal trainer, who has been really helpful. I am counting my macronutrients and calories,

And recording all of my reps and sets in the gym.” said Mansoor, “It is crazy how much difference writing stuff down and tracking it makes.”

Discussing his Raw debut, the young star claimed that the management was taking a look at him to see if he could perform at a level required for Raw. He was delighted to have an opportunity to wrestle Sheamus.

Mansoor lost a singles match to Sheamus during his Raw debut on the May 3 episode of the show. He hasn’t made a Raw appearance since then, though he did wrestle during the May 20 episode of Main Event where he defeated Cedric Alexander in a match.

Bianca Belair On Her Routine The Night Before A Big Match

0

Many superstars like to get focused and avoid a lot of interactions before their big matches but it’s the opposite for Bianca Belair, who likes to relax before a match.

The current SmackDown women’s champion recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated where she talked about things such as her WrestleMania win over Sasha Banks and more.

Discussing her routine a day before a big match, Blair mentioned how she gets anxious when she is nervous so she tries to stay calm. The female star revealed that she likes to have cheat meals before a match:

“So I embrace it. That reminds me I’m ready. And I’m usually making gear the night before. That keeps my mind occupied and ready and calm, especially with my husband right beside me.”

People do their cheat meals after their matches, but I have pizza the night before, that always helps relax me. Before the Royal Rumble, I picked up a pizza and stayed up all night and worked on my gear.”

Bianca Belair also opened up about her experience the day before her big WrestleMania 37 match against Sasha Banks. She revealed that it was her birthday and she had a big celebration:

“Since the night before WrestleMania was my birthday, it was the best birthday ever. I don’t know how I’ll ever top it. I saw all my family at the hotel, and my mom brought pizza. My gear took forever for WrestleMania, so I was working on that all night, and I ate some pizza and opened a few gifts.”

Apart from this, Bianca Belair also talked about things such as WWE’s return to touring, things she likes to travel with, and more. Belair won the Women’s Royal Rumble earlier this year. She then went on to defeat Sasha Banks for the SmackDown women’s championship at WrestleMania 37.

Britt Baker Talks Criticism Of AEW’s Women’s Division

0

Britt Baker picked up a big win at the Double Or Nothing PPV. Her victory was not only the culmination of her own journey to the top but it was also a response to the critics of the company’s women’s division.

During the post-Double Or Nothing media scrum, the new champion discussed how many people in the promotion have supported her and how the criticism has helped her get better as well.

Baker first admitted that it was hard to hear the criticism of her work. However, she explained that you have to have criticism if you want to get better:

“It’s just a growing and a learning process, and it’s hard. It’s hard to hear it in mass quantities, which I was. But you have to. Even if you’re the best in the business, you have to have criticism if you’re going to get better. I just happened to have a lot of it, so I got a lot better.”

Britt Baker On The Growth Of Their Women’s Division

Apart from this, Britt Baker discussed how AEW women’s division as a whole has been a target of criticism from the fans but now people have started praising them because they have experienced their growth:

“The division as a whole, I think most of the criticism, at the time, was the TV time. None of us, almost none of us had any TV experience. We were all learning and growing together as a division in front of your eyes.

And I think that’s kind of a bit our charm and why people are jumping on the bandwagon now. Cause it’s like ‘oh man, I remember when Britt Baker couldn’t hold a microphone. And now look at her.’ So I think that’s why a lot of people are along for the ride.”

Britt Baker also talked about how Tony Khan believed in her when nobody else did and how people like Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and others have helped her in getting better.

The role model defeated Hikaru Shida in a one-on-one match via submission at the Double Or Nothing PPV. She ended Shida’s year-long reign to become the new AEW women’s champion.

The Miz and John Morrison kicked off RAW with an episode of Miz TV. The Miz welcomed himself back and apologized for the zombie Lumberjack match at WrestleMania Backlash. The Miz noted that he was injured during that match but had to return to RAW because WWE is getting ready to go back on the road and he knows the fans want to see him live in person.

Charlotte Flair made her way to the ring and smelled something in the air. Morrison said that he was wearing garlic to help protect them from the zombies. Charlotte pretended to laugh at their jokes before calling them idiots. Flair vowed to send Rhea Ripley to hell and take the RAW Women’s Championship at the PPV.

RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley interrupted and said that Charlotte can go to hell. Ripley said she was going to beat Flair at Hell in a Cell and Charlotte joked that the champion couldn’t even defeat Nikki Cross last week. Nikki Cross’ theme hit and she apologized for interrupting.

Nikki said she defeated the champ last week and that it would be fair if she faced the winner of the Charlotte vs. Rhea match. Charlotte stated that if life was fair, she would be the RAW Women’s Champion right now. Charlotte then claimed that she could beat Nikki in a minute as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Flair faced Nikki in a Beat the Clock challenge with two minutes on the clock. Nikki rolled out of the ring right away and mocked Flair. Nikki then hid behind Ripley until Charlotte finally caught up to her with thirty seconds left. Charlotte couldn’t get the Figure Four locked in and the time expired.

Orton def. Xavier Woods

Xavier Woods squared off against Randy Orton tonight on RAW. Before the match, Orton brought up Riddle using the RKO and Riddle apologized. Riddle said he didn’t know what came over him and he just did it out of nowhere. Orton told Riddle that he watched his match against Woods and was impressed. Randy added that there are a few things to work on and if they are going to do this tag team thing, they are going to do it right. Orton then invited Riddle to be ringside for his match.

Orton dominated the action early and bounced Woods’ face off the announce table several times as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Woods connected with a kick to Orton’s head and followed it up with an elbow. Woods planted Orton with a DDT and went for the cover but Randy was able to kick out at two.

Randy hit Woods with a cheap shot as the referee wasn’t looking and followed it up with a Powerbomb for a near fall. Orton set up for the draping DDT and demanded that Riddle watch. Woods escaped and locked in an Armbar but Orton reached the ropes to break the hold.

Orton then connected with the draping DDT and set up for the RKO. Woods countered with a kick but Orton responded with a Bro Derek. Orton winked at Riddle and covered Woods for the victory. After the match, Riddle celebrated and elated that Orton used his finisher.

Reginald def. Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler faced Reginald tonight on RAW. Before the match, Reginald told Nia Jax that he does not need her help tonight and can handle Baszler by himself. Reginald kissed Nia’s hand and made his way down to the ring. Shayna dominated early and focused her attack on Reginald’s knee.

Shayna applied an Ankle Lock but Reginald escaped and sent Baszler to the turnbuckle. Reginald hit an awkward looking Splash/Crossbody and followed it up with a Moonsault. Reginald grabbed his injured knee and Baszler capitalized with the Kirifuda Clutch. The ring post exploded and Reginald capitalized with a roll-up for the victory. Reginald was then shown backstage with a happy Nia Jax following the match and Shayna was pissed.

Mace & T-Bar Picked Up A Win

Mace and T-Bar squared off against Lucha House Party (Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik) tonight. T-Bar beat Dorado down in the corner of the ring to start off the action. Dorado escaped and locked in a Sleeper Hold. T-Bar quickly broke the hold by slamming Lince into the turnbuckle and Gran Metalik tagged in.

Metalik hit a Splash but Mace tagged in and connected with a Suplex for a near fall. Dorado knocked Mace out of the ring and went for a Suicide Dive but Mace countered into a slam on the floor. T-Bar hit Metalik with a boot to the face and tagged in Mace. They hit High Justice for the pinfall victory.

Ricochet & Humberto Carrillo Pinned The US Champ

United States Champion Sheamus boasted about being the champ and said he cannot wait to bring the title back on the road. Sheamus joked that Humberto Carrillo and Ricochet should just be given participation trophies because that is the closest thing they will get to gold. Sheamus rolled footage of them attacking him last week and said that they didn’t look like they were championship material.

Sheamus added that he “created” the Open Challenge to find a worthy foe and Ricochet & Carrillo are not worthy to lace his boots. He said he will not face them 2-on-1, but will face them each back to back. Sheamus vowed to send them both back to catering.

Sheamus faced Ricochet first and quickly hit a knee to the face. Ricochet tried to battle back but Sheamus leveled him with a Clothesline. Humberto’s theme hit and Ricochet capitalized with a roll-up for the pinfall victory.

Sheamus then faced Humberto Carrillo and Ricochet was ringside. Sheamus beat Carrillo down for the first couple minutes and planted him with an Irish Curse Backbreaker. Sheamus followed it up with 10 Beats of the Bodhran and sent Carrillo to the corner. Carrillo avoided a charging Sheamus and the Celtic Warrior crashed into the steel ring post.

Naomi connected with a TKO for a two count. The action broke down and there were a couple botches. Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke eventually took control and hit a double Blockbuster on Lana for the pinfall victory. After the match, the Women’s Tag Team Champions raised the titles and trash talked with Dana and Mandy.

Cedric Alexander def. Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin faced Cedric Alexander again tonight on RAW. Shelton hit a boot to the face right away but Cedric shrugged it off and poked Benjamin in the eye. Alexander hit the Neutralizer for the easy pinfall win.

AJ Styles & Omos Retained

AJ Styles & Omos put the RAW Tag Team Championships on the line against Jaxson Ryker & Elias. Elias attacked Styles right away and beat him down in the corner of the ring. Styles battled back and connected with a Suplex for a near fall. Styles followed it up with another Suplex and Ryker tagged in.

Styles rolled out of the ring and tripped Elias off the apron. AJ launched Ryker out of the ring and hit him with a Dropkick knocking him back to the floor as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Ryker connected with a Suplex on AJ for a near fall. Styles took control and Ryker looked for a tag but Elias pulled his arm back.

Elias then hopped off the apron and to the floor and smiled as Omos beat Ryker down. Omos hit a Clothesline and tagged in Styles. AJ connected with the Phenomenal Forearm for the pinfall victory. Elias was interviewed backstage and said that we are close to going back on the road and the idea of traveling with Ryker made him sick.

Baszler Attacked Reginald In Alexa’s Playground

Alexa Bliss was sitting on her swing with Lilly beside her. Reginald showed up and sat next to Bliss on the other swing. Alexa promised Reginald that she wouldn’t bite but couldn’t guarantee the same for Lilly. Bliss congratulated Reginald on his victory and then said Lilly wanted to know about his time in Cirque du Soleil. Shayna attacked Reginald before he could answer and Alexa told Baszler that Lilly didn’t invite her to the playground today.

Shayna told Bliss that she is becoming a problem and that Alexa just witnessed how she handles problems. Shayna told Bliss that she will see her next week and leaned next to Lilly. Baszler said it was just a stupid doll and walked away. Alexa looked at Lilly and then looked at Shayna with a crazy look on her face to end the segment.

Drew McIntyre Will Face Lashley At Hell In A Cell

Kofi Kingston faced Drew McIntyre in the main event of this week’s episode of RAW. The winner of the match will go on to face Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell in three weeks. Lashley was shown partying with MVP and a bunch of models throughout the night. MVP said he cannot wait to see who will be the loser at Hell in a Cell and added that he can respect McIntyre & Kofi for their stories but not as wrestlers. Lashley noted that he has already beaten both of them and vowed to retain at the PPV.

McIntyre sent Kingston to the corner and unloaded some strikes to start off the action. Kingston escaped and tried to roll up Drew a couple times but McIntyre was able to kick out. McIntyre connected with a chop that knocked Kingston to the canvas. Kofi battled back and knocked McIntyre out of the ring. Kingston leaped onto McIntyre and posed as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, McIntyre connected with the Glasgow kiss and followed it up with a Suplex for a two count. Drew went for another Suplex but Kofi countered into a roll-up for a near fall. Kingston hit a springboard Splash for another near fall. Kingston hit SOS and went for the cover but McIntyre was able to kick out again. Back from the commercial break, McIntyre planted Kingston with a massive Spinebuster for a near fall. Kingston and McIntyre then battled to the apron and Kofi hit Trouble in Paradise. Kofi climbed to the top and leaped but McIntyre caught him with a Claymore for the pinfall victory. Drew McIntyre will face Lashley for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell.

Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre Booked For WWE Hell In A Cell

0

The trilogy bout between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre is now official for the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

On last Monday’s episode of Raw, the opening segment saw McIntyre interrupt Lashley’s promo where he addressed losing to Kofi Kingston last week thanks to a distraction from McIntyre.

This segment eventually led to McIntyre talking about how he wants another shot at Lashley to reclaim the WWE Title. Kingston made his way out and talked about why he should get it instead while bringing up his win over Lashley.

WWE authority figure Adam Pearce came out to booked McIntrye vs. Kingston in the first match of the night with the winner getting Lashley with the WWE Title on the line at Hell in a Cell.

The match ended in a no contest finish when Lashley got involved. McIntyre cleared the ring. Thus, they booked a rematch between Kingston and McIntyre one week later.

McIntyre ended up winning the bout with the Claymore Kick and will now face Lashley for the third time. Lashley successfully retained the WWE Title over McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 and at WrestleMania Backlash.

WWE presents the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from Tampa, Florida at Yuengling Center that will air on Peacock.

WWE Hall Of Famer Backstage At Raw For Tryout As Producer

0

WWE decided to bring Molly Holly to Monday’s Raw TV event from the Yuengling Center in Tampa so she could have a tryout as a producer.

PWinsider.com added that there is talk that she may be re-hired by the company to work behind the scenes.

Holly was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class earlier this year.

Holly got her start in the business in 1997 before having a short run in WCW from 1999-2000. She joined WWE in 2000 where she worked as Lady Ophelia for dark matches and while valeting for William Regal. She got the Molly Holly name later that year when she was part of the Holly Cousins with Crash and Bob Holly. From 2001-2002, she was paired with The Hurricane as Mighty Molly. After that, she was booked as a singles star until her departure in 2005.

During her time with WWE, she held the Hardcore Title twice and the Women’s Title once. Many people consider her to be a pioneer for women’s wrestling as she was known as a good in-ring worker in a time where WWE signed models with no previous wrestling experience.

Holly did work as a trainer at Ken Anderson’s The Academy wrestling school in Minnesota alongside Shawn Daivari until the school went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cody Rhodes Teases New Titles In AEW

0

During a recent media call to promote Double or Nothing, Cody Rhodes teased that there could be new title belts coming to AEW. Rhodes confirmed there are no plans to rename the TNT belt with the move to TBS, but did note that there could be a new set of team-based titles coming to the promotion soon.

“The TBS title has not been discussed yet, but another title as a lot of people can guess has been the title that has been more discussed about potentially coming in the future,” Rhodes teased (transcriptions via Wrestling Inc.) “I’ll let y’all speculate on what that is. Hint hint, we have a lot of people, teams, on the roster.”

AEW has hinted that trios titles could be coming to the promotion previously.

Rhodes continued to talk about the origins of the TNT title and why it is his favorite in all of wrestling.

“Remember the origins of the TNT Title was WarnerMedia, our television partner and provider, was the one that wanted us to have it,” Rhodes continued. “That was a first in all of wrestling, for your partner in the space to say, ‘We’d like you to represent us,’ which is why we’ll keep it the TNT Title throughout its time. It’s my favorite belt in all of wrestling.”

Tony Khan On What NJPW Said About Promo On Nick Khan

0

Tony Khan addressed reports of negotiations between WWE and NJPW recently in a pre-event promo to the live crowd before Dynamite on Friday night.

There is room for only room for one Khan in the wrestling business,” Tony Khan said before the show. “It’s me, Tony Khan, not some con man from Connecticut.”

During the post-event media scrum from Double or Nothing last night, Khan revealed that he spoke to NJPW before cutting that promo to ask if they thought it was a good idea.

“I talked to New Japan and I asked them if they thought it would be a good idea and a good promo. They thought it was great and I thought it would be a great promo,”  Khan said (transcriptions via Fightful).

Khan continued to tease that there are big things coming regarding the relationship between his company and New Japan.

“It made sense. It was a big weekend for us and it’s true, we have a lot of stuff going with New Japan. Everyone is welcome to talk to each other and we’ve done some great stuff with New Japan just in the last few weeks and I think we’re going to do a lot of great things going forward with everything we’ve talked about and agreed to. I’m excited about it.”

NJPW has a Road to Dominion event tomorrow. The show will be headlined by the Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) defending the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team titles against Dangerous Tekkers, Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi.

Update On Lio Rush’s Contract Status

0

Lio Rush was the surprise entrant into AEW’s Casino Battle Royale last night at Double or Nothing. Rush’s contract status was addressed after the event on an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

“Lio Rush actually has signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling,” said Dave Meltzer on the show. He continued to talk about if we will see more of Rush in AEW.

“He would be in Japan a lot except he can’t go but I didn’t know that,” Meltzer continued. “New Japan obviously have allowed him to do the show, so essentially he’s a New Japan guy. He may work more shows with AEW but he’s not like signed by AEW nor will he be signed by AEW, he’s a New Japan guy.”

Rush recently made it to the semi-finals of a tournament on New Japan Strong to determine the first-ever New Japan Strong Openweight Champion. He was defeated by Brodie King who would eventually be eliminated in the finals by champion, Tom Lawlor.

Rush has also been competing in MLW as of late as well. He won and then lost the MLW World Middleweight Championship to Myron Reed of the Injustice faction in recent months.

The 26-year-old spent from 2017 to 2020 with WWE. He’s a former 1x NXT Cruiserweight Champion in the promotion.

Hager and Wardlow then traded punches backstage. Wardlow bounced Hager off a wall and tried to lock him in a freezer. Wardlow hit Hager with some containers before Jake shoved him into the freezer. Wardlow tried to hit Hager with an icepick but Jake blocked it. Hager beat Wardlow down and the two battled out of the freezer. Inner Circle flipped the bird in the ring as pyro went off to close Double or Nothing.

Opinion: The Stadium Stampede match was fun but it took too long for the action to get to Daily’s Place in my opinion. The live crowd was adding so much to this show and there was a lull during the first portion of Stadium Stampede as they battled in TIAA Bank Field. There were still several fun moments and the energy really picked up when they arrived in Daily’s Place. Overall, Double or Nothing was a very entertaining show. The low point was Rhodes vs. Ogogo but every other match delivered and the four hour show flew by.

Kenny Omega Survives Three-Way Bout To Retain World Title At AEW Double Or Nothing

0

AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega made his latest title defense against not just one competitor but two wrestlers in the way of PAC and Orange Cassidy in a triple threat match at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.

The match had a typical layout of a triple threat match with all three stars having their moments to shine. The end of the match was a bit overbooked due to outside interference with Don Callis saving Omega, the champion using the title, a second referee coming out, and more. Omega rolled up Cassidy for the win.

All Elite Wrestling set up this match back on the May 12th edition of Dynamite by booking a number one contender’s match as PAC took on Cassidy. The back and forth match saw it end in a double count-out. As a result, both stars earned the right to challenge Omega for the top prize in the promotion.

Omega will make his next title defense as Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion against Moose at next month’s Against All Odds special that will air on Impact Plus.

He will also make a title defense at the Slammiversary pay-per-view event in July against an unknown competitor. It was originally believed that Omega would face Eddie Edwards at Slammiversary, but he just underwent appendix surgery and will be out for three months.

Sting did work a cinematic match alongside Allin against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Jacksonville, Florida this past March. It was taped in advance and there was a ring set up in an abandoned warehouse.

AEW All Out Date & Location Announced

0

All Elite Wrestling has confirmed the date and location for its next pay-per-view event, All Out, as it will take place on Sunday, September 5th in Chicago, Illinois. The venue wasn’t confirmed, but it’s likely to be held at the Sears Centre Arena.

The promotion announced the news during Sunday’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event, which was the first big show to have a full crowd in attendance from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement came after Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast noted on Twitter earlier in the day that All Elite Wrestling would announce the news.

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed earlier this week on the AEW Unrestricted podcast that the women’s Casino Battle Royale will return at All Out.

This marks the only match to be announced for the show thus far because it is still a few months away. There’s still no word yet on the exact competitors for it. AEW hasn’t held the women’s Casino Battle Royale since the 2019 All Out show that was won by Nyla Rose.

AEW will be returning to live event touring on July 7th for its Dynamite event from James L. Knight Center in Miami. Going forward, AEW will be on the road every week.

All Elite Wrestling held its Casino Battle Royale with the winner guaranteed to get a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Title at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.

Those who competed in the match included Griff Garrison, Brian Pillman, 10, Stu Grayson, Nick Comoroto, Serpentico, Lee Johnson, Dustin Rhodes, Anthony Bowens, Max Caster, Penta El Zero Miedo, Isiah Kassidy, Marq Quen, Matt Sydal, Christian Cage, Matt Hardy, Powerhouse Hobbs, Evil Uno, Colt Cabana, Jungle Boy, and Aaron Solow. Lio Rush was revealed as the mystery participant.

Cage, Sydal, Hobbs, Rhodes and Caster were the first 5 entrants. Sydal and Caster were the first two eliminations. Rush was quickly eliminated by Hardy.  The final 5 were Hardy, Private Party, Cage, and Jungle Boy. The final two were Cage and Jungle Boy, which saw Jungle Boy emerge victoriously.

Rush was released from WWE last year along with several other wrestlers due to budget cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic but continued his career by working for MLW and now AEW.

One name missing from this match was Rey Fenix and that’s due to him being on the sidelines with undisclosed injuries. It’s believed that he suffered the injuries from a recent match in Mexico. It’s also unknown how long he’ll be out.

Time will tell when AEW has this star challenge for the AEW World Heavyweight Title. On this same show, Kenny Omega defended the top prize in the promotion against Orange Cassidy and PAC in a triple threat match.

The Young Bucks Retain AEW Tag Team Titles At Double Or Nothing

0

The Young Bucks put the AEW Tag Team Championships on the line when they battled former AEW World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston.

As seen at Sunday’s (May 30, 2021) AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place, the match had some brawling even before it started.

The Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver to Moxley on the rampway and he was busted open on his forehead. At one point, Moxley locked in a rear-naked choke to Matt, but Nick hit a 450 splash to Moxley for a near fall. The finish saw Moxley take 4 BTE Triggers to drop the loss for his team.

Back on the May 19th edition of Dynamite, Kingston and Moxley laid out The Young Bucks after they successfully defended the titles against The Varsity Blonds. Moxley and Kingston put them down with stereo sleeper holds then took off the Bucks’ Dior shoes and took them.

The Young Bucks previously defended the titles on pay-per-view was against Chris Jericho and MJF at the AEW Revolution event this past March. Last November, the Bucks won the tag team titles from FTR at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event last November.

Sting Talks About the One Match He Wanted in WWE

0

The icon, Sting has had a career resurgence since signing with AEW. Finding himself back home on TNT, the place he owned for so many years working with WCW.

However, in a recent interview speaking about his time with WWE, Sting claimed that he would have stayed retired had WWE given him one match in particular. A match the entire wrestling world would have loved to see. Two locker room icons squaring off for the very first time.

All Sting wanted was a match against The Undertaker. The biggest first time, last time, only time since Lawrence Taylor beat Bam Bam Bigelow.

In an interview with SI.com, Sting claims he would not have felt the need to come back had he gotten that one match.

“I wanted that to happen. I was very clear publicly, and I was very clear with WWE, as well. I wanted my last hurrah against Taker. For whatever reason, it just never materialized. To this day, I don’t know why. Maybe Taker never wanted to work with me. I have no idea. I mean, I’ve had good conversations with Taker and we’ve always got along. I don’t know why the match never happened, but it should have happened. Because it wasn’t going to happen, and I knew it, and that wasn’t the only reason why I left WWE, but it’s one of the reasons why I left. I wanted that one last match.”

We may never know why Sting versus The Undertaker never happened. It would have been a great match twenty years ago, and it would have been a great match for two phenoms to end their respective careers with.

Wither way, AEW fans win, because Sting is back, and he still has a point to prove.
