Dominik Mysterio led the beating that ended Finn Balor’s four years in Judgment Day. Balor calls that ups and downs.
Speaking to Nina Drama, Balor was asked about Mysterio and did not hold back on the praise.
Dominik Mysterio is annoyingly cool. Everything he does seems cool, and he does everything effortlessly.
Obviously we’ve had our ups and downs, but I got nothing but love for Dominik Mysterio and I think he’s gonna be an even bigger star than he is currently. I think he’s still on the rise and I’m excited to see where he goes.
The understatement is doing work. Balor was thrown out of Judgment Day on the March 9 Raw after his interference cost Mysterio the Intercontinental Championship against Penta. He called Mysterio a spoiled brat, echoing something Rey Mysterio had said years earlier, took a shove and answered with a Pele kick before JD McDonagh, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez joined in. Mysterio finished it with a 619 and a frog splash.
Mysterio was unsentimental about it afterwards, saying it had been a good run for his old pal and that it had to be done. Balor beat him in a Street Fight at WrestleMania 42.
This is not the first time Balor has spoken well of him since. He told Stephanie McMahon on What’s Your Story? earlier this year that he had promised Rey he would look after Dominik when he joined the group, only to find Mysterio needed no guidance. Asked before their first Judgment Day promo whether he wanted to run his lines, Mysterio said he would work it out in front of the crowd, and has done ever since.
The timing is interesting. Reports this week said Mysterio is frustrated with how WWE books him compared to AAA, where he is Mega Champion and defends against El Grande Americano at TripleMania next month.
