21

Melina posted the following message yesterday on her Twitter account in response to the negativity she has been engulfed with as of late.

“In Dublin. Such a beautiful day. Listening to TI-Live Your Life. There are hateful people trying to hurt others to make themselves feel better.

“People… Just live your life. Enjoy today peeps and love the people who are there for you to the fullest.”

Meanwhile, former WWE star Val Venis, who posted an inflammatory video directed towards Melina and boyfriend John Morrison earlier this week, has continued to besmirch the “Sexy, Smart and Powerful” WWE Diva. Foley Upset With Donation Figures, Sarita Starring In Comic Book

9

— Mick Foley is disappointed with the lack of donations from wrestling fans for his #10forRAINN Campaign, which combats sexual violence. Though he has over 75,000 followers on Twitter, he has only garnered 200 donations so far — and the majority of them were from non-wrestling fans.

“Have to admit to ABC World News on Monday that we’ve had only 200 donations – and that a good % of those are coming from non-wrestling fans,” he wrote this morning on Twitter. “Had hoped #10forRAINN would be a way of showing people what good the wrestling world could do.”

— TNA Knockout Sarita’s persona in Mexico, Dark Angel, will be featured in a comic book series.

“I am very excited to announce that I am involved in the very early stages of developing a comic book starring Dark Angel,” she wrote on her official website. “It’s a three-issue, action-horror story entitled Dark Legacy. Posted are some sample pages from the book and it looks just awesome! We will keep you updated as things progress.”

Tough Enough *Spoilers* Miss USA, Eliminations

3

With WWE Tough Enough drawing strong ratings on Monday nights and looking like a hit show for WWE and the USA Network, we’ve got an update with some behind-the-scenes details as well as some spoilers regarding future eliminations. You’ve been warned – spoilers head!

WWE Tough Enough finished filming 10 episodes around March 19-20. Ariane was already back home on February 18th according to her Twitter, so it was obvious she was going to be eliminated first. AJ Kirsch and Eric Watts returned home March 20th which could indicate they are in the finale. If not, it’s likely they’ll make it far. Miss USA Rima Fakih returned home March 16th, which indicates she makes it far in the show- but not to the finale.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Miss USA had to use lots of body makeup to cover up all of the bruises on her legs once she was eliminated from WWE Tough Enough and had to return to her Miss USA duties. While a bruised-up Miss USA doesn’t sound like the best spokesperson for the organization, pageant officials gave Fakih permission to do Tough Enough because they felt it would help her get an acting career started.

It’s said that while in the Tough Enough house, Fakih drank heavily, used a lot of foul language and was very critical of Miss USA owner Donald Trump. It will be interesting to see how much of her crazy antics wind up on the show and what gets edited out.

It’s been heavily speculated that Rima will join the WWE Divas roster, regardless of how she does on Tough Enough. She holds the Miss USA crown until June 19th.

While most of the eliminations have been taped already, the winner of Tough Enough will be announced during a special live broadcast in a few months.

Chris Jericho Says He’s Returning To WWE Following DWTS

21

Chris Jericho indicated to wrestling fans in a video message that he will be returning to WWE following his run on Dancing with the Stars.

“When I come back to WWE when this show is done, we can continue right where we picked off. You can boo and cheer and yell,” Jericho stated.

Jericho is asking that WWE Universe members pay him back for his many years of entertaining audiences and putting his body on the line by continuing to vote for him on Dancing with the Stars. He says the longer he stays on the program, the better it is for the entire WWE Universe.

“I’m taking this universe into places we haven’t been,” Jericho said. “Twenty-three million people watch Dancing with the Stars every week. The Tonight Show, Rachael Ray, Ellen, all these people are starting to understand what it is that we do as WWE Superstars and why the WWE Universe is so loyal.

“I think it’s very important to remember, it’s not just me I’m representing. I’m a pioneer, an ambassador for WWE on this show. Continue to vote for me.”

Jericho’s next performance takes place Monday. He is among the show’s final eight contestants.

Impact Rating Continues Slide, Hernandez’s TNA Negotiations

28

— The rating is in for Thursday’episode of TNA iMPACT! on Spike – and it’s not great news for TNA heading into Sunday’s pay-per-view.

The 4/14 episode of TNA iMPACT! drew a 1.14 cable rating, down from last week’s 1.15. This week’s show averaged 1.5 million viewers, the same number as last week.

This is the 6th consecutive week that the iMPACT! rating has fallen. Prior to this week and last week, iMPACT!’s ratings for the previous weeks have been 1.18, 1.22, 1.27, 1.25 and 1.36 in previous weeks.

— Hernandez has retained the services of nationally-recognized attorney and talent agent Bruce Tharpe to renegotiate his contract with TNA Wrestling. In addition to being a well-known attorney, Tharpe also brings to the table extensive wrestling experience having worked for both the Florida office under Eddie Graham and the Houston wrestling office under Paul Boesch before becoming licensed as an attorney.

— Generation Me member Max revealed on his Twitter account yesterday that his wife is pregnant with their first child.

— TNA Wrestling posted an image on their shop website yesterday of a Rob Van Dam T-shirt with “RDV” written at the bottom of the shirt as opposed to “RVD”. The image was quickly deleted and replaced by the intended one. This also occurred on the organization’s Facebook page as an image of the misspelled shirt was posted on the page and quickly deleted. Several users made light of the miscue in the comment box, though many of the remarks were deleted.

Mickie Discusses Whether’s She’s Happy In TNA, Edge’s Retiring

Busted Open satellite radio show with Mickie James
Hosts: Dave LaGreca and Doug Mortman
Airs Mondays and Wednesdays on Sirius 125 and XM 241 from 2-4 ET
Visit Facebook.com/bustedopen for more information.

James on her match at Lockdown and wrestling with a separated shoulder: “I’m really excited about it. I’m going in there with a separated shoulder and hopefully be able to tough through the match. I’m feeling better every day honestly and trying to get more range of motion back and I definitely hope physically to be 100 percent. I don’t think my shoulder will be 100 percent but luckily it’s my left shoulder and I’m a righty, so that kind of helps.”

James reflects on the tremendous cage match she had with Tara on Impact a few months back: “That match with Tara was the first cage match I’ve ever been in. That was definitely a very scary thing. I don’t think I thought about it beforehand how high the cage actually is and how scary it is. You see the guys do the crazy stuff like that all the time and its like they think nothing of it…..or maybe the same things running through their mind when actually they get up there and they go ‘Oh God, this is really high!’. There definitely is a lot of pressure because it was such an amazing match in itself…..to be able to compete against myself in the same kind of match and going in kind of injured anyways, it’s definitely one of those things that I have to be aware of and be careful of.”

James thoughts on Edge’s retirement due to injury: “He’s really just a genuinely nice guy. I have nothing but the upmost respect for him and what he’s done in this industry and the legacy he has built for himself. Before him, the whole ladders match thing with him and the Hardys and that Edge and Christian phase….that was really a raising the bar level on that whole deal and just everything he’s done since then.

“It’s sad that due to injured he has to retire due to the fact that it has taken a huge toll on his body but at least I think it’s very intelligent of him and it’s a huge pride swallowing thing to recognize the fact that ‘I can’t physically do this, I’m putting my life on the line, it’s not just my body anymore.’. And for him to have to do that and I’m sure its not something that he wanted to do at this moment in time and it was something that we all have to come to terms with, we all can’t wrestle forever…..but I think that he is so talented that theres many other things that he can do that’s gonna continue to keep him out and about and doing things.”

James on Kurt Angle re-signing with TNA: “I love Kurt. He’s awesome. He’s got so much going for him with the Angle Foods thing and that’s starting to take off and it’s a really cool thing. He has such a name for himself anyways and to be the only male to hold an Olympic gold medal, everything he’s already done……I’m sure he doesn’t have to continue to wrestle but he just loves it so much. He has such a huge passion and love for this business. It’s just amazing. I think we’re very honored to have him as a part of the roster.”

James’ mid-term report card on TNA (with her being on the roster for about six months or so now): “I’m having a blast. It was definitely something that I was still on the fence whether or not I should go or not and what I was going to be able to bring or do that is different than anybody else has already done. It’s been a fun journey, a cool locker room, I’ve made some cool friends and I’ve been able to do some really compelling stuff and raise the bar even for myself. To be able to main event Impact, and do my first cage match, and have a cool storyline with Tara go on to Madison and have a compelling storyline with her as well…..I think it’s really…..brought a different spice to the show. Hopefully, they (TNA) feel the same.”

MAILBAG: Is There Still Bad Blood Between The Rockers?

12

SEScoops Mailbag for April 15th

(submit YOUR questions to [email protected])

Q: So is the Kane/Undertaker feud that was going on before Taker was buried alive completely over or are they going to go back to it upon Taker’s return? – Ryan B.

A: You assume that Undertaker will return for a program at some point, but that’s not etched in stone. If he’s back before next year’s Mania, it sounds like Triple H will be waiting for him. Also, it would be mighty difficult to take such a feud seriously considering that Kane has seemingly reverted back to being a babyface. Going from blowing Santino’s trombone on TV (hmm, that doesn’t sound PG) back to being a heel to feud with Taker seems unlikely, and you know what, I hope it doesn’t happen. For years, Kane lost virtually all of his singles matches against his brother and FINALLY racks up a string of PPV wins over him last year without retribution. It would be rather fitting for their feud to end on such a note.

Q: [Some time] ago, someone sent you a question asking about the first cage match being in 1937 and if it was true. That brought a couple of questions to mind for me. When was the chair first used in a match, as well as the first table? – Bryan Weeks

A: First, it’s impossible to know for sure when the first chair shot or first table bump took place. They each could have occurred in some random match in Japan 40 years ago for all we know. Now, with that disclaimer out of the way, some research indicates the use of folding chairs in pro wrestling isn’t really traceable prior to the 1950’s. It is believed that Dory Funk Sr. might have been the first to use them in Texas. He is credited not only for the creation of the Texas Death Match, but wrestling in over 250 of them himself. Seeing as how these were essentially no-holds-barred, anything goes brawls with weapons, the chair was used here a time or two. As for the table, if we’re talking about taking a bump onto or through one, it can be traced as far back as Memphis in the early 80’s.

Q: What was the deal with HBK and the HHH/Undertaker match? Hunter made a big thing about asking Shawn why he was going to beat Taker at WrestleMania on the Raw before, but nothing came of it. Was this an idea [Vince] scrapped afterwards? – Alex L.

A: Hunter and Undertaker pretty much had full control over their match and the buildup to it. Vince didn’t nix anything. Of course, WWE decided that Taker was not losing, but I don’t think that was ever going to be a disputed finish, anyway. As for the go-home Raw show where Michaels appeared and seem to tease something with Hunter, I think you simply read too much into it. My interpretation was that Hunter asked Shawn to tell everyone why he was going to win at Mania, but after hearing Undertaker’s comments earlier in that same segment, HBK freaked and realized that Hunter truly had an impossible task ahead of him. Even though they were best friends, HBK “found religion” and realized that his buddy didn’t stand a chance, hence why he kept saying “I’m sorry, you can’t win” at the end of the segment.

Q: What are your thoughts on the FCW divas division? Some people say it’s better than the divas division on Raw or Smackdown. – Tyler Johnson

A: Who might these people be, pray tell? Just curious. I don’t have access to FCW television since I’m not in Florida, but a cursory check of the FCW website shows seven divas on their roster, all but two of whom were part of the cast from NXT Season Three, including Kaitlyn who won the competition and briefly appeared on Smackdown before being relegated back to developmental. Aksana is apparently their champion, which is frightening. Naomi is probably the most athletically gifted of the bunch, so I can see her doing well. Raquel Diaz is listed as Diva of the Month and she is of course the daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero (which is clearly stated in her bio, which begs the question why they had to give her a different last name). I haven’t seen her wrestle yet, but she’s apparently green as grass, which is to be expected. Lastly, the only thing I know about Sonia is that she’s done some announcing down there and is currently dating Jerry Lawler. It’s good to be the king.

Q: Will the NWO storyline ever brought back to WWE? With Kevin Nash back and possibly X-pack, Big Show, this can be a good angle to turn The CORRE & NEXUS under the NWO banner? – Mohammed

A: This would be a horrible idea. The NWO has been dead and buried since 2002 and that is where it shall stay. Nash is back under a Legends deal with WWE, but has no business being in the ring for more than a token match here and there. Sean Waltman is on good terms with the company and could end up with them in a training capacity at some point, but his Hepatitis C would preclude him from being cleared to wrestle under their Wellness policy. As far as “turning” Nexus and The Corre under the NOW banner, I’m not sure what you mean, but it doesn’t matter. Whether you’re talking about a feud or an alliance, or if you were going to use the NWO to help put over the newer factions, nobody would take them seriously in 2011.

Q: Why did TNA all of a sudden get rid of their octagon ring to get a square ring to copy WWE? – Devin G.

A: They actually had a hexagon ring. An octagon has 8 sides and is what UFC uses. Plain and simple, it was a call made by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff when they first came to TNA over a year ago. They have a more traditional view of what pro wrestling should be, although you would never know it watching Impact on most weeks. And I wouldn’t say they “stole” the idea from WWE, either. For decades, pro wrestling promotions have used a 4-sided ring. It’s not as though Vince McMahon can be credited for being the first to use it.

Q: What’s the real story behind Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels? Was there some major falling out? Did Michaels squash Janetty’s singles push? Or is it simply that Michaels career “took off” and Marty’s didn’t? The reason I ask is because recently Jannetty made some sarcastic comments regarding the HOF induction of Shawn Michaels. What happened that there’s still bad blood after all these years? – Matt Isaia

A: Not sure if these are the remarks you are referencing, but Jannetty had been asked the week before WrestleMania if he would be attending HBK’s induction in Atlanta. His response was, “I want to be there, but the cab ride from where I am is over 22 dollars and 23 cents, give or stank a dolla.” I didn’t realize the crack house was that far from the arena, but I digress. I’m not aware of any lingering bad blood between the two as I had heard they made amends years ago. I know Marty was unhappy when the Rockers were broken up, but Shawn never tried to sabotage Marty’s single career, Marty did a fine job of doing that himself with his hard partying. In 2004, it was Michaels who actually “saved” Marty and baptized him at an event in Phoenix (there are photos floating around online that show he and Marty in a pool together during the baptism). The following year, in promoting Michaels’ match with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania, they even did a Rockers reunion on Raw.

Q: I haven’t seen Ezekiel Jackson in action many times since he joined The Corre except for a few minutes in the 2 out of 3 falls last week on Smackdown. Is he still injured or just kept for the house shows or what because I think he is a great talent and he has the size and the charisma to be a great superstar in WWE? – E.H. from Egypt

A: He stinks in the ring, that’s why you don’t see him wrestling all that much. He’s just not that good. It’s the same reason you don’t see Vladimir Koslov in the ring too much, or Great Khali. They’re limited in what they can do and you need to hide a person’s weaknesses and accentuate their strengths. In the case of Big Zeke, I do think there’s a charisma there that has not yet been tapped.

Q: I’ve always wondered this, is every move planned for a match or are they just told who has to win and its just their job to make it like that? – Harrison M.

A: No match is scripted move for move. In fact, the only time I can recall hearing of such a thing in a big promotion was Randy Savage mapping out his match with Ricky Steamboat move for move, months before their WrestleMania 3 bout. They are given a finish and while certain spots may be suggested for them to incorporate into the match, the workers are left of the their own accord to plan certain spots for their match and call the rest of it in the ring.

Q: I’m from Kentucky and I have always wanted to go to a WrestleMania in KY so I will have a story to tell when I am older (as in 60-70). Is WrestleMania ever coming to Kentucky? – Arthur Bradley Lewis

A: Let’s put it this way. I don’t think you will have a story to tell even if you live to be 100.

Torrie Wilson, Lilian Garcia & Candice Discuss Tough Enough

0

Recap of Torrie Wilson, Lilian Garcia and Candice Michelle’s interview for www.InYourHeadOnline.com on Wednesday – By Nikhil Kalhan

Jack and OneInchBiceps were joined by the beautiful tandem of Torrie Wilson, Lilian Garcia and Candice Michelle. Catch their Touch Enough Recap show on www.ustream.tv/afterbuzztv after Raw every Monday.

Jack asked what should the contestants do when they meet wrestlers? Torrie says it depends on what wrestler you meet but you should shake everyone’s hand. Candice says it’s all about respect especially if they achieved what you wanted.

Jack asked how were they treated? Lilian said she was treated pretty well but a few whispers were said, she gave credit to Howard Finkel and Tony Chimel for training her. Candice Michelle said the men loved her and the woman hated her, she remembered Lita slapped her because she had the best spot to do makeup in the lockeroom. Torrie Wilson said no one had a welcoming party but she said everyone was pretty nice. She was happy to have Stacy Kiebler with her to keep up company. Jack asked what does the TV exposure on Tough Enough give for the losers? Lilian says its brilliant even if you haven’t won the competition you will get a contract because you are exposed to the world. Candice Michelle said WWE should wait to give contracts out after about a month not straightaway like what they have just done.

Jack asked was better for the winner to be on TV? Lillian says as long as they have planned and are ready its fine but depends on the push given by Vince McMahon. Jack asked their thoughts on the Alicia Fox versus Melina match from last week? Lilian said if that’s her favourite match, it’s her favourite match. Candice said she was new to the business so you can’t blame her. Lilian says she could do research on YouTube but how can she search people she doesn’t know.

Jack asked the girls how quickly did you get a passion into it? Candice said she watched when she was growing up, she had a Hulk Hogan doll. Candice said she stopped watching it for a few years when she moved to Los Angeles, but she had no regrets doing it, going to the ring early and getting respect. Torrie Wilson said she appreciated more in WWE then WCW, because she didn’t wrestle. Lilian goes it was rough for her and she didn’t know she was announcing till the morning of the show, she had to earn her respect which she did by learning wrestler’s towns and weights.

OneInchBiceps had a message from the board: Tommy D asked did Lilian enjoyed the feud with Howard Finkel? Lilian Garcia said it was her only match, she remembers doing a run-in and had a lot of fun. Jack asked if there was more pressure to do any more work? Lilian goes never because her role was different. Jack asked what was it like for woman in WCW? Torrie Wilson said it was hard especially at the power-plant where Madusa dropped her on her head. The experience was painful. Candice said her passion fell in love after about a year in the WWE. She enjoyed it often and it must hurt if you had no passion over.

Jack asked if it was hard to be friends of other woman? Candice said people would hate you and like you. It was just a bond which TLC have. TLC all said Stone Cold was the same character he is in Tough Enough. Jack asked their thoughts on Indie wrestlers not making it? Lilian said if you are good enough you will get in. Candice you have to make your dream come true and there are other ways to get in. Jack asked if they had any nick-names? They said that will be revealed later on. Candice said her Victoria and Lilian travelled together and Victoria was known as the “Queen-Bee”.

OneInchBiceps had a question from the board: Matt asked did she gain revenge on Charlie Haas for knocking her of the apron? Lilian said Charlie Haas felt really bad and they are still friends. It was good and it was turned into storyline.

Jack asked what advice would you give for the winner? Lilian said don’t have a big head and give respect when needed, Candice agreed and said be humble to people and they will give you the same. If you do the opposite they will get rid of you.

The twenty minute interview is available here.

Sting Talks About Working A Future WrestleMania, Jeff Hardy

36

Alex Marvez of Scrippsnews.com recently interviewed TNA champion Sting, who had some interesting things to say about why he decided to stay with TNA instead of signing with WWE, the possibility of him working a future WrestleMania and his debacle of a match with Jeff Hardy at TNA Victory Road. Here are some highlights of what Sting said about:

Deciding Against Signing With WWE:

“I’m not going to lie to you — who wouldn’t want to say that they did ‘Wrestlemania’ at least one time? It’s the ultimate event in wrestling. It’s still in the back of my mind that there’s a chance of it happening someday, somehow. I think time may have run out completely now, but who knows?”

“The timing couldn’t have been better (to work ‘Wrestlemania’), but I’m glad it turned out the way it did.”

Sting has said in the past that he is not confident that WWE would portray his character in a good light and also cited “personal reasons that I don’t want to talk about” as reasons he never went to WWE.

His TNA Contract, Which Pays A Lot & Doesn’t Require Many Appearances:

“After 20-something years, is that OK? (Hulk) Hogan is in a similar boat. The difference between me and him is that he’s not in the ring. Lord willing, I hope he gets back in there. But here I still am at the age of 52 bouncing around. Some of the other guys in WWE have the same deal like The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels before he left.

“After a while, some of us just can’t hold it together anymore. I think I’m doing a pretty good job holding on.”

His Match With Jeff Hardy at Victory Road:

“On my first pay-per-view back with TNA and my first world-title match, are you kidding me?” Borden said. “I was already trying to overcome the ‘Oh, they didn’t put (the title) on him again did they? He’s a dinosaur’ stuff, and then you add, ‘What just happened?’ I know everyone’s first reaction was, ‘Wow, they’re really trying to get Sting over (to the fans) so much now that it’s ridiculous. They’ve totally ruined Jeff Hardy.’

“You know the real scoop. This is not what I wanted. I had something really good planned out and was ready to have an incredible match with Jeff that night. I’m very disappointed and hurt. So is everyone else.”

“The ripple effect of that (Hardy) match is bigger than you can imagine.”

24

— Christopher Daniels was originally scheduled to return to TNA Wrestling as the Suicide character, but plans were ultimately changed. He has continued to appear for Ring of Honor while also working for TNA Wrestling.

MAJOR Changes Coming To TNA, Jeff Hardy To Rehab?

36

– We’ve posted a few news items about this in the past week but this story is really being talked about behind the scenes in TNA – so it deserves a closer look. Spike TV and TNA Wretling officials have had extensive talks in recent weeks about bringing sweeping changes to TNA. When we major changes – we’re talking everything – from the company name to the talent roster to the company’s entire identity.

Some have suggested that Dixie Carter’s mother Janice has stepped in and finally put her foot down regarding TNA’s lack of growth or direction. TNA has been spending millions and millions of dollars in recent years establishing the company as a “WWE lite” sports entertainment company. They’ve signed Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, RVD, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson and plenty more WWE castoffs with little-to-no return on their money. It’s been suggested that TNA drastically cut its budget, release most of the expensive top-tier talent and run a promotion that focuses on younger, smaller performers – which would finally give the company an identity that’s completely different from WWE.

TNA changing its name has been suggested for years, but Dixie Carter has always been against it because they have spent so many years and so much money getting the TNA name out there. There has been talk about a new ad campaign that would put a heavy emphasis on the word “impact” .. Impact Wrestling Federation, anyone?

– TNA company officials have been strongly urging Jeff Hardy to enter a rehab program.

Del Rio Will Be Champion, Jericho’s WWE Return & More

23

– Following the surprise retirement of Edge, it’s widely assumed in WWE that it’s only a matter of time before Alberto Del Rio is crowned the new World Heavyweight champion – and it will most likely happen at Extreme Rules when he faces Christian in a Ladder match for the vacant title.

WWE has had plans for Del Rio to win the title this year at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 27, but scrapped those plans both times.

– Injured WWE star Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes has been backstage at WWE’s recent television tapings. Goldust has reportedly been trying to get a job as an agent behind the scenes.

– Former WWE star Chris Jericho appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night to promote his Undisputed book and his current run on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Of course the question came up of when Jericho will return to wrestling. He said that he’ll return when he feels stimulated to go back and can do something different than he’s done in his previous runs.
