Both Rusev and Lana have not been seen on WWE Programming in a while and their absence made many people wonder about their status with the company.
A lot of people wondered if the duo were done with the promotion or if the Officials were making them sit out their contract. Though a latest update on the situation reveals that this is not the case.
A fan recently asked Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer about their status on Twitter and answering the question, he revealed that the duo is actually on a break from WWE:
Rusev’s last PPV appearance came at the WWE Supershow Down from Saudi Arabia on June 7 but he had not been making appearances on WWE shows even before that.
The former US Champion has not been appearing on WWE Programming since May 17 and Rusev has continued this sabbatical after the one-off appearance at the Saudi event.
Rusev has been unhappy with his position in the company for a while and he also regularly voices his opinion about the current product from his Twitter account.
While the exact date is not known, it was reported recently that Rusev’s current contract is set to expire soon and it’s likely that the Bulgarian Brute will not re-sign with the company.
