Kevin Owens Picked Up A Win
Kevin Owens faced Aleister Black tonight on RAW.
Match Recap: Owens controlled the action early and connected with a Clothesline. Black battled back and locked in a submission hold. Owens sent Black out of the ring and Aleister’s face bounced off the apron. Back in the ring, Aleister took back control and focused his attack on Kevin’s knee. Owens hit Aleister with a Superkick out of nowhere and both superstars fell to the canvas. The lights started to flicker and Owens capitalized with a Stunner for the pinfall victory.
Opinion: Aleister Black spent weeks in a dark room waiting for a fight but completely lost focus when the lights flickered in this match. Kevin Owens versus Aleister Black should automatically be a great match but this was terrible. I don’t know why WWE has Aleister Black in leather pants now either. They’ve managed to systematically destroy a character that I thought was going to be huge on the main roster.
Nia Jax Put Lana Through The Announce Table
The Riott Squad defeated Natalya and Lana in squash match tonight. After the match, Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax attacked Natalya and Lana as Riott Squad escaped up the entrance ramp. Nia Jax hit Lana with a Samoan Drop through the announce table.
Opinion: It sure looks like Lana is being punished for Miro showing up in All Elite Wrestling. There is not much buzz for the Women’s Tag Team Championship match at the PPV.
RETRIBUTION Invaded During The Main Event
Drew McIntyre faced Keith Lee in the main event. If Keith Lee won the match, he would replace Randy Orton in the title match at Clash of Champions if Randy is not medically cleared yet. McIntyre and Keith Lee brawled backstage before the match.
Match Recap: Keith Lee dominated early and Clotheslined McIntyre out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, McIntyre and Lee traded chops. Drew took control and absolutely leveled him with a Clothesline. McIntyre made his way to the top rope and connected with a flying Clothesline.
Drew hit Lee with a Spinebuster and went for the cover but Keith kicked out at two. Lee hit a Clothesline of his own for a two count. Keith Lee followed it up with a Superplex for another near fall. McIntyre and Lee both went for a Crossbody at the same time and crashed to the canvas.
RETRIBUTION showed up and surrounded the ring. McIntyre and Lee brawled with them for a bit before RETRIBUTION beat them down. The Hurt Business joined the party and brawled with RETRIBUTION outside the ring. Lee and McIntyre flipped onto everyone as RAW went off the air.
Opinion: MVP was on commentary for the second half of the show so it was jarring to see him walk out with the Hurt Business moments after RETRIBUTION arrived. It was also jarring to see that Keith Lee is now in a singlet. I thought this week’s RAW was a complete mess and a show that would drive me away if I was tuning in for the first time.
