Dominik Mysterio is a serious world champion in one company and a punchline in the other. He would reportedly like that to stop.
False Finish reports that sources indicate Mysterio is frustrated by the difference in how he is booked between WWE and AAA. One source said he believes he should be presented more seriously on WWE television given he holds the biggest championship in AAA, and that he would like the same character on both shows rather than appearing to be two different people.
He is not the only outlet reporting it. Self Made Pro said much the same on Self Made Sessions earlier this week, quoting the assessment that Mysterio thinks his creative is poor and does not understand why the AAA version of his presentation has not carried over to the main roster.
SummerSlam is the case study. Mysterio lost to Danhausen in the Human Monies on a Pole match on Night 2 in six minutes and 50 seconds, the shortest bout across either night. The finish involved the Minihausens, Joe Hendry hitting JD McDonagh with a guitar, and turnbuckle pyro knocking Mysterio off the ropes while he reached for a bag of cash.
Fans noticed something else that night. Mysterio came to the ring in older gear and did not bring the AAA Mega Championship with him, which plenty online read as a statement. That reading is theirs, not his. He has not explained it.
The Danhausen program has run roughly five months. It began when Danhausen cursed him at Elimination Chamber, and Mysterio lost the Intercontinental Championship to Penta on the March 2 Raw later that night.
His AAA side looks different. He is Mega Champion and defends against El Grande Americano at TripleMania on September 11 and 13.
