Conan Lycan Breaks Silence After AJ Styles Informs Him About WWE ID Deal: ‘I’m About to Kick the Door In’

Conan Lycan has spent eight years chasing a spot with WWE, and now that he has a WWE ID contract, he’s not being modest about what comes next.

AJ Styles delivered the news on the October 7 episode of WWE EVOLVE. Lycan responded on X, saying he’s been “knocking on WWE’s door” for eight years and is now about to kick it in and show the world who “the Landshark” is.

He then thanked the people who helped him get here. He credited AJ Styles for seeing something special in him and promised not to let him down. He also thanked his best friend, WWE’s Frazer, for always being in his corner.

I’ve been knocking on WWE’s door for 8 years, now I’m about to kick it in and show the world who the Landshark is 🙌🏽
Thank you @AJStylesOrg for seeing something special in me, I won’t let you down man and to my best friend @WWEFrazer thanks for always being in my corner 💪🏽

WWE ID contracts give selected independent wrestlers a direct developmental link to the company while they keep gaining experience. Lycan had been on WWE’s radar for a while.

He lost to Marcus Mathers in a non-televised match before the October 6 NXT, and lost to Brooks Jensen before the September 8 episode, after taking part in WWE’s SummerSlam tryouts.

Lycan, who has also wrestled as Mariano, debuted in late 2018 and has worked for ETU, Limitless Wrestling and CSW, where he is a three-time Heavyweight Champion.

He also appeared in several TNA Xplosion matches in 2024. Styles has become increasingly involved in WWE’s developmental system around NXT and EVOLVE, which made him a fitting person to deliver the news.
