Carmelo Hayes was specifically requested for 946.
The former US Champion made his surprise return to WWE TV during last night’s Raw main event. He took out Solo Sikoa with a crowbar and officially joined the 946 stable alongside Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, and Jaida Parker.
False Finish brought some backstage news on this reveal, claiming that Royce Keys specifically asked for Melo to be included in his faction. They also mentioned that Hayes was originally expected to continue being part of the US title picture, and he was slated to take the belt off Trick Williams before the change of plans:
Carmelo Hayes had been involved in a long-term storyline with Williams and the recently returned Baron Corbin over the US title in the past few months. His last televised match came during the August 14 episode of SmackDown, where Corbin defeated him to retain the US title.
Royce Keys introduced the OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) as his new partners during the August 24 episode of Raw. With Melo being taken off TV around the same time, it appears that his inclusion in the group had been decided by then.
The general belief is that this feud is leading towards a WarGames match at the November 28 Survivor Series PPV. Now we will have to see if this means Jaida Parker will be part of the cage match or they will find another talent to help complete the lineup.
