Kazarian defeated Mark Briscoe

This match was filmed before SCU and the Briscoe Brothers would face off on the All In preshow. The feud between these two teams doesn’t seem as though it is close to being over.

Mark Briscoe missed a Froggy-bow and Kazarian countered into a crucifix-pin for the win. This brought out Jay Briscoe to start a 2-on-1 beatdown but SCU made the save. SCU then had a 3-on-2 advantage but Punishment Martinez hit the ring and aligned with the Briscoes.

The Briscoes and Punishment Martinez stood tall to end the segment.

  • Highlights of the Dawks beating up Cheeseburger and LSG (the Bouncers) were shown. The Bouncers had just defeated the Dawgs in tag action.
  • Video recap of Bully Ray walking out on Silas Young last week was shown.

Jay Lethal (c) defeated Jonathan Gresham (2-1)

The vast majority of the match went without a pin. Then, with only minutes to spare, Lethal tapped out to an Octopus stretch.

Lethal went after Gresham as soon as the next fall started. He locked in a figure-four leglock in the middle of the ring with 2minutes and 24 seconds to go. Gresham tried to turn it over but was forced to tap out with just under 90 seconds remaining.

Gresham went for several pinning combinations with under 30 seconds left but none were successful. The 30 minutes ended with each wrestler having earned one fall. Gresham challenged Lethal to a 5-minute sudden death overtime period and the champion accepted.

With under 2 minutes remaining in overtime, Lethal countered a sleeper into a cutter and then hit Lethal Injection for the pin and the victory.

What’s In The Box?

Their previous Unboxing Live events have all thrived on the relative unpredictability of pro wrestling, coupled with the promotions’ booking tastes, leading to unexpected, surprising matchups – all of which are only revealed on the day!

2017 saw an unexpected appearance for WWE’s ‘Gentleman’ Jack Gallagher, who is familiar with PROGRESS; 2016 had Marty Scurll literally unbox Zack Sabre Jr. before they competed for the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship.

Dream matches, match of the year candidates, all this and more can happen at an Unboxing Live event. No doubt, the best way to experience it is live, with an atmosphere that only the Ballroom can provide.

Hello Wembley

Prior to this, however, is their major Wembley show, ‘Hello Wembley.’

Tickets are still available to purchase via AXS. This will be the biggest English independent show in years. The event is also the final indie appearance of former UFC fighter, Matt Riddle, before he heads to NXT.

Joey Mercury Arrest Update

0

Joey Mercury was arrested over All In weekend. As a result, he was forced to miss the event. Mercury had been scheduled to work as a producer and backstage agent.

In an update to this story, Mercury has been released and will not face any further charges.

Real name Adam Birch, he was discovered by police sleeping in his car last weekend. Police ran his information and discovered he had an outstanding warrant in Florida. The only available information regarding his outstanding warrant is that it was for a non-violent offense and it wasn’t serious enough to warrant extradition back to Florida.

Joey Mercury/Wrestling in 2018

Birch recently made his Lucha Underground debut under the name “Joey Wrestling”. The longtime tag-team partner of John Hennigan was introduced into the LU world as a guest at the wedding of Johnny Mundo and Taya.

Joey Wrestling also appeared in the most recent episode when he faced Matanza Cueto in single’s action. Matanza had interrupted Mundo and Taya’s wedding the week prior and Joey wanted revenge.

The 39-year-old is also a regular for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore promotion. Mercury aligned with Shane Douglas and Nick Aldis in the promotion earlier this year. The trio is something of a remake of Douglas’ old Triple Threat faction.

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) Committed To TV Tapings

0

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) have only just finished their first of TV tapings, which took place in York Hall, Bethnal Green in London over the course of September 5th and 6th, but that hasn’t stopped them from engaging with curious fans who can’t wait for its release.

Today, the official Rev Pro Twitter account opened up to a Q+A session with its followers. Questions quickly turned to the tapings, the promotion’s future intentions and plans, and how the TV deal factors into their product going forward.

“We Believe We Have Made Some Mighty Fine TV”

When asked whether the TV deal was a “permanent thing” as opposed to a potential pilot to shop around to different networks, the Rev Pro account responded:

“[It being permanent is] the intention, yes, however will stress that nothing is permanent, like anything it has to work for all parties. We are going into this with a level head. However do believe we have made some mighty fine TV!”

Despite the initial set of tapings having only just been completed, another fan was eager to know when and where another set would take place.

When discussing the two-day tapings, another supporter wanted to know whether RPW would use their ‘bigger’ shows as a part of their TV run, or if the TV shows were their own dedicated products, intended to feed into the big shows like High Stakes, Global Wars, or Summer Sizzler.

On The Air

With all the excitement over the tapings still fresh, fans are excited to know when they can actually watch the final product when it debuts on Free Sports in the UK.

Rev Pro responded:

It’s reaffirming to see the commitment that those involved with Revolution Pro Wrestling are bringing to this television deal.

More competition can only further reinvigorate an industry already enjoying an undeniable upswing, and with programs like World of Sport once again on terrestrial screens across the UK, Rev Pro may offer up an engaging, entertaining alternative for British fans.

DDP On Appearing At All In For Free

10

WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was recently interviewed by WSVN-TV Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet.

“DDP” was asked about his appearance at last week’s All In pay-per-view (PPV) event. Page was ringside for Cody’s NWA World Title win against Nick Aldis. He explained how the late Dusty Rhodes played a major role in the bout:

“Dusty used to always tell me ‘I got five friends D and every time I count them, you are one of them’ and that meant a lot to me.

“So when he passed, Cody called me and said Dusty, because he always calls him Dusty and not pops, he said ‘Dusty told me right before he passed that he had five friends and you’re on that list’.

“I appreciated that because I had heard it, but hearing it from him took it to a different level. So fast forward a year a half later and he’s putting together ALL IN, he really loved that five friends thing.

“And three guys who couldn’t have been any closer besides me were Ray Lloyd who is Glacier and Tommy Dreamer. He of course threw in his brother-in-law Kevin who he loves dearly and his father-in-law Otis and of course his dog Pharaoh.

“It was like super special and it was super emotional. We were all looking at each other trying not to cry.”

Appearing At All In For Free

Page then talked about how Cody convinced him to hit a Diamond Cutter during the show. He also revealed he didn’t charge Cody and The Young Bucks a dime for his appearance:

“When I first heard Cody was doing ALL IN, I told him you know I don’t do Diamond Cutters anymore. I mean, if WWE calls me I’ll f*cking do a Diamond Cutter, but not for an independent wrestling company.

“I’ve been offered $10,000. I’m not hitting that mat anymore. But for Cody, I told him if you need me for anything, I said I’m there and I wouldn’t charge him nothing. I’m sure plenty of people got paid a lot of money to be there, I took nothing and I won’t take nothing from him.”

10 Takeaways From WWE RAW (9/10)

1

The September 10th episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to the takeaways below, it was announced that Ziggler & McIntyre will defend their RAW Tag Team Championships against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose at Hell in a Cell this Sunday night.

Here are 10 takeaways from this week’s show:

The Shield Protected Their Yard

The Shield RAW 9 10

RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre made their way down to the entrance ramp to kick off this week’s episode of RAW. Braun Strowman and the heels from RAW’s locker room also came down to the ring.

Ziggler said that there is only one way to describe what they did to The Shield last week. Strowman stated they beat them down and feasted on their carcasses. McIntyre grabbed the microphone and rolled footage of the beatdown from last week.

Strowman claimed that the only reason Roman Reigns was still Universal Champion was that he is a coward and cannot handle business on his own. Strowman referred to the Superstars surrounding the ring as the “Dogs of War” and his pack.

McIntyre added that the balance of power has shifted and that they are now in control. Drew vowed to dismember the B-Team in their RAW Tag Team Championship rematch. Strowman said that Reigns is going to get these hands Sunday night at Hell in a Cell.

The Shield’s music hit and Roman, Ambrose and Rollins made their way through the crowd. A brawl broke out and Ambrose brought a few axehandles and the Shield started hitting everyone in sight. Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre retreated up the entrance ramp as The Shield’s music hit to end the segment.

RAW GM Corbin then told The Shield that they had to leave the building or Reigns and Rollins will have to forfeit their titles. The Shield put down their axehandles and left the building.

Nikki Bella Picked Up A Victory

Ruby charged towards Nikki but Nikki connected with a Spear. Riott booted Nikki out of the ring and Brie started arguing with Liv and Sarah Logan as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Riott was in control and connected with a knee to Nikki’s ribs. Nikki battled back with a Spinebuster and both Superstars fell to the canvas. Nikki followed it up with a Clothesline and then a Dropkick to Ruby’s face.

Nikki caught Ruby with a kick to the face and went for a cover but Riott kicked out at two. Nikki punched Logan off the ring apron but Riott capitalized on the distraction and slammed Nikki face first into the mat for a two count. Brie took out Liv Morgan outside the ring and Nikki planted Ruby with the Rack Attack 2.0 for the pinfall victory.

Triple H Vowed To Put The Undertaker Down

Triple H RAW 9 10

Triple H arrived at the arena as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, The Game made his way down to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Triple H showed a poll that said that 81% of the voters thought that The Undertaker is going to win.

Triple H brought up The Undertaker showing up last week to confront Shawn Michaels last week on RAW simply because he picked Triple H to win the match. Triple H claimed that The Undertaker went downhill after his series of matches with him and that his mystique has gone away.

He added that out of the respect that he has for The Undertaker, he will put him down for good at WWE Super Show-Down.

Ziggler & McIntyre Retained

Ziggler McIntyre RAW 9 3

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre defended their RAW Tag Team Championships against The B-Team tonight on RAW. Ziggler and Axel started off the match and Curtis started off in control.

After the match, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins sprinted to the ring and attacked Ziggler and McIntyre. Rollins went for The Stomp on Rollins but Drew dragged him out of the ring just in time. Dolph and Drew then retreated up the entrance ramp as Rollins and Ambrose posed in the ring.

Owens stated that he can do whatever he wants and that there is nothing anyone can do about it. Kevin called Lashley a sick maniac for injuring Sami Zayn and then claimed that he quit because of Lashley.

Owens added that his attack on Lashley last week was just the beginning and that RAW is still the Kevin Owens Show. Owens stated that on RAW you can now expect anarchy, agony, and destruction and that it is all Lashley’s fault.

Mick Foley Will Be The Special Referee For The Universal Championship Match At WWE Hell In A Cell

Mick Foley RAW 9 10

Elias poked fun at the Saints losing this week and the crowd responded with a “Who Dat?!” chant. Elias stated that Drew Brees told him that he was sick of representing this filthy city and that he just wants the season to be over.

Mick Foley interrupted as Elias was about to perform a song and made his way down to the ring. The crowd chanted “Foley” as Mick apologized to Elias for the interruption. Foley complimented Elias and said that he admired his craftsmanship. Foley said that as a lyricist, Elias doesn’t have a sincere bone in his body.

Elias said that he knows Foley is out here to talk about the 20th anniversary of his Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker. Elias said that he was in the arena that night when Foley was launched off the cell and through the table. Elias added that that was then and this was now. Elias said that he was standing in the ring now with a broken man who is singing the same sad song that he has been singing for the past twenty years.

Jazz Reveals What She Was Told When WWE Released Her

13

Current NWA World Women’s Champion and former WWE Women’s Champion Jazz was recently interviewed by Women’s Wrestling Weekly. Jazz talked about her pending lawsuit against WWE, racism in professional wrestling, being released by WWE, and much more. Check out the highlights here:

Her lawsuit with WWE:

“Yes, I really can’t discuss that right now. There is news. It could be good or it could be bad.”

Racism in professional wrestling:

“I wouldn’t say I had experienced it. But, honestly with my ability and my way of work… if I were blonde hair and blue eyed, I would probably still be on TV now.”

Trish Stratus:

“Trish and I had a phenomenal feud. I mean she was the type of person that no matter what I put on her she got her ass back up and we did our thing. She was great at taking that ass whopping.”

Being released from WWE:

“They called us to the back and said, ‘we were wrestling too much like men.’ I thought, well that’s the end of my career.”

Would she still be with WWE if she had blonde hair and blue eyes:

“If I wasn’t in the company, I would be a part of the company. Because right now today, I still have no clue of why I was released. I’m championed one day and released the next day.”

WWE not knowing how to market African Americans:

“I don’t think they (WWE) knows how to market African Americans. I was a champion and I’ve never had an action figure. They did the screening and scanning and said my action figure is in high demand and I never saw it.”

All In Appearance Didn’t Help Chris Jericho Cruise Cabin Sales

3

Former WWE star Chris Jericho made a special appearance at All In last week in Chicago. Jericho dressed as Pentagon Jr. and attacked Kenny Omega after the lights in the arena went out.

After Jericho attacked Omega, he teased that he would be seeing “The Cleaner” again on the Jericho Cruise. That was a slight plug to try and get more wrestling fans to buy a cabin for the upcoming cruise, which will feature several big professional wrestling names.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Talk Is Jericho, he revealed that he sold zero cabins a few days after All In:

“I found out today that I sold zero cabins yesterday,” Jericho said. “Everyone’s watching the pay-per-view [on demand] so hopefully it goes that way.

“Just being there was huge, the cruise thing, the shirt, the reveal, the Pentagon thing. It was one of the coolest moments of my career and I’m glad I got to do that in the States after doing it in Japan the last couple of times.”

It looks like Omega and Jericho will be facing off on the Jericho Cruise. The Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea is set for sail on October 27th.

Mick Foley Returns On WWE Monday Night RAW, Makes Hell In A Cell Announcement

0

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in New Orleans, LA at the Smoothie King Center on the USA Network, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley made his return to the flagship show of the company.

The reason Foley made an appearance on the show was to promote the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event. The former WWE Champion did an in-ring promo segment with Elias where he talked about the dangers of the match as he had an iconic Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker at the King of the Ring pay-per-view event in 1998 at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also announced that he would be the special guest referee for the Hell in a Cell Match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman at the HIAC PPV.

This match saw Foley take his epic jump off the top of the cell as well as him being chokeslammed through the cell to the mat of the ring. At the time, the cell was 20 feet tall.

Foley was introduced as the new General Manager of Monday Night RAW after the WWE’s Brand Split in July of 2016. Foley and Stephanie McMahon aligned themselves together to draft various Superstars in order to run Monday Nights to the best of their ability.

After several months, however, Foley was then written off of WWE TV in order to undergo a major hip surgery that he needed. As a result of this, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon thought that it would be a great idea to bring back former WWE Champion Kurt Angle to serve as his replacement.

Prior to this appearance, Foley was last seen on WWE television when he was fired as the RAW General Manager by Stephanie McMahon during the March 20, 2017 episode of the flagship show of the company.

The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.

How WWE Officials Reportedly Feel About Andrade Almas

9

You may have noticed that former WWE NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas has been getting a lot of TV time on SmackDown Live lately.

In recent weeks, Almas has shared the ring against the likes of Daniel Bryan and WWE Champion AJ Styles. Per a report from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Almas has impressed WWE officials backstage.

The report indicates that Vince McMahon is included in those that Almas has impressed. Sapp says that Andrade was initially put in a spot where he wasn’t supposed to shine. After some impressive performances inside the ring, however, Andrade has garnered some trust from WWE officials.

When Almas was initially called up from NXT, he wasn’t used much on TV. Since his rise, he has become a regular on SmackDown Live and is constantly sharing the ring with the company’s best.

This could mean good things for Almas’ future, especially after falling into the good graces of McMahon. Perhaps a championship opportunity could be coming soon for the former NXT Champ.

Discussion: What do you think about Almas reportedly impressing WWE officials? Let us know in the comments section below!

Steve Austin Compares NXT To WWE Main Roster

4

WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin recently interviewed Sean Waltman on his podcast, The Steve Austin Show. “The Texas Rattlesnake” and “X-Pac” talked about several professional wrestling topics.

One such topic was the long-discussed comparisons between WWE’s current main roster and NXT line-up. In recent years, most NXT TakeOver events tend to outdo their successors, whose show goes down the next night. Austin offered his thoughts on the differences between WWE’s main roster and NXT:

“The thing I like about the NXT thing is it’s almost like [Waltman] said, the main roster is almost trying to cover or cater to everybody. And to me, the NXT thing is more… they are both under the same umbrella, it’s WWE, it’s sports entertainment.

“It ain’t pro wrestling anymore. Now, it’s sports entertainment officially, but in my mind, it’s still pro wrestling. And to me, NXT, yeah, it’s kind of like a throwback, and it’s all modern stuff, great lighting, great production values, everything else, but the storylines are very easy to understand and very simple.

“And, I mean, the announcers aren’t trying to go overboard trying to explain whatever’s going on.” Austin added, “sometimes when I watch the main roster stuff, it’s like they’re trying to play to so many people that the storylines get kind of convoluted.”

0

WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick talked about several topics including his mindset as the GM of the 205 Live brand in an interview with Edge and Christian for the E&C Pod Of Awesomeness.

If you recall, after a successful run in Impact Wrestling, he signed with the WWE and was placed as the GM of the cruiserweight show in January of this year. He stated in this interview that he tries to sell the guys to the audience and that there’s no negativity in any of these stars as they are all amazing. He pointed out how a guy like Mustafa Ali has stepped up like nobody’s business as a babyface and is a great seller. He would add that Ali cuts his promos and saying he wants to live a life that people follow to the point where it’s endearing.

He would continue by stating that someone like Buddy Murphy has a chip on his shoulder and waited for his turn after a run in NXT. He noted that every match that WWE fans are raving about, it usually involves Murphy.

“How do you stand out when you’re all amazing athletes? Because we’re 205 Live, we haven’t got the big guy, everyone’s about the same size in the division. It’s that way of standing out.” He continued by stating that they just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. If it doesn’t then they don’t worry about it as there is no problem with failing but rather the worst that can happen is you say that you tried and go again.

They walk down to the ring, and then a crew of heels from the locker room come out to provide security around ringside. Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens, the Authors of Pain and others surround the ring, as Drew, Dolph and Braun get in the ring with microphones. They talk about beating down The Shield last week and feasting on their bloody carcasses. Drew introduces a video package of them fighting The Shield last week. Braun says the only reason Roman Reigns still has the Universal Title is because he’s a coward who can’t handle business on his own. Braun says the Shield has been getting away with anything they want for too long, but they can’t compare with Braun’s pack. Dolph talks to the wrestlers around the ring now, and thanks them for standing up to the Shield’s bullying. Drew says they’ll set an example again tonight when they dismantle the B-Team in a Tag Title rematch. Braun says that’ll be nothing compared to the beating when he’s locked in a cage with Roman at Hell In A Cell. The Shield then appears in the crowd and heads down to ringside. They jump over the fan barricade and fight with all the wrestlers at ringside. Ambrose pulls out a bag of axe handles and The Shield starts beating everyone in sight. Triple H talks about facing The Undertaker one more time and having respect for him, and then the WWE legends coming out of the woodwork to give their opinions. Triple H takes issue with the general consensus that Taker will beat him at the Super Show, but admits he’s not surprised because Taker is never an underdog. Triple H also takes issue with Undertaker being rattled by Shawn Michaels’ opinion that he’d beat him. HHH says Undertaker was angry and agitated, and threatened Shawn, which shows Taker is worried. Triple H adds that Undertaker didn’t show up here tonight to say anything to his face. He says Undertaker was never the same after their series of matches years ago. He says Taker said one thing last week that was true – it’s personal now. Triple H says with the last bit of respect he has for the Undertaker, he’s going to crush him in Australia.

The sheriff reads Corbin his rights, and Corbin pleads with Rollins to talk this over. Rollins waves off the sheriff and it looks like he’s dropping the charges. Foley talks about meeting with Stephanie McMahon, and asking to be part of Hell In A Cell. Foley didn’t want to be sitting on the couch at home watching history, he wanted to at least ring the bell or something. He says Stephanie laughed in his face, and then he reminded her that after he went flying off the cell and everyone thought he was done, he got off the stretcher and climbed back up the cage. Foley says Stephanie changed her mind, and Foley is now booked to be the special guest referee for Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns at Hell In A Cell. Elias says that’s special, but he has a piece of advice for Mick: To shut his mouth and go back where he came from. WWE Ranks The Undertaker’s Greatest Rivals

WWE has put together a list of those Superstars who they think are The Undertaker‘s five greatest rivals. Triple H takes their number one spot. Here is the list:

https://instagram.com/p/BnhCav3n4_o/?utm_source=ig_embed

The last time that Taker competed inside of a WWE ring was when he teamed up with Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman to defeat Elias, Baron Corbin, and Kevin Owens at a WWE live event at MSG in July. Prior to his recent RAW appearance, the Undertaker was last seen on WWE programming once he beat Rusev in a Casket Match in late April at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

Undertaker is slated to take on Triple H at the upcoming Super Show-Down pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia.

CM Punk Says He’s Done With Wrestling, Never Received ‘All In’ Offer

13

CM Punk says there is nothing left for him to do in pro wrestling. The former WWE Superstar called in to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday afternoon to discuss his future with UFC. Of course, the topic of pro wrestling came up. Once again, Punk essentially closed the door on the possibility of him stepping inside the ring again.

Punk returning to pro wrestling would be a huge deal for whichever company was able to sign him. He’s clearly done with WWE, but he could be a game changer for Ring of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling, as they look to expand their presence in the Untied States. Unfortunately, Punk says wrestling for New Japan does not interest him.

There had been reports that CM Punk was offered the opportunity to appear at All In earlier this month. Punk even held an autograph signing at One Hour Tees in Chicago that weekend, which fueled speculation that he might appear. Despite fans getting hopeful, Punk says it was never going to happen. In fact, Punk revealed he never received a formal offer to appear.

After losing his first two professional MMA fights, UFC President Dana White has said it’s unlikely the promotion would offer Punk the chance to fight for them again. Punk is not discouraged and is open to competing elsewhere if necessary.

“I don’t think it’s UFC or bust,” Punk said. “I’m definitely in a weird position, you know what I mean? There’s other places out there but would I go? Should I go?” Punk also further pointed to his future in the sport, stating “I think [I want to continue]. The door’s open.”

He has given himself until the end of the year to decide about whether or not to take another professional MMA fight.

CM Punk is currently a host on the Netflix reality competition series, Ultimate Beastmaster.  He and wife (former WWE Superstar AJ Lee) will appear together in the upcoming horror film Rabid.

Hulk Hogan Says The nWo Would ‘Murder’ The Shield

11

On October 27th the New World Order will reform at Mango’s Tropical Cafe in Orlando. Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall will take part in a Q&A and reunion event. Hogan has been making the media rounds lately to promote the event.

When he was asked how the original 3 NWO members would fare against the Shield, Hogan didn’t mince words. Hogan declared, “We would murder the bums, brother!”

Hulk Hogan On NWO Reunion

“I use to wrestle with Roman Reigns’ Dad,” Hogan continued. “You’ve seen pictures of me holding Roman Reigns as a baby, c’mon. We taught them almost everything we know!”

Hogan would continue to say their reunion event will begin with a 3-hour Q&A session before moving into pictures and autographs.

Speculation of a possible NWO reunion began earlier this summer. Fans attempting to visit Hulk Hogan’s Beach Shop noted it was closed and Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hollywood Hogan were all seen inside wearing NWO gear.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash “invaded” WCW in 1996 as “the Outsiders.” At first, the angle was meant to appear as though WWF talent were invading WCW. Hogan would join the Outsiders at Bash at the Beach that summer. He would win the WCW World Championship from the Giant shortly after and re-christen it the NWO World Title.

Jerry Lawler: WWE Is Politically Correct To A Fault

8

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler thinks political correctness and the Women’s Evolution are the reasons he is no longer featured on WWE television. Lawler was present for the recent Starrcast convention during All In weekend and filmed a live episode of his Dinner with the King podcast for the fans who were in attendance.

During the course of the show, the topic of puppies was brought up. Of course, we’re not talking about young canines here. Longtime fans know that Lawler would use the term to describe women’s cleavage during the Attitude Era. This was back when WWE programming was much more adult-themed than today and long before the Women’s Evolution

“They’re So Politically Correct To A Fault.”

During the Attitude Era, Lawler was one of the most prominent voices on WWE television. That was a very different time and the King believes that association is why he’s no longer calling Raw or SmackDown.

“The thing with the puppies, I did not coin the phrase. I was not the first one to say the phrase on WWE TV; but, because, like you said, I am so associated with that word ‘puppies,’ most people think that way,” Lawler explained.

“That is probably the reason I’m not on TV anymore and I mean that seriously because they [WWE] went so politically correct. It’s not necessarily PG because they’re not PG. They’re further south than PG. They’re PC,” he said. “They’re so politically correct to a fault and especially like they got so right now into – starting with the Revolution – now it’s all about empowering women and that’s a big political correct thing these days and everything, so WWE jumped right on that, so it’s about empowering women.”

Lawler revealed that WWE producers actually instructed the commentators to never call the women wrestlers beautiful, good looking or sexy.

“You must treat them exactly like you would a male athlete,” Lawler recalled being instructed. “You could say that they are powerful, they’re strong, they’re athletic,’ all this stuff; but, nothing that would be considered sexist at all.”

Lawler Saying ‘Puppies’ At RAW’s 25th Anniversary

He would later reflect on sneaking the word into the RAW 25th Anniversary show, and McMahon’s immediate reaction to it:

“This is like early on the show and I said, ‘JR [Jim Ross], it’s so nice to be here tonight and we’re gonna go back in time or something and I might even say puppies tonight.’ Immediately I hear [Vince McMahon] in my earphone (grunts), ‘Let’s stay away from that tonight.’ That was the last time it was ever said on there.”

NXT Superstar Receives Standing Ovation After Match With Ciampa

1

Current WWE NXT Superstar and former indie sensation, Dominik Dijakovic (formerly known as both Chris Dijak in the WWE and Donovan Dijak on the independents) received a standing ovation from the crowd at a recent NXT event in Detroit.

The match saw Dijakovic go up against current NXT Champion, Ciampa.

https://twitter.com/DijakovicWWE/status/1038972167197794304

Although ultimately defeated, that didn’t stop Dominik from receiving the kind of response that may have caught the attention of top officials in WWE.

Top Prospect

Dijakovic made his debut for Ring of Honor during the July 27th 2014 event, Future of Honor 2. He would go on to have a break out year with the company after winning their 2015 Top Prospect Tournament, defeating Will Ferrara in the finals of the competition.

Dominik has had a wealth of phenomenal performances on the independent circuit, prior to signing with the WWE.

The superstar would start his WWE career at the WWE Performance Centre during August 2017 before making his NXT debut on September 23rd. His NXT TV debut, under the name Chris Dijak, came on May 20th and saw him coming up short in a match against Ricochet.

Feast Your Eyes

If you haven’t had a chance to watch much of Dijakovic’s matches prior to the WWE, they’re absolutely worth your time.

In particular, his match against fellow recent NXT signee, Keith Lee, which took place on September 3rd during PWG’s Battle Of Los Angeles tournament. This match would go on to be awarded a 5 Star Rating, and for good reason.

Mick Foley Believes His Pro Wrestling Career Is Bit Overrated

2

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is one of the most respected wrestlers in the history of the business. Although he has had a ton of success while competing both in and out of the WWE, he noted in a recent interview that his career as a whole does not live up to its current rating.

The former WWE Champion was recently a guest on the Press Slam podcast to promote his “20 Years of Hell” tour in South Florida. This is when he made his feelings known.

“If you ask me where I stand in wrestling history. I think I’m a bit overrated, to tell you the truth.” He stated that he calls it like he sees it as he doesn’t think that some of the matches stand up the way that he wishes that they were.

He did point out that his current tour of one-man shows have exceeded expectations that fans have as he continues to works to make each show better than his previous one. Foley stated that he’s learned the only thing of portraying Santa for so many years is that it’s not the size of the crowd, but rather to create memories for those who attend.

We noted over the weekend that the WWE Network will be airing “Mick Foley: 20 Years of Hell” after the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on September 16. The show, which was held at the Mr. Smalls Theatre earlier this year, featured a live Q&A as well as Nita Strauss performing Foley’s theme song as he came out to the stage.

This will mark Foley’s second show that will be available on the streaming service of the sports entertainment company. The first season “Holy Foley,” which featured Foley, his daughter Noelle and the rest of the family, aired on the WWE Network in 2016 and lasted for ten episodes.

NJPW Road To Destruction ‘Blue Justice VIII’ Results (9.9)
