Bayley Comments On Not Wrestling At WrestleMania This Year

0

Bayley did not have a match at WrestleMania this year. After having been on top of the Smackdown women’s division for much of 2020, she found herself outside the title picture and without a major storyline heading into the biggest show of the year. Bayley did, however, perform in a few segments at WrestleMania, including with the recently inducted WWE Hall-of-Famers, the Bella Twins.

She recently spoke about the experience during an interview with SI.com.

“You always want that match, or title match, or main event, but now I can say I’ve done something else at WrestleMania. I’ve defended the Raw title, I’ve defended the SmackDown title, I’ve defended the tag titles with Sasha, I’ve been in the battle royal, and now I can say I hosted with Hulk Hogan and Titus O’Neil, I was on stage with the NWO and got thrown off the stage by the Bellas. It’s cool when you look back on it, even though [not having a match] is a little salt in my wound.”

Bayley also noted that she saw people online were upset she wasn’t on the show.

“I could go on Twitter and see my name trending with people upset that I didn’t have a match, and it’s nice that people recognized how much work I’ve put in,” she continued. “After all the names I’ve called them, the fans still had my back.”

Later on in the interview, Bayley said she wants to be the wrestler that WWE can rely on for a variety of situations.

“I want to be the one the company can rely on to make anything great,” Bayley continued. “A match, a talk show, a 30-second backstage, a promo, a five-minute match—whatever it is, I’m going to make it different and exciting. You’ll never see some cookie-cutter version. I’m going to make it me.”

Bayley’s next big match will take place Sunday night at WrestleMania Backlash. She will challenge Bianca Belair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship on the show.

Update On WWE’s Planned Return To Live Events & Touring

0

AEW recently announced that they plan on running live Dynamite shows with fans in cities outside of Jacksonville beginning in July. According to a recent report from the Mat Men podcast, WWE is planning on doing the exact same thing. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is also reporting the news.

According to the report, either the July 16th edition of Smackdown or the July 19th edition of RAW could be the first outside of the Thunderdome.

WWE President Nick Khan said during a recent investors call that “there would be no turning back” once the company returned to touring. The inference being that once they return to events with live fans, they will not be going back to a Thunderdome experience.

AEW Not Running Events At Capacity?

Also concerning the return of live fans to wrestling events, fans online are noting that AEW tickets for recently announced live events are not being sold at capacity. Rather, social distancing appears to still be taking place inside these venues. This is the case despite the events being held in Texas and Florida. AEW recently announced a return to touring beginning July 7th.

The Twitter account “All Elite Wrestling Ticket Information” has been providing updates online:

Some AEW EVPs Reportedly No Longer On Speaking Terms

0

There are several reports that have come out recently which are stating that things backstage in AEW have hit a significantly rough patch.

Wade Keller of PWTorch noted on a recent podcast that certain members of ‘The Elite’ are no longer on speaking terms.

“There’s gonna a book written someday by some of these EVP’s or someone else closely observing and we’re gonna learn about a lot of dysfunction,” Keller said. “We’re gonna learn what a very short honeymoon period there was between certain key people in the company, who aren’t even talking to each other anymore.”

Keller is convinced that the situation is so volatile, it’s only a matter of time before specific details are made public.

“I think we’re gonna find that out,” he continued. “I know there are people in other wrestling companies saying The Bucks and Cody and Kenny it’s not gonna be long at all before they want to have nothing to do with each other. The honeymoon period is going to be short.”

AEW Infighting Turning Off Talent

Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net reports that there’s a major free agent, a “difference-making” star, that is hesitant to sign with AEW due to this reported infighting.

“There’s a would-be difference maker who could go there that has that opinion that there’s all this in-fighting and this person for that reason is hesitant to go there,” he said.

Adding further credence to the reports, Brian Last of the Jim Cornette Experience podcast also alluded to heated emails being exchanged between Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. He also alluded to Cody Rhodes’ absence from BTE as being related to conflict amongst AEW management.

Havok To Face Deonna Purrazzo For Knockouts Title At Under Siege

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7ExYgbg4zI

Former Knockouts champions Rosemary and Havok met in singles action to kick off the show this week. The winner of this match would move on to face current Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo at Under Siege. Havok knocked off Rosemary with a tombstone piledriver in what could be considered a mild upset.

After the match, Purrazzo hit the ring and tried to soften up her challenger for Under Siege. Havok fought back, however, and forced Purrazzo to retreat. As she did so she ran into Rosemary and the other members of Decay who promptly tossed her back into the ring. Kimber Lee and Susan tried to help but Taurus growled at them and they ran away. Back in the ring, Havok gave Purrazzo a tombstone and stood tall to end the segment.

El Phantasmo To Challenge For The X-Division Title At Under Siege

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sltxmjZQKWU

The newly arrived 2x Super J-Cup winner, El Phantasmo wrestled in just his second match in Impact Wrestling this week, and qualified for an X-Division title shot in the process. ELP came out of this 6-way scramble match the winner and will now face Josh Alexander for the title at Under Siege. Earlier in the match, ELP was hit with a Canadian Destroyer from Williams but later in the match, he would reverse that same move into a double-underhook slam that I believe he calls the CR II or Canadian Revolution II for the win.

W. Morrissey Attacks Willie Mack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zGH5jCEcUo

Willie Mack put away Sam Beale with a frog splash in the night’s 3rd contest. After the match, however, he was attacked by his opponent at Under Siege, W. Morrissey, the former Big Cass. He took him out with a short-arm clothesline followed by a big boot. Morrissey then stood tall to end the segment.

Tenille Dashwood Doesn’t Understand How Talk Shows Work

Tenille Dashwood hosted her “All About Me” segment this week with Taylor Wilde as her guest. Dashwood seems to believe that her guests should ask her questions during these interviews, however. Instead, Wilde just explained that she will team with Dashwood at Under Siege to get even with Kimber Lee and Susan but her ultimate goal is to get the Knockouts title. Dashwood comically misunderstood all of this and still couldn’t understand why Wilde wasn’t asking her any questions.

Kenny Omega Interferes In Karl Anderson vs David Finlay Match

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gjRVVSmmg4

Karl Anderson and David Finlay faced off in singles action this week. The match came after Doc Gallows defeated Juice Robinson in singles competition on last week’s show. This week, however, Omega decided to break up the match as Finlay had Anderson locked in a deathlock submission hold. The two trios teams that will face off at Under Siege then brawled inside the ring with Eddie Edwards clearing the Elite away with his kendo stick.

Brian Myers Defeats Crazzy Steve, Gored By Taurus

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGQAD3dea6A

After getting into a backstage altercation with the members of Decay last week, “The Most Professional Wrestler” Brian Myers faced Crazzy Steve in singles action this week. Myers would pick up the victory by using the ropes for leverage during a pin attempt. After the match, however, Myers would be gored by Black Taurus (who he’ll face at Under Siege) and left laying in the ring as the members of Decay stood over him. Rosemary then placed the “card of death” on top of Myers to end the segment.

Sami Callihan Picks Up Victory For Heel Team Ahead of Under Siege 6-Way

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmOMBTlV6HQ

At Under Siege this weekend, Kenny Omega’s next challenger will be determined in a 6-way match between  Chris Bey vs. Matt Cardona vs. Chris Sabin vs. Sami Callihan vs. Moose vs. Trey Miguel. In a trios tag match that main event’ed this week’s Impact, Callihan picked up the victory for his team with a package piledriver on Trey Miguel. The Elite were shown in the back and Don Callis seemed concerned at the threat that Callihan might pose to Omega should he win the 6-way at Under Siege.

Under Siege Lineup

Below are the matches scheduled for Saturday’s Under Siege event:

  • Kenny Omega & The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) vs. Eddie Edwards & FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson)

Shawn Spears Explains Reasoning Behind Decision To Leave WWE

0

Shawn Spears’ decision to leave WWE was a tough one for him not only because he was leaving the job security to explore the indie wrestling world but because his wife Peyton Royce still worked for the promotion at the time as well.

During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, the former WWE star talked about a number of things and also explained the reasoning behind his decision to leave the promotion.

Spears first mentioned how there were a lot of things that could have kept him in WWE but he would have regretted not taking a shot at himself and that made him take the leap of faith.

Shawn Spears: It’s Not About The Money

“If I didn’t leave and take a shot on myself and see what I was at least capable of, in 30-40 years down the road, I was going to say I should have. I knew that that’s what I was going to do.

I was going to look back on this time and go, ‘Damn it, I should have took a shot on myself.’ And I’m a big believer in – the worst feeling in the world is probably regret. And there’s nothing… At a time where you can’t do anything about it.”

The chairman of AEW also said that it was not about the money or being in the main event. According to him, it boils down to waking up every day and being excited for the work.

Things worked out well for Shawn Spears in the end. He signed with AEW not long after leaving WWE where he has recently joined MJF’s Pinnacle stable.

Sammy Guevara On The Reports Of His Dispute With Impact Officials

0

Sammy Guevara made some headlines earlier this year due to reports of his dispute with Impact Wrestling officials over his refusal to work some matches for the promotion back in February.

There were a lot of rumors and speculations floating around at the time and the AEW star addressed the incident during his recent interview with WrestlingInc.

Guevara was asked about the various reports about the dispute and replying to it, the young star said that the stuff that came out was only coming from one side:

“You know a lot of stuff was said, but it’s just business at the end of the day, I know I didn’t really say nothing out there, and all this stuff [reports] that came out was only coming from one side. Some of it wasn’t true; I really don’t want to comment too much on it.”

Though he didn’t elaborate on the situation further and Sammy Guevara ended the conversation around the topic by saying that he still wishes everyone the best:

“It was what it was, and I still wish everyone the best. We’re all friends and we’re just all trying to succeed at the end of the day.”

Apart from this, Sammy Guevara also talked about things such as Kenny Omega capturing the Impact world title, Young Bucks’ new attitude and more.

Randy Orton On The Most Uncomfortable Thing He Has Done In His Career

0

Randy Orton has been one of the top heels of WWE for almost 2 decades now. He has done some nasty things as part of his character on TV in this time which sometimes have made even The Viper uncomfortable.

While recently appearing on The Kurt Angle Show, the Legend Killer opened up about such moments from his career and revealed which one of them made him the most uncomfortable.

Orton talked about the promo he cut on Eddie Guerrero after his death. Randy had said that the late legend was not in heaven and he was actually in hell and he admitted not being comfortable with the line:

“[I was] 100% was not comfortable with it, Rey assured me that it’s something that Eddie would’ve wanted. Even still, Rey and myself went to Vickie and Vickie gave us her blessing

She said the same thing ‘Eddie would’ve wanted to help you guys in this manner. If he could’ve used his death in some way to help the business, he would’ve wanted us to do it, especially with Rey being involved.’”

Randy Orton later acknowledged that the storyline helped his career, but he still puts that promo on top of the list of things that have made him uncomfortable:

“There’s a lot of things I’ve done in my career that have made me uncomfortable, I think we can all agree on that individually, but that in particular was something I’d put at the top of that list.”

Randy Orton was involved in a feud with Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle in 2006 only months after the passing of Eddie Guerrero in November 2005. This feud led to a match among the three at WrestleMania 22 where Rey Mysterio defeated both the stars and won the world title.

Bayley On Who Will Win 2021 Money In The Bank

0

Former SmackDown women’s champion Bayley recently had an interview with SportsKeeda where she talked about the upcoming Money In The Bank event.

The female star has some experience when it comes to winning Money In The Bank as she won the bout in 2019 and successfully cashed in her briefcase on Charlotte Flair to become the women’s champion.

During the interview, she was asked about this year’s edition of the PPV. When asked who she thinks is going to win the bout, Bayley picked up the members of the Riott Squad:

“Oh man, that’s hard, but I’m gonna have to go with either one of the Riott Squad, or two. Both of them. Maybe they could share it. They are best friends right.”

Bayley also talked about her own Money In The Bank win and how she didn’t get to carry the briefcase for long as she cashed it in on the same night.

The former champion admitted that she would have loved to carry the contract around for a while and tease people about a potential cash in.

Money In The Bank this year is expected to take place from the ThunderDome in Yuengling Center, Tampa, FL on June 20 and the build for it will begin after the Backlash event.

Rumor Killer On Brock Lesnar – AEW Speculations

0

Brock Lesnar has been away from WWE for over a year now and many were surprised that he wasn’t even brought in for a match at WrestleMania 37.

Since his contract with the company has expired as well, many have been wondering if AEW officials could be interested in bringing him in but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Lesnar’s status was discussed on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio and it was noted that there has been no talk of the former champion joining the AEW roster.

Brock Lesnar: Top Free Agent

We have seen stars like Jon Moxley and Paul Wight jumping ships to AEW and anything is possible in pro wrestling but as of now, there is no indication of the Beast Incarnate changing sides.

Brock Lesnar was last seen on WWE programming during the WrestleMania 36 event from the Performance Center where he defended the WWE championship against Drew McIntyre and lost.

There have been multiple rumors about his return since then but so far the company has decided not to use the former world champion in any angle in the absence of fans.

WWE officials have said that the company plans to start touring again in the second half of 2021. So Lesnar’s return at SummerSlam is a strong possibility but we will have to wait and see if it actually happens.

Sean Waltman On WWE’s Reaction To The Blood and Guts Match

0

The WWE management had a very interesting response to the Blood and Guts match from AEW and now Sean Waltman has revealed his thoughts on the reaction from the company officials.

On the latest episode of Pro Wrestling 4 Life podcast, the former WWE star sat down with MLW owner Court Bauer and MLW World Champion Jacob Fatu and discussed a number of things.

Reacting to the reports that WWE officials believed the Blood and Guts match set the business back 30 years; Waltman explained that they might have been talking about the sponsors:

“When you first told me about the reaction from them, I was like, ‘Really?’ But maybe if you’re just talking about dealing with sponsors because there’s big-time corporate sponsors involved in wrestling these days, well, WWE, and so I guess I can understand why they might feel that way because wrestling gets painted with a very broad brush.”

Though when asked about the complaints from some that the match was too violent, Sean Waltman replied negatively while also explaining that wrestling does not belong to any one company:

“No, but who am I to say? Some people like that, there’s a place for a lot of things. Wrestling doesn’t belong to any one company.”

While the WWE management was not happy with the Blood and Guts match, the talent had a different reaction and many stars expressed their interest in doing something similar.

Chris Jericho Reportedly Suffered Legitimate Injury During Blood And Guts

0

It appears that the initial reports of all the participants of the Blood and Guts match coming out of the bout unharmed are not correct and Chris Jericho seems to have suffered a legitimate injury in the bout.

While the former AEW champion was not kept off TV and he was seen on this week’s follow-up episode of Dynamite, many fans noted that he had his left elbow in a brace and it was taped up as well.

In an update, Bryan Alvarez noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that these things were not props and Jericho has suffered a legitimate elbow injury.

According to him, the former WWE star suffered the injury during his big spot falling off the Blood and Guts cage and he possibly fractured his elbow while doing the spot. Though there is no word on the severity of the injury.

The Pinnacle vs. Inner Circle feud continued on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite and Chris Jericho’s stable confronted MJF’s group while the latter were trying to celebrate their victory in the extreme match.

While Jericho was present for the segment, he did not get physical during it. If the reports are correct then he might stay away from action for a while.

MJF has since challenged the group to a Stadium Stampede match for Double Or Nothing and it would be interesting to see how Jericho responds to this challenge from the young star.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Talks Two Man Power Trip with Triple H

0

Stone Cold Steve Austin is the latest guest on the WWE Network series Drew & A. Austin joined former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre to discuss a number of topics surrounding his career, including the short-lived but fondly remembered Two Man Power Trip tag team alongside ‘The Game’ Triple H.

“I love working with Triple H,” Austin began, speaking to Drew McIntyre. “We hit it off when he came down to WCW way back in the day, we didn’t travel roads together but we were on the same page. We both loved bodybuilding, powerlifting. He’s a great worker, good mind for the business.”

“But Triple H, a great mind for the game,” Austin continued, before revealing that the Two Man Power Trip concept in 2001 was his idea. “I picked his opinion on many different things, and asked his opinion on many different things when I was on my run. One of my ideas as a heel that I wanted to do was form a tag team with him, and call it The Two-Man Power Trip.”

Steve Austin on Triple H

“We were really, really trying to get some heat” Austin stated. “Laying some heavy steel chairs down on The Undertaker, Kane, Hardys, Lita, my God.”

“We were doing everything we could in my alliance with him” Steve Austin claimed. “Which kind of ensured that I was headed in a heat direction. Then fate hit one night in a tag match on Monday Night RAW; he blew out that quad, and that was the end of that.”

Austin finished by praising Triple H for his return in 2002 following the quad injury. “He made a successful comeback. Obviously he’s had one of the greatest runs in the history of the business” Austin concluded. “But [he’s] a guy that’s a lot of fun to be in the ring with.”

Zelina Vega Expected Back In WWE, Spotted At Performance Center

0

Thea Trinidad, better known to wrestling fans as Zelina Vega, is expected to return to WWE. The 30-year-old had been released from the promotion in November after speaking out regarding the company’s position on not allowing talent to engage with 3rd parties such as Twitch or Cameo.

According to a report from Fightful, Vega was at the WWE Performance Center today and was filming content. She is expected to be returning to the company.

This news comes after reports that she had signed a short-term deal with a company in March but details regarding what company that was were never revealed. It was reported that she would not being going to AEW anytime soon because of this deal, however.

“Trinidad has signed a deal,” wrote Dave Meltzer in March. “We don’t know with who or even that if it’s with a wrestling promotion, but the deal she signed would not allow her to work for another wrestling company and it was not with AEW. It was a somewhat short-term thing and the door wasn’t shut on her eventually working with AEW but it won’t be any time imminently.”

Tony Khan had previously expressed interest in signing Vega as well.

“She was in a non-compete last time I checked. I’ve been waiting for that… I don’t talk to people when they have the non-compete,” Khan said on Wrestling Observer Radio in March. “I’ve been waiting on her non-compete to expire… when we get through this tournament and through this pay-per-view, I’d be interested to see where she’s at.”

John Cena’s ‘Peacemaker’ HBO Max Show Premiere Details

0

WWE Superstar John Cena has spent the past few months filming the new Peacemaker series for HBO Max. The former WWE Champion confirmed earlier this year that he could not attend WrestleMania 37 due to the schedule for the Suicide Squad spin-off, due to the travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cena has been active in terms of Hollywood over the past few years, with F9, part of the massive Fast & Furious franchise, soon to be released. The new Suicide Squad film, the precursor to the Peacemaker series, will be arriving on August 6. That day will see the new film available on HBO Max and in Theaters.

John Cena in Peacemaker

The director of both Suicide Squad and Peacemaker James Gunn recently answered fan questions as part of an Instagram Q&A. Gunn confirmed that Cena’s new HBO series will be available to stream in January 2022.

With John Cena now seemingly finished with filming, he may be available for a return to WWE. Cena recently posted an image of the WWE logo to his own Instagram, leading fans to question if it’s just another one of Cena’s odd social media troll jobs or if he’s really looking to return.

A possible destination is SummerSlam, with WWE looking to re-introduce full crowds from that show onwards.

Azteca Underground Expected To Be 2nd MLW Series & “Distinctly Different” From Fusion

0

The mysterious faction of Azteca Underground debuted in MLW earlier this year. The former Dario Cueto, now known as Cesar Duran, was revealed last week as the organization’s benefactor. He announced that he is building a new temple and may or may not have sacrificed Salina de la Renta to the gods after the camera cut away.

According to comments made by Court Bauer on Sean Waltman’s “Pro Wrestling 4 Life” podcast, Azteca Underground is potentially going to become its own show. The faction has been referred to previously as the “spiritual successor” to Lucha Underground.

“All I can say is that we may or may not have received two bids for a second series that may or may not involve Azteca Underground,” Bauer said on the show (transcriptions via WrestleZone).

Bauer also said during the podcast that Azteca Underground will feel “distinctly different” from episodes of Fusion.

“It’s going to be interesting. With the new project, Azteca Underground, it’s a pretty fun project,” Bauer said, “but it’s also going to be easier for us to make something feel distinctly different from Fusion.”

Dark Side of the Ring Creators Interested In Collaborating with MLW

In a recent interview with the WINCLY podcast, the co-creators of Dark Side of the Ring (Evan Husney and Jason Eisener) spoke about wanting to collaborate with MLW now that the promotion is on VICE TV.

“Court Bauer, he’s awesome. I’ve talked to him many times about this,” Husney said. “He had reached out to me, I think, when season two was airing. He reached out to me and and sort of had the idea of ‘wrestling is getting big on this network. What do you think?’ And obviously, because we did the Von Erich story, I knew Ross and Marshall Von Erich from the episode, and them being such a huge part of MLW, I thought it was a cool idea because Vice, the way the network launched originally to where what it’s kind of evolved into, it seems like now Vice TV, as a network, is open to a lot more different types of storytelling.”

Update On Original Plans For Orange Cassidy vs PAC Finish on AEW Dynamite

0

On AEW Dynamite last night, the match between Orange Cassidy and PAC was ended early. Cassidy was noticeably hurt following a powerbomb and he had also took a stiff superkick to the face.

https://twitter.com/TheLouisDangoor/status/1392653832975437827

After some stalling, Kenny Omega hit PAC in the back of the head with the title belt and both wrestlers were unable to make Aubrey Edwards’ 10-count. The match was declared a draw and both Orange and PAC will face Omega for the title at Double or Nothing.

Cassidy was generally ‘okay’ and will be good to go by May 30th for the PPV. He was seen socializing with others in the back after the show and does not seem to have sustained any significant injuries.

Orange Cassidy Update (5/13)

The injury scare was also addressed on Wrestling Observer Radio. It was noted that the planned finish of the match had been a 20-minute time-limit draw. It had always been the plan for a 3-way match at Double or Nothing.

“They were going to do the 3-way at the PPV and the hope is that they will still do the 3-way at the PPV. It depends on Orange Cassidy,” said Dave Meltzer. “Although, he was fine later in the night but he took a nasty kick in the face and the powerbomb looked kind of ugly too. And he was knocked out, or close to knocked out, whatever it was.”

“They were going to a 20-minute draw, that was the plan. They were about 14-minutes in when this happened,” he continued.

Watch Darby Allin’s Emotional Promo From After Dynamite Went Off The Air

0

This week’s eventful episode of AEW Dynamite ended with a big championship match between the TNT champion Darby Allin and ‘the best man’ Miro. The finish of this hard fought main event saw Miro picking up the victory and becoming the new champion after he caught the title holder in his game over submission.

The cameras went off air with Allin still lying in the ring but it wasn’t the end of the show. After the feed went off air, Darby Allin cut an emotional promo addressing the fans. The now former champion said that people have been asking him when is he gonna win the AEW title but he doesn’t need that s***:

“When I became TNT Champion, I told everybody it was the only championship that meant anything to me, and I mean that one-hundred percent. People ask me, ‘When are going to win the big one? When are you going to win the AEW [World] Championship?’ I look them dead in the eye and said, ‘I don’t need that s***. I need the TNT Championship.’

“I don’t need to collect any other belts from anywhere else in this world. I need the TNT Championship. And I guarantee you — every single one of you here — this is not the last time I am TNT Champion. Thank you for all the support. It means the world to me.”

https://twitter.com/FLWrestlingFan/status/1392662097775972353

The team of Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky have been interfering in the business of Sting and Allin in recent weeks and the Icon had to fight them off after the main event match this week as well. This suggests that we are going to see a feud between these two teams in the coming time.

As for Miro, he was confronted by Lance Archer after his big win on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. While these two have not been feuding, the segment seemed a clear indication that we will see these two competing over the title in the upcoming times.

Orange Cassidy vs Pac Match Finish Changed During Dynamite

0

The #1 contender match between Pac and Orange Cassidy on this week’s episode of Dynamite ended in double count-out after the latter got knocked out.

However, this wasn’t the planned finish for the bout and the officials had to call an audible during the show, according to PWInsider. The original plan was for the match to continue a bit longer and for the match to end in a 20-minute time limit draw.

However, Cassidy got legitimately hurt after taking the sunset flip powerbomb to the floor towards the ending of the match. While he still kept trying to get back in the ring and finish the match as intended, the decision was made on the spot to end the bout.

https://twitter.com/wolfkingvillian/status/1392642587907997699

Though it didn’t change the plans for the championship match for Double Or Nothing and according to the report, the company always intended for the AEW world championship match to be a triple threat.

Regarding Orange Cassidy, it was noted that the young star was ok after the match and he was seen socializing with a number of talents after the show.

Kenny Omega will defend his AEW world championship against both Pac and Orange Cassidy in a triple threat match at the Double Or Nothing PPV on May 30.

“They Probably Got Tired Of Getting Their Ass Beat”: Jim Ross Takes Dig At NXT Moving To Tuesday Nights

0

Jim Ross not only got to witness the Wednesday night wars up close but he once again ended up on the winning side as NXT decided to switch its weekly programming to Tuesday nights.

The former WWE star recently had an interview with Jimmy Varsallone where he talked about a number of things like Paul Wight joining AEW and more.

Talking about WWE’s decision to move NXT to a different night, Ross claimed that they probably got tired of getting beaten by AEW in TV ratings every week:

“It was obvious, WWE goes on Wednesdays, head-to-head with us, in hopes it would hurt our growth. It didn’t happen. They probably got tired of getting their ass beat every week. They have a lot of stroke with USA, so they made a move.

It helped them and they have more viewers, we have more viewers, and fans don’t have to make a decision.” said Jim Ross “If it’s fan-friendly, it’s a good move. We have to protect our greatest assets (the fans),”

The legendary commentator also said that he thinks the AEW product in general was more fan friendly and NXT’s move makes it easier for fans as they don’t have to choose between the two shows anymore.

Apart from this, Jim Ross also talked about things such as the AEW president Tony Khan, being able to enjoy the wrestling business again and more.

Damian Priest Says He Was Told He Would Be ‘Done’ If Bad Bunny Storyline Failed

0

Damian Priest made his main roster debut at the start of the year. Almost immediately he was put into a big storyline with Bad Bunny leading to their WrestleMania match against The Miz and John Morrison.

During his recent interview with Sporting News Australia, the former NXT star opened up about his experience in the main roster so far among other things.

Talking about his storyline with Bad Bunny, Priest explained how his confidence has grown due to the trust the company has shown in him before revealing that prior to the storyline, he was told that he would be done if he blew the angle:

“Yes it does give me confidence, it goes both ways. I can put in all the work I want, but obviously I also need the company to believe in me and have my back.

A lot of people were honest with me and they told me ‘listen, you can’t blow this because if you do, you’re done’. All I said was you’re giving me the opportunity, I’m going to do everything to my abilities to knock this out of the park.”

While Damian Priest did not reveal the name behind the comment, he did reveal some names which have helped him since his arrival on the main roster:

“Everybody has been awesome to me, if I have a question or anything. I could go up to say one of the guys in The New Day and they’ll take the time to just sit with me and talk and explain stuff to me, and guide me the right way.”

Damian Priest signed a contract with WWE back in October 2018. He was moved to the main roster in January 2021 after a successful run with the North American championship in NXT.

“I Was Mad”: Ric Flair Admits Being Uncomfortable With Lacey Evans Storyline

0

Ric Flair’s recent storyline with Lacey Evans was criticized by a lot of people and now the wrestling veteran himself has admitted that he was not comfortable with the whole angle. The 16-time world champion recently appeared on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show where he talked about things such as his promo after winning the 1992 Royal Rumble and more.

Opening up about his romantic angle with Evans, Flair admitted that he wasn’t comfortable with the part but he still played it because he doesn’t want to be the one to turn down an angle:

“In this instance, I didn’t [feel comfortable]; the one thing I’ve learned is you’re not going to win a war when someone’s got their mind made up. She most definitely didn’t like it, but the one thing that I can say about me is I always said yes. I didn’t want to be that guy that was always going ‘Oh, that isn’t perfect for me.’”

Ric Flair also admitted being mad about the whole thing when the storyline was pulled and explained how Vince McMahon had made his mind about it:

“When that was all over, I was mad but now I just look back and say it wasn’t it. This was something that when I got to TV, Mr. McMahon wasn’t there to argue the point with and he had stuff going on, I don’t like to put the pressure on someone if I can’t talk to him. He just made up his mind,

The former champion later claimed that a reason behind the storyline was that Lacey Evans is a former marine and Vince McMahon wanted her to be successful. According to him, the way to get successful sometimes “is to take two people that are doing really well and give them the rub.”

Ric Flair started aiding Lacey Evans in her feud against Charlotte Flair in January. The storyline continued for more than a month before the female star announced her real-life pregnancy and went on a hiatus.

Jon booted Nagata in the midsection and planted him with the Paradigm Shift for the pinfall victory. Jon Moxley is still the IWGP US Champion.

Cody Challenged Anthony Ogogo

Cody Rhodes made his way to the ring tonight for an announcement regarding Double or Nothing. Rhodes stated that it is fair to poke fun at things like the election, what to do during the anthem, but he has already been proud to be an American. Cody brought up Anthony Ogogo and how he has run down America even though he has a visa and makes money in America. Cody added that Ogogo didn’t come here to live the “English Dream”. Rhodes added that he wants to face Ogogo at Double or Nothing and that Anthony will not be facing The American Nightmare, he will be facing The American Dream.

Young Bucks Retained, SCU No Longer A Team

The Young Bucks defended the AEW Tag Team Championships against SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels) tonight on Dynamite. SCU will no longer be a tag team if they lose the match. Frankie Kazarian controlled the match early and beat Nick Jackson down. Young Bucks battled back and Matt Powerbombed Daniels onto the ring apron as Dynamite went to a commercial break.

When Dynamite returned, SCU was back in control and connected with a Powerbomb on Nick for a two count. Nick sent Daniels into the ring post outside the ring and busted him open. Back in the ring, Frankie connected with a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count.

Doc Gallows distracted the referee as Kazarian connected with a Styles Clash but Nick broke up the cover. Daniels then planted Nick Jackson with the Angel’s Wings. Daniels then hit the Best Moonsault Ever but Nick broke up the cover. Matt sprayed something in Daniels face and smashed the can over his head for a two count. Young Bucks then hit Daniels with the BTE Trigger for the pinfall victory as Frankie was too late breaking it up. Young Bucks are still the AEW Tag Team Champions.

Omega Will Defend The Title Against PAC & Orange Cassidy At The PPV

PAC squared off against Orange Cassidy tonight on Dynamite. The winner of the match will face Kenny Omega for the AEW Championship at Double or Nothing. Before the match, Orange Cassidy pissed off PAC by putting his sunglasses on him.

PAC broke the glasses and tried to attack Cassidy. Orange hit Beach Break right away and went for the cover but PAC kicked out. PAC rolled out of the ring to regroup but got a Suicide Dive from Orange Cassidy for his troubles. Cassidy then pulled out another pair of sunglasses and put them on.

When Dynamite returned, PAC was in control and launched Cassidy into the barricade. PAC hit two Dropkicks and went for the cover but Cassidy kicked out at two. PAC planted Cassidy with a Liger Bomb for a two count as Dynamite went to a break.

Don Callis showed up ringside when Dynamite returned and distracted referee Aubrey Edwards. AEW Champion Kenny Omega slid into the ring and hit PAC with the title. The match then ended in a double countout and Callis claimed that Omega will not have to defend the title at Double or Nothing. Tony Schiavone interrupted and said that Tony Khan has announced that Omega will defend the AEW Championship against PAC and Orange Cassidy in a Triple Threat match at the PPV.

The Pinnacle Challenged Inner Circle To A Stadium Stampede Match

The Pinnacle made their way to the ring to celebrate their victory over Inner Circle at Blood & Guts last week. MJF was sporting a crown on his head and pink suite for the coronation. MJF claimed that he was now the demo god and is the greatest of all time. He demanded that everyone bow to the group and boasted about how Dynamite’s ratings have gone up since The Pinnacle arrived.

Tully Blanchard said that The Pinnacle withstood everything Inner Circle had to offer but at the end of the match Inner Circle were the ones begging for the match to stop. Tully gave everyone in the group a watch as a present before Inner Circle interrupted. Inner Circle arrived in a vehicle that had “A Little Bit of the Bubbly” written on it and Sammy Guevara was operating a hose on top of it.

Jericho climbed to the top of the vehicle and had his arm in a cast. Chris wanted a rematch but MJF declined. Sammy hosed The Pinnacle down before MJF grabbed the microphone again. MJF said that they can have a rematch if it is a Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing and Inner Circle will have to break up forever if they lose. MJF shouted “take it or leave it!” to end the segment.

Thunder Rosa Dominated

Thunder Rosa faced Jazmin Allure tonight on Dynamite. Allure got in some offense to start things off but Thunder Rosa quickly took control of the match. Thunder Rosa connected with a Dropkick and followed it up with a Body Slam. Thunder Rosa hit a Senton and then the Fire Thunder Driver for the pinfall victory.

Miro Captured The TNT Championship

Darby Allin defended the TNT Championship against Miro in this week’s main event. Miro attacked Darby Allin before the bell rang and beat him down. Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky were shown laughing their asses off in the crowd as Miro connected with a boot to the face for a near fall.

Allin tried to get in some offense and went for the Coffin Drop early but Miro countered into a German Suplex as Dynamite went to a commercial break. When Dynamite returned, Darby was in control as footage was down of Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky attacking Sting during the break.

Darby applied a Sleeper Hold and then locked it in again outside the ring. Miro broke the hold by slamming Darby into the barricade and then brought the TNT Champion back into the ring. Miro took off the medical tape on Darby’s injured shoulder and started attacking it.

Allin slapped Miro in the face and hit a Stunner for a near fall. Darby went for another Coffin Drop but Miro countered into a German Suplex again but this time Allin landed on his feet. Allin went for an Armbar but Miro countered into the Game Over for the submission victory. Miro is the new TNT Champion.

After the match, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page tried to attack Sting again but Dark Order broke it up. Miro posed with the title and stood over Darby Allin. Lance Archer showed up on the stage and shouted at Miro but Jake Roberts held him back to close the show.

Miro Wins AEW TNT Championship From Darby Allin

0

Darby Allin previously fought all comers and did so successfully, but when he went up against Miro, he fell short.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place on TNT,  Allin defended the TNT Title against Miro in the main event. The lengthy fight saw Allin try to overcome the tough challenge that Miro brought, but it wasn’t enough.

Miro won the match with a rear=naked choke and now is the new champion. Post=match, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page tried to attack Sting, who fought them off. This led to Lance Archer coming out to the stage and was held back by Jake Roberts as he was trying to protect his guy.

Darby Allin won the TNT Title from Cody Rhodes last November at the Full Gear pay-per-view event.

It will be interesting to see when Allin gets his rematch for the title. Based on the post-match angle, it appears All Elite Wrestling is building to a future match between Archer and Miro. It could take place at the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view event later this month.
