Britt Baker Teases Return, But AEW Reportedly Has No Plan

Britt Baker isn’t giving fans a straight answer about her wrestling future, but she’s not shutting the door on it either. The bigger question is whether AEW has any real plan for her at all.

Baker shared a beach photo on Instagram this week, and when a fan asked in the comments whether she’d ever wrestle again, she kept things intentionally vague.

I dunno should I?

The former AEW Women’s World Champion hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the November 13, 2024 episode of Dynamite, when she beat Penelope Ford and confronted Serena Deeb. That puts her absence at roughly 21 months and counting.

The Fightful Report Behind The Tease

Public optimism from Tony Khan has not lined up with what’s reportedly happening behind the scenes. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has said Baker’s name still comes up occasionally in creative meetings, but nothing has gone beyond the pitch stage. There’s no storyline attached to her and no return date on the books.

Sapp was more direct earlier this year on the Fightful Select Q&A Show, saying he hadn’t heard internal discussions about her return in a long time.

I don’t think that we’re going to see her back.

Contract Clock And WWE Interest

Baker reportedly signed a five-year deal with AEW back in 2021, putting her current contract on track to expire this fall. An injury clause could extend that timeline into 2027 if AEW chooses to exercise it.

Khan has repeatedly pushed back on the idea that Baker is done with the company, calling her someone the promotion still values.

Britt’s still somebody very highly regarded and respected here in AEW.

That has not stopped speculation about her next stop. Multiple reports have linked Baker to WWE, with Triple H reportedly interested in signing her once her AEW deal runs out.

For now, Baker’s latest comment is enough to keep the door cracked open, even if nobody at AEW seems ready to say when, or if, she’s walking back through it.
