Brandi Rhodes wanted to focus on her mom duties.
The former WWE announcer wrestled regularly for AEW during her stint with the company. When her husband Cody Rhodes jumped ship to WWE in 2022, the expectation was that she would be following his path and making her in-ring debut for the Endeavor-owned promotion soon.
Reports at the time had suggested that the female star had trained at the Performance Center with the same goal in mind, but nothing came out of it.
On the most recent episode of a Shot of Brandi, Carmelo Hayes brought up Rhodes’ stint at the PC in 2022. Brandi Rhodes then explained what really happened, first mentioning how she had a great time training with people like Norman Smiley and Fit Finlay during her time there:
I was having a really good time. That was super fun. So I was wanting to come back fully, in the full swing. Because I had had Liberty and I felt like I was ready to be back to wrestling full-time and whatever.
So I went to PC, they had me there for like two weeks. And here’s what happened: I had a great time. I enjoyed it so much. I worked a lot with Norman and Fit and a lot of girls that are on right now. Super awesome, great.

The training camp, however, also made her realize the difficulty of juggling her duties as a mom with her in-ring ambitions. With her daughter Liberty being only a year old, Brandi Rhodes ultimately decided to focus on her family:
Every time I stepped out of the ring, my daughter [was] crying, holding onto me. It was very hard. And so I did not do the follow-up that I should have to really get in the ring.
Because I felt like I didn’t think I could do it. And that’s the truth. I don’t think I can live on a bus with this kid needing me 24/7 when I’m hurt. Because like, they don’t reach for dad, they reach for mom.
Brandi Rhodes has made occasional appearances for WWE since then, including being part of Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 entrance.
