Chad Gable wants to be a world champion.
The WWE star recently had an interview with The Hot Tag. He talked about things such as the WWE storyline that made him emotional as a kid, taking motivation from Encino Man, and more.
The former Olympian also discussed the impact of the recent Mask vs. Mask match on his career in detail. Chad Gable, who has won the tag titles 4 times with different partners in WWE mentioned that the match with El Grande Americano showed the world that he is capable of more than just tag team wrestling:
So, I think it’s fairly clear to everybody that I’ve been this successful tag team wrestler and almost, you know, categorized as that. Tag team championships on every level. I’ve made it very clear in the past that I’m capable of more than that. And I think what the Mask vs. Mask match did was show the world that those weren’t just words—that I’m now backing it up.
I’m Capable of That: Chad Gable
Chad Gable discussed his ongoing storyline where he has been trying to make amends with the characters from his past. He specifically mentioned the story with Otis and how the emotions behind that are resonating with the people. The 40-year-old explained that it’s on him to continue the momentum he has gained from the AAA storyline and his goal is to win a World title in WWE:
My intention going forward is to continue to do that and prove that I’m not just going to want to hold singles championships going forward. That’s a goal. But to be the guy, man. To hold the World Championship. To hold the WWE Championship. I’m capable of that. I know it. And I think people now know it, and the right people now know it.
The former NXT star later said that he is currently in the process of either proving that he can bridge the gap and become the next level performer he always said he wanted to be or rest on his laurels after the one successful match.
