WWE RAW Results (9/14): Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee, RETRIBUTION Attacks

Asuka Retained In A Bizarre Finish

Asuka defended her RAW Women’s Championship against Mickie James tonight.

Match Recap: Mickie and Asuka locked up in the middle of the ring to start off the action. Mickie rolled up Asuka for a one count and then went for a Headlock but Asuka countered into a Headlock of her own. Mickie escaped and connected with a Neckbreaker for a near fall.

Asuka went for the Hip Attack but Mickie got out of the way and booted her in the face. Mickie fell to the canvas and Asuka fell to the floor outside the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

Mickie and Asuka traded punches when RAW returned. Asuka drove Mickie to the corner of the ring but Mickie caught her with a boot to the face. Mickie hit Asuka with a Hurricanrana but Asuka battled back with the Hip Attack. Mickie connected with a Flapjack and made her way to the top rope.

Asuka caught her with a jab to the face and joined Mickie on the turnbuckle. Mickie shoved Asuka to the canvas and leaped onto Asuka for a two count. Asuka hit Mickie with a backhand and followed it up with a couple knees to the face. Mickie ducked under a kick and applied a Half Crab in the middle of the ring.

The RAW Women’s Champion fought through the pain and countered into a roll-up for a two count. Asuka applied the Asuka Lock in the middle of the ring and the referee stopped the match. Mickie didn’t tap out but the referee claimed that she couldn’t continue.

Zelina Vega marched to the ring and said that she has been thinking about her future. Vega stated that she has wasted some of the best years of her career managing Garza and Andrade. Vega claimed that Asuka has been wreckless with the RAW Women’s Championship and she is going to take it from her. Zelina slapped Asuka in the face and then ran away when Asuka tried to battle back.

Earlier on RAW, Andrade and Garza once again started fighting with each other and Zelina said that she was done with them.

Opinion: I don’t know if Mickie James got injured during the match or what happened but the finish was very odd. This whole match was clunky as hell and I wasn’t expecting that out of Mickie and Asuka. I would have rather seen this match at the PPV with a proper build. I don’t get the logic of having it tonight and then immediately transitioning into an Asuka and Vega feud.

Seth Rollins Defeated Dominik & Beat Down Murphy

Seth Rollins squared off against Dominik tonight in a Steel Cage match. The Mysterio family was ringside for the match. Before the match, Rollins and Murphy had a conversation backstage. Seth told Murphy that the Mysterio family beating him senseless with kendo sticks last week is in the past.

Rollins stated that tonight is a perfect opportunity to teach Dominik and the world a lesson. Seth asked Murphy if he was prepared for his role tonight and Murphy said yes. Rollins slapped Murphy in the face and told him that his role was to stay backstage so he doesn’t have to deal with any of his stupid mistakes.

Match Recap: Dominik connected with a Russian Leg Sweep and tried to climb up the cage but Rollins brought him back down. Murphy came down to the ring anyway and gave Seth a kendo stick as RAW went to a break.

Back from the commercial break, Dominik took the kendo stick and beat Rollins down. Dominik connected with a Powerbomb and went for the cover but Seth kicked out at the last moment. Rollins and Dominik both got crotched on the top rope and fell to the mat.

Rey opened the door and Murphy attacked Mysterio from behind. Murphy managed to shut the door on Rollins’ face and tried to prevent Dominik from leaving the cage. Dominik knocked Murphy to the floor and hit Rollins with a Frog Splash for two count. Dominik climbed to the top of the cage but Rollins caught him with a Superplex and then a Falcon Arrow for a two count. Rollins then hit Dominik with two Stomps for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Rollins grabbed the kendo stick and walked towards Murphy. Seth sent Murphy into the barricade and into the steel cage a couple times. Rollins slammed the cage door on Murphy’s face and shouted “how does it feel?”.
