Big Show once threatened to quit WWE.
The wrestling veteran, now going by the name Paul Wight, recently spoke to Joey Franchize for a new interview. He talked about things such as his weight loss journey, having 11 surgeries in 7 years, and more. The former World Champion also opened up about leaving WWE for AEW and noted that the biggest reason behind his decision was still being able to compete.
Wight mentioned that AEW has many experienced producers, but claimed it’s not his gig. The former Big Show explained that his way of teaching younger guys is working programs with them and sharing knowledge while they’re in the heat of the moment. The former World Champion then revealed that he hates the producer job so much that he threatened to quit WWE when the company tried to make him one:
Being an office guy is not really my thing. I fought that tooth and nail. I remember one time WWE came to me many years before I left, wanting me to be a producer. I said, ‘Please don’t do that to me. I’ll quit now. I don’t want to be a producer.’ I didn’t want to be on that side of the coin. You know, I’m not a general. I’m not a captain. I’m a soldier. I get in the mud. ‘Let’s mix it up.’ So that’s my deal.
Paul Wight made his AEW return after a long hiatus before this week’s Beach Break special of Dynamite. The wrestling giant got physical during the segment for the first time since the 2024 Jericho Cruise. You can check out a video of his return here.
