Chelsea Green’s broken orbital bone may not keep her out of the ring for as long as initially feared.
Speaking on The AJ Styles Show, WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles revealed that he recently spoke with the Interim WWE Women’s Champion at the WWE Performance Center and believes she could be wearing a protective mask soon.
Green suffered the orbital fracture during the August 7 episode of SmackDown, less than a week after capturing the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. WWE has since given her 30 days to receive medical clearance to defend the championship.
AJ Styles Saw Chelsea Green At WWE Performance Center
Styles said he crossed paths with Green while she was visiting WWE’s trainers at the Performance Center in Florida. Based on what he saw, the former WWE Champion believes Green is doing well despite the setback.
He also predicted that WWE could eventually have her compete in a protective mask once she’s cleared to return.
They’re gonna throw a mask on her, I’m sure of it. I actually did get to see her. She came down to the trainers. I believe she lives in Florida. I saw her with the trainers at the Performance Center.
Styles added that Green appeared to be taking the situation in stride rather than dwelling on the unfortunate timing of the injury.
She’s doing okay. She’s not mad about the situation. It is what it is. She said she has some bad luck.
He added:
To me, when I see someone get hurt and they go ‘Nope, we’re still doing this,’ to me, it makes them a bigger babyface. Becky Lynch became a super duper star because she got punched in the face…
She became a star because of it, because that picture of her all bloodied up going ‘Come on’ was so freaking awesome. Liv Morgan is one of the toughest people I know. She gets busted up all the time and keeps coming back.
