An AEW veteran has revealed when he plans to hang up his wrestling boots.
He is former WWE Intercontinental Champion Dustin Rhodes. The Natural has been an active competitor for the last four decades. Amid his hiatus from AEW since last year, Rhodes took to X to respond to a fan’s message.
Dusty Rhodes’s son made it clear he would return to the Jacksonville-based company. At the same time, he revealed he had only a year or so left as an in-ring competitor and wanted to go out on his own terms. You can check out his tweet below:
Oh i am coming back. I am getting impatient but i need to finish on my own terms. And I will. I don’t have long left though, another year or so at most, but I really want to lock in and make it as special as i can. #GoingOutOnMyTerms. #AEW.
Dustin Rhodes has been absent from AEW since he lost his TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher in a Chicago Street Fight in July 2025. Following that, Rhodes underwent a double knee replacement procedure and has been on the road to recovery for a long time.
With the former WWE star getting impatient to return to AEW, we will have to wait and see when it actually happens.
