Ember Moon Reveals Her Goals As NXT Women’s Champion

1

WWE.com recently did an interview with NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon; in which she discusses various topics such as winning the strap at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Asuka congratulating her on the win, and her goal as NXT Women’s Champion. You can check out the highlights below:

Winning the NXT Women’s Title at TakeOver: WarGames:

“As soon as I won the title, I remember having to do an interview right away. By the time I got to locker room, it was completely empty. I put the title down, I put my armor down and I just stared at the both of them. I just said to myself, ‘I finally did it.’ I finally solidified every decision that I made in my career and justified them. I just took a moment to step out of the craziness and live in that moment of happiness.”

Asuka congratulating her:

“Asuka and I started the exact same day at the WWE Performance Center, and though our paths were different, they always seem to intertwine. We used to travel together and encourage each other to be better in and out of the ring. It was awesome to have her show that much respect by presenting me the NXT Women’s Championship and celebrate our mutual love for wrestling in the middle of the ring.”

Her goal as champion:

“My goal now is to become the longest-reigning champion in NXT history. I wasn’t able to end Asuka’s undefeated streak, but I can break her record for the longest-reigning Women’s Champion in NXT. I want to prove that my myth is a legend rising and forever solidify my place in WWE history.”

Vince Russo Claims WWE Superstar Reported Sexual Assault to Him

19

On a recent episode of Vince Russo’s podcast, he claims while he was in WWE a female wrestler reported to him that she was sexually assaulted. The assault was said to involve another member of the WWE roster.

Ryan Satin of the Pro Wrestling Sheet posted a clip of the podcast:

https://twitter.com/ryansatin/status/939180036715716608

Vince Russo’s Claims Transcribed

“When I was at the WWE, one of the female wrestlers came up to me, and actually told me that she was raped by another wrestler on the roster. She told me who it was, she was very upset, she was very shaken, and I’m sure after all these years she still carries that pain with her, which is really unfortunate.”

Former WWE wrestler, Shelly Martinez (aka Ariel), then came forward with a similar claim.

Ric Flair’s Advice For Living Life

5

Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer and 16-time World Champion Ric Flair was recently a guest on the latest episode of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton’s (of the Rock N’ Roll Express) podcast, the School of Morton. Flair discussed his hospitalization, falling out of a boat and being rescued by Ricky Morton, his thoughts on Matt Lauer getting fired from NBC, and his advice for living life. Here are the highlights:

His hospitalization:

“I got a really sharp pain in my stomach. I knew the pain. That was very similar to the pain I had the last time. Wendy took me to the hospital and my intestine had broken open and that’s the last thing I remember. I don’t remember anything else. On Monday they put me in an induced coma. I stayed in that and on life support for 11 days. I don’t remember any of it. I just dreamt… I had to learn how to walk again. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t twist the top off a Gatorade bottle or open a diet coke I lost forty-three pounds.”

Falling out of a moving boat and Ricky Morton rescuing him:

“I was trying to figure out my way. It was about a mile to the shore each way… maybe a little less I was trying to figure out which way was closer when you guys found me.”

Morton on pulling Ric Flair back into the boat:

“This is true… this is Ric Flair, he had a $2,000 suit on… I pulled Ric in the boat. He had a necktie on, one sock and his underwear. That’s all he had on”.

Matt Lauer getting fired from NBC:

“$25 million a year salary. Are you kidding me. Who could blow that deal?”

His advice for living life:

“For me I would say make the most of every day. When you come close to losing that opportunity it makes you realize all the more how lucky you are to have that opportunity. So make the most of every day.”

Angelina Love Reveals Her Cancelled WWE Debut In 2006

2

Former six-time IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion Angelina Love was recently interviewed on the Pancakes and Powerslams Show to discuss a variety of professional wrestling topics. Love discussed being pulled from her debut on SmackDown while in the crowd, and explained why she left IMPACT Wrestling. You can check out the highlights here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQiIySoA8B4

Being pulled from her SmackDown Live debut while in the crowd:

“I was literally sitting, planted in the crowd, with my debut segment on SmackDown next, and I got pulled. My segment got completely cut out, and the people I was supposed to work with went straight into a completely different storyline. In 2006, there were talks about doing something with JBL, but that never happened. Then I had gone back up to SmackDown in August of that year, to do something with Matt Hardy.

“I remember they had me [sitting] in the front row in the crowd. The first segment was Booker T, when he was King Booker, knighting Finlay and Regal. The next segment was Matt Hardy supposed to go over Psicosis or Super Crazy, he was supposed to go over one of them. I was standing there, so happy and clapping, and he would [come over] and say, ‘who’s this blonde girl?’, and eventually I would end up being his girlfriend. We’re like minutes, if not less, of my segment starting, and the guy, the floor manager who planted me, patted me on the shoulder, pulled me over and said ‘your segment got cut.’ [Eventually] I was told that as soon as the show started, Vince rewrote the whole show.”

Why she decided to leave IMPACT Wrestling:

– “Once [Davey Richards and I] had our blow-off match, the writing was on the wall, and I’m just at a point in my life where I’m a mother, I’ve been with Impact for 10 years. I saw where it was going, and it just was not something that I [was interested in]. Use me full force, because I’m worth it, or I gotta go. I know my worth.”

Alexa Bliss Reacts To WWE Working On Christmas

4

WWE Monday Night RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was recently interviewed by Sporting News to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. Bliss discussed being in the same locker room as her best friend Nia Jax, what are the differences between RAW and SmackDown Live, and WWE airing a live episode of RAW on Christmas Day. Here are the highlights:

Sharing a locker room with Nia Jax:

“It’s great! When we were in NXT, we were best friends immediately, like within a day. When we were separated, it was a little tough because we couldn’t keep in touch as much but then as soon as we were back on the same brand, we instantly clicked again. We travel together. We hang out together even when we’re not on the road. You would think we’d get sick of each other but we don’t. We’re like sisters.

“We bicker like sisters. We have fun like sisters. We’re consistently just trying to make each other laugh. When you’re in a business like this, it’s grueling. It’s traveling, it’s constant. There’s drama. When you have your best friend there, it all kind of goes away and it’s so much fun.”

The differences between SmackDown Live and RAW:

“There’s really not a big difference. I’d say the only big difference is when I first started on Raw, I noticed there is a different sense of urgency because Raw is deemed the flagship show. So there’s always a little more urgency when it comes to Raw. But I do miss SmackDown a lot. The locker room is great. The people on SmackDown are amazing to work with. It’s basically just been like the new kid at school. It’s different but eventually, it just becomes natural again.”

WWE airing a live episode of RAW on Christmas Day:

“Honestly, I didn’t really have an opinion on it. [Laughs] It’s what we do. This is our job and no matter what day it falls on we have to do our job. I know some people were not too happy about it — the people that have families and stuff like that — but it’s work. It’s what we have to do. We signed up for it. I don’t really have an opinion on it. I just figured I’d make the best of it.”

Chris Jericho Reveals His WWE Contract Status

9

Chris Jericho recently had an interview with Rolling Stone where he talked about his WWE Status and more. Below are some highlights from his interview:

Working with ROH for his cruise and if he plans to show up at any ROH event to promote it:

“No, that’s up to Ring of Honor. When I signed Ring of Honor, I let them decide who’s in the tournament and what to do. I get emails everyday from people saying, ‘Can I be in it?’ I don’t know, ask Ring of Honor. It’s their responsibility. I’m not going to be hanging around Ring of Honor. My association with them is that they’re putting on an amazing tournament on my cruise and that’s kind of the extent of it.”

If he is focused on non WWE Projects in 2018:

“I haven’t been full-time with the WWE since 2010. That’s something a lot of people don’t realize, because when I come back there’s always a good angle. And 2016 was one of the best years of my career, so people are always asking when I’m going back but there were no plans to go back. There still isn’t. I knew that I was leaving in May 2017 because the new Fozzy record would be coming out around that time, the cruise was culminating, the new book came out in August; I’ve have another season of But I’m Chris Jericho! that [debuted] December 7th; I have the special on the Travel Channel that was possibly a series, so I have a lot of stuff going on.”

His upcoming match with Kenny Omega:

“I never expected the Kenny Omega-Jericho thing, that just kind of came up. It was something that I thought was really cool that fans never expected would happen and once it happens it just blows their minds. It’s definitely the most talked about match in the wrestling world today. I just saw a big sign for it on the marquee at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It’s a worldwide phenomenon match and one of the few true dream matches that exist in this day and age. Once again, it puts me right back in the thick of things headlining the Tokyo Dome. It’s kind of the way that I’ve built my life and professional career. It’s all a lot of fun to do, so the WWE takes a back burner. That’s the way it is and that’s the way it’s been for the last little while. Will I go back? I’m sure I will, but if I don’t it wouldn’t bother me either because I’ve had a lot of great times there, but I’ve got a lot of stuff on the horizon that’s building as well.”

If he has any part-time contract with WWE:

“Nope. My contract ended with them on April 30th, 2017.”

James Storm Discusses His Departure From IMPACT Wrestling

15

Former IMPACT Wrestling star James Storm recently spoke to Cerrito Live on a number of professional wrestling topics. Storm discussed his departure from IMPACT Wrestling and his thoughts on the future of the promotion. You can check out the highlights here:

Leaving IMPACT Wrestling: “It actually hasn’t [become] official for me, but, yes, I have left Impact Wrestling and it’s just one of those things where it just kind of felt like I did everything I can do with that company and the landscape of it has changed from the time I was there.” Storm continued, “but so many people want to frown upon Dixie [Carter] and Jeff [Jarrett] and all that, but the reason I thank them and Bob Ryder is because basically if it wasn’t for those guys, there would be no ‘Cowboy’ James Storm.

“There might not be an AJ Styles and might not be a Bobby Roode, might not be all these other guys who got the breaks that Jeff gave us when he started up TNA Impact Wrestling back in the day.”

His thoughts on the future of the promotion: “I wish I could say either way and I never wish bad upon anybody and I definitely don’t wish bad upon Impact Wrestling because I’m not there anymore because to me, it gives the boys another place to work where they might not have another place to work. It gives them television exposure and all of that. And as far as where they’ll be, I don’t know.

“I just know that they need a lot of work in different departments. It’s definitely not the wrestling side because the boys are bringing it. So, hopefully, like I said, hopefully, they’ll be around for a while, just to give the guys another place to work and be able to make a living.”

Austin Aries Talks Being Contacted By IMPACT Wrestling After WWE Departure

5

Former WWE Superstar Austin Aries recently joined former WWE European Champion Sean “X-Pac” Waltman’s podcast, X-Pac12360, to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. Aries discussed being contacted by IMPACT Wrestling after his WWE release, what kind of wrestling promotion he’d like to work with now, and the endless opportunities he now has away from WWE. Here are the highlights:

IMPACT Wrestling contacting him after leaving WWE:

“We had some talks but really for me, the only position I was interested in there was the position of being a decision maker. I told Dixie (Carter) when I left there I wouldn’t come back and work for anybody. But If I was going to come back there (Impact), that I had to be in a position to make a difference. I know they just went through a big régime change, I know we had some discussion about me coming in there and possibly being part of the team.

“But I know where I am right now in my career and all the possibilities and things I have in front of me, I really couldn’t invest myself emotionally into that because let’s be honest they’ve got a lot of work to do there. They’ve done a lot of bad business over the years and they’ve got a lot to overcome. And I think the guys there know that and I wish them luck.”

What kind of wrestling promotion he’d like to work with:

“I don’t wanna stamp my name of approval on places that aren’t doing it the right way or at least trying to do it the right way. It’s very important to me that if I show up somewhere, I’m going to believe in what you’re doing or trying to do. And if I feel at any point that that shifts, I have no problem walking away from that. I’m not gonna patch my name on places that are doing the old way of business. We want to move forward, we wanna have places where guys can make a good living.”

The endless opportunities he now has:

“I had to divide my time, had some restrictions and during that time, I had a herniated disc in my neck and I had to get right before I can get back in the ring. I’m really lucky and thankful that my opportunities were endless. I have seen people reaching out, booking me on their show. I really had the opportunity to pick and choose where I wanna go, make my own schedule, decide where I wanted to stamp my name.”

Jimmy Jacobs On His WWE Departure

0

Former WWE Writer Jimmy Jacobs recently appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast where he talked about his WWE departure and more. Below are some highlights from his interview:

Working a match for WWE in 2005:

“My first time wrestling in a WWE ring was in 2005 when I wrestled Eddie Guerrero on SmackDown. They were doing a program with him and Rey Mysterio, and I was just at the show hanging out with my buddy Paul London in Pennsylvania, and they needed someone to work with Eddie, Couple of guys had seen me before; they looked me up and down and told me that I was working with Eddie Guerrero tonight and it was an awesome experience. I was 21 years old. I had attended the show not expecting to work and then all of a sudden I was in a match with one of the best performers ever.”

Introducing himself to Eddie Guerrero before the match:

“I went up to Eddie Guerrero and introduced myself and told him that I think we are going to be working together tonight, and he thanked me for wanting to be in the match with him. He said that he wanted to apologize because the match needed to be all about him, but wanted to thank me anyway for doing it, like I was doing him a favor or something, He said to me that God-willing we will work together again in the future under better circumstances. He had given Rey the brainbuster on the steps the week before; he had taken Rey’s mask. This week he comes to the ring with Rey’s mask, and he wrestles this kid while putting on Rey’s mask on me and beat the s**t out of me while I had Rey’s mask on.”

His WWE departure:

“There is zero bitter feelings; I had a fun two and a half years there. I have zero bitterness of why they fired me. This past six weeks has been the time of my life. If Vince wanted to keep me around he would have kept me around. I don’t even know how that got in front of him, but he had made the decision that I needed to go. I was cool with that because I felt that I needed to go.”

Vince and Stephanie McMahon Comment on 1st Women’s Match in Abu Dhabi

3

Both Vince and Stephanie McMahon have recently commented on the Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks match from Abu Dhabi last night.

The match was the first between two females in the country. Bliss and Banks both wore outfits which covered everything but their hands and heads to adhere to the country’s cultural norms.

Raw Women’s Division

With Paige’s return and the recent additions of Asuka, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville, the division has grown considerably in recent months. It looks as though they are building towards a Paige vs. Asuka match, which could be held at the Royal Rumble.

As for the championship picture, Bliss will pass Charlotte in 10 days as the longest reigning Raw women’s champion since the brand split.

Top NJPW Star Suffers Injury, Pulled From Tour

2

One of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s top stars will miss the remainder of the World Tag League tour. Hiroshi Tanahashi has suffered a right knee injury and has been pulled from the remaining shows.

The company released the following statement:

“Due to an injury suffered to his right knee, New Japan Pro Wrestling has come to the decision to remove Hiroshi Tanahashi from December 7’s Yamaguchi card. Further, Tanahashi will be out of action for the remainder of the World Tag League tour, which ends December 11 in Fukuoka.
New Japan Pro Wrestling apologizes to fans who were looking forward to seeing Tanahashi perform.”

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Switchblade Jay White

At WrestleKingdom 12, Tanahashi is scheduled to face “Switchblade” Jay White.

Over the summer, several vignettes laid the groundwork for White’s return. White attacked Tanahashi last month after Tanahashi defended his IC title against Kota Ibushi, setting up the match between the two on January 4th.

White had been scheduled for the final show of the World Tag League tour on Monday in Fukuoka.

Rumour Killer On WWE Signing Mae Young Classic Competitor, MVP On Sasha Banks

5

–  It was rumored for a while that WWE is looking to sign Indie Wrestler and Mae Young Classic competitor Tessa Blanchard, though it appears that these speculations are false.

Tessa noted on Twitter recently that she is now taking bookings for 2018, meaning that not only the Indie Star has not reached an agreement with WWE but she is also not expecting to be signed anytime soon:

https://twitter.com/Tess_Blanchard/status/936718521421135873

Blanchard had wrestled several matches for NXT last year. She also took part in the Mae Young Classic earlier this year where she was defeated by Kairi Sane in the first round of the tournament.

– As noted before, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss made history during the recent WWE Live Event in UAE by becoming the first female WWE Superstars to compete in the Middle East.

After the match, MVP commented on Banks’ outfit for the event, which was similar to the ring gear of the former WWE Star via the following Instagram post:

WWE Considering Australian PPV in 2018

14

WWE does not like to hold PPV events outside of their traditional markets. Despite this, there are reports they are considering running an Australian PPV next year.

WWE has run several successful live event tours in Australian. In 2002, WWE’s Global Warming tour drew over 50,000 fans in Melbourne.

According to a report from the Pro Wrestling Sheet, there have been internal discussions about holding a PPV at the Melbourne Cricket Ground next year. The venue holds 100,000 people.

WWE’s Australian Market

News that WWE is looking to bring a PPV to Australia may come as a surprise considering the company recently released Emma, who is from Melbourne.

Emma (Tenille Dashwood) was one of the most popular Superstars on WWE’s 2017 Australian tour.

The Singh Brothers On Being Attacked By Jinder Mahal

1

Samir and Sunil Singh, collectively known as the Singh Brothers recently talked to Sportskeeda while promoting WWE’s upcoming Live Event in India. Below are some highlights from their interview:

Being attacked by Jinder Mahal:

“We deserved it! We deserved it. We let him down! 2-on-1 against AJ Styles; we had a huge opportunity. AJ is one of the best wrestlers in the world, probably in the last few decades. He truly is Phenomenal, and it was an opportunity of a lifetime. And we let The Maharaja down. And he [Mahal] had every right to put us in our place for that. Lesson learned, brother. Lesson learned.”

Learning from WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels:

“Yes. We’re very lucky. When we started in NXT, the (WWE) Performance Center, Shawn Michaels had just moved. And we kind of gravitated towards him, and he took a liking to us. I think he saw a lot of Marty [Jannetty] and Shawn in us. Because we were known as ‘The Bollywood Boys’ at that time. Even our gear was a lot like ‘The Rockers’ with the tassels and the bright colors. A lot of our tag team moves were like The Rockers, so he took a liking to us. And I would say Shawn really helped us get to this point. And the cool thing is that he’s the greatest of all time, in our humble opinion. So, to have him there and pick his brain, and ask him questions—We’re like, ‘Hey, what do we do here?’, ‘What do we do there?’. And even to this day, he’s still willing to [help].”

Their goal as a tag team:

“Our goal since we were kids was to one day become WWE Tag Team Champions. It would be great to be the first ever WWE Indian-born Tag Team Champions. Jinder was the first WWE Champion — Indian-born. So, that could be a great historic moment for India. Absolutely, the goal is to one day become WWE Tag Team Champions, and the only way that happens is when you start wrestling as a tag team. If that opportunity comes up, great, but right now our focus, our main priority is making sure Jinder becomes two-time WWE Champion.”

Roman Reigns Says He Is The Best In-Ring Performer Today

24

Roman Reigns recently sat down with Corey Graves for WWE Network’s Straight To The Source where he talked about a number of wrestling related topics. Below are some highlights from his interview:

Potentially retiring the Undertaker at WrestleMania:

“Being out there with him was incredible, I’ll never forget those things I felt. They didn’t teach us that. They didn’t tell you how to potentially retire The Undertaker or how to take that emotionally, how to accept that responsibility. Obviously, it was a great responsibility and I’m always up to the task, but it was emotional, man. It was way more [emotional] than I thought it was going to be, to be honest. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve been calling it ‘heavy’ as far as the emotions and stuff. It was more than I expected it to be. I want to stand out and be on the very top, but he just plugged in so much time and earned so much respect. It was cool to be able to feel that. I want to achieve that. I’ve never felt that level of respect from an audience.”

If he is the top guy:

“Every day of the week. This is the top of the mountain here point blank, period. I’m going to bust my ass and do my thing. And it was his yard. It’s mine now.”

Being the best in-ring performer today:

“I’m the best performer, in-ring, in the world right now, You can go to my matches and my pay-per-views over the last three years and you can say I’m an idiot or you can be like, ‘man, he has a point.’ Do you know what I mean? I didn’t come here for any other reason.”

Mock-Up of Neville’s Original ‘Superhero’ Themed Ring Gear

24

You may remember that rumors were circulating of a ‘Mighty Mouse’ themed gimmick for the former Cruiserweight Champion Neville when he was first called up to the main roster…well it looks as though those reports weren’t far off the mark.

Former WWE employee James McKenna has tweeted a mock-up of the ring gear WWE had originally designed for Neville prior to his main roster debut.

You can check out the image below, it has elements of superhero characters such as Arrow and Nightwing, but mostly it just seems to reek of Hurricane Helms.

Step back, there’s a Geordie coming through…

WWE Teasing A New NXT Superstar Is Coming Soon

12

The official Twitter account of NXT posted a .GIF on Wednesday evening teasing that a new Superstar is coming soon.

As seen above, the word “soon” is shown with two spades replacing the O’s in “soon.” For what it’s worth, Mae Young Classic competitor Shayna Baszler was known as “The Queen of Spades” during her time wrestling on the independent scene.

Baszler is under contract with WWE and began training full-time at the Performance Center in Orlando back in late September. During an interview with WWE.com, Baszler said,  “I’m looking forward to getting out there and twisting limbs off and breaking bodies. I can’t wait.”

A member of the ‘MMA Four Horsewomen’ and former training partner of Ronda Rousey, Baszler described WWE as the next step in her progression as a combat athlete.

“It’s very serious to me and, in some ways, a lot more important [than MMA] based on where I come from,” Baszler said. “Waving the banner of my coaches is a heavy flag to wield, so it’s something I take very serious.”

“Because of that, I wanted to start at the beginning and show that I’m willing to start at the bottom and prove myself and work my way up, so there’s no excuse when I get here and I’m breaking these girls in half. I didn’t get any ‘gimmes.’”

Alexa Bliss & Sasha Banks Make History In Abu Dhabi

17

RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks made history on Thursday when they became the first female WWE Superstars to wrestle in the Middle East.

During previous WWE tours of the Middle East, women have not competed. Both Alexa and Sasha “covered up” their usual skimpy ring gear and wore body suits to comply with local societal requirements.

Alexa Bliss retained the RAW Women’s Championship in a hard fought match. Afterwards, Sasha Banks got emotional talking about the experience. She said she got emotional several times throughout the match and is beyond proud to be part of the historic occasion.
