More On Bret Hart\'s Contractual Status

When AEW first announced the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments, it seemed inevitable that Bret Hart would be involved one way or another.

Last week, news broke that the Hitman recently signed a new WWE legends contract that bars him from appearing for Tony Khan\'s promotion anytime soon.

On the latest episode Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided some additional information about Bret Hart\'s situation.

Meltzer confirmed that Hart has a legends deal and a merchandise deal with WWE.He spoke with Hart a couple of weeks ago and asked about the possibility of making an appearance for AEW as part of the Owen tournaments. Hart says AEW officials have not reached out to him.

The Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments were originally announced back in September 2021. The men\'s and women\'s tournaments are winding up the qualifying matches.

The finals of both competitions will take place at the AEW Double Or Nothing PPV on May 29th.
